Beneath the Hatch - Under the Lake

Hidden under a rug in the Slytherin Common Room is a hatch that leads under the lake. The water is warm, as it was just warmed up, but there is no exit to the outside. A glow from a few fish is illuminating the way.

ooc: This is just a fun way for the Snakes to spend some time with their HoH. Although I want you to have fun, there are a few rules:

• All SS Rules Apply.
• No fighting underwater
• No hurting your own character (I can't flood the Hospital wing with hurt babies)
• There is no talking in this thread, the way to communicate is through gestures such as:
  

  Hecate waved over the student as if to say Come on slow pokes.

SPLASH! Emma was not in the common room anymore, she was in the Lake. Well underneath. She felt something grow in between her fingers and feet. Watching her feet and hands she saw that they had been turned into webbed hands and feet. Wow! And the blonde Malfoy could breathe again! She looked around to see anyone and saw Lafay waving over to her and the other students. She swam towards her.

AIIIIR! he could breath!

It was strange saying he could actually breath under water. He watched how he felt his fingers and feet grew some kind of webbed things and he touched his neck to feel slits. He did a dive roll just because he felt like it before he saw Emma and swam towards her. Hyun saw her swimming to their head of house and thought it would be a good idea to stick close, he didn't want to be alone when the gillyweed had worked out. What if he it did ?! he couldn't swim to the top because the top layer was frozen with ice. Eeek!

Emma heard someone else swimming towards her. It was Hyun! Man, she thought he had already beat everyone to the end. She waved and smiled at him. Too bad they didn't have powers that enabled them to talk under water. She followed his gaze up to the layer of ice at the top of the Lake. Woah.. Hyun looked really worried. She tried to give him another small smile and a reassuring nod that the gillyweed would work and that they'd make it out okau.

Whoa, whoa, whoa now.

Alex was having an epiphany. If he could be super cool on land, he should be able to be ninja under water as well, right? Although, how could someone be cool with freaking fish hands?

He waved his hands in front of his face as to see that they worked, it hadn't even crossed his brilliant mind that he could breathe under water.

Until then. He gasped of surprise and joy that he could breathe under water. The action caused him fill his mouth up with water so he immediatly closed it put a finger to his mouth as to say 'whoops' and started to swim towards the other Snakeys, just using his legs to get there.

Why? Because he could.

And down she went, underwater and began flapping her feet which were now webby. She stayed waddling nearby, waiting for more students to come in.

Selena slipped into the water, completely terrified. Her violet eyes reflected her fear clearly and as she went under she closed her eyes. Sluggishly, she opened one eye before the other. She saw the professor waiting and glanced around before seeing Emma. Emma! Ah yes! If she died, her bestie would save her right?

Selena quickly flapped her arms and legs quickly trying to make herself move towards Emma. Needless to say, Selena was challenged in water... seeing as she would probably die. WAIT. She couldn't die... right? She sure hoped not. She made herself visible to Emma and continued to wave her arms and pretending to die. Because, y'know, that was what Sel was probably going to do... Eep.

Katie took one last breath before she enetered the Lake, she stepped into the water and watched as her hands and feet into some webby thing, she felt her neck, her neck, it was, scalish, she could breathe as well, how odd, Katie swam over to the group of students and Professor LaFay and smiled to them as if saying 'Hello' but of course she couldn't talk, so she hoped they understood what she was trying to tell them.

Emma turned around to here someone coming again. AND it was her partner in crime (Alex), Sel (her bestie), and Katie (her friend)! Wow! She grinned and smiled at her super, awesome hyper bestie. Emma cocked her head to one side, Sel didn't look to good. She swam towards her to see if she was okay. The blonde now wished she had telepathy. She put on a worried expression as if to ask her best friend if she was okay.

Benjamin swallowed the gillyweed and dropped into the water. It was unseasonably warm andhe spotted students swimming to the left and he followed them. He stopped close to Professor Lafay and waved at her with a huge smile on his face. He then pointed at the middle of his chest and gave her a thumbs up.

Elle swallowed the gillyweed and jumped into the lake. The surge of warm water made her feel refreshed. She felt her skin changing, transforming into what seemed like... slimy skin, gills and webbed feet and hands. Cool. Hehe.

She looked at the direction towards the kids, and saw Professor Lafay somewhere near her. At least she was safe because this redhead wasn't well, a good swimmer. She could swim and float, yes. But when she panicked in water, nothing but worry would fill her mind. Elle swam a little far away from the "school" of fishy-witch-or-wizard students, hoping to discover many unusual creatures.

Selena was not feeling well being a freaking fish. She felt exactly the way a fish would feel on land - doomed. She attempted to wave at Katie, but she was definitely not trusting herself to... It was her first time after all and she really wasn't sure why she was going into the water if she couldn't even swim. Eep. she was so dead...

The second Sierra hit the water, she started flapping her arms and legs around. She had built herself up to believe this would be a really unusual experience, nothing like regular swimming at all, and so it took her a bit of time to adjust to her surroundings and realize this wasn't going to be so difficult after all.

Her eyes grew wide at the site of her webby hands and feet. She'd heard about gillyweed, but she'd never actually seen anyone use it. Ready to test out her new features, Sierra kicked her feet, propelling herself forward just a little bit. At least she was out of the way of the hatch's opening now, and she wouldn't be dived on when someone else decided to join them.

Good, they were going great so far. Hecate swam down a bit, motioning for the others to follow. A school of large fish followed her quickly and a large one passed beneath her. She grabbed onto it and made it take her further. She hoped the rest of the snakes would do the same.

Jamie had dived in and found that it was pretty awesome to be able to do something like this. She watched as the HoH, or Professor Lafay as she recalled, grabbed a fish and she caught one in mimic. She looked around her at the amazing sight. This was what magic was all about.

Sierra paused in the water and turned around to face the other snakes who had already dived inside. She would have spoken, or at least gestured to, some of the others, but she didn't actually know who any of them were. Not yet, that is. Even though she'd been in school for nearly half a school year, she still hadn't gotten around to meeting everyone in her house just yet. She didn't imagine a lake full of water was the best place to meet someone either. All she could do was possibly smile and wave.

She did think she saw a few people who were on the Quidditch team with her, but it was kind of hard to make out faces with all the charms and gillyweed taking their effect. Lafay swam by at that point, though, and it wasn't difficult at all to pick her out. Sierra had seen the woman around enough to be able to recognize her, gills and all. Oh, and look! She was zooming by on the tail of a fish! Whoa! That looked pretty awesome! Reaching out, Sierra grabbed onto the nearest tail she could reach and zoomed off, as well. She laughed, or tried to, as her fish went faster and faster.

It was nice to be able to be somewhere and not have to worry about homework, classes, or just pre-teen things in general.

Seeing Professor Lafay riding on a creature's back, Elle decided to do the same. She looked around her and saw many fish swimming towards her. OH NO! They swam past her and made Elle loose her balance in water. She flipped and luckily, a large creature swam by. The redhead took the opportunity to grab onto it. SUCCESS! The animal was quite slimy, but who cares! At least she had a ride.

Trying to control it somehow, she followed the other students. The First Year spotted some mermaids swimming among the tall seaweeds and a few other creatures she had never seen. How amazing the Lake was.... the beauty of it all!

Hyun swam around for a few minutes while waiting for the other students to come down the hatch too. It didn't take long before some where brave enough and jumped in too. He turned around just in time to see their head of house grab the fin of a fish and took her further in to the water. He also saw the other students doing the same thing and swam away with full speed.

Not wanting to be left alone, Hyun waited for another school of fish to come and grabbed the largest one by its fins. He zoomed through the water after two first years which one he recoqnized as his quidditch team mate.

After some time, Hyun started to think about ...things... What would happen if the Gillyweed stopped working before they notice the time! Had ANYONE even a watch with them? he knew he didn't.

Still hanging on to the back of her fish, Sierra turned sharply when she saw another girl flipping in the water. That actually looked like a lot of fun, and so Sierra released the tail of the fish she had been riding along with and just spent some time swimming and flipping around. She didn't stay too far behind all the others, though. There would probably be another fish coming along soon anyway, so if she wanted another ride throughout the water, she could just find another tail to grab onto.

She waved at the girl as she watched her fellow snake grab onto the tail of a fish and take off.

...and then one of her fellow Quidditch teammates came zooming by, also attached to the end of a large fish tail. She waved at him, too, and then made an effort to kick through the water with her webbed hands and feet to follow along behind the group. She'd find another fish shortly. For now, she just wanted to swim along slowly and enjoy the water.

It was pretty cool down here!

Benjamin saw Professor Lafay grab onto the fish back and shoot of through the water. He swam close to the fish and grabed ont the back of a big one and shoot down further into the lake. He caught up with the other students and the head of their house and grabbed onto a smaller fish so he wouldn't zoom by Professor Lafay. He loved the feeling of the water rushing through his hair and hoped to do this again.He suddenly began to wonder where they were going and if they could make it back to the hatch.

Alex saw Hyun swim ahead of him and he also noticed another teammate, the firstie who had just killed it at the practises. He grinned at them both but no wait, that was gross. He shouldn't open his mouth, it came in water. Gross, juust gross.

He saw Lafay grab onto a fish of some kind and figured he would do the same, where was the Giant Squid when you needed him? Hijacking a fish that swam close by he sat on its back.

Yeeha!

Nothing happened.

With a slightly embarrassed expression he floated off the poor squished fish and found a bigger one. This one however did move, and he was on his way after Lafay.

Yeeha!

Heh, now he was all cool again. *Pose with the fishy*

Spotting yet another student zooming by her, Sierra figured she better catch up now or else she'd lose the group. She normally wouldn't mind swimming around by herself, but seeing as she was only a first year and had a very limited knowledge of how to use all the charms she could think of, going solo wasn't exactly the best idea. She had no idea how to defeat a grindylow if it happened to come near her.

So when another first year grabbed onto a fish and passed by her, Sierra grabbed onto a fish within the same school and took off, as well.

Seeing Alex, one of her teammates smile at her and get a mouth full of water, Sierra couldn't help but laugh along. Only, she didn't open her mouth when she did so. Taking a drink of this water didn't sound all that appetizing to her. As a matter of fact, it sounded gross. Sierra waved to Alex as he caught up with the group. Heh, he was a funny one. She'd never really talked to him other than out on the pitch, but he seemed cool.

Finally making it the blonde swam through the watter and giggled in her head.This was sooo freaky but cool.Looking around she noticed Alex there. Of course the social butterfly best friend had to be here thehe. Waving over at him she tried a little summersault.Ohh eaaasy one.Yaaay she loooved water and swimming.

And then the Slytherin noticed Lafay riding on a fish and her eyes grew wide.The professor seemed to be in a good mood.How cool.Maybe there was something in the water that made her different?!Would be cool.

Cass stared down into the green murky waters beneath the hatch. She and water didn't go very well...at least whenever she swam alone they don't...

but she didn't want to be a chicken and back out, nuh-uh. So, with her gillyweed in hand, she plunged into the water and mentally panicked.

No need to panic, you had gillyweed, remember? She told herself as she slowly watched her feet turn into something like a frog's and gills grow on her neck.

She opened her eyes and squinted too see clearly until she saw Fee amidst everyone else, watching Lafay...riding on a fish?

She swam towards her. careful not to hit any smaller fish or evil seaweeds...

FEEEEEE~! mentally cried out, hoping that her friend would somehow notice her.

Alex waved back careful not to grin widely this time and just grinned widely without showing his teeth. Which kind of made him look like a madman but he didn't care. He liked Sierra (and her wicked quidditch skills) so she got a madman smile from him.



Alex spotted his best friend, he recognized her glitter ways and blonde curls even though she looked kind of weird with the gillyweed thingy... He waved a little, which made him almost fall of the fish. Therefore he clinged to it, ignoring the glares he got from the fishy's family and hung there for the love of all that was magical. Where was Lafay going?

Alex was hungry, was there anything edible down there?
