Charms III [by the Forbidden Forest]

The third Charms lesson is going to take place, as announced, outside the Forbidden Forest. There's a bonfire-of-sorts cackling on the ground, and protective spells have been placed around it, so it cannot hurt anyone or anything. Round it are placed soft, low hay bales to serve as seats.

Jared is seated on one of the hay bales, waiting for the students to arrive. Lying next to him, upside-down, is a kitten that opens its eyes and looks at each student as it arrives.

OOC: The lesson has not yet started. Feel free to RP your characters arriving. Characters talking to each other is fine, as long as it's not over-done. ^_^
Lesson has started.

OOC Index:

Helena was scared.

She almost sprinted to the place the next Charms lesson was going to be, until she found professor Descoteaux. "Hello, professor," she said, trying to smile, until... a grin appeared on her face. "... and super adorable kitten!" Eeeeep! It was cuuuuute! "Is it yours?"

HaRoHeGiNeLu 03-14-2011 04:52 AM

Ellie strolled out near the Forbidden Forest ENTRANCED by the fire. Fires were cool. They were just so...FIRE.

Tearing her eyes off of it, and then squinting through the spots the fire made in her line of vision, she spotted Little Professor and sat RIGHT next to him.

A few blinks later and she saw the kitty.

GASP.

"Little Professor!! Do you realize you're holding a kitten?!" He just sooo didn't seem like the kitten type. Lion, maybe, but not kitten.

She reached across his lap and stroked it. "Pretty kitty."

Angie 03-14-2011 04:57 AM

Greer McKensie LOVED the grounds, she did! She loved them so much that she made a point to spend most of her time frolicking around the lake with Prince Eric the crup trailing after her, instead of doing her homework.

She did not, however, loved the forbidden forest.

Looking uncharacteristically sober, McKensie followed the line of students the headed towards the class in silence. When she reached her destiny, Greer shot the forest a wary, long look. She'd heard from older students that there were even werewolves in there. What if she got bitte--OOOHHHHH

KITTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Professor Descoteaux!" Squealed the second year, linking her hands together and putting them below her chin. "Your kitten is so adorable! Would it upset it too terribly if I pet it? Or am I not supposed to? Were we allowed to bring our own pets? I would have brought Prince Eric, then!" Happily, the curly haired blonde got closer to the small furry creature. "So cute!"

"I am?" Jared asked. Then he added, "I knew letting it follow me could have its uses." So now any and all fangirls could just look at the kitten and have an awesome time, and he'd be left alone and in peace.

Or maybe not. "I'm sure it's not going to be upset," Jared said, looking at how satisfied the little kitten seemed at all the attention, and deciding not to correct the Gryffindor about him not being the owner of the kitten.

"I suppose you could have." Though if all the students started bringing pets, then the class might turn into some sort of zoo. Jared could just see students tripping over out-of-control pets left and right and center. So, on second thought -- "It might have taken the focus off the lesson, though." Translation? Do not bring your pet, child. Do not.

Eeeeeep!

Now the super-cute-adorable creature was rubbing its head against her leg!

It was... just... too cuuuuute!

Helena bent down to stroke the kitten, then looked again at professor Descoteaux. "So... I guess it doesn't have a name, does it?"

Crossing the grounds, Patroclus spotted where the class was to be held quite easily......the bonfires were a dead give away.

The Lion Prefect had made sure he was completely well fed before arriving, last time he was near a bonfire, we was being starved to death.....silly hotdogs!

Breaking into the circle of firelit Patroclus grinned at Professor D, "Hello Sir," then spotted a haybale that seemed to be a nice distant from the fire and sat on it.

Wooo Charms!

"Has it really?" Ellie asked, hearing what he'd said to the other girl. "Awwww. It LIKES you. You HAVE to keep it." Totally. And she'd take super good care of it if he didn't want to himself. Not.

She took her camera, which was hanging around her neck, and took a picture of the kitty.

Hehehe.

If ONLY it was a puppy. Or there was ALSO a puppy. Yeah.

Roselyn 03-14-2011 05:03 AM

Well, she certainly was more for night classes now that the weather was warming up and all, but did it have to be charms? Unless they were learning how to charm fire to fly into creative patterns, lighting up the night sky, she had no idea what could possibly be learned during the night time that they couldn't learn during the day.

However, she trudged down to the grounds near the...forbidden forest...wearing a dark jacket and comfortable shoes, as well as her school uniform of course. It was still a class after all. Yet...once she saw that fire...

FIRE!!! O_O!

Holy Merlin, was it her lucky night or WHAT!? Eyes gleaming and with a pretty little smirk on her face, Evelyn sprinted ran jogged the rest of the way down to the lesson and STOOD in front of the fire to STARE at it.

STARE.

pundantic 03-14-2011 05:05 AM

Selina walked along the edge of the Forbidden Forest. She had never been so close before. As she looked around for her class she saw a dim light in the distance. Once she followed the light she found herself in the midst of company for Charms. Before she could even notice her teacher she saw the kitten, "Kittie! Oh my Merlin you are too cute." Selina ran over and smiled.

Noticing her surroundings she cleared her voice and said, "Sorry, hello Professor."

"Not yet," Jared confirmed, as the kitten rubbed its head against the Slytherin's hand. "I'll think of something, though."

Assuming he let it follow him around, of course. Because he couldn't just call it The Kitten That Follows, then.

Flash.

The kitten blinked, and looked at Ellie, biiiig-eyed.

Jared shrugged.

Good thing the fire had been charmed. Knowing these students, anything could happen.

The kitty must be continuing to enjoy the attention, because it purred and tried to get closer to the girl that had run over.

"It's fine," Jared grinned lazily. He hadn't expected the kitten to be that admired, but he supposed he should have. "Hello, Selina."

Huh?

Blinking finally, the Slytherin girl turned her head just the slightest towards whoever spoke, and it was only a few seconds later did it register in her mind that it was the professor. "Mmmuhhuh." she mumbled, hazel eyes (that looked more orange considering the FIRE right there) glancing to the OMGADORABLE kitten laying right there before turning back to the light of all lights in front of her. Hmmmm.

Sitting. Sitting sounded good now. Sit and stare.

It looks like it followed him. Little Professor most definitely wouldn't have bought it. Like she was thinking earlier, he wasn't a kitty person.

Now that he had one in his possession, however, "You HAVE to." Keep it, that is. It's a must. "Little Professor, it CHOSE you. You can't just abandon it now." No, no, no, no, no.

Ama 03-14-2011 05:29 AM

Charms was possibly one of her favorite subjects, aside from the typical answer: Defense Against the Dark Arts. Although, Lulu Patterson was still quite fascinated by Potions. That was just a magic all on its own but she digresses. Charms was one of the subjects she got excited over, this lesson in particular shook every fiber of her 12 year old self. It was a night class; a night class outside; by the Forbidden Forest.

That pretty much was the epitome of exciting.

Lulu bundled up a little more than she would for classes. After all, it got cold outside when the sun would set. She also brought along her pet ferret, Sir Robin, as a precautionary method. He was good at sensing danger and she was good at NOT WANTING TO DIE. It was a beneficial relationship for both of them. Patterson was vaguely aware that one wasn't supposed to bring pets along for classes but since this wasn't a classroom she figured the hygienic problem was discarded.

And even if pets WEREN'T allowed--well, the Professor should have stated that. Explicitly. Except he didn't. So he wasn't explicit. So Lulu Patterson was going to bring Sir Robin, her possibly kleptomaniac ferret with an innate ability to sense danger and possibly Dark magic with her.

Because, as previously stated, she was really really good at NOT WANTING TO DIE.

She sprinted the last five feet towards the Forbidden Forrest and arrived breathless and red-faced. There were some girls there already and speaking to the Professor. There was a kitten laying down next to him, upside down and looking possibly dead. It started her for a moment until she saw the kitten's belly rising and falling by the light of the flames of the bonfire nearby.

You're holding a kitten, had said a girl. Lulu side-eyed her from where she stood, stuffing Sir Robin's head back into the inside pocket of her robes. Holding him? "He's not holding it," mumbled Lulu as a correction. She wasn't sure if the girl heard or not but really, was the girl confused? It was dark outside. It was also always possible she suffered from night blindness; what an unfortunate soul.

It wasn't probably near as unfortunate as Greer McKensie, screeching in her vicinity. Lulu wrinkled her nose and covered Sir Robin's ears now that he had peaked his head out again. More girls showed up and giggled and cooed and generally barfed and farted invisible hearts made of pheromones and icky hormones.

Lulu made a pushing gesture in front of herself as if to ward off any of the bubble slash heart farts from exploding on her. Sir Robin wound himself around her neck, blinking its beady eyes at the loud femmes.

"Disgusting," said Lulu definitively and walked away to sit by the fire because it was better to be near the light and the lesser of two evils since it wasn't exactly safe.

One could always catch fire. How troublesome would that be?

Angie 03-14-2011 05:40 AM

The professor was talking about something or the other, but she was no longer paying attention. Insted, McKensie was pushing her curls away from her face, and bending down to tickle the kitten's furry belly with her small fingers. Giggling, the girl made a string of cooing noises before backing away. There was a rather large number of people gathering around the creature, and Greer knew enough about animals than to stay near one while it was surrounded by strangers. Animals were territorial and could grow upset if they felt cornered, and she did not want to see if the kitten would take all the overwhelming attention kindly.

She did not wish to test how sharp its small claws could be. Spotting a surly-looking Lulu and Bravely Bold Sir Robin, McKensie skipped her way towards her friend to join her. "Hello, Sir Robin," Greer curtsied comically before patting the ferret's head and sitting on the hay bale nearest Lulu

Oh Merlin! It was such an adorable kitty! She wanted to pet! K-Lee really wanted to pet it. "Hello kitty!" She said to the cat. K-Lee moved closer to the kitty and she watched the kitty, enthralled by the adorableness.

"Oh and, hello to you too professor." K-Lee had almost forgotten that there was a professor there too. She blushed slightly.

Lockhartian 03-14-2011 05:42 AM

we LOVE you Maxie, remember that.

Sigh. Charms.

He HATED Charms, like, seriously. But he'd never miss an opportunity to be in or near the Forbidden Forest, though, he could skip the Acromantulas anytime, never mind how fun the memories were.

That's why his face held a bored expression, because of the subject of the lesson. Yes, there was fire, and he LOVED fire very much, it reminded him of Fletcher for some reason, but this was NO Divination, so, yes, no excitement. :P

"Evening, Professor," he said, taking the closest seat available to the Forbidden Forest.

He narrowed his eyes at the cat, a bit, only a bit. Was he trying to be cool like Mr. Stryker? Because he won't succeed. Only one cooler than Stryker...was...yeah...never mind.

Hera 03-14-2011 05:44 AM

Emily walked across the grounds to the edge of the forbidden forest where Professor Descoteux was sitting on a hay bale...
"Hello professor", she said as she arrived.
"Hello kitty", she said as she looked down at the adorable little kitten.

Taking a seat not far from them she gazed into the fire, it was comforting and soothing. Emily almost felt as if she needed a cup of hot chocolate, just to complete the scene. Instead she took out her notebook and a quill, ready for what ever it is the Professor had in store for them.

"It doesn't look like I have much of a choice, does it?" Jared asked, grinning. Must be an easy life, being a kitten. Pick a professor at random, attach self to him, and let his students tell him he couldn't abandon such a kitten and viola, you have a home.

Jared thought of telling her that no, pets are not allowed in class, then looked at the kitten and, thinking of all the possible counter-questions that one statement could lead to, decided against it.

Violet ran towards the area where Charms class was being held today clapping her hands eagerly. She loved Charms so much and she was beyond excited about today's lesson. Violet saw the Professor and smiled as she eagerly went towards him, seeing an adorable kitten with him. She waved eagerly to the Professor and said brightly,"Hello Professor Descoteaux! I hope you're day is going wonderful!" Violet then looked at the kitten and then said,"Professor, please tell me this kitten is yours..If so it is one of the cutest animals I've seen..next to my kitten of course but still...Anyways I'm sorry, I'm really looking forward to class today!" She smiled brightly at Professor Descoteaux.

Grumbling to herself as she made her way down to where Charms was being held, Mia wrapped her arms tighter around herself. It may be April but it was still cold especially at nights.

What was with the classes being held outside? And at night?

Did the Professor's have something against being in a classroom?

Passing Professor Descoteux, Mia gave him a half hearted wave and smile. "Hey Professor." She glanced around at the students already there and then made her way over and sat down beside Emily. She remembered the older girl from other classes.

Mia gave the girl a small nod in acknowledgement and tossed her bag onto the ground. It wasn't usually like her to be in a bad mood but she had been feeling this way for the last few days and it wasn't getting any better.
