Isobel flew a little higher. 'Don't look down,' she thought. But she ignored her own advice and looked down. Her broom wobbled a bit, because she was nervous. But she had to get a hold of herself, how was she supposed to play quidditch if she was so nervous at heights. She knew she could do it, she had before. Isobel heard someone cheering for hufflepuffs. What the heck? It sounded really weird. She looked over and saw a group of people watching them. Great. Perfectly wonderful. What would they think if they saw her trying out for quidditch after having to go to flying basics. Well, at least she knew the answer to her own question. She had to get used to heights. On the bright side, the cheering had distracted her from the height. |
Raven is gladly flying on and off the ground, this is amazing, he didn't know how he do it, but he loves it. Raven decided to back on the ground after a 3 minutes flying he need to rest a bit, he lean forward and lean a little toward right to maneuvers. when he think its safe to landing. he held the broom slightly back unto him to make it going down, a little more and he is landing safely. |

Deciding to mix things up a bit, Sierra lowered her height ever so slightly then continued forward. She kept her broom positioned straight ahead as she zoomed toward the far end of the pitch. She suddenly became aware of the way the wind felt as it whipped through her hair, causing her brunette locks to blow backwards in the wind. Reaching the end of the pitch, she steered the broom handle to the left, encircled the side of the field, then headed off in the opposite direction. She rose to the height she'd been at before, and the strength of the wind brushing through her hair increased. She felt herself smile as she steered her broom to the right to move out of the pathway of a fellow first year. No collisions for her, no thank you. |
"HOLY PHOENIX FEATHERS!" Kurumi shrieked as the gap between her and the wall that wanted to be friends with her became about 3 feet. Kurumi quickly gained whatever balance she could and grabbed the handle of the broom and pulled it sharply to the right. The broom made such a sharp turn that it threw Kurumi off it and left her, once again, hanging with her feet in the air. This time, however, she had been close enough to the wall that her feet actually touched it and she now appeared to be running against the side of the castle as if she were trying to keep up with the speed of the broom. "Whaaaaaaaaaa..." Kurumi whimpered trying to figure out a way to get back up on her broom. Looking ahead, she saw that there was a sort of lamp sticking out of the side of the castle that was certainly going to get in the way of her horizontal running. She had a few choices here. She could just let go of the broom and fall to the ground. It didn't look that far and she was sure not to die...maybe just break a bone or something. Or, she could keep running until she hit the lamp and then let go. She could also push off against the wall and hang from the broom. Or, she could try to time things right and run up the side of the wall a bit and use the lamp as a sort of platform to jump back up onto her broom. It seemed almost crazy enough to work. Swallowing hard, Kurumi pushed down as best she could on the broom to make her wall running go a bit faster. The sooner she got to the lamp, the better. Her legs were beginning to get tired. |

She slowly leaned forward over the broom and it started hovering over the ground. Helena was now about one feet above the ground, but that was enough for her. The next moment, she was flying around, or maybe just hovering, but still flying. Maybe I'm actually going to enjoy this, she thought, laughing. Quote:
Okay, older students watching? He shoundn't have noticed that. Hearing the whistle, Helena leaned forward again and rose up in the air, this time a little bit higher. I'm really scared now, she thought. Okay, lean closer to the handle. The broom started to hover a little bit faster, but she didn't lean too close, she just... couldn't. She flew around for a few more minutes, faster and faster. Landing now. How was she going to do that? She leaned down a little and the broom started to get closer to the ground and she sticked her feet out to touch the ground. She took a deep breath. Okay, it's over. |
With his broom finally hovering, Eino cautiously mounted it, tightly gripping the handle. Being right handed, his right hand was on the top, and his feet were both secure on the ground. "Okay, okay, okay, okay...." He repeated nervously and breathing heavily. All he could think about was falling off of his broom and eating a mouthful of dirt and grass. He tried lifting both of his feet off the ground, but he didn't have the courage to lift both simultaneously. This caused the broom to shift, nearly tipping him over and off. If Faustus could fly without a broom, and wings, then Eino had to do it too. "Okay, on three... One, two, two and a half, two and three quarters, two and five sixths, two and seven eighths, th-th-th..." Noooooooo. Okay. Let's try again. He closed his eyes and imagined learning, anything really, which he usually had done in Finnish, so maybe counting in Finnish would help. "Yksi, kaksi, kolme!" And his feet were off the ground, dangling in the air. He stretched them back and placed them on the metal stirrups as Professor Vindictus instructed. He leaned his body forward slowly and the broom moved! "Stop, stop, stop!" Eino leaned back again and the broom stop. Oh? Lean forward, move forward. Sit straight, stay in place. He leaned forward and moved about twenty feet, well he had no idea what twenty feet were so he flew the same distance everyone else had, then returned to the same place (or somewhere in that area) as he had started. |
Luin flied around for awhile, watching some of the other students in the class. Sometimes cringing as it seemed that they had close calls, but some were really good. She was getting more comfortable at flying around and decided to try some different things. She lifted her broomstick up and flew higher than she had before. She remembered her dad always telling her about her mother's days being on the team here. She watched one of the other first years almost run into another and cringed a bit. She then tried going faster around in circles, getting used to the height and the handling. Then she started going up and down in different patterns. At one point she took a turn somewhat sharply and rolled over. She clutched at her broom in fear and dropped down suddenly. She managed to calm herself once she got closer to the ground and slowly landed, taking a couple of steps to regain her balance. She was proud that she was able to accomplish a little roll in there. |
Jenny tried to slow her rapid breathing as she began flying a bit higher than before. Wow...she really needed to get used to flying again; it has been a while since the last flying lesson. Slowly she leaned her body to the left; the broom veered to the left...slightly. "Okay, that's good. Good progress." Jenny told herself. Then she leaned her body in the other direction. The broom veered off to the right as well, although it went no faster (or smoother) than the last time. Jenny sighed. Will she ever get used to flying again like last year? Suddenly, Jenny made a twirl on her broom. "Whoa!" Jenny grasped the handle tightly. That was dangerous. Usually, such actions would seem fun, but now...Jenny has to get the handle on the flying basics first! She can't afford rolling in an uncomfortable state of mind! Shaking her head at herself, she continued straight on with her circles. |
CBA to quote all the instructions, but this is a MAJOR catch up :) Lux frowned as she looked around at everyone, flying around on their brooms. She glanced over to Alex, who looked like he was having fun, and she frowned again. Who could have fun on these?! They hurt your bum, your hair got all messed up from the wind, and quite frankly, Lux was afraid of heights. Oh Merlin, why had she even turned up? Sighing, she commanded her broom "UP!" and wrapped her hand around the broom as it rose gracefully in the air. Okay, so that was easy. Now for getting on it. She mounted it as shown, and was suprised that it wasn't as uncomfortable as usual. Oh, a cushioning charm? Nice one. The blonde flipped her plait so it swung down her back, and closed her eyes as she felt her feet leaving the ground. EEEEEEEK, this was not fun. She quickly shoved them into the metal thingys Vindictus had pointed out, opened her eyes. She was about a metre off the ground, and she smiled. Yup, this was a high as she was going. She leaned forward, and clutched the broom tightly as she felt it shoot forward. She quickly sat up, causing it to come to a halt quickly, and huffed as she almost fell off. "Stoopid broom." She mumbled, frowning at it. She seriously hoped Alex hadn't seen that little episode, or she'd never live it down. |
Okay, the lamp thingy was getting closer now. If she angled herself at about 45 degrees, she should be able to get her foot around it the lamp in just the right position to be able use it as leverage to jump up back to her broom. "Here goes nothing," she whispered as she stretched out her right foot so that it was just a half inch above the lamp and pivoted on it. With her left foot, she stepped onto the lamp and twisted it a bit so that she was facing sideways instead of forward. Her arms were twisted in a rather uncomfortable position, but at least she was making some progress. Now, for the hard part. Bending her knees a bit, Kurumi pushed off the wall and instead of simply mounting her broom, Kurumi ended up flipping up and over it like a gymnast on the parallel bars. After three rotations, Kurumi finally found herself mounted properly back onto her broom. Her hair was a bit frizzy from all the spinning, but at least she was back on her broom and facing the right direction. Smiling to herself, Kurumi looked down at her broom ready to get going in a different direction when she noticed that she wasn't looking at the handle of the broom. Instead of the handle, Kurumi saw the straw brush of the end of the broom seeming to laugh at her. "Anyone know any good tricks for turning yourself around on a broom?" she laughed nervously. Was it even possible to fly backwards? Kurumi was about to find out. |
Jamie had circled the stadium three times and was finding it to be a tedious thing to do so instead she just hovered watching everyone else fly around and do what they want. |

Raven rest is up, he is now ready for another take off, "UP", The old broom up toward Raven hand, he grab it, then mount it, more confident than before, he kick the ground steadily but a hard bit more than usual, and, here he goes, flying toward the other end of the pitch, How's Raven didn't sign up in the Quidditch Tryout, he maybe a career to this wizard favorite games. "Wooohooo, Free like a bird, fly like a hipogryff" Raven shout, his nervous is tolerable, he love it flying, Raven thinking of buying a race broom when the school permitted it, maybe in his second year. |

Lara was watching the Professor as he was moving fast and explaining how to control the brooms’ moves . She put her feet on the stirrups and her hands holding the broom, she leaned over her broom calmly and the broom was responding very well, she kept moving forward till what she thought was about twenty feet ,she can’t really tell, however she pulled the handle in order to make the broom slow down and it did! Now the next step is to go back from where she started, Lara thought why can’t she got off the broom and walk there! But nah.. that would have been stupid! And the Professor may take more points from Slytherin as he was in that mood! Therefore she made her way back and the going-back-journey was easier and faster! However it’s not what Lara enjoys ,she wanted to go up in the sky, but the Professor was clear about staying near the ground, so she’ll have to wait. Quote:
When the whistle went off, Lara pushed the ground with all her might. She flew in an extreme speed as she thought that she should’ve pushed the ground more gently! However, she pulled the handle towards her and the broom slowed down a bit which was safer. Lara was enjoying the gentle wind facing her face, although the wind was missing her hair up ,but she was flying and that made it acceptable. Now it’s time to move in all directions because forward and backward is getting old! Lara held the handle and moved right..but …Oopps! That was close she almost ran into a student. A new plan she must look where is she turning next time. It won’t be cool to be sent to the nurse in the first lesson. However ,the Professor mentioned something about obstacles ,and Lara was curious to know about them, so she turned her head to see them, and of course they were only some older students watch and enjoying the show. Well, the greatest think about Lara that she has cold nerves and she can handle the pressure ,so obstacles you can’t affect Lara! |
Conan shuddered on his broom. He was floating. What more did Vindictus want? Obviously for him to fly. He didn't want to fly. He wanted to sit here. Close to the ground. Vindictus couldn't make him. Nope. No way. The only way that he would move from this spot was if someone bumped him. |

"Oh you get higher by just kicking your feet off the ground" she told Jania matter of factly. "Yesh that is a good thing to know to go forward, a good start!" she giggled. :twins2:, "Come on and try it! i know you can do it, i think she put a charm around so we can't go any higher too, so you will be safe." she said as she got onto her broom, kicked her feet off from the ground hard and flew into the sky with the rest of her classmates. |

Reaching the far side of the field, Sierra pulled back on her broom and began slowing down. When she was at a safe enough speed so that she could be sure she wouldn't tip and fall over, she steered her broom to the left and edged along the side of the field. Lowering her height just a little, Sierra positioned her broom toward the opposite end of the field and took off. Feeling the wind through her hair once again, she leaned over a bit more and increased her speed. She felt as if she doing well enough, so she rose in height, as well. Eep! Fellow first year--just up ahead and in the line of flight! Sierra steered her broom handle to the right and then continued on her way, safety avoided a mid-air broom collision, which would have likely resulted in her very first visit to the Hospital Wing. She glanced at a goal post just up ahead and continued flying forwards. Hmm...how many times had she circled the pitch today? Three? Four? She was almost sure this was her fourth lap. |
Conan frowned. How come these people could do this, and he couldn't? He was a Taylor. And Taylors didn't give up at anything. He had been flipped and flung about so many times. He had been in turns of over 4G. He could do this. He pushed his leg across the grass slowly. He was going forwards. This was more exciting than he had thought. His knuckles were still rather white. He was fine if he just held on tightly. Ok pushing up from the floor took him higher. No he didn't want to do that. Just forwards and backwards right now. He smiled turning his broom slightly. |
Jamie leaned forward and looped around the Quidditch Pitch yet again only a little higher than before. She zigzagged between people and then went to go and land. As she made contact with the ground she jogged a few feet before coming to a stand still. She then went and pushed off again into the air. |
will finish when I get the chance...have to teach 5 elementary school classes now Quote:
Not waiting for Selina to respond, Kurumi reached her left arm out and rested it on the red-head's shoulder while keeping her right one on the brush. How was she going to managed this? Stand on her broom!? That did not sound like a good idea, but it seemed like her best option at the moment. Every so slowly, Kurumi lifted her left leg and put it on the handle. She really just wanted to curl up into a ball right now right there on her broom. Okay, step one done. Leg is on the broom. Now to push off... Kurumi was now standing on her broom, flying backwards, and with her right leg dangling in the air. Her and Selina probably looked like some sort of strange circus act. "Okay, I am going to try and turn around now..." With a jump turn perhaps? |
For Annnnnnnna! Conan was getting a hang of this turning. It wasn't quite the speed of a racing car, but it was ok enough. He turned sharply. He was good. Maybe he should do this more. He pushed along the ground a bit more. He was picking up speed now. Wooooo. He still preferred rollercoasters. They were far safer. He eyed the fast approaching girl. He was going to fast. How did he stop again? He hoped she did something. |
Jamie found herself coming to a stop. So many people and she was going a bit too fast. She hovered and sighed. |

A Hufflepuff flying into her line of vision distracted her from the goalpost she was so close to. She sat upright on her broom and focused her attention completely on the boy flying straight towards her. He was going to veer off to the left or right, wasn't he? Wasn't he?!?! Move kid! They were about to collide, so with her eyes wide open in horror, Sierra steered her broom to the left and hoped to Merlin she'd get away from him in the right amount of time. "Steer to your left! Steer to your left!" she called out, her voice possibly getting carried away in the wind. |
