Emily couldn't help but laugh as well, it did seem a bit ridiculous. She was just making things up- in a serious manner of course.
"Right," laughed Emily trying to focus back on the cards. She flipped the next one over.
"Your immediate past is ... the Page of Cups" she said, Emily was interested to see what this card had to offer. Flipping through the text she read... then re-read... it seemed quite simple... too simple in fact.
"Well it seems the interpretation is saying that in your immediate past there has been a message on some emotional matter- love, family, friendship or even heart-break."
Emily eyed Claire sceptially... surely it couldn't be love love... as in romantic love... Claire would have told her.
"You've heard from your parents right?"... "they were proud of you for being sorted into Ravenclaw" she said suddenly remembering the day after they arrived at Hogwarts when Claire had recieved mail from home.
"This would tie into your situation as well. This message of love/ from family is encouraging and possitive because they wish you well and have congratualated you for getting into Ravenclaw... and it was in your immediate past!" exclaimed Emily more cheerfully now that it wasn't as complicated a card as she had expected.

"Yep that sounds about right... but it seems too easy" said Claire as she dragged the text book towards her so that she could have a look as well. Sure enough the meaning did read quite simply.
"I guess your right", she said.

Emily frowned at Claire, "Don't you trust me?" she asked snatching the book back playfully. "I can read you know" she said sticking her tongue out.
"Anyway your next card will represent your immediate future." she said as she flipped the next card over.
"Three of Pentacles." she said. "So this card indicates that a creation will bring you support and encouragement or even financial aid. Sort of like when you create a business- the more items you produce the more you earn, the more you need to make which means the more profit you will recieve." Emily paused. "Perhaps through your endeavours and creativity you will be successful in your studies, and through this you will recieve more encouragement and so you will perhaps study more- achieve more. You'll be successful but will create more work for yourself. You may have higher expectations to meet?" said Emily slightly uncertainly.

Claire smiled, "I think I like the sound of that.. I mean if it means I'm successful like the other card indicated then I'll take it!" she said. "All I want is to be good at this magic stuff... I have so much to learn. This is actually a good motivator".
Claire grinned... wow she might actually have some hope. If Emily was reading them right she might do really well. And that would please her mum for sure.

Emily smiled, "I thought I was your motivator!"
"Next card!"... "This one will represent your best outcome" she said eager to see what Claire's best outcome will be.
"Six of swords" said Emily as she revealed the card.
"In a literal sense it may be interpretted as leaving your troubles behind. Where time away or a change in scenery may restore balance in your life."
Emily read a bit more from the text book.
"It could also be more complicated... it may also reffer to the mode in which you find your sollutions to problems/issues/questions... in that it may come from various sources, such as a book, or a lecture or through conversation etc..... This would act in a way of moving you in the direction of the answer."
Emily cleared her throat and continued... "Ultimately however it results in you finding your answer or finding your way to handle things." Emily giggled. "It may also LITERALLY mean travels by boat... do you plan on sailng on the lake?" she asked though she doubted it.

"So really this is a possitive response for your best outcome." she smiled, nudging Claire with her elbow.

"Oooohh! thats not bad. I might make a descent witch after all", said Claire as she gave Emily a quick hug. "And I'm such a good witch that I've already found an error!" she said excitedly though she stopped smiling immediately as Emily frowned at her.
"Well you read out the best outcome card after the immediate future card, when really it should have been the other way around. Not that it matters much though. I mean you lay out the cards in the right order.. didn't you?" she asked.

Emily suddenly froze, her eyes bulged a little. Could she have made a mistake?!... she looked at her text book again, then looked at the cards aranged on the desk... thinking back to when she drew them from the deck she realised she hadn't made such a big blunder as she had indeed drawn the cards in the correct order and had just made an error in the process of reading them out.
"No... its ok I set them out right, I just got too excited and read them out of order", she said blushing slightly. Emily didn't like to make mistakes.

"Shall we see what your staff have to say?" she asked as she looked at the four remaining cards.
"Your first staff card will represent factors that will affect your situation", she said calmly as she turned over the card to reveal, "The knight of cups".
"This card indicates that you are an emotional peroson... or at least thats how I interpret it. You are prone to love, are deeply passionate and are feircely loyal." Emily paused for dramatic effect.
"Though this may be seen as a possitive, the negative side to this is that you may get your feelings hurt, and you may be prone to depression", she said. "This may affect your situation if you are unable to keep a clear head and keep focused on your goals." said Emily, pleased with the way she interpretted the card.

Claires face fell... "Emmy... why does this seem so accurate?" she asked. Emily must be doing it right, it all seemed to fit perfectly. Claire was an emotional person, she loved her friends and family dearly, especially Emily and Xavier.

"I know! it sounds so much like you!" Emily beamed. "Hopefully Professor Bishop comes by soon, I'd like to know what she thinks of my reading." said Emily as she gazed around the classroom in search of their Professor.

"So your next staff card will determine any external influences in your situation", she said confidently now.
"The High Preistess"........"Oh cool, this is considered the card of knowledge,instincual/supernatural/secret knowledge. It says that the high priestess may or may not reveal this knowledge to you and if she does it may be to help you make some sort of decision either about an issue or other personal matters such as love, family or career and investment."
"But in your situation I'd say it would probably reveal information you require in order to solve a problem or issue, to solve a puzzle or something along those lines."

Claire looked at the card. "So this high preistess is supposed to provide me with information I require... interesting." said Claire hoping that this would come true. She would need all the help she could get.
"At least I havn't died yet", said Claire keeping the conversation light. "Thats an up-side."
"So what do my next two staffers say?" she asked.

"It is an upside, but you do relaise the reason your not dying is because I'm here to protect you from yourself", laughed Emily.
"Staff- hopes and fears"...."Queen of wands" said Emily
"So the Queen of wands indicates that you are a vivacious, out-going person who enjoys being in the lime light, often associated with performace, creative arts and/or leaders and activists." "The down side of the Queen of wands is that they may become over-bearing and bossy and may overwhelm or intimidate others s opposed to inspiring them."... "Perhaps you hope to be inspiring and interesting, or fear being a burden or being overwhelming and bossy.".... "Hope to be liked and fear to be disliked." summed up Emily, she hoped this was right.

"And the last staff represents the final outcome." said Emily as she took a deep breath in. "So this is it..." she said as she turned the card face up.
"The moon", she said as she riffled through her text book.
"From what I can gather", started Emily... "the moon has two sides, the dream and the nightmare, on the one side it may promise creativity and powerful magic as well as intuition, but on the flip side it warns about secret/ unexpected enemies, tricks or even falsehoods." Emily paused and looked up at Claire.
"You will go through trying and testing times, emotionally and mentally. Stay strong, and focused and hopefully this will result in creativity, great powers- psychic even with visions and insight."
"Trust your instinct", she said finally waiting for Claire's response.

Claire paid attention as Emily interpretted the rest of her cards.
By the end of it Claire was some-what confused. Her last card didn't offer her much resolution, it wasn't absolute, she wasn't even sure if it was a good or a bad thing. It all seemed to be a bit up in the air.
"So... after all that I may or may not succeed. It's going to be a battle empotionally and mentally. I'm going to struggle", she said. Just great she thought. "High priestess better help me out", she mumbled bitterly.

"Your turn now! Im going to reat your future, hopefully it will be more diffinitive than this silly moon business", she moaned. She really expected something more concrete than the moon. It was so vague she wasn't sure where she stood.

Simon looked at the Professor he had no idea what a three card spread was. "Professor what is a three card spread." Simon said he hoped the Professor wouldn't mind him asking.

"Mmm," Jake responded, still pretty much unconvinced. "I believe more in the subconcious response to the card, and tells and stuff when someone is doing a reading. That's what I read about in a critical book of Divination." Not that he'd know how to read a tell. "But I guess I can see how one might believe in all this stuff."

Jake, however, didn't.

Anyway, moving on.

"The parts of this subject I believe in and stuff are things about Seers. I mean, I've never learnt much about Seers or how their brains work or even about many famous Seers, except in books. And when I say 'Seers', I mean the prophecy telling ones, big prophecies or small. Not the ones who say they can See something in tea leaves. That's what I'd love to learn about; prophecies and Seers, like combined."

He gave a nod.

Mainly, he was here to learn all that.

Oh... and get a grade.

Sierra waved her hand in the air to dismiss what Satine was saying. "Of course you're not a bad choice for a partner," she said. She'd say that it was likely her own self and her inexperience that was causing the issues, but admitting fault just wasn't her kind of thing. Besides, in the end, Sierra's reading seemed to have made sense. Or, at least, Satine appeared to have gained some kind of insight from it.

...and, oh Merlin! It was her turn to get a reading again, which meant in a few short minutes, it'd be her turn to give another reading!

Sierra nodded along as Satine started the reading. Of course her inspiration and motivation was high at the moment! She was a newly appointed Slytherin. Who wouldn't be inspired to do great things!? She had to wait for her results, though? Eww. Patience just wasn't her thing. "Hmm. You have me really wondering about this decision I'll have to make," she said.

So, her turn again, right? Once again, Sierra shuffled the cards then plucked one right off the top. She took her time this go round. She didn't want to tell Satine that she was old and decrepit and needed to be destroyed again. No, this time she'd give a good reading the first time around. "Okay, you've got The Hermit," she announced. "I think this one means that when you seek guidance, you should look within yourself and listen to your own inner voice. It also says that in order to do this, you should eliminate inner and outer turmoil in order to clearly hear your inner voice." Shrugging, she added, "I guess it just amounts to the fact that a person can't really think properly with lots of nonsense going on around them."

"Ok!" the Slytherin lad smiled has he drew his seat closer to Fee's tablle and shuffled the deck. He then picked out 3 cards and set them across the line, forming a 3-card spread.

He looked at the cards lined up before them "The Knight of Wands, The Moon and The Fool." He frowned just slightly. "You know what those mean?"

Raven is wondered, yes, he is a wizard, he can do it my magic, this means that my magic will be boosted if I am cast a spell, loudly or maybe it say simply that my magic will be at most when my will to do something is very high or whatever.

If she had been actually paying attention, she would have noticed the professor standing…right there. But she wasn’t, so it wasn’t until the Professor herself actually spoke up did she know. Eep! How long was she there for?

"Moon card?" she asked, looking up to Professor Bishop for a moment before a look of realization dawned on her. Oh right, moon card. The card she was staring at holding.

Right. "Oh, umm, it's…" She was going to say fascinating but, well it wasn’t all that fascinating. She found other cards to be more fascinating than this one. "…pretty." Mmhmm, that was true. The professor couldn’t argue with that one! "And, I'm just wondering, how something so pretty can be so evil."

Well she could, but that would defeat the purpose of her excuse.

Lucy saw the girl coming close to her and saying she would be her partner, there a huge smile when she heard this "Oh for sure, lets get started as it's already late" she said excitingly to the girl. "ok, so I'll go first" she said and took three cards for her. Then she noticed she doesn’t know her name and said "Hey, I don't know your name, I'm Lucy" she said and smiled.

Then she looked at the three cards she picked for her "Ok, so your cards are Magician, Strength and Hermit." She said to the girl.

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself. I am Helena," she said, smiling to Lucy.

Helena looked at the cards for a few moments and noticed they were perfect for her. "Wow, they really fit me," she said amazed. Maybe Lucy had a talent for Divination.

She felt her cheeks turn red. "I'm sorry, it seems I'm a natural disaster at Divination," she said, looking down. "Shall I pick three cards for you as well?"

Emily smiled, it was just like Claire to fret over minor discrepencies.
"Sure", she laughed, "Just make it a good one", smiled Emily mischeivously.

"I'll see what I can do", winked Claire.
"I'm just going to do a three card spread- past present future. I don't think I'm quite ready for the celtic cross." she said. Indeed Claire felt very uneasy with the prospect of reading Emily's fututure. At least this way there would be less for her to interpret and so less opportunity for her to be wrong.
"What do you want to ask it?... do you ask it??" asked Claire uncertain whether or not this one required a question.
"Ask a question anyway" she said.

Emily smiled, "what ever your comfortable with hun", she said as she straightened up in her seat, suddenly excited about tarot reading.
"Um... Will Xavier and I have a happy life together?" she asked, blushing slightly.

Lucy looked at the girl as she introduced herself "Hey, nice to meet you" she said and smiled "You're in the first year" she asked as it was naturally for a first year to be confused.

She smiled and answered "Yea, as i picked three cards for you, you too have to pick three for me. This is because we are trying to read about each other. This is a practice as Professor said." trying to explain what is to be done.

Claire burst out laughing, tears collecting in the corners of her eyes.
"You're joking right.... even I can tell you that you will both have a blissful and wonderful fullfilling future." Claire shuffled the cards, or at least attempted to, it probably wasn't done very well.
"Ok if thats what you want to ask", she said after wiping the tears from her eyes.

Claire drew three cards from the top of the deck and lay them down in front of Emily face down.
"So first we have your past", she said as she turned over the first card. It was the sun. "Next is your present", Claire turned over the next card, this one was strength. "And lastly, your future", she said as she revealed the final card. The wheel of fortune.
