Back of the Train

There's plenty of seating at the back of the train. Grab a compartment with your friends, it's time to head home again!

Holmesian Feline 12-30-2010 01:55 AM

This was it...the start of term once more. Normally each year wasn't too different from the previous year. Except Simon's first year of course and maybe last year if one considered the OWLS he took at the end of the year and all the studying that had transpired in the months leading up to it. But this year he had added responsibility and he had to admit he was a little nervous about it all.

After depositing his trunk into the luggage compartment, Simon made his way into the main portion of the train, for once his broom an added addition to his belongings. He had decided if he was going to do his best leading the team he had been entrusted with to lead he might as well use a familiar broom rather then the school brooms he chose most years if he played. And after a short debate had brought it with him when he went looking for a compartment, walking up the aisle at the back of the train.

DuckyLinJi 12-30-2010 02:04 AM

With a deep sigh, Hyun dragged his luggage with both his hands. Not liking the fact that he was actually going to a new school. He missed Durmstrang, his true home. Dragging his stuff all the way to the back of the train , Hyun found a compartment that was deserted and entered it.

He placed the luggage on the holder above and lay down on the couch with another sigh and closed his eyes, not to sleep but to relax for a moment. He smiled softly when he noticed that SuSu , his kitten, had jumped on his chest and purred loudly before laying down and taking, no doubt cause thats what cats do all the time, a nap.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 12-30-2010 02:13 AM

Vashti went immediately to the back of the train, glancing into the compartments she passed only to see if they were empty. If they weren't, she moved on, regardless of whoever might be in the compartments she passed. Finally, she found one in the very back and immediately opened then closed the door behind her. She lifted her luggage onto the shelf above then plopped down in the seat right next to the window, curling up against it with her head leaning against the window. She bit her lip, trying not to cry. This was neither the time nor the place, but it was hard not to when she felt like she was abandoning her mother when she needed her most.

Claire walked to the back of the train, figuring that if it was anything like a bus, the back would be the most fun. :) She went to an empty compartment. She didn't want to have to ask anyone if she could sit. She would wait and see if anyone else wanted to ask her. She would say yes to everyone until the compartment was full, if anyone asked at all, but she didn't have enough guts to knock on the door of a compartment containing anyone older than her.

samthehpfreak 12-30-2010 02:56 AM

Sammy didn't waste time. She wanted a compartment to herself, so people could ask HER if they could sit there, not the other way around. So the blonde hurried down the train, till she found a nice empty compartment at the end. She always liked the back of the train, don't know why, she just did. She open the door, heaved her bag onto the racks and kept her small over the shoulder camo bag next to her. Before plopping her feet up on the seat opposite her and petting her Moggy. Whilst trying to keep as much cat fur off her outfit as possible. But that's impossible, Moggy's just so huggable. "ready for another year Moggy?" she asked the cat, looking into it's eyes. Moggy meowed in response, but it was hard to tell if it was a positive or negative meow.

Izzy!

Lucie pulled her trunk along until she got all the way to the back of the train and found and empty compartment. Gah this thing was WAY heavy. She didn't think she could lift it on her own so she let it sit underneath the window. She had the change of her new owl on top of it. The girl hoped Seuss wouldn't topple off. Just to be sure she took off her sweatshirt and tuck it around his cage.

After that she plopped down on her seat and brought her legs up and wrapped her arms around them, setting her chin on her knees, and leaning her head against the wall. She looked out the window in thought and couldn't stop thinking about home. The girl let a tear fall but hurriedly wiped it away before anyone could notice.

Aha! He'd found an empty compartment at last! Or so he thought...

Treyen didn't particularly look around the compartment, the boy simply entered and took out the little knarl hidden on his backpack pocket, he wasn't planning to sit on the little creature, was he?

It wasn't until Thaddeus was out that he noticed someone else in there. "Oh, sorry," he started to say, "I thought no one was here," clearly, he'd been oblivious enough not to notice, "I--I'm Treyen Lockhart, and I hope you don't mind sharing a compartment with me and the little knarl...and anyone else who enters," he spoke real fast and smiled when he finished.

Elliott searched about for an empty compartment. It was uncanny how quickly the train was filling up! Nathan was prone to tardiness, so he figured he'd be the one to find a compartment for them. It wasn't long before he came upon one with just one student in it.. and he believed to have recognized her. Lucie. From Scrivenshaft's.

"Hey, Luce," he greeted, taking a step in. He stopped, though, when he realized the glint on her face. Was that a teardrop? Eh, maybe he shouldn't interrupt. Hold up.. Pfft, what was he thinking? He just spoke to her; he couldn't just turn right around and leave. So, instead he stood where he was, albeit a little awkwardly. "Are you okay?" He asked, his eyebrows pushing together in concern.

Holmesian Feline 12-30-2010 03:47 AM

Seeing more and more of his fellow students entering the train in front of and no doubt behind him and filling up compartments, Simon decided to quit his wanderings and look for one of his own. Coming up to the nearest empty one, the Gryffindor sixth year slipped inside and after stashing his broom in the shelf above the couch, took a seat down on one side near the water. It wasn't as if he was anti-social, he just wasn't one to push himself into a situation and he could wait for his friends or anyone else who happened along so he left the door open as he settled in.

Vashti looked up when she heard the compartment door open and close. A boy she didn't know had entered, but he didn't seem to notice her. That was okay though, because it gave her the chance to wipe her eyes quickly in case any tears were considering spilling out of them. She'd managed to sit up straighter too by the time the boy finally noticed her, and she noticed that he was holding a hedgehog-like creature, though it probably wasn't actually a hedgehog. She couldn't think of the correct name for it at the moment though.

Lockhart? That name sounded familiar, but Vashti couldn't figure out where from. And a knarl! That's what that creature was. She remembered reading about it now. "Oh no, I don't mind," she replied, managing a smile. "You're perfectly welcome to stay with your knarl. What's his name, by the way?" She assumed it was a "he" at least. She hoped it wasn't actually a girl and the boy would flip out on her for not knowing, as some pet owners did. "Oh, and I'm Vashti Greenwell."

Her train of thought was interrupted when she saw a familiar face appear. Heh Elliot. She turned and looked at him standing in the doorway of the compartment. "Oh I Elliot," she gave a forced smile, then turned and looked over at Seuss. Sigh. Then he asked if she was alright. Hardly. "Just a little homesick already I suppose," she mused, still looking at her owl. Homesick already? It was honestly ridiculous to say.

She looked over at him again. "You can come in if you want." Just not to sound like she wanted him kicked out or something.

" Hi Meredith" Rex called out. " Mind if I sit with you?" Rex asked Meredith. " I am glad we met before HogWarts" Rex said to Meredith.

Brilliant! Because he wasn't going to pick another compartment.

"Well, thank you," for saying it was okay for the little creature to stay here as well, "His name is Thaddeus, I just got him a week ago and couldn't bear to leave him alone," unlike Gilderoy, the owl, he could travel alone just fine, he'd done so in the past.

Actually, the one time Gilderoy went with him on the train was on his first year, after that, he'd been traveling alone.

"He's named after Thaddeus Thurkell, you know, the wizard who turned all his kids into hedgehogs?" and he'd said as if it was common knowledge, as if he was saying that Harry Potter had beaten Lord Voldemort some years ago. Well, Mr. Thurkell had his chocolate frog card...just like Harry Potter.

Anyway, Treyen leaned back into his seat, right in the middle, and placed the knarl next to him by the window. The little creature looked around as if suspecting of evil standing in the middle of the compartment. "He won't hurt, so, don't mind him," and please don't offer him food.

That's when he heard her name, and like Tiberius she had a name he's never heard before, "Vashti? It's very nice to meet you," he smiled, and gave her a single nod. "Excited about Hogwarts?" because Quidditch was back, you know?

Elliott pushed his lips to the side and slowly tapped his fingers against his thigh. He really didn't want to intrude, but she just looked so sad. Aah, homesickness. He couldn't blame her on that one. "Well, you're farther away from home than most people," he noted. The owl made some sort of owl noise and he looked at the bird, then turned back to her. "Plus, I don't think homesickness can really last too long when we'll have a million classes to worry about soon enough." Both fortunate and unfortunate.

He was glad that she invited him in because he didn't want to just come on in looking like he hadn't a care about whether she wanted him there or something. "Thank you," he said and he left his things on the other side of the compartment for the time being. "So, what's your owl's name?"

Mia was both excited and sad at the same time. If that was even possible. She was excited about heading back to Hogwarts and she was going to be a fifth year this year. For some reason being a fifth year seemed to be a big deal for her. And she was sad because she really hadn't wanted the summer to end.

Now she found herself hurrying down the train trying to find her friends. She kept peering into the compartments as she passed them and so of course she wasn't really looking at the floor in front of her and promptly tripped on someone's stray luggage.

Thankfully she didn't go sprawling onto the ground. She had managed to grab hold of a door to one of the compartments and was kind of hanging off it. Her knees were on the floor and her hands had a death grip on the door handle.

"Walnut! Stop running please," Kurumi whimpered as she chased her cat down the narrow corridor and smacking into a few people whereas Walnut simply weaved between their legs like a dancer. She finally caught up with her calico munchkin in an empty compartment. Walnut, once again looking like a king, had situated himself right smack in the middle of the seat. "I knew it, I spoiled you way to much over the summer," she sighed collapsing into the seat across from Walnut as he rolled onto his back and stretched out paws up in the air flaunting his snowy belly.

"Yeah you did spoil that guy...And I mean me...JK..."Adam said, hiding behind the sliding glass door but finally showing his face. He went up to her, quickly rubbed the kitties head and hugged her very tightly.
"I know I've been hanging with you a lot, but I still missed you when we weren't together..."Adam sad grateful to see Kurumi, he sat down next to her, as he faced out the window.

He was right. She was a long way from home. It was her family she missed more than home. Even if she woke up every morning to one of her baby sister's screaming, or Raphael shooting her in the face with a water gun. She gave a half sort of smile. "And I just am sooo excited for all the essays and reports we'll soon be doing," she said in fake enthusiasm. Homework. Blah. She did it because she had to. The girl appreciated the cheering up he was trying to give. He was a 15 year old boy so what was she going to expect?

She watched as he walked in and took a seat. What was her owl's name? "Oh his name's Seuss. As in Dr. Seuss the author," Lucie grinned, remembering the childhood books her mother used to read her. Her mum read her all of the books he wrote probably. "You wouldn't mind helping me move my trunk up there would you?" she asked, pointing up at the rack above. "It's too heavy to lift by myself."

Kurumi had baked cookies for Adam by the bucket load during their summer holiday and, if he did make the Quidditch team, it looked like she was going to be making more of her secret snitch recipe ones. Her cheeks went aflame when he hugged her and she hugged him back gently. Walnut began rolling on his back begging for more attention. "I miss you too," she laughed tossing her ebony hair over her shoulder, for once not having it in a pony tail.

He stuffed his Nimbus 7003 in front of Kurumi's face as he began petting the cat.
"Look what I got at Diagon Alley- my own broom- with my own money, paid the lady just mighty fine..."He said quite excited.
"Now I can practice before try outs......"He took a glance at his ruksack, which feebly moved inside. Then noticing the kitty, Adam moved his rucksack to the shelf above the hungry kitty.

Jaina drug her trunk and owl cage behind her and looked for the first available compartment that was empty. She had to get her hair from the straight blue it had become to the red curls that came naturally to her. She found one adn tossed her trunk up on the shelf above. She then opened her owl cage before placing it on the shelf, too. She placed her tiny elf owl named Oona on her shoulder and let her nuzzle her. She shook her head once and forced it back to the red curls before searching for Joshua out the window. He was waiting for her to give the 'I'm ok' wave. She found the scrawny blonde 11 year old boy out the window and waved with a big smile just for him. School was definately goign to be a lot different without her best friend at her new school.
