Kurumi could handle that...she just hoped that Eino could too. His costume was rather heavy and bulky. Kurumi adjusted her phoenix headdress and turned around to make sure that her tail wasn't going to smack into everyone. Just as she was about to give the command to Eino to start walking, music began playing. Holy Merlin's toothbrush, that was, um, an interesting choice in music. "Eino," Kurumi said trying to ignore the music for a moment. "Let's try stepping in rhythm with the music, left foot first. Are you ready?"

Eino kept both of his eyes on their legs and feet. He looked back and forth from Kurumi's to his and tried to move them accordingly, while trying to balance himself and not be squished by the rocks. What in the scald of Morgan La Fey was this frightening sound?! Eino was very much distracted by it, he had never heard of this ill-sounding, death-attracting, soul-sucking, horrifying dirge! "L-left foot first..." His right hand was the hand he used to write, okay, now left hand, left foot, got it. "O-okay..." He said hesitantly and moved his foot in sync with Kurumi's and the dirge's rhythm. Was this some kind of funeral activity where they meant they punish themselves as a way to relate to the deceased? This was very uncomfortable and very painful and very eerie. Yes, mostly eerie. A bunch of students wearing creature outfits, somehow mutated to each other, racing to the sound of death.

"Common leg, separate legs," Cedric muttered under his breath, merely repeating what his partner was saying. It seemed harder than he thought; having been tied together, that is. "Sure, a spin will do the trick." He found himself laughing, too. Heh. Wouldn't they look somewhat silly, though? You know, to all the people who'd see them and all, tied together and spinning. Spinning Prefects. Hehe.

Cedric wondered if they would be starting soon. Professor Saylen's further instruction, and the play of children's music definitely indicated the start of this game. He turned to Patroclus, "Hey, you hear that? We're gonna walk round the circle."

Right so they had the theory down, now came the practical.

"Okay, I will tie us up, ready?" Patroclus stood next to the 'Puff Prefect, and with a few quick weaves of the rope, he had them comfortably joined at the ankle. "Right. Sometimes it's also helpful to rest our arms over each other's shoulders, like a scrum." The Lion's knowledge of sports was coming out once again.

Snickering with his Partner, Patroclus nodded as he was relayed Smexy Maya's instructions, "Perfect! Well we are ready to move!"

Let's do this!

"Ooooh, maybe she has something by The Chimaeras. The was the band my dad was in," Jake said in a low voice, stiiiiiill smiling, not moving his lips. He could taste the victory already.

It would be like The Shawshank Redemption. BAHAHAHA.

"Oh, I don't know." Nika laughed at there situation, a dragon and a bunny tied up together by the leg. "How bout we go on the count of three with our tied up leg first?," How things were going to work, she didn't know.

Although she did admire the professor's creativity for the lesson. Then Sierra made a suggestion and it did make a lot of sense. The poor crup had lost it's tail. "Probably. But I think we are finding this much harder than the crup." She didn't even know that crups needed tails. And humans definitely needed both legs. Lost in thought, Ella stumbled suddenly, but didn't fall. Phew, she was getting used to this.

"I guess so." She shrugged, then glanced at the professor. It was a stupid idea to do that because it made her stumble again. "Merlin's Beard." She muttered in frustration. "Are your ankles killing? 'Cause mine are." But she soldiered on, like a good old team player.

Ella took a moment to look at the other students and she was quite surprised. "Looks like we're in the lead." Everyone else was still tying themselves together. But then again, Ella wasn't sure if this actually was a race.

She hoped so. Because she they were winning!

Sierra just shrugged in response to what Ella was saying. This was her first Care of Magical Creatures class--ever, so she really had nothing to compare this lesson to. Personally, she was finding this a lot more fun than Ancient Runes, Divination, or Arithmancy. Sierra did terrible in those classes, so she'd spent nearly the entire time in the first two stressing out over trying to learn the material. At least walking around in circles tied to another student was somewhat easier to grasp a hold of.

"Yeah, no kidding. I mean, the crup doesn't necessarily walk around on it's tails like we walk around on our legs," she said. "Still, the creature did look a little disoriented when it thought its tail was gone. Maybe that's the effect the professor is trying to give. Maybe she wants us to get a feel for that same type of disorientation."

OOC: Continued below.

Her owl? Merlin.

"Allright, everyone seems to have partnered up and ready to go." How was she going to do this with two hands occupied by a cat and crup? Nevermind. "I want you to walk around inside the cirlce, like you'd normally would," exept they had another leg tied to one of theirs, "And that is all you have to do." Simple enough? Yes.

Putting the crup down on the ground to sniff around her feet, Maya drew her wand and pointed it at her cottage, where suddenly music could be heard coming from it. Loud and clear.

Ready?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, BEGIN!

OOC: Anyone without a partner still has time to find one, and those of you who have only just started to participate, is more than welcome to jump into the lesson. Just act as if you've been there the whole time.

...and that was when she heard it.

She paused, forgetting momentarily she was attached to another human being, and looked around for the source of the sound. She wanted to take her wand and...well, she didn't know a charm to make the music stop, but if she did, that's the one she'd want to use.

"Oops," she said, noticing she'd stopped. She started walking once again, falling into step right alongside Ella. "Sorry about that. The music threw me off. Must she play that?!" Sierra's gaze turned to the professor, and she added, "What's her name anyway? I didn't even manage to pick up on that."

I will if that forked tail dog does. Walnut began to try and wiggle his way out of the strange woman's grasp. He was going to get up close and personal with this new creature, right now!

Maya was swaying a tad, along with the music, a smile on her face. How she could have so much fun being a teacher... Oh, how much fun.

The Crup was still sniffing around her feet, and whatever else he could find on the ground. She wasn't worried about him, but she started to worry about Walnut when he got all hyper. "Easy there, little guy." Maya said softly, looking at the creature, getting a better grip on him.

Hopefully he wouldn't jump out of his frog suit and leave it with her...

Now though, he had a dilemma. He had nothing against three legged races, and would usually quite enjoy it. Perhaps apart from the finding a partner bit. Running around outside in the fresh air with a bunch of creatures? Pure win, in Spike's mind. But today, well today he was a spider. And he was taking it very seriously, as one should do, if you're going to impersonate your favourite creature. He was making Matilda proud.

The problem of course, then, was that Spike already had eight legs. And in his head, being a spider, those were all real. So to get only three would mean a whole lot of mutilation. Did he need the same spell as the crup had on its tail? He wrinkled his nose, a look of distain on his face.

Should he mention it to the Professor? Ignore his legs and just find a partner? Or do some kind of hands and one foot hopping motion on his own?

He knew which one would be most fun... Hehe.

And there we go. Two more. "Perfect. Mister Ives and Mister Hutchinson. Neither of you have a partner yet? Well now you do!" Tadaaaaaaa!

"You are all doing very well! Keep it up." Maya nodded.

That's when she heard the music. "I think that's our cue to start," she said as she put an arm around Vashti's shoulders, "Ready?"

Vashti would agree with that statement - it definitely did feel weird. Not only because they were all dressed up in costumes, but also because...well humans just weren't meant to be tied together by a leg. Besides-

WHY was that the Professor was playing THAT?! Great, now Old MacDonald was stuck in her head, and Vashti had to consciously stop herself from opening her mouth and singing along. But the urge to sing was so strong... >.<

"Yeah," she said instead, putting her arm across Kita's back. "I'm ready." And she started to take a step forward with the leg tied to Kita's. But now she was also unable to resist the urge to sing along any longer, and so under her breath she quietly sang/mumbled, "Old MacDonald had a farm, ee i ee i oh..."

Huh? Where'd he go?
And then he turned around.
There was Deus, trying to catch up as best he could and looking quite irritated. Braeden tried not to grin in amusement at his friend's frustration, but then he remembered his costume was covering his face, so he grinned anyway.

"Well we still gotta stay ahead so when the race does start, we start off in front of everyone else!" said Braeden, though he did slow down enough for his friend to catch up, at least enough so that Deus was walking along with him rather than being dragged across the ground like a rag doll.

Amadeus was about to slap himself, as if he were in a dream. Was Brae really that thick, that excited? "There is no front; it is a circle." To emphasize his words, the Ravenclaw traced the circle that they were walking in with his index finger (or rather, claw). "Besides, you don't want to scare the crup that the professor has." Amadeus looked at the creature apprehensively before his eyes traveled to meet Walnut's, the cat. "Nor the kitten. I don't think the creatures would take nicely to you stomping around." He shuddered to think what would happen if the crup or kitten became frightened or angry with Braeden, who appeared to be a creature from one of those scary muggle films. It was a wonder that none of the students seemed frightened because of his attire.

Glancing up when a question was asked, Evelyn pondered on it for only a second before shaking her head. "Off. Definitely...off." Yes, keep it off. It made her look more human.

Now, with that taken care of and she wasn't so twitchy about Arya's costume, Evelyn continued to wrap the rope around their legs, adding in a few knots in between before one final knot at the end. There. It'll stay. Not too tight, yet not too lose where they will be tripping over the rope. Juuuust right. "How does that feel?" she asked while standing up- Meep!

How in the world did she manage to forget she couldn't use one leg already!?

Arya moved her leg closer to Evelyn's when she worked on tying their legs together. A three legged race with costumes. This was awesome. It was a shame that Evelyn's wasn't more festive, it would have added to their fun. But it would have made walking more difficult? Hm.

Off it was then. "Okie dokes." While the older girl continued working on tying them together, she worked on removing the giant dog head. It wasn't easy as putting it on had been, especially since she needed to keep still, but she eventually got it off and tossed it beside her bag.

It was like a weight had been lifted off of her, and she felt less, confined with the head gone. Pulling her hair into a quick ponytail, she wiggled her leg that was tied to Evelyn's. Grinning at how the older girl's leg moved with her's. "It feels good. Ready to get going?" Arya was, and if she wasn't tied to a Slytherin, she would be bouncing.

Oooooh. Right. A circle. But... but... but!! Braeden turned to Deus and looked at him with large, brown I'm-about-to-burst-into-tears-and-it's-your-fault eyes though Deus couldn't really see that under the boy's mutant deer costume. So he straightened up. "Alright, alright, we'll move slower," said Braeden, sounding like a scolded little kid. "But when the race starts, we're storming ahead of everyone!"

And then Deus mentioned the crup and the cat.
Well, the crup Braeden didn't mind all that much. It was actually kind of cute, except for that tail. But the cat.... aw man, the cat. Braeden shuddered. He'd never had any luck with cats. They always scratched him and bit him; they were foul creatures. "Y-You d-don't... you don't honestly th-think they would... attack me, do you?" he asked in a hoarse whisper. That cat looked like its claws could dig through the 87465 layers of fabric on his oversized costume. Just the thought of it had the poor Gryffindor boy near to tears.

"Of course we will!" Amadeus scoffed, as if there would be no other option but to blow the other competition out of the water. Deus was unaccustomed to failure, especially in something as simple as this. Besides, he would be humiliated if he was beaten by any of the much younger students. When Braeden spoke again, the seventh year was slightly taken aback by the fear in his voice. Was the cowardly lion afraid of animals? Deus wasn't afraid of them, per se, but chose to disassociate himself from affiliating with lower-ranking creatures.

"Be cool," He murmured to Braeden as they began to walk in a comfortable rhythm together, without waddling along. "I can't be sure if they would, but that's why it's paramount that you stop acting a fool." He knew he was being harsh, but it would be the only way to save Braeden and himself from being attacked by the creatures and from possibly being laughed at by the others.

"Yes." she muttered, letting go of the girl's shoulder for a moment...before changing her mind and hooking her arm with Arya's instead. This...was...torture. If the close proximity wasn't annoying her enough, it was the blasted music that was! "Tied leg first forward...now."

As she said 'three', Ariana took a medium-sized step forward with her left leg.

"Alright, everyone seems to have partnered up and ready to go." How was she going to do this with two hands occupied by a cat and crup? Nevermind. "I want you to walk around inside the circle, like you normally would," exept they had another leg tied to one of theirs, "And that is all you have to do." Simple enough?

"Okay, ready to go?' Ariana asked Matty, having managed to take a few steps without falling. And then the cottage began to play... muggle nursery rhymes? Odd.

"Inside foot first. 1, 2, 3, ", and at 3, she took a step with her left foot... and then her right... and then her left...

"Oh. I guess not." Mia had absolutely no idea what it took to sail a ship but yeah now that she thought about it some more it would probably take about ten or more people to sail one. Those things were huge.

Before she could ask him any more questions, Jacob was now asking about her. "Um...let's see wizard father and muggle mother. We live in a commune with about fifty other people which are all muggles. Some people call us hippies." She shrugged her right shoulder since her left was occupied at the moment. "I don't know about that but we do sleep in tents, have no electricity and live off the land." And that had been okay with her when she hadn't known any better. Now that was at Hogwarts, Mia sometimes wished for something more.

And just when Mia thought they were going to get a rest, music started up and the Professor told them to get started. Merlin! She and Jacob had already been walking around.

At his question, Mia chuckled. "I think it might be the latter. We could have done this in our uniforms. But I suppose it would look amusing seeing a gorilla and fairy joined together and walking in circles." The things their Professors made them do, they would want to get some points out of this. "Something about balance, maybe?"

Jacob listened as Mia talked about her family. That was interesting, "I never knew people live like that." he said, he didn't mean it in a bad way, it was just suprising. He thought that muggles on land always used electricity, even he had electricity at his house now. "How does it work, is it like...." jacob tried to think of something. "Do you like have certain jobs, like farming, milking cows, cooking?"

He continued to walk along with Mia, she was right, you kinda got used to the being tied together by the leg.

Hmm... amusment for the professor... heat strokes for the students, that was a lovely thought. Somebody needs to get professors that aren't completely insane, insanity was Jacobs thing. and the costumes "The weird thing is that we have this stuff just randomly laying around in our dormitories" its was so unusual, so abnormal, so very hogwarts-y

"Yes." she muttered, letting go of the girl's shoulder for a moment...before changing her mind and hooking her arm with Arya's instead. This...was...torture. If the close proximity wasn't annoying her enough, it was the blasted music that was! "Tied leg first forward...now."

And...first step!

Arya hadn't realized that Evelyn's hand was on her shoulder, having been to busy wiggling their legs. That and the costume made small touches almost ignorable. It wasn't til she removed her hand that Arya realized it had been on her shoulder.

Good. Evelyn was ready too. Hooking her arm with the older girl's she tugged her close so they wouldn't fall over and when she said to move the tied leg first, took the first step with her.

It was possible that Arya was letting all her giddiness for the puppy not having his tail removed, the game they were playing, and the music get the best of her. It would explain why she didn't hesitate in taking the next step with her other leg. Almost forgetting to say, "Other leg!"

Braeden was encouraged by Deus's determination to win - at least they agreed on something - but soon turned serious as his Ravenclaw friend advised him to 'be cool' and 'stop acting a fool'. "Merlin, Deus, you have such a way with words," said the Gryffindor boy with mock admiration, putting on a girly tone to his voice as he brought a hand to his chest, right over his heart, as if Deus's words caused it to go all fluttery. A moment later he was laughing again, though, shoving his friend playfully as they continued walking around the circle.

Outer legs first, third leg second; outer legs first, third leg second. They were actually doing pretty good! It also helped that they were both moving at the same pace rather than trying to fly around the circle like earlier.

The cheers.

The guitars.

The singing.

The... nursery rhymes?

NOOOOO.

"Guitar, dude. He gave me his first ever guitar for my birthday. I have it in my dorm... I should show you. And he's gonna get me into the music b-"

WAIT. Jake was getting carried away. He looked over his shoulder and nearly ran straight for the cottage to leave Salander trailing behind him.

But no.

That would be bad.

"Over halfway there." YUP.

Smiiiiiiiiile and nod.

SPOILER!!: Salander and Jakers xD

What.

"Boys, I think you're going the opposite way..." from everyone else that is. Heh, whatever, they could walk whichever way they wanted. Or wait, there was no opposite way. Heh. Nevermind, they all looked funny and thats what mattered.

But her attention was needed somewhere else.

"Mister Perevell and Mister Giordano, why don't you partner up?" Hhhhhm?

And there we go. Two more. "Perfect. Mister Ives and Mister Hutchinson. Neither of you have a partner yet? Well now you do!" Tadaaaaaaa!

"You are all doing very well! Keep it up." Maya nodded.

"I say we make a run for it," Jake stated, still smiling. Without waiting for an answer he grabbed Salander by the back of his robes and turned to run for the cottage, making sure the Slytherin didn't trip.

Old MacDonald... your farm is about to be overrun by a snake and a badger.

There's... probably a witty point in there somewhere.

Salander spun his head at Jake momentarily and he nearly lost his balance "He taught here? Your dad the Music man?" That was awesome! No! That wasnt awesome, because that means Salander totally missed his gravy train to stardom.

But his son is here sooo.....

He turned his eyes back at the Professor all a-silly-grinning when Jake said they were halfway there. Then the Mexicana turned and talked to them. Salander froze, squeezed Jake's shoulder to stand perfectly still. And smile!

When the Professor's attention was taken by other students he suddenly felt getting dragged by the collar (again). Given that he was tied to Jake he kept up with the other lad running all the way to the cottage.

He leaned against the wall, the music practically BLARING now. He grabbed for the door handle and turned.....

.... And the door swung open.....

"Lets go!" he mouthed off to Jake. Because that music is driving him insane!

Maya had gone and stood to the side, not wanting to get trampled...specially with what was coming next. And if she hadn't turned around to see where the Crup had gone to (it was sniffing a flower), she wouldn't have seen Jakers and Salander.

Breaking and entering.

Her wand was out before the Crup could sneeze.
"HOLD YOUR HORSES!" Or your Iron Man and Naked Snidget. Her wand flicked and she made the door forcefully shut again. Too bad if it hit their noses. "WHAT do you think you're doing!?" What what WHAT?

Ay caramba.

Amadeus simply rolled his eyes at Braeden's display of femininity. It wasn't like the Gryffindor didn't act like a girl at least once a day, anyways, in whatever he did. Amadeus had his female traits, but he attempted to keep them hidden. Brae, on the other hand, was comfortable with letting his freak flag fly. "Oh, how kind of you to say." Deus simpered, taking Braeden's paw in his hand and mockingly kissing it as if he was a gentleman courting a lady. Of course, his lips only met faux fur and he had to wipe his mouth with his fingers afterwards, but it was comical all the same. It was a wonder that the other girls in the vicinity weren't glaring daggers at Stonem after seeing Deus display such affection, albeit sardonic.
