"May I have another cookie?" Jenny asked, not wanting to bother Kurumi's conversation with...Raven, right? Jenny couldn't remember if he introduced himself to her or not.

"Sure," Kurumi said handing Jenny the blue box of pumpkin cookies. "Try not to get too full though," Kurumi laughed realizing that she had eaten her fair share as well. "There is going to be loads of delicious things at the opening feast!" She couldn't wait to have some of that pumpkin juice. She had tried making it at home over the summer and failed miserable. She had ended up drinking pumpkin goop for a few days because her mother refused to let her throw it out.

"I guess that is my bravery, or at least a part of it." She paused to listen to the next part of his story. "I wonder why people have things against squibs," Kurumi wondered aloud. She had read about them in her history books.

Zoey wandered around to the back of the train.

Really, it looked exactly the same as the rest of the train. That was usually how trains were designed. Hmm. If she designed a train someday, all the compartments would be different. The seats would be different materials, the wallpaper would be different in each of them, the carpet would be different- the whole nine yards, right down to the kind of screws used.

However, she did not intend to design trains once she got out of school. Nope. Though it might be an interesting backup plan. Honestly, she didn't know what her first plan was but it was always good to have a backup.

She scoped out the rest of the back before deciding to turn around and head the other way.

OH BUT WHAT WAS THAT?!

Bending down, Zoey found a shiny and rather expensive looking bracelet. Ooooh, somebody was gonna be in trouble with their mommy for losing their expensive jewelry. *snicker*

"This is Walnut," she said as she scooped the cat up. "I'm Kurumi." He seemed, agitated. Kurumi glanced down at Walnut. She was going to have to talk with the fur ball later about respecting people's space. "I'm..I'm a second year, in Gryffindor," she said bowing awkwardly. She felt like she was back to being a first year again. A very awkward and clumsy one at that. "Oh, sorry, you don't bow here..um..." she flopped Walnut under her left arm and extended her right. "Sorry, let me start over. Hello, my name is Kurumi and it is nice to meet you." Phew. A somewhat smooth save.

Walnut? It's name was walnut? Wasn't that a Food? Why would people name their animals after food, what were they going to eat it? Thats disguisting, thats a domestic pet, you don't eat domestic pets. Wait she bowed. Bow?... Why bow, he wasn't to be respected... You Don't Respect People who scream at the sight of cake. Thats just not right... Again, Weird Generation.

And again with these full titles... Gryffindor? She might know where Pat is. Jacob smiled. "I'm Jacob, and it's nice to meet you as well." he said and looked at the cat... as long as it didn't scratch he was fine. "Gryffindor, eh? You wouldn't happen to know Patroclus would you?" he asked, hoping she knew him, and knew where he was. Cause Pat would be the most helpful person at the moment... Jacob didn't know whether to be excited or somber about being captain. It was a weird sort of feeling.

She was puzzled by his role model behavior, but when he slipped she knew exactly why. He was Quidditch Captain of the Ravenclaw team. And oddly he did not want that advertised. Of course she could see why. The nonstop questions could have the potential to get very annoying, very fast.

So with her own smirk she added, "Quidditch Captain? It's okay, your secret is safe with me. But I do have one question, what is with all of the secrecy surrounding your title. I mean I could see how questions can get annoying, but that is really awesome that you are..." her voice dropped below a whisper, "...captain."

UGH! Too much of the word had sliped through his lips, and she knew what he was saying. Thats great... Wait she thought it was a secret? If it were a secret, everyone would have known by now (stuff spreads like wild fire here), apparently the only people who knew... and believed that he was captain was Vashti, and this kid. Ellie wasn't going to believe him anytime soon, and JD was gone. So Right now he was completely alone with it except for this kid and Vashti.

Oh great... SEE QUESTION! "Some people don't think its awesome." he said, including himself. "In fact I know of at least one person who would try and impeach me if they could" Ellie was definently not going to take this sitting down. "And a lot of people don't think I have what it takes." Including himself, "actually, they probably would throw me out of the window" The Wrath of Ellie is a scary thing, and she is rather strong for such a small person

Making his way through the compartment, he quickly learned that everything he'd heard about the train was entirely true--the compartments filled up fast! He'd have preferred an empty one...he'd rather the people come to HIM, you see...but that didn't seem to be a possibility anytime soon. He sighed and looked around, catching a glimpse of a nearby compartment that only had one dude occupying it. He had a cat curled up on his lap--well, cats were cool. Maybe this guy was too.

Knocking on the compartment door, he quietly slid it open and cleared his throat. "Erm...hi. Anyone sitting there?" he asked, pointing to the space where his legs were. What?! He could be saving it for someone!

Hearing a knock at the door, Jake raised an eyebrow. It had to be a firstie, a transfer or someone who had a nervous disposition. Jake wasn't used to people knocking.

Turning to find the knocker, Jake directed his face down and peered over the top of his sunglasses before smiling. "Not that I know of," he said, moving his feet down to the floor, the cat miraculously staying still.

He loved having long legs.

Sometimes.

Selina cocked her eyebrow and replied, "Well, you seem like a nice enough guy. If you can play Quidditch I'm sure you'll make a fine Captain. And whoever is bothering you will have to get over it. You are Captain and that kind of is a sticking title. I think you'll do fine and no one ever said the road the victory was an easy one."

After she was done Selina looked at his broom and gaped. She was not usually this inarticulate in front of people, but she had to admit she was jealous. Her own broom her Dad had gotten her was sitting home in the shed. Growing up with a professional Quidditch player as a Dad made her crave playing Quidditch more than anything on a real level. Playing on the Quidditch pitch in the back yard was fun and the drills made her a better Chaser than all of her ten male cousins, but she was itching for a real game. Too bad the lady at the Quidditch shop had told her first years were not allowed to try out... but there was always breaking into try outs.

Then Selina got an idea. She had someone with knowledge right in front of her about the game. She could always ask, "Listen last question about Quidditch, I promise. But can first years... try out?" It was worth a shot.

Awaiting his reply she began another topic of conversation, "So do you like being in Ravenclaw?"

Huh. You would think that the train would have a bathroom in it or something. Not that Legend had to use it really badly...but if some firstie had bladder problems that wouldn't work out too well!

Passing by a girl in the corridor of the back end Legend noticed that the girl had picked something off the ground. "Is that..er- yours?" The blonde asked, an eyebrow shooting up. She could have been stealing!

Kurumi frowned. "I do know Patroclus. I haven't seen him around yet," she said as she adjusted her hold on Walnut. And she had just gotten Jacob to smile. He certainly did seem down for whatever reason. Perhaps he was like Eino and just hated train rides? Or, perhaps he was hungry? If that was the case, she still had a few of her pumpkin cookies left in the small blue box she was carrying. Kurumi wasn't sure if this guy wanted to confide in a second year, let alone a shy as a mouse one, but Kurumi hated to see someone look so sad on the day they were all returning to the magical world. "Was Patroclus mean to you? You look a little sad." Like, did he steal a rare chocolate frog card from Jacob?!

Now those friends would be in thier second year.

"Its a Lewis Caroll book Alice's Adventure in Wonderland" she said "Its like the childs story but more intresting for.. well an older audience than a nine year old or something" she added as the girl leaned of over to look at the book Rene's eyes caught sight of the badge once more "Nice badge" she said

Melanie shrugged. "I like to be alone every once in a while. Just not usually." Alone time was okay when she needed to think something through or when she was just feeling grumpy, but Melanie liked being around people most of the time. Her eyebrows went up for the second time when the girl mentioned she had a fiance, but Melanie chose not to comment on that. "I have a friend who transferred here." she told her, smiling slightly at the memory of trying to tutor him when he first started. Hehe. Melanie wasn't the best teacher. "That's cool. So did you just get your magic late or did you go to a foreign wizarding school up until last year?" Melanie had started as a first year, so, naturally, she was curious about what it must be like to be a transfer to Hogwarts.

Ohhh! "Alice and Wonderland... That's like, a classic!" A really old classic! "I haven't read it, though. When you're done with it, could I maybe... borrow it?" If she said pretty please with chocolate on top and gave her puppy dog eyes and whatnot? Eh, she'd wait to see if she said yes or not first though... Yeah.

Melanie was caught off guard when Rene complimented the badge on her robes. "Erm... thanks." she replied after a moment, fiddling with it a little. She still hadn't told anyone about it yet.

"I got my magic alittle late so I attended the New York Academy of Arts before I got accepted to Hogwarts. Im a dancer, Ive been dancing since I was six." She replied

"Ohh..definitly. Your going to enjoy it plus im almost done with it." She said openning the book and seeing what page she was on. seeing that she only had a few more pages to go she sat the book back down. She would finish it later.

Alice pulled her trunk behind her and held her raven cage in the other hand. She wore a green victorian style dress with matching spats which had silver buttons. The dress had white lace detailing and was adorned with green satin ribbons. She pulled herself into an empty compartment and put her trunk in the ove head and opened her raven cage taking out her raven Percival and placing him on her shoulder and popping the cage into the overhead as well. Her hair was down in soft blonde waves.

Alice then sat down and allowed Percival to nip at her finger as she sat in her seat, quietly, hoping for someone to talk to.

Aaand there was someone. Someone coming towards her. Waaaay too fast and waaaay too close.

Ellie didn't screech or scream, but her face bunched up, braced for an impact.

One that, thank Merlin, never came.

"Just a little." she breathed. She lifted her head to see who her almost-murderer was, to see a face that had almost matched her own. "Are you alright?" Was he...hurt? Or something?

The young man stuck out his hand and shook Alex's whilst Lolcat stretched out and eyed Jake with displeasure. "I'm Jake." Just Jake... it was easier that way. "You a transfer or something?"

Couldn't be a firstie... looked too old. Jake let go of Alex's hand and stroked Lolcat who instantly started purring.

He eyed the creature once more and laughed at her comment, "Yes, better safe than sorry, no?" he said, eying the thing once more. Nah, it wasn't evil, it was the cutest little knarl in existence.

And he smiled once more as he nodded as a way of saying 'You're welcome'. Yeah, she didn't look evil, nor seem to be so, and she was a Ravenclaw, not many Ravenclaws have been evil in the past. At least not on purpose. So, it was all good.

Huh? Another smile. "Why, thank you," Hufflepuff had won the Championship that day, team work, of course, AND...lookit! She had only ONE team, perhaps not all girls were weird and undecided. "Well, that's good," not as great as the Arrows, but hey, at least it was ONE team, "You know, the last Captain that Hufflepuff had," because the tournament had made it clear that no Captains were involved last year, "now plays for them, Miranda, yes, she plays for them now," she didn't even finish at Hogwarts, pretty awesome, no?

It was awesome. Or more than awesome. To him, at least. The rest of the family seemed to be ashamed of what Gilderoy did, but they failed to see the main picture. "I guess so, it's not like he's that famous," and he couldn't believe he'd just said that, after all the years he'd spent saying he--no, wait a minute, Treyen never said Gilderoy was famous, he only said he was the greatest wizard ever, right? Or something along the lines, but famous? No, no, he'd said 'celebrity', and that's slightly different. Sliiiightly. "No, I'm a Hufflepuff...though, honored that you'd think I was one," yeah, he was okay with the Ravenclaws, and Gryffindors too...it was the Slytherin crowd you were bound to be suspicious of.

Vashti nodded. Definitely better safe than sorry. Because you never really know. Something similar had happened before, hadn't it, back in Harry Potter's time? So it never hurt to be just a liiittle cautious, right? Even if the knarl looked quite innocent and very unlike a human pretending to be a knarl. And she probably wouldn't even be thinking about it if she hadn't heard the story about Thaddeus Thurkell. So much for constant vigilance.

She smiled at his thanks then tried to force her mind down memory lane once more, trying to see if she could remember the previous Hufflepuff Captain. She could, just a little, though she couldn't remember ever actually meeting her. "Wow, really?" she asked, her eyes widening slightly and a smile forming once more. "That's really cool! Good for her." She must've been a pretty good Quidditch player if she was now playing for a professional team.

Not that famous? Well, no, maybe not to those crazy people who didn't read, but to Vashti anyone who'd written several books, or had at least written one really good book, was pretty famous in her mind. But maybe that was just her. "Hufflepuff's a good house too," she commented. "I think it'd probably be my second choice for a house if I wasn't in Ravenclaw, although - and I know it sounds really shallow - I really don't care for the color yellow." Even if she'd worn yellow once before in support of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team in that one game against the Slytherins. But that was only temporary, not something she had to deal with wearing or seeing every day in the common room or anything.

She gave Simon an appreciative smile, she was grateful that he had been trying to make her feel better about them. "All I can do is try eh?"

Mia watched him with amusement as his hand rubbed the back of his neck. All boys seemed to do that and still she wondered why? At his confession however, her eyes widened a little and an even broader smile spread across her face. "Oh hey! That's great. Congratulations!" She wondered why he seemed so self conscious about that?

"I've never seen a game of quidditch." She mused looking out the window of the train, thinking of all the things she had missed over the years. Mia turned back to look at Simon again. "You must be really good, huh?"

Simon wasn’t sure his words had any effect on his companion, especially as she made a face and ran a hand through her hair as if she was as nervous or as sheepish as he had been just a moment before. “Yep pretty much,” he replied in agreement. “All I’m saying is don’t be one to stress totally over it for its not really worth it. My fifth year might have been smoother if I hadn’t.” Or at least his friends and girlfriend wouldn’t have given him flack for all the book studying he had done through the months.

“Thanks,” he said having a feeling he was going to being thanking a lot of people as they found out for students tended to be interested in that sort of thing.

"Really?" Simon questioned looking a little incredulous at that bit of information. It wasn't often something on heard from an older student for while you might not be that into sports you usually got dragged to at least one game through the years. "I wouldn't say really good...at least about myself. It kinda came as a surprise actually though I guess its all how different people view things," he commented with a shrug.

Another friend yeppie "Im Rene, Rene Cullen" She replied. "Im a seventh year hufflepuff. I asume that you are a firstie." Looking at the girl and then back to the raven perched on the girls shoulder "Nice raven, He is rather calm" She noted

Zoey looked up at a boy that appeared to be talking to her.

Was it hers? Well nooooo. She shook her head in response. "No I found it on the floor," she supressed a grin, raising one eyebrow and dangling the piece of jewelry from two fingers in front if the boy's face. "Is it yours?" She choked back giggles as she watched his face. Hehehe.

Absentmindedly, the girl looked around for anybody that might actually have lost the bracelet. It really didn't look like anyone had. Hmm, she could probobly take it to the conductor and they could see if someone had lost it. That was a good idea actually.

She said he was going to be good, when she didn't even know him, these people were so weird. Silly New firsties. He wanted to mess with them, maybe the first few days when they ask directions. He could send them to the seventh floor towers instead of the dungeon and vice versa. That would be funny... he could just say that he made a mistake.

Oh... More questions. Liars! They were all Liars!!!

"Yes. they can try-out... can't have your own broom though." he said. He saw her eyeing his broom. yes the school brooms would be what they would use. "But you use the school brooms." eww... that sounded bad, and tried to fix it "But Professor V. Keeps them in great condition and their very reliable" phew, he didn't want Vindictus to get all these complaints about having to use run down school brooms., cause they really were good brooms. "If you have anymore questions, you might want to save them for your appropriate captain, once your sorted." unless it was him... if it was him then dont ask when he's working on homework or strategies, and definently not when he's studying for OWLs.

Ravenclaw. "Oh yes, great house... tough to have to walk up 7 floors though. But its great excersise" he said with a small laugh

Oh, She hadn't seen him either... bummer. He looked at the cat again, just to make sure it wasn't planning anything. Cause the gorilla was enough, he didn't need an evil cat too. Let a lone a real evil cat

She though pat was mean to him? "No! Of course not!" he said defensivly, "Pat's too nice to be mean." though he still wanted to punch the kid, he got out of quidditch last year, but this year, there was definently going to be a bludger heading his way. "I just need to talk to him"
Sad... he looked sad? "Sad, no. cponfused, lost in thought and scared, yes." he said simply. again wasnt a secret, he just didn't want to feel the Wrath of a certain Ellie Stone... Hmmm... what an appropriate name. Its amazing. Ellie stone... was probebly going to stone him... or bludgen him with a bludger and a bat.
