Hecate sat on the desk in the room, tired and worn out. It had been a long night... though... a fun night. Her stroll on the grounds was quiet and pleasant, and she enjoyed hiding behind the broomshed...
Now it was time to work. And she was going to excel at it.

Charley raised her hand, a bit reluctant after Lafay's response to her last answer.
"Injected poisons, like from animal stings or bites, can be treated with a pressure bandage and very hot water. The bandage keeps the poison from being pumped through the bloodstream and the hot water breaks the poison down. Many poisons also have specific antidotes; a common one-in the non-magical world, at least-is calcium gluconate, a form of calcium."
She wondered if that might be a bit too thorough. She paid far too much attention, it seemed, to specific details like those.

"The poison leaving your system naturally is one for some poisons like vomiting, also taking the antidote. It mostly depends on the kind of poison and how much is in the system." K-Lee said, happy to know the answer.

"Take a bezoar or vomit to eject those poisonous materials out of the body." she said lowering her hand. That's what she did with the food poison drama.

Cass raises his hand and says, "It depends on the type and amount of the poison, or toxin in some cases, but for many a bezoar works just fine if there is one handy. Other than that the antidote or counter potion is needed and must be done in time and in the proper amount or method." Cass shutters again.
"In my case we had to use a counter potion as the amount I had ingested was unknown, it took 2 weeks for me to recover my strength and coherent thought. I'm just glad my great aunt was there, she is the potioneer of my mother's family."

Helena didn't expect that. Not. At. All. As for the answer... Riiight. So every sweet she is going to eat could be poisoned. It was a good thing she wasn't a sweet-freak.
When professor Lafay finished her question, Helena's hand shot in the air. "If the poison didn't cause too much... " What? Too much what? "... bad things," she quickly added, her cheeks slightly turning red, "the appropiate antidote would work."
Chloe was not liking this topic at all. Poisons, just ick. but that was the class discussion for today. she raised her hand and responded, "Yeah, something to induce vomiting would be good if the poison is not as potent. However usually the appropriate antidote in the right dose is best. A bezour can work for a lot of poisons but often one won't be able to find one on hand cause they are quite rare. They also don't work on everything so having a good knowledge of potions to brew a proper antidote as the best way to go.".
Jaina sheepishly raised her hand. "Um, professor in instances in which the poison as effected the skin, usually creams, ointments, and lotions are used." Hopefully, that wasn't said while she was watching her shoes. What Ben said troubled her a bit, but she made sure that it didn't effect her hair.

The first answer that came to Sierra's mind was a bezoar, but just as quickly as she raised her hand to suggest that, some other kid beat her to the answer. She frowned as she lowered her hand.
A few moments passed, and then when something else finally came to mind, Sierra raised her hand again. "Well, there's Golpalott's Third Law," she suggested. "It says that the antidote for a blended poison has to be stronger than the antidotes for each part that makes up the poison."

A few minutes later, I started having difficulty breathing, my line of vision was disrupted and blurred, my throat constricted and burned and my head was spinning. I dropped onto the kitchen floor and the next thing I knew, I was on my bed, having slept for five days straight. My Mum got out the truth from the mischievous boys and as a punishment, turned them into Possums for a day. It was a good thing they only added a tinge of venom, or else, I would never have survived it."
The First Year shrugged and smirked at the thought of her cousins. She nearly... died.
She raised her hand again, after thinking of possible ways of treating poisons from the body, "We could use Draught of Peace Potion to help sooth the people's agitation during their unstable states. And it also depends on the dosage, Professor. It is no use if you do not take the proper amount of antidote. You have to take in the antidote periodically, when the instructions tell you to do so otherwise, they are useless for your body,"
...
"Well, the draught of peace should not be used as an antidote... it would calm someone down, but it may give adverse reactions to the antidote you were going to use for the poison." She said to the girl.

A small smile was given to Arya and a wink was tempting, but he had the feeling Lafay would have something severe to say against such a gesture, so he refrained. "Wouldn't want to bore you, now would I?"
And then his eyes were back to Lafay. Not instant? Well, it had taken several minutes for his breathing to go south, so not deadly instantaneous, but quick enough. "It depends on the poison, Professor. For those affecting respiration ventilators are used. Other times if the poison gets into the digestive tract vomiting is a good idea to try and expel it from the system." Hopefully she wasn't looking for an answer like the ancient cultures used to utilize, like bleeding a patient out. And why exactly was she saying good to those that had been poisoned and smirking at those that hadn't?
"Yes, vomiting may help with some poisons, but others will be absorbed faster, and that will not help." She said.

Now, hearing the professor's reply to her, Sierra was really glad she'd waited and hadn't suggested bezoar right away. Bezoar was a correct answer, too, but she felt more confident about suggesting Golpalott's Third Law.
...and because she'd recently put a lot of thought into the law when suggesting her last answer, she already had an answer for this question, too. She raised her hand again.
"Each separate ingredient in a poison has its own antidote, but you can't simply combine all those antidotes together to fight the effects of the blended poison," she explained. She paused as she thought about the rest of the answer. This law wasn't something she knew a whole lot about, after all. "So what you've got to do is find another ingredient to add to the blended antidotes to change them into...well, one whole antidote...and then you have the antidote to the poison."
"So... a lot of you have been poisoned... most of you by accident. Can anyone tell me ways to combat the potion effects?" She said.
Luin was quite surprised at the number of people who had mentioned that they had been poisoned at one point in time. She then considered the next question Professor Lafay and posed. She raised her hand, "A blended poison cannot simply be combated by finding the antidotes to each part in the blended whole and mixing them together. Instead, you must find that single ingredient which transforms the ingredients into a combination which will counteract the poison."

Hmm, yes, she had been poisoned before and yes, it was during a potions lesson, but the Slytherin thought it’d be wise if she didn’t speak at the moment. Well, speak that answer. The professor could get ideas that it was okay to poison them during the lesson without their knowledge. Oh who was she kidding, of course that thought probably has already been through the professor’s mind.
Sitting quietly, she was going to raise her hand and say a few antidotes or something of the sort for how to battle poison but…well she got lost somewhere in Sierra’s answer. Huh?
Her answer after the answer made it even worse. Riigghht. That sounded right. Right?
Mmhmm. *nod* Yush, her answer was to agree with Sierra.

Golpalott's Law? Okay. That was kind of a bit out of Finn's depth. Picking up his quill, he wrote that down onto the parchment just so that he would remember to look it up later. Man. He was really turning into a nerd, maybe he was living up to his Ravenclaw name.
But then he heard that little slytherin speaking. And his mouth kinda turned into a little oh. That was Sierra. Who was a first year. How did she know what that meant! That was not good. He was sure she wasn't really a first year. He turned around slowly, and kind of stared at her. Yeah....causer he really wasn't confused right now.

Get back to your other seat? Why was he supposed to get back to his own seat while all those supposed sweethearts sat together in this class? Could not Mistress Lafay see that? Ha? Did you see that Lafay? Did you? Josh doubted she did ooor she was jealous so she did not want him to sit with Evelyn. Whatever. With an expressionless face, the Gryffindor stood up and walked slowly to...not his original seat but another closer to the Slytherin girl's. The professor had probably forgotten where he was sitting before that. Her job was not to watch where he was sitting after all. Hehehehe.
Then in silence, the boy just followed what was going on in the class. Poisoned? It was surprising to see how many people got poisoned in this class. Josh could remember that once a snake bit him, literally this time not a Slytherin student, but nothing had happened. Nah. He was too STRONG to be poisoned. No one could poison him! Since he did not have an answer, Josh kept watching the professor still in silence until she asked the last question. That question, only Sierra seemed to be able to answer. Hmmm.
''I think that is pretty simple, Professor'' Josh opened his mouth again standing up and looking oh-so-sure-of-himself as usual. ''And i can explain it in a simpler way. There's a poison. A complicated one. It is again to fool you and make you a victim to it, you'd think of the fallacy that you can create the antidote by blending the respective antidote of each ingredient of the so-called-poison.'' he grinned at the professor and went on ''But as i said that'd only make one a new victim of the poison. To avoid this, one should be clever enough to add an extra, effective antidote thing to combine all into a fine and true antidote to it.''
It was true, right? RIGHT! ''I can demonstrate an example of that, too but unfortunately...'' yet the boy halted in a sudden, just looking at Evelyn. What was he doing? He had no idea....perhaps. He was not sure. The only thing he knew that he HAD to do it. Totally forgetting about his previous words, the Gryffindor took a huge breath and his eyes were only but only fixed on his she-snake. ''I just have to do it. It is like a poison. One can understand. And this poison has no antidote to add and combine. Yes. No antidote.''
''ROSE!'' then he yelled the girl's middle name as he always called her. ''This is only for you :
My shoulder wants you to rest on it again, my robe misses your smell
My skin misses yours, come and touch once again save me from this hell
I am unable to sleep again, unable to smile truly
My hand wants yours, eyes might be hidden but teary
Please come back to me, do not make those enemies happy
Let me fight your boundaries and the darkness inside immediately
There’s no life without you, being without you is a torture of Fiendfyre
Such things i am trying to say aren’t enough even to describe the desire
The love i hold for you, with all my mind and heart
Please come back to me, don’t let this Gryffie die broken and hurt''
Once the poem was over, Josh smiled at the girl no matter how much she hated him, and sat back not even bothering to look at the professor.
What? What are you looking at?
He did not do anything wrong! Did he?

Oh, thank Merlin. Forget the fact that he didn't go back to his original seat. He was giving a decent and unrelated-to-her answer.
Smiling just the slightest, the Slytherin opened up her notebook and wrote 'Poisons' at the top before creating a smallish heart next to it. Wha? She enjoyed topics about poisons. There was nothing wrong about that.
...
What was wrong however, was Josh's head. Was he...what was he doing? Or saying for that matt- He was speaking poetry. It...would be a lie if she had said she didn't enjoy that though. Erm...there was nothing wrong with enjoying poetry either. It was actually kinda nice to hear. But in Lafay's class? Right in front of he-

OMG Lafay was looking at her.
Feeling as if she were a tiny ant caught underneath a giant foot, and she was going to die at any moment, the Slytherin stayed completely silent and unmoving for a moment with wide eyes before clearing her throat and answering. "I...I'm Rose?" Erm, yes, that did just come out as a question. Merlin she sooooo wished Raiden was here right now.
There was no need to elaborate on all of this right? Josh called her Rose...so what?

She knew it. She knew it was Evelyn since the day Carter asked her to 'protect' the girl.
Hecate's first instinct was to send her straight to detention. Torture Chamber. Shackle her in the werewolf restraints left by the previous Head of House and leave her there until the end of term.
Calm down... This could be useful...
"Evelyn Shepard." she hissed angrily. "No Slytherin should ever use a love potion on another person. Do I make myself clear? Which potion did you use?"
... It didn't seem to be amortentia... Probably something she bought from a store in Diagon Alley... something expired...
She glared at Josh... He was at fault too for letting himself be poisoned.
Super Slytherin Buddy | | ⅓ She-Snake Trio | | a normal girl with normal knees
Holy mother of Merlin, she was going to be eaten!
…
Wait, what?
"Love potion?" she repeated, sitting up from her slumped posture, as if she was trying to get under the table and hide, but this new accusation made her confused. Why the heck would she use a love potion on Josh? "You make yourself clear, but…I never used any love potion on him."
Was Josh under a love potion? Did someone put him under one!? Or did someone tell Lafay that Evelyn had? Whoever did it, they better pray to the heavens that the Slytherin girl never found out who did! If she did, whoever it was better be a fast runner.
Whoa! Jaina thought. What is going on? She looked around the classroom. Something was definitely up, but what? She jotted down some things like the antidotes they were discussing. She also made a note of the strange thing that happened so she could discuss later with Charley, Belle, Alice, and Ben. This is way too weird!

Simon was being relatively quiet, trying to answer when he could and someone hadn't already taken his answer and taking notes on what the others gave. Thinking his friend might actually behave this class, the last thing he expected was Josh getting up in the middle and reciting a love poem to Evelyn. He fought the urge to bang his head against something agasperated and thinking Lafay was gonna go ballistic on the younger Gryffindor. However she in turn responded in a way he hadn't expected either.
Love potion!? he mused looking back over to his friend, Was it possible?
"Yes, really," Jake nodded, scribbling down some notes and continuing to dooooooooooodle a Lafay super cool basilisk. "It's something I can't get to grips with, so sue me," he shrugged, and SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHED loudly.
Really?
They were getting into that stupid Josh kid's problems now? Why the heck was he staying here if that was the topic? He didn't care for Josh, and although Evelyn was the She-Snake he tolerated most at the moment, this all was boring him... so he continued with his elaborate doodle.

Hecate stared at the girl in her seat, her lips getting thinner and whiter as she pressed them together in anger.
... lie to me, will you?

Hecate had to compose herself...

"Morgan. If we are boring you, you may leave." She said with a hiss to her voice.
She summoned a vial from a cupboard. She took it to Evelyn Shepard and placed it on her desk. Cork still sealed inside it.
She then turned to the whole class and said "Anyone know what that vial could be? It's colourless and clear... if you could smell it, it would be odourless and if you were to taste it," She glared at Evelyn... "it would be tasteless."
