So, the next stop is the exciting Blue Whale, Marine & Reptile Gallery
As you enter the large room, the bone theme is still present - you notice this if you look up to see several sea creatures' skeletons hanging from the ceiling. By the walls are a couple of replicas and parts of fishes, like sharks and those things that live so deep underwater you might never have known them.
Some of them even have names associated with the Wizarding world, like this big lizard, called Komodo Dragon. This gallery has more to offer, but don't worry, the class will get to them soon.
Maya kept walking and finally stopped to stand infront of what looked like a dried out fish with a thing poking out of it's head. "What... is this?" She hoped to hear some fun answers. Unless everyone in this class was supersmart. Meh."Give me your best guess." Come onnnnn.
Fish. Still Lexi knew nothing much about them... Other than they were tasty when fried and served with chips. "It's a fish innit... I mean... can you eat it?" she said as she raised her hand. She was CLEARLY being serious. Really. She wanted to know if she caught one of those if she could batter and fry it.

Sierra drew in a small sigh. She had absolutely no idea who in the name of Merlin Nemo was. Apparently, though, according to Kurumi Hollingberry and Michael White--whoever Nemo was, he'd been found. Finding Nemo, hmm? Whatever...
With a smirk, Sierra spoke up. "Yup, I'll say that Nemo's been found--by a group of hungry fisherman, that is," she said. The fish still looked like it'd been someone dinner back in the 1800's. Whatever it was, it was ugly, and of course Hollingberry knew all about it--name, gender, and eye size included.

"Hahahah i know right?? My favorite muggle movie of all time. It is a good motto dory followed even though she wasnt a shark." she giggled. "Pssh it is not fictional, i mean at least they show some fish species and learned about them." she shrugged.
Wait...was Kurumi in trouble?! Kurumi looked up at her Transfiguration professor with a look of confusion, but knew there was no sense in arguing. Nor would there be any point in pointing out the fact that he started it and she was giving him a gently, but forceful, reminder about the rules they had signed. Wasn't there something about being respectful? She shot the first year Slytherin another quick look out of the corner of her eye. Ignorant people...she was pretty sure she was allergic to them and wouldn't be surprised if she was breaking out in a rash right about now.
Kurumi nodded to the Professor and said nothing more.
Instead, she looked at the fish mummy and noticed something. Her hand shot up again. "Professor Saylen," she said with a hint of excitement in her tone. "I believe that that is not only in the anglerfish family, but I think it is better classified as a footballfish." She paused for a moment to walk a little closer. "A female perhaps. Females have large mouths and small eyes whereas males have large eyes."
Cass had moved closer to Kurumi when the class had moved over to this area and had seen and heard the disturbance and was glad that nothing dumb had happened. After hearing Kurumi giver her answer he took a better look at the display and realized she was most like correct, though it was very much like an Anglerfish it was a different kind.
Cass says to Kurumi, "I think you're right Kurumi. I was never to good at telling fish apart in classes ever." Then adding quietly to her, "You alright?"

"Nemo is an awesome film." K-Lee replied to the two who had started their own conversation.
"Ever since seeing that film I haven't eaten any fish. I live by 'fish are friends, not food'. Finding Nemo is amazing." K-Lee loved Dory the most.
"Anyway, I'm K-Lee, second year snake." She finished.
The Professor's voice brought her out of her reverie and she turned to look at the fish the Professor was pointing at. Slightly confused, she peered at the fish. Now what was the name of the fish...? "Is it a... piranha?" she asked. Surely it's that. Unless... Confused, she glared at the fish, trying to figure out what it is.[/COLOR]
Hehe. "Good guess, but no, it is not a piranha."

Um... Maya's mouth formed a small ' o ', a little indicisive, hehe. "Well...it is an old fish now, it probably was not when it...was in the water." Eugh. She gave the young boy a small akward smile.

"And it looks like someone scared it to death" Its a face not even a mother could love.
Ugly? "Hey, I'm sure his or her mother found him or her beautiful." Maya jokingly scowled at the boy. [ooc: hehe totally just borrowed your idea ;P ]
As for the scared part... "Yes, it rather does." Getting removed from its home could probably do that to you.

"Very good. With a bait like that it does make good use of it in the darkness of the deep waters." Nod nod.

The Mexicana's nose wrinkled a little, but she took a quick sip of her coffee to smooth it out. "The tails of some Anglerfishes are edible, yes. Not sure which ones though." So, better find out before you decide to eat 'em!

"Girls." What are you doing? "Pay attention to class." Maya's headache was starting to make her growl.
So, one last fish themed question, and then they were moving on. "Let's go over here..." Maya pointed at something a couple of feet away, suspended from the ceiling - something large, blue and...bigger than life looking. It was nothing less than a lifesize replica of a Blue Whale.
"Everyone, meet the Blue Whale. This creature is a mammal - it is approximately onehundred-eight feet long, and weighs around two-hundred tonnes." Heavy. "It is considered to be the biggest creature to have graced this earth." Just look at it. Maya couldn't keep her eyes of the replica.
"One could think the seas are filled with these beauties, but, unfortunately they are an endangered spieces." Meaning? "There are not many Blue Whales left in the world." And that was just so sad. "How do you think we could help reduce the Blue Whale's endangerement?"

Emily looked at the huge whale. It was beautiful. Why would anyone want to hurt that? "Because of whaling." she suggested "People killed whales for their meat and oil. For, basically, our needs. It's horrible."
Yeah, well, it didn't happen so much anymore. But it still did, the percentage was just smaller. "And no. I havn't eaten whale and to be honest, I don't really want to." she said with her arms folded. Whales were really beautiful in her opinion... and huge!

Nika's mouth dropped wide open at the site of the whale. "WOAH! That thing is HUUUGEE!" she exclaimed."Awww poor little- er big whalies! That is so sad! Everyone needs to stop polluting the ocean! That's one way! This is not right! We have to save them professor, we HAVE to!" Nika tried thinking things over in her head. "Could we use magic to save them professor!?!" Nika truly hoped it was possible."Ew whales? Eating them? huh? That is just wrong!" The idea of eating whale was utterly repulsive in Nika's mind. She raised her hands and put them in front her body. "Professor I'm going vegetarian from now on."

Hm... Not a piranha eh? Interesting...
Kita walked along and looked up at the huge creature suspended in mid air. Her jaw dropped. Was that a whale? "Woah!" she whispered, her eyes transfixed on the whale. A weird feeling broke over her when the Professor said that they were endangered. "That's so sad!" she said, "Why can't people just leave them alone instead of killing them for their pleasure?" It was things like these that made her sad. Truly sad. "And people need to stop polluting the waters," she said, "Because that's not good for the other fishes as well."
Gasping, she gaped at the Professor. People actually eat these whales? Whao! "I'm a vegetarian so i've never eaten one before," she said, shaking her head.
Jacob stared at the Whale... Oh My Merlin. Ginormous!
Whales were so cool, they can sing horribly and nobody cares, cause they're just that awesome. But he still had questions of their awesomeness. "But professor, why is it called a Blue Whale if it's grey." cause their just awesome? or was it cause scientists are color blind? "And how did they get it into the building?" yeah explain that.

Jaina sighed as she looked at the whale. She knew all to well about these wonderful creatures for they were her favorite that inhabitted this Earth. "Whales are hunted for their blubber and oil. It's sold on the black market at extrememly high prices because it is against the law to hunt them. Scientists have marked several species of whale, including this one, to learn more about them. We now know their migration patterns, their breeding grounds, their feeding grounds, and where they tend to be hunted," she said with a sigh. Some scientists did good, but then there were others. "Currently, the blue whale is under the protection of the World Wildlife Federation. People donate money to the federation in order to protect them. They also have a program where you can adopt a whale and they'll send you information about the whale at least once a month," she stated with some pride. See that, no magic! "Oh, and I would never eat whale. Never ever!" This Hufflepuff was loyal to her favorite creature.

Riley just stopped and staired at the massive beast. He had never seen anything so big in his life, even that gaint dinosaur from the gallery before had nothing on this whale. His eyes followed all one hundred and eight feet of its body as he listened to the Professor speak about it.
Aww that was sad that it was endangered. "Professor us being witches and wizards why don't we just place concealment charms on them all so no one can kill them?" Pretty obvious to him, why hadn't anyone over in the Ministry think of that one? And why would he want to eat something that big?! He was never that hungry but possibly they could use it for the Beginning of term feast if she really wanted to try it...

"You can get stuffed animals with the adoptions too! The World Wildlife Federation protects all sorts of animals. Non-magical ones, that is. But we could also help protect them by not polluting the oceans like we do."
She sighed.
"I can't understand why anyone would eat whale. Nowadays, at least. But I can't understand why anyone eats any other animals either."

Emily looked up at the Blue Whale... it was.... big.... very big... large in fact.
Once she had enough of looking at it, she made a quick sketch in her note books and jotted down a couple of notes.
Raising her hand she said to the Professor, "Well... Professor I heard that whale blubber is a particularly useful resource in the muggle world, so they hunt whales to obtain it. Also in many cultures such as Japan..", she knew for a fact the Australian government were having difficulties stopping Japan from whale hunting in their waters- Japan claiming it was in the name of scientific research... cods walop!........she continued..." they also hunt whales for their meat."
Emily looked up at the whale again, she couldn't imagine herself eating it. Just the thought of it made her sad.
"I don't think I could ever bring myself to eat Whale.... its just too sad.", she said out loud.
Jaina smiled at Charley. Another whale lover! Though Jaina wouldn't sit and eat whale, she had no problem with cows! She leaned over to Charley and whispered, "Because they're good with ketchup and mustard." She then gave her a wink!

Belle heard their conversation and whispered to Charley, "Well Charley, some people eat animals to get protiens from their meat sometimes, and sometimes it is in a religious process to eat or not eat the animal." she shrugged. "But i think eating whale would be disgusting though, come to think of it." she imagined it and shuddered. "But i know what you are talking about, i have one stuffed animal like that in my room." she smiled brightly.

"Somehow I doubt that, but I'll buy it for now," she whispered back, then redirected her attention back to Professor Saylen. They didn't need to be getting in any more trouble.

"Any of you eaten whale before?" Hm? Hehehe.
Merlin!
Sierra paused right in her tracks and stared at the humongous creature dangling from the ceiling. She'd hate to come across that thing while swimming around in the water! Grindylows looked like flobberworms next to it!
...and now the professor was asking for ways to help prevent the endangerment of this thing. Who in the name of Merlin caused danger to something that big in the first place?! That's what Sierra wanted to know. Her gaze changed to some Gryffindor boy who suggested the Concealment Charm. "The Concealment Charm might work--yeah," she agreed. "Isn't that what they use for Yeti?"
She made a face when the professor asked if she'd ever eaten whale before. No, she hadn't, and it didn't look very appetizing either.

That....was....GINORMOUS.
Snapsnapsnapsnap.
Not that multiple pictures would make any difference...it was just so huge, Ellie felt the need to take them.
They were endangered? How the hell did something kill it...it was just too big. Not possible.
EAT?! Did she say eat? "Ewwwwwwwwwwwww," Ellie said, wrinkling her nose. Very mature, we know. But who would eat one of THOSE? "That can't taste good...it's all...blubbery..."
GAG.

Emily suddently realised she hadn't actually answered the Professors question.
"I suppose its a muggle issue, not a magic issue... so really the muggles need to do something to protect them. Stop them from being hunted and maybe set up some sort of breeding program to help increase their numbers. Tracking their movements would also be useful because then they would be able to monitor where they are, where they go and what daqngers they might be in because of that."
Ah. "Interesting idea. Not bad, but the limb is not specifically used like that." Good ideas all around!

Luin looked in awe of the replica of the blue whale. It was amazing that something could be that....huge. She finally managed to tear her eyes away from it and listened to the questions the teacher put forth. She thought about her answer, "Perhaps by monitoring and specifically saying that no one can hunt them or anything. If that is the reason they are becoming endangered." she paused, "Never tried whale, don't think i've ever been anywhere that has it."

"We can use magic to protect them the same ways we protect our own creatures." She rocked back and forth on her heels repeatedly. Brown eyes on the whale strung from the ceiling. It's such a beautiful creature, and the young girl was a bit saddened by the fact that there was so few of them.
Arya made a face and looked at Saylen. "I'd never eat them." Gross.

Christopher thought hard about how to keep the Blue Whale from being extinct. That all depended on if they were doing it the Muggle or Wizarding way. Though when the professor said 'we', he figured she meant wizards. "Couldn't we put protective charms on the such as the Fidelius Charm, or the Protego Totalum?" Perhaps that would suffice, but he couldn't be sure if that had the same effect on a whale or not.
When the professor mentioned eating a whale, Christopher shuddered. Not only did the sound unappetizing, but he was a vegetarian, and would never dare eat an innocent animal.

"I have a lot of them. Mum and Dad used to get them for my brothers and I all the time."
