DADA Class 1 There was a brisk snap to the air in the unheated classroom as Tate set himself up at the desk in the front of the room and tightened the scarf still tied around his neck. Once the fire in the corner did its job, the room would be much more comfortable, and he would be able to remove the scarf and get his fingers working normally again. The fireplace was surely enchanted, because it wasn't long before feeling returned to his hands and the room felt almost cheery with warmth. Almost. It was still a little nippy, but would surely warm through the class period. Tate flicked his wand at the door, letting it swing open to admit students to Defense Against the Dark Arts. |
Defence against the dark arts. Helena waited for sooo long for this class! "Hello professor," she said, smiling, as she entered the classroom. Or headmaster? Oh well. She sat down at a random desk, quietly waiting for the class to start. |
Lexi was SO excited about DADA she could barely contain herself. Tate's classes were always SO awesome. Not to mention that Headmaster Hottie was easy on the eyes. Mhm. Entering the room she gave a slight shudder and pulled her cloak tighter around herself. Smiling SO brightly at the Tatertot she called out, "Good day sir!" With that she plopped herself into a seat in the front and bounced slightly. |
What exactly was it about this room, that it was always a good deal colder than most of the others? Had the house elves once used it as a fridge, and some of the cooling charms remained? Whatever the reason, a little nip to the air wasn't enough of an excuse to avoid the Defense room, and besides... he still had a lot of getting better to do. Especially if Sabel kept poking him for a friendly duel. Kellen nodded politely to the Headmaster as he came in, offered a, "Hello, sir," and went to take a seat. |
Awesome! Finally! A class that didn't have a new Professor, nor was new to him. Or wasn't taught by Saylen. Yes, this was sort of a happy class, regardless of the topic that was taught. The boy stayed a couple seconds at the door, pondering on whether he should enter or not. The classroom was pretty much empty, you see, and he had no idea where to sit. He whistled as he considered his options. And...the best option was whichever seat was close to the fireplace. That's the one he took once he was inside, "Good day, Headmaster" he said, with a smile on his face as he sat down. Mmmmhmmm, yes, the one closer to the fireplace was indeed the best choice. |
Salander strolled into the DADA classroom, and perhaps in a marked difference from last term, he wasnt shivering from the cold. if anything, the climate was absolutely delightful. Heck anything would be delightful next to the sub-zero temperatures of the South Pole. He gave a small salute to the Headmaster as he sauntered over to a desk "Mornin' Professor Tate!" |

"Sup." He joined her at the desk and dumped his bag underneath it. Wand? In wrist holster of course. Jim glanced up at the Headmaster and sort of acknowledged him all cool-like. No need to... you know, appear like he was eager to learn or anything. |
One thing she missed about her parents, were the jackets they used to get her. Light yet thick enough to keep her warm in the winter time. Unlike these school robes which almost did nothing for her. Merlin! She hated winter. However, with one step into the classroom, the warmth from the heat of the fire rushed across her face, causing her to not be so...tense. And teeth chatter-y. "Good day, Headmaster Tate." she greeted, the usual small smile on her face as she created with all the greetings for the professors unless it was just a really bad day, before heading on over to the desk near Salander. Teehee, hiya Salander! |
Kita walked towards one of her favourite classes and one she had been looking forward to a lot. The short brunette walked into the classroom and smiled. There was nothing wrong with looking forward to a lesson right? Her dark brown eyes scanned the classroom quickly before she walked on. "Hello Headmaster," she said brightly as she walked past the headmaster's desk. She placed her bag under a desk near the front of the classroom and sat down. |
Ellie drew a shaky breath as she entered the classroom. The headmaster still taught this? Ugh, out of all the changes in staff, they couldn't have a normal professor teach? Not that she had anything against Tate. He was...alright. He was just..headmaster..and important and stuff. Intimidating. So the girl gave him a small smile, not really looking at him, and crept along the side of the room to a seat far from the man. Not the very back, though. She wanted to be surrounded on all sides by her peers. Heh. |
Luin walked into the classroom, looking around at some of the students there and everything else in there. She turned to the professor and smiled, "Hello, Professor, I'm Luin." she then made her way over to a desk near the front, keeping her bag on her lap, she wasn't sure if it would be better to get out a parchment and quill or her wand. |
Tate nodded in turn to each of the students as they greeted them, noting with detached interest how they spaced themselves in the room. There was a psychology to it, who sat in the front and who sat in the back. Who drew attention to themselves by trying not to draw any attention at all. And how many of them were cold. "It's still chilly in here, but I promise it'll warm up as soon as we get started." |
FINALLY. A room that wasn't so overhwhelmingly hot. That was perfect. Well... for now. Jake was still getting over his weird illness thing and so still had this odd NEED for a cold room. He was still in the habit of carrying his outer-robes with him wherever he went because they were too hot... but yeah. Entering the room, Jake beelined for a place near the window. Was this his first Tate!lesson? Probablyyyyyy. WAIT... he was forgetting someone. "Oh. Hi." Something else too... Suddenly realising, Jake took off his sunglasses as well as he sat down and placed his bag on the seat beside him. |

After a moment of cough!laughter she said, "Hey you!" Hehehe. She might have scooted a bit closer to Jim for warmth... maybe. It WAS super cold in that classroom and all. |
Well, since Kurumi had already relived the golden days that were her first class of Defense Against the Dark Arts down at the lake, Kurumi was ready for some more organized chaos. "Good day, Professor Tate," Kurumi smiled before finding a seat near the front. |
Oh, this was the headmaster's class, wasn't it?! Although she'd seen the man at the feast and heard his welcoming speech, she hadn't exactly had a one-on-one conversation with him yet. Sierra wasn't exactly the type to go around office-hopping, so this class would pretty much be the first time she'd actually talked to the man. Defense Against the Dark Arts seemed to be a pretty promising class for a pure-blooded child, too. Or, really anyone she guessed; but learning defense charms and spells seemed to be a far cry from the subjects she was having a little trouble in, so she was feeling confident about herself as she strolled through the classroom door. "Hello, Headmaster," she said, giving the man one sharp nod before passing him by and finding an empty seat. She slid into her new desk and sat quietly while she waited for things to get underway. |
Simon bit back his excitement as he headed to Defense against the Dark Arts...a class that was perhaps one of if not his favorite class. Admittedly it might be since he was leaning in that direction after graduation but that was still a year and a half off and he had liked DADA since the begining. "Good day Professor," he greeted with a polite nod to the headmaster as he entered the classroom. Looking around for a familiar face, the sixth year finally opted to just take a seat off to one side to await class to begin when none of his friends appeared. |
"Hello Professor," Rowan said as she entered the room. As was her custom, she made her way to a desk at the very back of the room. After draping her bag on the back of her chair she sat down, shivered, then patiently waited for class to begin. |
Now this was the lesson Patroclus was looking forward too. None of the confusing numbers of Arthimancy, or huge names of Astrology. DADA was about guts, nerve and intuition. All of which Patroclus had. Walking into the classroom, he nodded to the Headmaster, "Morning Professor Tate" grinning brightly, then stared out across the room, to find a seat. Picking on he sat down, got out his parchment, and his quill. TEACH ME! |
Brittany happily walking through the DADA doors. They always had really good lesson in this class so was really excited to be back. She spotted the headmaster sitting in his usual spot. Even though she had him all last year she still didnt quite no what to call him. Headmaster or professor. ahh she would go with the first one that came to mind "Good morning ... Professor." she said with a small smile before heading over to a cluster of empty desks |

He looked around the room, trying for detached and disinterested, but not quite managing it. He was excited. |

For the first time in ages, Neptune didn't have to think at ALL about where or who to sit with. She DID pause when she noted Kellen - BEST FRIEND ALERT - but well.... she had to sit with Jake. Obligation and all. So, she settled for ruffling the Head Boy's hair on her way by. Heeeyyyyyyyyyy BFF! GIGGLE. "Headmaster Tate," cue over the shoulder finger wiggling. Giggle. ...just.... giggle. Weeeeee seeeeee youuuuuuuuuu. Neptune inched her chair nearer to Jake's with her knees before sitting. "I feel like I'm at home in here." And that wasn't a good thing. BRRRRRRRRRR. |
Caroline walked into the cold classroom. oh finally I classroom that is not hot to roast in. She passed Professor Tate. "Good Morning, Professor Tate" She said as she walk up the front of the room. She looked for a perfect place to sit. Where a student sits tells a lot about the student she said to herself. She shrugged. The back of the room was as good as any place. She found a empty seat in the back middle part of the room. She sat to wait for class to start. |
Tate gave a slightly horrified shiver at the wave from the Bott girl before pulling himself to his feet and addressing the class at large. "Quills and parchment out. Wands away for now. This will be an active class in discourse and thinking, but we will not be brandishing our weapons today. I promise there is fun to come later in the term, but we have a more serious subject today." |
Tugging gently on her scarf, she let a confused frown crossed as Tate spoke. No wands? Just....conversing? Hm. That didn't sound as fun as a paint ball war like they'd had last term. She wasn't too sure how much fun they could have just talking about defense, but Tate always did surprise her, so who knew. This lesson could come close to being just as fun as the others. Maybe. Pulling a leg under her, she let the other swing. |
