CoMC Lesson #2 - Sign In Here First

Maya was sitting on one of those log-benches, her lips pursed and arms as crossed as her legs. She almost looked angry, but fear not, she is merely scrutinizing all of the students who pass by the desk she put up in the middle of the Care of Magical Creatures area.

On this table, there was a piece of parchment, a quill in ink ready to be used right by its side. This said parchment is magical ofcourse, and whenever the ink touches the surface it dissapears. But, again, not to worry, whatever you wrote will be recorded for all time... *insert smirky smiley here*

Sign your info on the parchment, when you've read the rules and understood them, and wait for your classmates to do the same. After that, the class will begin.

So what does this parchment say, ey?

I, the undersigned, hereby vow to follow the rules set up by Professor Maya Saylen for this Care of Magical Creatures lesson. Any breaking of said rules on my part could lead to detention, all my points being taken, and whatever other punishment Professor Saylen deems appropriate.
I understand that these rules are not set by Professor Saylen because she likes to repeatedly see her own handwriting on a piece of parchment, but presented for my own safety and concern. Not only do I have to act appropriate in this lesson, but also act appropriate to those around me, and respect them.

OOC: By having your character sign this, You also agree Out of Character that you will not let your character do any of these things;

Reveal him/herself as a wizard to anyone outside class
Practice any spells whatsoever
Play out that anything no longer living has come back to life
In actions, behave in any way different than a muggle – alot of talking about Magic is okay, writing spells on the wall and other magical actions is not okay.

Please respect eachother.
Having your character accidentally transform his/her self into his/her animagi form infront of a muggle is not only breaking every magical rule, but disrespectful as you are restricting your fellow student Role Play freely without any trouble. This would no doubt force everyone to return to school, to avoid finding themselves the main attraction in a Witchhunt.

IF I see any of this, or anything alike, happening during this lesson, I will either delete your post, or edit out your disrespectfulness – to avoid anyone feeling forced to play out on the actions. And believe me you will be recieving a Private Message from me too.

Other than that, I do hope you enjoy this class!

*ish very curious*

Whaaaat?!

Saylen's face ALMOST made him turn around and head back to the Castle. But he decided to stay this time and then rolled his eyes at the piece of parchment.

Seriously?!

Tsk. Tsk. Saylen only had to write 'Treyen Lockhart not allowed' and he'll finally get it. She didn't want him in her class. So, that's why he was here.

Luin walked up to the table and looked down at the parchment and the quill next to it. She read through it then looked at the professor, "Hello, Professor." she then picked up the quill and signed the page:

She then went off to the side and waited for more of the class to arrive, wondering what they were going to be doing in class today, it sounded intriguing.

Walking into the class area for another COMC class, Simon found there were a few students there before him and noticing they were going up to the table in the middle so he followed. When it was his turn, he read the added rules and guidelines before picking up the quill to add his information.

As the last r was written he looked back to see it all had disappeared. Interesting he mused to himself before putting the quill back in its place and stepping away from the table for the start of class.

Kita was confused. There seemed to be a tense atmosphere in the classroom; which happened to be a first for Care of Magical Creatures. Or maybe that was just her thinking it was tense? Meh.

She made her way towards Professor Saylen's desk where a piece of parchment and a quill lay, as if waiting for her. Confused, she read the parchment and nodded to herself. Picking up the quill, she filled in the parchment.

And that's when the parchment disappeared. Weird. Kita placed the quill down on the table. She gave the Professor a swift smile before turning around and heading to a seat near the front of the classroom.

"Hiya Proffessor," seeing the parchment and the look on the face of the teacher Mikey could tell that was going to be a class for the record books, taking the quill and signing his name

Nika walked towards her class and looked around. Upon arrival she found that some older students were filling out a form of some sort. Hmmm.... Nika walked over to her professor while she waited for the students to finish up with there turn at the parchment. "Hello Professor! Nice to see you again! Look at my knee, it healed!" Nika winced when she mentioned her knee. Last class didn't go to well for her. Everything was fine until they received there "powers". Oof her knee hurt a lot, but luckily the healer was able to fix it up for her.

After chatting with her Professor she noticed that the line for the parchment was empty. She skipped over and glanced at it. Well this is peculiar? Are we going to go out into the muggle world or something... Why all of these new rules? Nika shrugged off her questions and signed the parchment with her loopy cursive. She tried the best that she could, but she was only a first year and it resembled chicken scratch.

Uh oh.

Why was Professor Saylen looking at them all like that? And what was up with the parchment everyone seemed to be signing? Stepping up to the table, Vashti sent a friendly greeting smile over to the professor before looking down and eyeing the parchment. Reading over it, she bit her lip but picked up a quill and signed it.

Jake went off to the CoMC class, all quiet and passive, and found himself... here.

Well okay then.

He bent over the parchment and filled it in, then watching as the ink disappeared.

Jacob walked down to the Care of Magical Creatures area. This time, his body could breath. No Gorilla suit to weigh him down, and give him heat stroke.

But Jacob saw a desk... had that desk always been there? And Saylen looked angry... Don't kill Me!

Wait... They had to sign something. What? Why? It made no sense, but Jacob took the quill and signed anyways.

When he finished, he saw that what he had written disappeared. Did he even sign it? "Um... professor? I don't think your quill's working." he said to her... maybe it was broken... or the ink had gone bad.

Wenzlebug 02-25-2011 12:12 AM

So... Saylen was having a bad hair day, eh? Her face so conspicuously bore the signs of being angry and ready to shoot dagger looks at them students. Heh. She was wearing that 'You-want-a-detention-boy?' look!

With enough mustered willingness, Cedric signed the parchment and watched as the ink deliberately disappeared.

Arya wasn't sure what to expect in this lesson as she skipped down to the creatures area, smile faltering only a bit at the look Saylen was giving them. Curiosity of the parchment being signed got the better of her before she had a chance to consider the look. Her eyes carefully scanned the parchment before signing.

Disappearing ink. Coooool.

Well, this has got to be the first creatures lesson she was slightly nervous before it actually started. It was like, they were all signing a sheet saying they agree to have detention for the rest of their school years according to the Professor's expression. Evelyn wouldn't be able to handle that!

Glancing around as she moved up to the table, she smiled slightly at the professor and gave a quiet 'Goodday' as a greeting before looking down to the parchment. Meh? The third rule...the third rule made her hesitate. And then the fourth rule. And...and the fifth and sixth rules...

What in Merlin's name? EH!? AND the ink disappeared!?

Pffft. Suspicious stuff.

Neptune signed, but she OBVIOUSLY had a few issues with them document. For one, her brother ALWAYS preached about signing things when he hadn't looked over them. And the other.... "If it's accidental, then it's beyond control anyway." Not that Neptune was planning on having an accident...

...but they had Jacob the Quidditch Captain and Walking/Talking Accidental Wonder. If they lost house points because of an accident... Hmph.

Chloe headed for COMC and was surprised to see that there was a table in front of the area with the porfessor standing near by. As she got closer she saw students signing something. When her turn approuched she realized it was liability sheet. Nice. She thought they must be working with a rather dangerous creature in the wrong hands. She wondered what it could be:

Just after she signed the parchment the ink of her writing disapeared. Okay, must be in the professors plan hopefully. She stepped aside and waited to see what may happen next.

Trixie was slightly worried. She had only just arrived in Care of Magical Creatures and this parchment had appeared asking for her signature. She eyed the writing, thinking it through, raising her eyebrow before choosing to sign it off. Better not break any rules or anything, but no magic to defend herself? MEEP!

Selina walked into Care of Magical Creatures and nodded to Professor Saylen, "Morning Professor, how are you?". She loved this class, it was always a thrill to partake in her unusual way of conducting lessons.

She then grabbed the parchment. After she read through the parchment she got excited. They were going on a field trip? This was going to be so much fun. Pulling out her Phoenix quill Selina signed the parchment.

This was... odd. She'd never had to sign a contract for a lesson before and Ellie thought that was a little odd. She also thought it was odd that Professor Saylen looked like she was glaring at everyone.

The air was stiff, and quiet.

Ellie scanned the parchment and, without question, signed it.

- No loud talking about Magic infront of others than the class
- Listen to Professor Saylen at all times
- Do not ruin your fellow classmates' experience in this lesson by behaving like a turtle on wheels.

This should be interesting...

Alice was incredibly glad to be getting back into the swing of having classes, but she couldn't help but be slightly perplexed by what she found when she walked up to the parchment and read it carefully.

After reading it through she gave a gentle shrug of the shoulders before pulling out a pen and signing the bottom.

Uh-oh Maybe Caroline should turn around and forget about the lesson. Professor Saylen did not look happy. She decided to go on and come to class she was almost there and she thought that the Professor had already seen her. She approached the table where the others had stood, signing there names. Like some type of release paper. Huh? Caroline read it and signed:

Emmy walked into the classroom, and stopped dead.
There was parchment on a desk by Saylen.
Tentatively, Emmy bent closer...

OOC: By having your character sign this, You also agree Out of Character that you will not let your character do any of these things;

Have your character sing the parchment, and then wait. Class will begin soon.

Having read the parchment carefully - twice through - Emmy picked up the quill, and wrote, in a slanting, elegant hand;
Emelia J Frost, Fourth Year Hufflepuff.

Salander strolled into class wondering what they could be in for today. You see despite being bitten, chased, turned jelly-leg and nearly driven insane by certain tunes he still, punctually and ever so faithfully show up for COMC. Such is the pull of one Senorita Saylen on him.

Of course for the first time ever, he may have started casting doubts.

The parchment looked like something he signs when he's just been released from juvey hall.

Huh.....

He looks at the Professor and the parchment back and forth. Should he ask for a counsel? "Uhm Professor.... accidental magic is uh..... accidental. Should I take out an insurance policy or something?"

Nah he wasnt trying to be smart with her. He was just trying to be smart period.

Then again if he really was then the House of Ravenclaw would be welcoming him with open arms.

He signed his name in anyway.

Make like a Muggle. It'd be just like the old days...

Emily wandered down to Care of Magical Creatures, it was a lovely day out, and she was excited to see what Professor Saylen had instore for them today.
"Hello Professor", she greeted as she arrived.
Noticing the parchment, quill and ink on the desk Emily edged closer... It seemed as though we were to make a pledge today. Emily read through the rules to be followed.... lose all my housepoints? Emily thought... for the lesson or the term?
Either way it didn't matter she wasn't about to break any rules. Everything would be fine. She took up the quill, dipped it into the ink and signed.... oh wow the ink disappeared. Brilliant.

o.O

Really... Lexi might ought to turn around and leave... accidental magic and all that. It HAPPENED sometimes.

Besides... she wasn't an avid CoMC student anyway. Sighs. She was intrigued by the rules and whatnot, though. So she grabbed the quill and signed her life away.

Treyen and Jacob are in here. *nods*

Ellie WAS coming to this lesson. And she was planning on scrutinizing Saylen all the way. If she did one more itty bitty thing like cut off another crup tail or whatever, she was SO out of here.

The paper....was interesting...and unexpected.

"No accidental magic?" Ellie read out loud, then looked up at Jacob, who, as she had hoped, WAS there, "Here that Captain?" Hahaha.

And no walking off? Gahhhh. She looked at Treyen, who was ALSO there. Fine. Fine. If she can't walk off, she'll just report Saylen to....Little Professor-not Tate, cuz he was scary- after the lesson was over. HMPH.

So, she signed.
