Honestly, it wasn't Josephina's top preference to teach this subject but she'd done reasonably adept in it during her school days, so she figured why not? Minus the fact that she totally missed Antares already; he always seemed like such the gentlemen at the feasts. Quiet and more the observational type, but nice.
Nonetheless, she'd agreed to help out and give the kids some type of astronomy lesson this term so here she was. After the long walk up to the tower and now some deep breathing, she opened the classroom door and practically collapsed into the large chair at the front of the room. Don't worry kids, lesson will begin as soon as the substitute professor catches her breath. She's not used to those stairs
Cleaning Instructions:
1. Use the cleaning solution provided and apply with a soft cotton towel a light layer.
2. Allow to air dry for a minute, before applying another coat of cleaning solution and rubbing it onto the looking glass and all over the telescope. Keep the rubbing to clockwise circular motions and continue until you've done all over the scope.
3. Take a fresh towel and rub in the same direction to towel dry the scope.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary until dust and debris is gone.
5. Once the scope is clean, spray a thin layer of holding cream over the scope to help prevent future dust outbreaks.
6. Allow the solution to dry fully before operating the telescope. This may take up to 24 hours.
Belle used the fresh towel she found and rubbed it in the same direction to towel to dry the scope, this did take a little bit since she didn't realize she put on a little more cleaner than she needed.
Right. Finally she was finished drying it! Just in time too. She felt like her arm was gonna fall off. She checked her notes for step 4... wait. She had to re-do steps 1, 2, and 3?!?!
Right. She was positive her arm was gonna come off now.
Putting more solution on the towel, she cleaned and dried the telescope as a whole again. Then, after massaging her shoulder, did the last few dirty patches of the telescope again. Trust her to probably get the dirtiest one!
As soon as Luin finished with the third step, and then consulted the list again:
[4.] Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary until dust and debris is gone
She then started on steps 1-3 yet again, losing herself in the tedious work. She had noticed that the teacher told them to wrap up and so she tried to work a bit faster.

Kurumi didn't mind it so much, but it was taking precious time away from actual learning. Wouldn't this cleaning time be better spent memorizing star names or something?
Having applied a thin layer, Kurumi set it down and waited for the layer to dry. When it did, she picked it back up again and repeated the process making tiny clockwise circles. Having covered the telescope with the solution, she reached for a dry towel and began to dry it off.
As Kurumi continued to dry her telescope, she took her eyes off it for just a few moments to see how everyone else was doing and to check the board for her next instructions. As she did, her fingers slipped on a slippery area from the cleaning solution and the telescope when shooting straight up into the air.
For the love of Merlin's cottom bathrobe! (o゚Д゚o)
Everything seemed to be going in slow motion. Kurumi throwing her towel down on the table. The telescope turning over in the air. It making its decent back toward her. Kurumi realizing that it was falling just out of her reach. Her leaping across the desk. Catching it. Somersaulting across the floor with the telescope wrapped up in her arms like a baby.
Kurumi eventually stopped rolling when she hit something, which she assumed to be Professor Hadley's desk.
Looking down at her telescope, it was clear she needed to start over with the cleaning as her fingerprints were all over it.

Now she was on step two. Finally, she applied a second layer of the solution - the telescope looked much cleaner now as she rubbed the solution into the telescope in circular motions.
It wasn't ready to go and be perfect and clean yet - so back to step one after she scurgified the current rag put it down and grabbed her other one and began cleaning once more. The rag only turning a light-golden brown this time, and not that atrocious black.

Ok, holding cream... she went over and found the cream and then went back to her telescope. She sprayed it over the cope and then replaced the cream where she had found it. She then quickly consulted the sheet to see if she had anything else to do today: [QUOTE="Step 6
Allow the solution to dry fully before operating the telescope. This may take up to 24 hours.
Phew, done for today. She then went over to her stuff and gathered it up, pausing as she headed on her way out, "Bye, professor."
She repeated steps one-three four more times, then finally she was almost done. She Repeated steps one-three another three times her arms feeling more tired then ever.
Then she as she looked happily at it she was ready for step five - well,a fter she waited for it to dry a bit that is.

Only two more steps to go, and then the blasted telescope would be completely cleaned! Then, Sierra could officially be dismissed, and she'd be done with all her classes for the day! She found herself wanting to hurry to get done as quickly as possible. She thought better of that idea, though, because she didn't want to accidentally...well, do what Kurumi Hollingberry had just done.
Bwah haha!
She wanted to laugh out loud, point to Kurumi, and nudge a few of her friends to make sure they saw, as well. She didn't, though. Sacrificing what few house points she was earning for the cleaning of the telescope just wasn't worth it.
Sierra made a grab for her holding cream, positioned it toward the telescope, and then began applying a thin layer all over the telescope. The instructions said this step was to prevent future dust outbreaks, and Merlin only knew Sierra didn't want to have to repeat steps one, two, and three again. Pretty soon, she'd applied a good layer all over the telescope. With that step done, Sierra was surely free to go. She couldn't necessarily stand by for twenty-four hours while she waited for everything to fully dry. She cleaned up her area and then made a grab for her bag.
Seeing that she was done, she quickly scribbled her information onto a little card and then left it at her work area:
Sierra Greingoth
Slytherin
First Year
After slinging her bag over her shoulder, she bee-lined for the door and then headed out the tower area.
Kyle looked at the fifth step took out the holding spray and sprayed the entire length of her telescope.
And wow, clean as a fresh silver dollar after it was boiled - the telescope was glinting and glittering and utterly radiantly shining in pure cleanness.
After finishing the second to last step since the final one was waiting twenty four hours she cleaned up her work area cleaning the rags putting the holding cream away after she'd sprayed the telescope with it of course.
And now, writing her name, house and year on a little card to say she'd been there and clean her telescope she swung her bag onto her shoulder and walked to the door.
Dropping the card into the correct area.
Kyleigh "Kyle" Manning
Ravenclaw
Sixth Year,
She smiled waved good bye to the Professor and skipped out of the room.

Grabbing the container of holding cream and twisting the top off, Kurumi was reminded of the weird hair products that Ryunosuke always used on his hair - especially before going out with a girl. She supposed that this was very different from that...unless any of the boys wanted to try it on their hair. But she wasn't going to suggest that.
Kurumi sprayed the cream over the scope and checked the check list on the board once more. Looks like all she had to do was wait for now. Kurumi leaned back in her seat for a moment and decided to observe the telescope for a few more minutes to see if any smudges appeared before she called her work done.

There, that should do it.

Nika read over step number four and groaned. "I have to repeat!?!" Nika looked at her telescope hoping that she could just leave it as it was, but she decided it was too dirty. She didn't want to get into any trouble. Taking her solution she rubbed it on the telescope again. Taking a deep breath she looked around the room and panicked when she saw some others who were already done. When the minutes was done Nika applied another coat and then took a towel and rubbed it. Okay four down two to go.

Satisfied with the condition of the telescope once he had finished wiping the remainder of the cleaning solution, Simon put down the used cloth amongst the small pile of cloth that he ahd already gathered with the previous steps. He let out a breath and looked over at the list of steps to see what he had to do next to complete the full assignment.
Picking up the holding cream he was about to spray when his attention was drawn to Kurumi and her antics, the younger girl apparently having fumbled with the telescope she had been working on. Simon almost moved to help but she was quicker and managed to make things right before long. Once he knew she was ok, the captain finally sprayed down his own telescope before setting it down on his work station. A spare bit of parchment within reach, he scribbled down the informantion requested from Professor Hadley.

Simon then gathered up his belongings into his bag and cleaned up the area. Adding his bag onto his shoulder he got up to leave now that they were free once they were done with the work. "Night professor," he said before leaving.
Uh what was that Sinclair?! Get the holding cream in Diagon Alley?! What did he think this was.... hairspray?
"Mr Sinclair, I assure you this product is not one that could be used for beauty purposes." As for where she got it? The cupboard of course. "I'm not sure where it was originally bought but I do know when I was looking for materials for this lesson, I found it in the cupboard." Obviously.
"Please finish up your cleaning, but don't rush... When you're done, you may leave unless you have further questions about telescopes, constellations, or anything else that I might be able to help you with." Hadley informed the class as a whole. "Just make sure you clean up your workspace and leave a name card with your house and year by your telescope, so I can give you credit. There will be an assignment posted later, so check your notices."
ooc: The lesson thread will remain open for you to wrap up your cleaning process until tomorrow night when I get home from work. SO around 11pm EST on Monday, it will close. Thank you for your patience with me <33
Riley grinned to himself when Professor hadly began to answer his witty question....and she guessed what he was thinking!? That woman had too much pondering time with Arithmancy and had probably been up to too many scholorly things for her own good. Hmpf!
Since it couldn't be used as hairspray, the Gryffindor decided not to take any with him under his cloak before leaving. He pulled out a notecard and placed it next to his clean telescope on his nice and clean work table!
"Bye Professor Hadley!" And the sixth year headed out to go raid the kitchens for some food.

Belle already done steps 1 and 2, but she realized that she saw some of the debris still left on her telescope. "Wow they must of not been taken care of that probably huh?" she thought to herself. She was scrubbing with the towel till it was spotless, now i can see the lens clearly!
Finally, Emmy was able to start on the last step; she grabbed the holding cream, and, standing well back, and holding her nose for good measure, she began spraying a fine mist of holding cream.
She moved her arm up and down the length of the scope, then walked round it, and repeated the process on the far side.
At last she was finished; she inspected her work - the scope gleamed from lens to eyepiece, and not a single speck of dirt remained in the crevices all along it.
"Not too bad, for a first attempt..." she decided, murmuring to herself,
Taking a namecard, she wrote;

Selina then looked at her work and smiled. Everything was looking good as far as she could tell. When she looked back down at the sheet she noticed that it said she had to repeat the process of the first three steps. So repeat it she did. Everything from the clock wise motion to the clean and dry towel for the final step.
Once she repeated all of her steps to perfection Selina waited to move onto the next task.

Selina was finally ready to move on. She looked at her instructions for the next part of the directions. It stated the following.
Quote:
Once the scope is clean, spray a thin layer of holding cream over the scope to help prevent future dust outbreaks.
Once she had a clear grasp on what her directions were Selina went to work completing the task of step five. She grabbed the cream canister and squeezed on the foam onto the telescope. Every piece of the telescope that could be covered with the thin layer was done. No leaf was left unturned.
After doing this method for several minutes Selina stepped back to admire her work. There was the specimen of a fine telescope. Now all she had to do was wait for it to dry.
