The classroom is bright and airy, very clean and comfortable. There are no desks in this classroom, rather there are several wooden tables which would fit between four and six students quite comfortably. The tables are arranged rather higgledy piggledy, all out of alignment with each other and yet there is plenty of room to weave through the tables and walk up to the front of the classroom, or down to the back. Each table has runes carved into them, some a little straighter and clearer than others, and all stained with red. They seem to thrum encouragingly when you sit down to work, but do not provide any distraction; on the contrary you feel far more focused and confident about learning when you sit at these tables and surround yourself in the runes carved by the students and by the professor.
The front of the classroom has a large blackboard, charmed to write on itself, and when it isn't taking notes it quite often it has something to say, though you'll need to transcribe it from runic to English to make any sense of it. Truebridge also has a desk at the front of the class, set to one side, and a perfect view of all the tables arranged haphazardly around the room.
At the back of the classroom, set to one side, there is the door out into the corridor. Along the back wall there is a large bookshelf almost overflowing with books, mostly old, all very well taken care of. You're welcome to look at any of these books but if any harm befalls the tomes, there will be a severe price to pay. A long and comfortable couch takes up the rest of the back wall, and this is a good place to curl up and read or work on some of your homework.
The windows along the remaining side, opposite the door and Truebridge's desk have soft white curtains that are almost transparent. When pulled they simply diffuse the light and ensure it is not too bright, allowing the room to stay bright and lit at all times. The window frames are the most interesting, if you go and inspect them, all of the exposed wood has been painstakingly carved with runes, mostly bindrunes and rune charms, set in ligature and carved then stained red. These have all been activated and almost thrum under your fingertips. No cold will pass these windows, no student will fall to their deaths. It is a barrier of safety and of comfort, and a good example of runic magic. The door into the classroom is similarly marked.
Truebridge opened the door to the classroom and waited for the students to arrive. There was no music playing today and there was a second blackboard set up at the front of the room. Aside from that the classroom was much as it had been left at the end of the last lesson, desks still crookedly placed around the room and the runes that had been carved were subtly beginning to work their magic.
The second blackboard had been divided up into quarters, with each house written up as a title.
"Take a seat wherever you like, we'll start class soon."
ooc class has begun, please see my latest post for most recent quiz question.
Jake stepped into the room and stopped for a moment, glancing at the second blackboard. He noted where 'Hufflepuff' was written, looked at the classroom layout and nodded. Then, he went to the 'top right hand' corner of the classroom from the perspective of the door and took a seat, sittting back and pulling his feet onto the chair as well, effectively hugging his legs as he looked to the front and waited for the lesson to start, not saying a word so far.

Luin walked into the classroom and turned to the teacher and said hello. She then quickly sat down at the front row of the classroom. She looked up a the board in interest and then brought out her quill and parchment, ready to start taking notes and making sure to first head her paper, "Ancient Runes Lesson#2." She then sat back and waited for the class to begin, looking around at the runes carved in to the desk from before.
Emily enterd the classroom more confident than last time. She had done her research and knew abit more about ancient runes. "Good day Professor" she smiled entering the class. She glanced at the blackboard and took a seat near the front. Where the houses going to have some sort of competition? Excellent!

Emily entered the classroom and took a seat towards the front. "Hi Professor Truebridge", she said as she began to pull out her parchment, quil and ink. Emily noticed the extra blackboard, it looked like a score board, she thought to herself.

Making her way into the classroom, as usual she paused for a split moment to glance at the desks and spot where she wanted to sit before looking for the Professor. Meep! Almost passed him. "Good day, Professor Truebridge."
Now to go to the table she spotted, claim a seat (yup, that one right there!), and take out her notebook, for a moment, not noticing the carved runes on the table. How she missed it, she didn't know. Pfft, she still thought they should've been stained with green instead of red. Mostly because...green was awesome.
Lexi smiled slightly as she entered the Runes classroom. Yeah. No angst today... yet. "Good day Professor Treubridge," she called out as she pasued to look at the blackboards and whatnot. Interesting.
Moving on she plopped down at a table near the front and tucked her bag under her seat after taking out parchment and a self inking quill. Yep. She was ready now.

Between quidditch and the troubles with Josh on top of schoolwork Simon was starting to get a little frazzled. To his credit, the Gryffindor was doing his best to hide it from those around him and not let it effect his work. He was actually greatful for the distraction of ancient runes class in amidst thoughts of the upcoming game.
"Good day Professor," he greeted politely, the boy taking in the various things about the classroom and the people already there and took a seat amongst the front section of desks. "Hey Lexi," he added spotting his fellow Gryffindor nearby.
Ah Ancient Runes. He had to admit, he liked this class quite a bit. The last lesson had been thought provoking and good fun, so he was rather curious to see what this lesson would entail.
Stepping into the room, he cast a quizzical expression at the blackboard that seemed to be divided up into a scoring board. Competition and games today perchance. "Good day Professor." He gave the man a small smile and nod as he slipped into a seat beside Lexi granting the girl a small smile and a playfully raised eyebrow at her already poised quill.

Lexi smiled brightly and gave Simon a wave of her pink polished nails. "Hey Cap'n. Ready for the upcoming match?" she said with a giggle. He BETTER be ready. If her team lost... well Simon didn't want to know how Lexi reacted to a quidditch loss. Ever.

Lexi pursed her lips for a moment before giving a playful nudge straight to Sabel's ribs. She REALLY wanted to stick her finger in his super dimple... but perhaps Ancient Runes was NOT the place to do so. "Perhaps all our studying'll pay off," she said quietly.
"Good afternoon everyone. Today we’re going to have a quick fire quiz and you may use your textbooks to find your answers. If you paid attention to the homework you may have some idea of what the subject of the quiz will be.” Truebridge paused. “Norse Mythology, and in particular, the relationship between Norse Mythology and the Elder Futhark runes.”
He looked around.
“Some questions will be worth more points than others, and there will be bonus questions. Your team is your house but there may be some restrictions for the questions, so make sure you pay attention. You may use your own textbooks or the books at the back of the room as you please.” But if anyone damaged them they’d get detentions for months. Breaking a book was worse than breaking a person in Ethan’s mind.

Kurumi hurried into the Ancient Runes classroom hoping to grab her desk from last class. Searching the tops where her classmates had carved various runes into the wood, Kurumi was pleased to find hers still at the front of the class. Setting her bag down on the table, she looked up at Professor Truebridge. "Good day, Professor," she said before taking a seat and removing her parchment from last class along with some fresh ones. Her attention was then drawn to the massive bookshelf in the back of the room. Oooooooh! Kurumi got up and rushed over to it and began scanning the titles. Sure, fresh crisp books were nice, but Kurumi was rather fond of older books.
Picking up an older book with a dark crimson cover, Kurumi was about to open it when she heard Professor Truebridge start class. Forgetting to put the book back, she hurried back to her seat.

Reason: doh! posted right as the professor did...
Lexi sat up a little straighter and furrowed her brow as Truebs began to talk about rapid fire something or another. Boo. Her brain didn't compute things quickly enough sometimes. Well at least smarty pants Sabel was on her "team". Hehe.
Nodding her head albeit a bit slowly Lexi chewed on her bottom lip a little bit and shot a worried glance at Sabel that clearly said HELP ME!

“Are you ready?"
Norse Mythology. Ew. Jake definitely preferred the Greek stuff.
But that was irrelevant.
Jake listened closely and them drummed his hands quickly on the edge of the table. Yes.
He was ready.
Like a boss.

Nika walked in the classroom worried. She wasn't great at ancient runes. She walked towards the professor and gave him a quick hello before she looked around for a seat. Nika found Emily and instantly her eyes lit up. "Hey Emily do you mind if I sit here?" She pointed to the seat next to her friend.

Salander was just strolling into class when he heard the Professor starting to speak, saying something he really didnt want to hear...
QUIZ.
Maybe he should turn around and head the other direction?
Too late, he was already at the hallway which can clearly be seen from the classroom.
He skidded in and ran into a seat next to Evelyn, teetering the chair before slamming back down onto the floor.
He glanced nervously at his fellow Slythie. Quiz? Quiz? Help!

"First question will be worth one house point, and only first years can answer this one." Truebridge glanced around at the youngest members of the class.
"For one point, What is the name of the world tree?"
Hmm. He was a little peckish. Maybe a snack break after a few questions would be a good idea.
ooc: you still need to RP raising your hand and saying the answer, but it will be quick fire so you won't have time to make long posts. *eyes certain people* However there will be time in between questions etc for you to RP as you like (as long as it follows the site rules and classroom rules) in here too, and you can still post reacting to the question even if your character isn't allowed to answer it.
GAH, why must I have to leave so soon! silly work!

Strolling into the room and noting the House divided blackboard, Patroclus nodded a greeting to the the professor, "Morning Sir".
Finding a seat next to Evelyn and imparting a gentle smile, the boy set up his things, parchment, quill, ink; the usual stuff.
However as Truebridge began to speak, Patroclus directed his attention towards the man, Mythology hey? this was Patroclus' forte, his father was a Historical WizArcheaologist after all, "Nope, no question!"

Kurumi's hand shot up, and then immediately went back down. Oh...a first year old question...she frowned and instead wrote the answer down on her parchment.

Sierra flailed about a little as the professor announced that this question was for first years only. Uhh... "Yggdrasil?" she suggested, her hand raised high.

“Are you ready?"
"Yep most certainly," Simon answered quietly before turning to look up at the front of the room when Professor Truebridge finally spoke up starting the class. He listened to what they were about to do, smiling as he glanced around at the Gryffindor contingency already in the classroom. With Lexi, Sabel, himself and especially Kurumi the lions had a good chance.
"Ready professor," he replied opening his book to be ready for the first question.

There was a poke and then a grin and then a terrified expression. Sabel could only blink at Lexi's range of emotions in wonder at how quickly they changed. He was about to say something, perhaps about how far down her lips had turned from the wide grin they were before, but a question was shot off without much time to consider.
And he almost shot his hand up right away. Almost. First years. He could argue he still had the mindset of one? Cue scratching fingernail on desk.

Jackie sat down quietly at an empty table. She flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder and dug through her bag for a blank piece of parchment. While she was at it she found a quill and some ink. Finally a piece of parchment was found. She spread it out over her table and started to write....

Jackie then started doodling on a scrap piece of parchment while she waited for her class to begin.
"Oh course not!" she smiled, pulling out the chair for Nika to sit.
Oh the first question!
Emily raised her hand. "Is it called the Yggdrasil professor?" Had she pronounced that right? She hoped so!

"Yggdrasil. Thats right. One point to Gryffindor." And the next question.
"Fifth years." Because they looked like they were about to explode out of their seats.
"For one point, What kind of wood is the world tree made of?"
