Next Question will be for Ravenclaw and Slytherin. worth another two points. How did Tyr lose his hand?" Truebridge nodded at the little Gryffindor and then looked around trying to guess who would be first.

Kurumi smiled and only semi returned her attention to the book. She would have to thank Professor Truebridge after class. Combining runes, well, any subject with mythology was fascinating to say the least. It made the two worlds, wizarding and non, seem closer together.

Con_Stripes 02-12-2011 02:07 AM

"Right the Fenris wolf bit it off. Two for Slytherin. Next question is for everyone and worth two points. What is the name of the poem that describes the discovery of the runes?"

Truebridge had another chocolate frog. "Does anyone want one? Help yourselves, there are plenty."

Luinevaug 02-12-2011 02:09 AM

Luin raised her hand, "It is named Runatal"

luin thought for a ssecond, "it is part of the Havamàl though."
ooc: sry remember it as well dunno which is right

Holmesian Feline 02-12-2011 02:12 AM

"Isn't it the Poetic Edda?" Simon questioned after raising his hand again hoping for a right answer.

Anna Banana 02-12-2011 02:13 AM

"The Runes: Odin's Gift?" Sierra suggested.

Merlin, this one was hard! ...they all were, really. To her, at least.

"Or...Hávamál?" Sierra added, thinking of that poem, too.

PatInTheHat 02-12-2011 02:24 AM

Apparently all it took was a few chocolate frogs to distract Arya from the 'game' they were playing. That, or she'd just grown tired of flipping through her book for answers she didn't know. It was so much easier to simply listen and snack on the chocolate-y goodness in the form of frogs.

When more were offered, she hopped off her stool and grabbed a few more, flashing a smile at Truebridge. "Thanks, professor." Leisurely she returned to her table attempting open one of the frogs without dropping the others.

"Two points for Havamal, a bonus point for Runatal." Truebridge answered.

And a Bonus point for the 'Poetic Edda' which is the collection that the Havamal is part of."

"No problem, Arya." Truebridge marked up the board.

"Next question. For three points, Hufflepuffs and Slytherins only. What is also known as Baldr’s Bane?"

Roselyn 02-12-2011 02:48 AM

Nope. She didn't enjoy the chocolate frogs being in the room. It's like, she could almost smell them! Bleh. Quite distracting it was, which wasn't a good thing in the Slytherin's mind.

It was distracting her with her answer as well! "Mistletoe?" she asked....after raising her hand. Eh, was that right? Time to look in the book!

Anna Banana 02-12-2011 02:48 AM

"The mistletoe plant?" Sierra said, rushing to try and answer before some Puffer did. Her answer...seemed right. Then again, she really knew next to nothing about runes.

'Mistletoe. Right. Three points for Slytherin. Next question is also worth three points and is for Ravenclaw and Gryffindor." Truebridge nodded at the students in Blue and Red.

"Which rune most represents the discovery of the runes?"

Luinevaug 02-12-2011 03:03 AM

Luin thought about it, this she didn't have a good idea on. She decided to guess and raised her hand, "Kenaz?"

Luin wished she always thought things through, but made another quick guess, and raised her hand, "Also Anssuz is an option. They are somewhat similar in nature."

Holmesian Feline 02-12-2011 03:10 AM

"Wouldn't it be Ansuz one of the runes associated with Odin as well as a rune linked with intellect and discovery," Simon supplied thinking back to what he was reading.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 02-12-2011 03:27 AM

Erm, dagaz perhaps, it means break through so that could be discovery in getting closeread to meeting ones goal", Chloe answered raising her hand high.".

Nika wasn't sure of the answer to the question. Why was she so bad at this? So she helped her self to a chocolate frog and looked apologetically to her fellow gryffindors.

Rex picked up a choclate frog for himself and Nika. " Here you go" Rex handed the candy to Mika. "Do not worry, you will help Gryffindor on other questions" Rex said to Nika smiling.

"Thanks Rex." She took a bite of the frog. "Hopefully I'm able to answer some questions right."

sweetpinkpixie 02-12-2011 06:55 AM

"I agree with Simon," Kurumi said nodding. "Ansuz is the rune associated with Odin who also had a thirst for knowledge and therefore an unceasing quest for wisdom. It is also associated with Yggdrasil, which we discussed earlier, Odin hung from it before spying the runes we know." Kurumi paused for a moment and looked down at the old book on her desk. "Some also say that Ansuz is associated with The Hierophant in tarot, which represents communicates spiritual knowledge and wisdom and therefore the introduction of runes to the common folk."

Fee listend to all the suggestions from the students and stopped as Luin started to talk.Kenaz.That seemed to be logical."I have to say i agree with Luin here",the blonde raised her hand,"its named the rune of discovery and is also associated with torch seeing it lights the way to hidden reasons, underlying causes, unknown or unacknowledged aspects as well as hidden motives. They also say its a symbol for the fire of creation. And to me it sounds like all these aspects could have to do something with discovery."If she would be wrong here she had rambled for 5 minutes for nothing.Ugh.

Lezleighd 02-13-2011 09:41 PM

Satine shook her head with both the Ansuz and the Kenaz answer. She actually thought it was both. "Professor I think its both of the runes...can it not be?

Jean1210 02-15-2011 01:20 AM

JP could not believe that the ravenclaws had lost the lead. "Alright, it's time to get our heads in the game." He listened closely and waited for the next question. He would get this one right. he knew he would

Hera 02-15-2011 04:03 AM

Emily jotted a few notes down on her parchment and waited for the next question to come... hoping it would be one she would be ellegible to answer.

... five points behind the slytherins... come on claws... she thought.

pundantic 02-15-2011 04:07 AM

Selina could not believe she had fallen so behind. She wanted so desperately to show her chops as a force worth being able to keep up. But every time she seemed to know the answer an older student shot their hand up in what seemd record time. She could barely compete. Perhaps she would do better as the time progressed. She would be darned if she had spent her whole weekend when all of her friends were out on the Pitch indoors studying to fall behind. The next question she would nail and her trend would only rise from there.

Even though Luin had made a total guess at first and then became wary about her initial answer she was surprised when a Slytherin girl spoke up and agreed with her. She nodded, that was somewhat why she guessed that, "I did originally believe it to be Kenaz because of it being known as the discovery rune, ..although technically Orin did discover them."
