Sierra paused right in her tracks and listened carefully to what the professor was saying. Her brown eyes scanned the area, and she imagined rocks, roots, and other things that may or may not actually be there. Just thinking about the concept made her head hurt, and so she turned back to the professor with her hand raised in the air.

"It's a charm used to hide something, like a magical creature or object from a Muggle," she answered. "It actually causes an object to blend into whatever is behind it." Again, she glanced around the area, wondering just what, if anything, was lurking behind a Disillusionment Charm.

Elektra raises her eyebrow at the Bloody Baron. "Death? Are we supposed to spooked out by that?" Elektra said almost coldly under her breath. What was going on with Elektra? She never acted like this. She wanted to look at Selina and Violet, but couldn't.

The Baron's voice was as cold and rich as ever.


"Death," the Baron said coldly.

Kyle gulped as the Bloody Baron answered sc-scary she nodded knowing not to fall in. "I won't fall in then," she remarked eyes large with fear.

"The disillusionment charm is a charm that makes ones body or an inanimate look and mirror the objects behind it. Giving off the image of the person or object in question not actually being there." Kyle nodded, her voice squeaky with fear of the pool of death. "The disillusionment ch-charm isn't that wh-what they use on c-comet 360's?" She asked, stammering in fear.

Kurumi squeaked, perhaps a little too loudly, at the Baron's response and jumped backwards behind Patroclus. As she did, her foot caught on a small log and she tripped over it, falling backwards onto the ground at the prefect's feet. The log, however, began to roll towards the lake...

SPLASH!

The log was in the water.

Kyle watched the log not float at the top as she'd expected it to, but fizz and sink to the bottom. Oooh don't fizz me to death she thought. Whimpering ducking out of the way of the splashing water. Maybe the water was deadly? Maybe it was a large pool of the draught of sleeping death - who knew.

Being near the stream they were cautioned not to step closer to made Cedric a little uneasy. They were only feet away from the stream and basing it on the professor's tone, the stream seemed like it wouldn't let one escape or be rescued when one tripped onto it. It was scary. Scarier from what he'd seen so far.

And the professor told them about the ground. Was it Disillusioned? "The Disillusionment Charm causes color blending, same as the Bedazzling hex, making the object or person mimic the appearance of its surroundings." He finished, heaving a faint sigh as a soft breeze blew behind his neck.

Then, there was a loud splash. He looked around, his gaze rather wary which eventually landed upon a rather frightened girl. What had fallen into the water? Oh, no.

Kyle noticed Cedric's look, "it was a log." She whispered, just letting him know there was no need to be all nervy all was well - for now.

Alex's attention had been focused on the talking group of girls as they continued along with their trek--if they caused a werewolf to stumble upon them because they were being loud he was not going to be happy! His attention was diverted to the Baron, however, when he warned them not to fall in the stream. Oh, don't worry Mister Baron. Alex planned on staying FAR from there.

He raised his hand at the professors question with a smile. "It's like an invisibility cloak, but not really. It basically allows you to blend into your surroundings, like a chameleon, so you look invisible," he explained.

Oooo, K-Lee knew the answer! "It turns you into a human chameleon! When you have the charm on you, you blend into the background." Just like that evil guy in Monsters Inc. K-Lee was full of movie, especially Disney references. Which was odd because she was pure-blood... Hmmm...

What was that! K-Lee heard someone nearby tell someone else that it was a log, and she instantly calmed down. She hoped no one would fall in, especially herself. She really didn't want to die.

Chloe was finding this whole excursion into the Forbidden with the Bloddy Baron at lead.rather awesome. The eirie sounds and the sights of the night forrest before them just added took just how cool this experience was. As they reached a certain area within the forrest the class came took a hault. She soon heard the professor once more talking about how this area was bumpy even though it did not look it. Something was definately off and when she heard the professor ask what say dissolutionment charm is she quickly put two and two together. With her hand raisef high,
"Well a disolutionment charm changes the thing or things it is placed.on took completely blend in with the surrounding area and thus we cannot see the rough terrain but we certainly can feel it", Chloe responded as she carefully started took explore the area for a bit being very carefull took stay away from the water.

Kurumi heard a low hissing noise that she assumed was coming from the log that was now in the pool of death. She peeked her head around Patroclus just enough to see the Bloody Baron glaring at all of them.

She then turned her attention to the Professor, who had asked a question earlier...but she had been a little distracted by the pool of death.

"P-P-Professor," Kurumi said raising her hand from behind Patroclus. "A-A Disillusionment Charm that is used to hide something. As was mentioned, it causes an object to take on the appearance of what is behind it, therefore rendering it invisible. I've read it is a common spell used when making Invisibility Cloaks." She paused to peek a her head around the opposite side and look at the lake.

Creepy...really really creepy...

"Um...P-Professor, what is the difference between the Disillusionment Charm and the Bedazzling Hex?" Besides the use of charm and hex in the name that is.

Helena suddenly stopped by that really dark water, where professor Descoteaux told them to stop. But just then... she heard the Bloody Baron say something about DEATH. Maybe it was better to step away a little bit. Just to be sure.

"The Disillusionment charm is a spell that makes the object or the person... invisible," the girl said, but she was kind of rambling. "I mean... not exactly invisible, but the spell helps you hide something, or turn it into something like a chameleon." That was a bit better, wasn't it?

Cedric almost jumped as someone whispered to him. He raked a hand through his tangling curly hair. "A log? Oh, right. Well, that was a relief."

Difference between the Disillusionment Charm and the Bedazzling Hex? Cedric turned to the professor, expecting an enlightening answer from the guy. "There's no difference between the two, sir, right? Or if there is, nobody can tell." But yeah, the professor might have a better answer that would enlighten them all.

Kyle nodded, "Indeed it is a relief." She sighed, and listened to what he had said in return to Kurumi's question. Good point there.

There was this girl from Ravenclaw who seemed too excited that she couldn't keep to herself. How annoying. Elle rolled her eyes at that person, knowing very well that that student couldn't see her do it, and kept walking until Professor told them to stop. There was a beautiful stream, the dark water gently flowing with many stones surrounding it. Suddenly, a log cam up and blocked some part of the stream. Bother, it was already so marvelous without it.., she thought.

The Baron's words sent a chill up her spine. Elle shook the negative thought away.

She almost squealed at the near encounter of a spider web. She swiftly got her wand from her robes, pointed it at the arachnid and muttered "Depulso." The spider was sent away with its web. Elle sighed with relief. She just hoped that if Professor saw her performing the spell, he would just let it pass, give her extra credit (cross fingers!) or understand its urgency and that it was legal.

The First Year raised her hand and smiled. "The Disillusionment Charm hides something. It works like a chameleon, blending with its surroundings. It is usually cast to hide special creatures and anything related to the wizarding world from muggles. It's also known as the Invisibility Cloak in other words. It is also used to creat an illusion, not to remove one."

Emily gulped nervously... she wasn't exactly the most steady footed person... always had a knack for walked into things, tripping over things and just being plain clumsy. Fingers crossed she wouldn't fall into the stream... death... was.... bad.

Why was death in the stream?... or was it just something so dangerous that it may as well have been death???

"Eh,"

Um...that's an easy question.

"A Disillusionment Charm makes you blend in to your surroundings." Savannah said simply and in the easiest way. "And," she added. "It is the most common way to make an invisibility cloak, my dad told me so." She smirked just a tiny bit, which can't be seen with a naked eye.

Belle got the shivers and immediatley curled up into her coat even more. She put her hood up. She didn't think she was being impolite..but maybe she was.

Belle raised her hand, she asked "Isn't a disillusionment charm a charm where you invisible but you blend into your surroundings?"

Why were they here?, why were they here?, why were they here?! she kept thinking as she walked along. She wasn't scared, she was a Gryffindor, she was just... nervous.
"A disillusionment charm allows you to blend into the surroundings behind you, like a Chameleon, so your not invisible but no-one can see you."
She answered, but got distracted, so she tripped up on a tree root.
"I'm ok" she quickly added, though no-one was listening...

Emily gazed at the stream and grabbed Nika's wrist tight. She didn't even realise she was probably hurting her, she just hated water and you didn't have to tell her twice not to go near it.
"Death..." she whispered. It was not a question, she was agreeing with him. She knew water was a death trap after that time she had almost drowned, and frankly she didn't want it to ever happen again.
She stayed close to Nika, but refused to take her eyes off the path below her. She wasn't going to die today.

Arya was so busy STARING at the stream of death, behind Destiny of course, that she almost missed the question that was posed to them. "That's the-" The charm Truebridge was supposed to help her learn before he'd left for some other place she couldn't remember. Not that she held any ill will towards the man for it. He was still one of her favorites. "It's a charm used to hide creatures and objects in plain sight. Humans too." She belatedly raised her hand. "Feels funny when its cast on you."

"It makes you appear invisible?"She have her best guess. The name disillusionment was a big hint. Nika looked at the stream. She took her teachers warning seriously. Nika was not about to let her clumsiness kick in. Not now.

"Ow." Nika pulled her hand towards her. "Er Emily I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm going to stand further back. Like over there." Nika pointed at a tree that was at a safe distance away from the stream. "You know me. I'm just about the clumsiest person ever. I've been to the hospital wing twice so far. And it's only our first year! So I want to make sure I don't fall in. That would be bad. Very bad." Nika backed up while she talked. No falling in for her, not today.

"Oh sorry" Emily replyed looking back at Nika.
"Uh, I think I'll come too" she added quickly following Nika a safe distance away. "It's just... I have a bad phobia of water. Very bad..."
That's why she'd never been close to the black lake yet. Too much water...

Couldn't they just cast the counter curse or break the charm? Kyle thought, looking at the ground near the edge of the path. Kneeling down, so her knees were planted into the dirt of the small dirt path - so she had less of a chance of falling she poked her hand out, hitting a rock. A loose very disillusioned rock - she couldn't see it, but she could hear it and see the feint ripple of the background moving around it - so she knew generally where it was.

Eep. That was nearly on the path she thought eyes wide. Scuttling backwards away from the edge and standing up she dusted off her knees, hands, and all of her legs - and every bit of clothing that had touched the dirt.

"Could we break the charm or curse whichever it is?" She asked, intrigued, bewildered, and scared at the same time.

"Mr.Baron? When you say "Death", do you mean that touching the water will kill you, or that this stream itself houses Death himself? A Disillussionist Charm is something that turns something that was once not invisible, invisible..... In a way, professor. A demiguise has that ability, that's why they make the invisibility cloaks out of their hair. But, unlike the invisibility cloak, which can be removed, the charm has to be removed by a skillled charmsmen. Not unlike yourself, sir." He knew that last comment was a little cheesy, but it was true. He knew it. The students should know it by now. Over the course of a year, the professor had taught them many spells while having fun at the same time. The professor had found the perfect way of teaching them something that could be alot more boring. He did enable them to take this little journey into a once scary place, and he did give them chocolate frogs, and the water balloon fight that he had missed, regrettably.

He moved a little closer to the steam and waved his wand over the ground seeing nothing but stones. Benjamin picked up a great handful and started tossing them into the stream one at a time until one stayed suspended in midair. There was a bridge to cross over the stream. Something he had not expected to find. "Professor? Did you know there was a bridge there? To cross the stream safely?"

The Baron ignored the children. The silver luminescence lighting up the dark stream dimmed as he floated away and out of sight.

There was a frown in the dark eyes.

Bubbles erupted on the surface. Something hissed. There was a flash of white, almost like a skeletal hand, and the log disappeared into the depths of the stream.

Silver light streamed down over the lake again as the Baron returned. The scuttling sound of something coming up behind, slowly but surely, had begun to grow louder.

He glanced at the girl and then looked at the Charms professor.

"Leave," he said, and glided away.
