Visit with your Owl
 

This spot of the owlry is reserved for those people caring for and visiting their owls (or the school owls, if you don't have your own).

Rhea figured it was high time she visited Riven. He had a habit of hunting rats and lizards when she forgot to take him his speacial brand of owl treats. The problem was, lots of kids had rats as pets and she didn't want him eating any. She could still remember third year when he ate that girl's rat. Poor girl, but who told her to just have him running around the school like that. Ok so what if she shouldn't have Riven out of his cage in her room? She put her hand up and the owl came and landed heavily on her shoulder like he always did. Sh pet his head.
"How's my favourite boy doing?" She cooed sweetly at the bird as she rubbed his head.

Aiden made his way on up to the owlery; his owl, Archimedes, was acting crazy lately - not that that was too out of the ordinary for the bird - so he decided he better make a little time to go check up on the owl. The seventh year walked in just in time to catch the question coming from his dear friend Rhea Bellaire. He smiled a bit as he went over to Archimedes, though he answered Rhea's question. "Favorite boy? Well, I could be better, but thank you for inquiring." Hehh.

Rhea was busy petting her owl when she heard the familiar voice of Aiden. She was wondering when she would actually run into him, considering she hadn't seen her bestfriend since the train ride here. She continued petting Riv and answered without looking away from her bird at first.
'You're my second favourite actually," she replied and then finally turned to smirk at him.
'Where the heck have you been by the way?" She asked putting Riv on her shoulder so her hands were free to rest on her hip as she looked at him.

Aiden petted his owl, even as the thing began flapping its one wing like some maniac for no reason whatsoever. Did owls clean themselves like cats? They seemed like the type of animal to do that, but he'd never really taken notice. Maybe he was making that up. He smiled at Rhea's answer and dropped his hand from Archimedes before walking over to the Hufflepuff. "Second place, but I'll take it." He gave her owl a pat or two on the head and then leaned back, pressing his hands down against the windowsill. "I've been around," he answered vaguely. He didn't want to talk about himself and whatever was going on. "What about you? How's the whole thing with that guy going?"

Rhea looked at Aiden's owl as it spazzed. She had no idea why the boy didn't just leave the thing at home or something and get another one. It was such a weird owl. Though she suppsoed Riven was weird too. He was the most stuck up owl she had ever come across but she still manged to love the little thing. Hmm been around? It was evident that he was giving her that I don't want to talk about it now vibe and Rhea picked up on it though she certainly was planning on asking about it later. She was his best friend after all, he shouldn't keep secrets. She groaned when he asked about her situation. She didn't know how to describe it. Part of the reason she was in the owlery anyways, was to come clean to her mom about the drama and ask for help in getting out of it.
"I donno how it's going actually. I don't even know if it's going." She leaned against the wall and looked at him.
"Jack is what I'll call a free spirit right now." more like guy who walks around kissing every girl he came across but he wasn't her boyfriend or anything so she just had to deal with it.
"it's all really frustrating, one minutes he's totally into me, then the next I har he's getting cozy with not one but two other girls."

Hmmh. It was like Riven and Archimedes were complete opposites or something. But Aiden loved Archimedes as his owl - he was such a spaz. Heh heh. He looked to Rhea as she started telling him how her whole romantic life was going. Not so good, unfortunately.. "Free spirit," he repeated. She described the boy further and Aiden took a breath. "Well... that's how most guys are. You really can't rely on us when it comes to romance." Oh, no. Was this cynicism? Yes. He lifted an eyebrow, turning to her again. "So... what are you gonna do?"

Rhea ran her hand along the pane of glass and looked out at the grounds for a bit. Most of the students there looked so care free and happy and busy it seemed.She sighed and looked back to Aiden, then to his crazy owl. He really ought to poke some sense into the thing or at least get a back up owl or something, but Aiden was obviously attached to the animal.
"It's not that he's not romantic...it's just he's romantic with EVERYONE. It's so frustrating. I mean I know we're not together or anything but still." She shrugged at his next question. There was really nothing she could do, she just had to hope he came around or stop liking him, the latter seemed more practical because it was obvious Jack was set in his ways.
"Stop liking him I guess..." she said in a small voice. She knew it would most likely never happen but she was getting really good at hiding her emotions.

Cass climbed up the stone steps to the feathery owlery. She drew her Slytherin scarf more tightly around her since it was much colder up here than in the castle. She sung softly as she looked around for her black eagle owl, Cassiopeia. Towards the end of the song that she was singing, Cassandra saw Cassiopeia swooping down towards her from her perch at a beam high up.

"Hey there darling." She told the bird fondly as it landed on her outstreched hand. "Sorry I haven't been able to visit you lately...everything has been so busy.." The own hooted in reply, as if it understood everything that she had said "Oh I missed you so much..." She told the bird as she offered her some owl treats from her hand.

She watched as the black bird ate the owl treats that she had offered. There really was something about this bird that calmed her down...she gently stroked its feathery back as it just stayed there, perched on her covered arm.

Cass didn't know how long she had stayed there, but she knew that it would be dark soon. So with a reluctant sigh, she moved her arm, making the owl fly off and she said with a giggle "Bye Cass. I'll visit soon, ok?"

It wasn't often that Kel came into the owlery. Usually, his owl just stayed in his dormitory. But since she wasn't there, and Kel hated feeling like he was neglecting her attention, he decided to come see if she was in the owlery.

And, she was. Almost as soon as he stepped into the tower, he saw the familiar little ball of feathers zoom at him. He laughed lightly as the elf owl landed on his shoulder and nipped at his hair affectionately. "Hey, Jazz." he greeted the bird, walking further into the room. He made his way over to the open window, leaning his hands on it so that he could look out onto the grounds. As he leaned forward, Jasmine hopped off of his shoulder and landed on the window sill. She hopped around his hands for a bit, then settled down between them. "Odd little creature, aren't you?" Kel murmured, smiling fondly down at the bird.

Selena walked over to the owlery. She was long overdue with her visit with Hollie. She looked around, the owl treats in Selena's bag as she looked around for her pretty snowy owl. Selena's eyes then fell on the glint of an owl with a silver band around her leg with an emerald on it. Perfect! She found her owl! "Hollie," Selena grinned as the owl hopped onto Selena's outstretched arm. Yay!! Her owl was still there, and looking pretty. Psh. Her owl always looked pretty.

Emma walked over to go see her owl Snowy. Snowy saw her coming up and flew to Emma. "Hello Snowy!" she exclaimed, happily and extended her arm for her owl to hop on it. The owl hopped on and gave Emma a loving look. She giggled and petted her owl. She loved her owl. She heard someone talking. Who could it be? She turned around to see Sel there. "Hello Sel and Hollie!" she exclaimed, chirpily. "How are you two?"

She turned to see a guy by himself.. it was Kel. "Hey!" she grinned and waved to him, beaming a fun smile. "How's it going?" she asked.

Selena smiled when she saw Emma and gave her a wave with... the hand that was holding her clutch. Oh, smart. "Hey Emma! And Snowy, I'd give you a hug but Hollie would eat me," Selena said with a giggle. She fumbled to open her clutch and pulled out a treat for Snowy and Hollie. "I've been well, Hollie... well, I've been neglecting my owl a tiiiinnnnyyy bit, like... really tiny," Selena said, smiling a bit. "How have you been? And Snowy?" she asked.

Selena saw Emma talk to someone and she gave him a wave to. Sadly she didn't really learn from her mistake and waved at him with her bag. Psh, at least she wasn't threatening to throw it. Hehehe. "Hiyaaa," she said. Awkward. Okay.

Hearing two female voices in the room, Kel tried to become invisible, so as to not intrude on them. Wait - he was here first, so they intruded, not him. But either way, he stayed very quiet, staring out onto the grounds as he heard the girls talk. Only when he heard his name called did he realize that he might actually know them.

Turning around after waiting for Jasmine to fly back onto his shoulder, Kel saw the girl that had called his name. Oh - Emma! He knew her! He didn't, though, know her friend. Ah, well. "Hi, Emma." he greeted, walking over to her and the other girl. As she waved at him, he gave her a smile. "I believe we haven't met before. I'm Keltan Micheals." he held out a hand for the girl to shake, just as Jasmine high-pitch-hooted right in his ear, making him wince.

Rolling his eyes at the bird, he looked back at Emma. "It's going good, thanks. How are you?"

Selena smiled back. "Selena Zabini-Riddle, it's nice to meet you Keltan," Selena said politely. She would shake his hand but she was holding her bag. "Unless you feel like shaking my bag or an owl, I can't really shake your hand," Selena pointed out. Hehehe, smart Selena to choose to use this bag today of all days. She looked at his owl.

"She's pretty, what's her name?" Selena asked, managing to pull another treat and and holding it to his owl. "You don't mind, do you?" she asked, before pulling the treat back. Because she didn't know if the owl was like on a diet or something. That was possible.

Chuckling shortly, Kel moved his hand. He didn't much feel like shaking her owl, so instead he ran it through his hair, slightly embarrassed. What was with younger girls making him feel like a bit of an idiot, lately? Meh. He was getting old. "Pleasure to meet you." he replied, with a quick nod.

He smiled, though, when Selena complimented his owl. "Her name's Jasmine." he told her, chewing on his lower lip. "And no, it's fine. She probably would've found the treats eventually, anyway, so it's good that you offered one first." It was true; Jazz had a scary-good treat-sense. And, of course, Kel had forgotten to bring one for her.

Selena smirked back in reply because no one wanted to shake an owl. It will only lead to pain. She looked back at the owl. "Jasmine... did you name it after the flowers?" she asked. Selena had taken a liking to studying the meaning of flowers over the summer and she had rather stuck with it. It was rather interesting, the subject that is. Not the flowers themselves.

Selena let Jasmine eat the treat, smiling. "Have you not fed her the treats yet?" Selena asked as she fed Hollie another one. She spoiled her owl with treats and all. Not exactly her fault... maybe guilt? Either way, Hollie got way more treats than she needed. "What year are you in?" Selena asked. Because everyone was taller, and as Maddie pointed out so kindly, first years were taller. Plus he was like... tall... really tall. Selena decided she didn't like tall people now. psh.

At Selena's question, Kel looked at Jasmine and her gray-and-brown feathers, then shrugged. "Not really, no. I just got hte idea, and I thought it sort of fit. Jasmine sounds, to me, like a bit of a regal name. And Jazz here is more than a little spoiled." He tried not to think about how that might sound weird coming from an eighteen year old boy talking about a five inch tall owl. But, whatever.

"I completely spaced the treats," he told her, nodding his head slowly in mock-shame. "And Jasmine would've realized that soon enough, and would have started attacking my pockets if you hadn't shown up and generously shared one of yours." The sad thing was, was that he was being completely serious - not joking at all. Jasmine had an obsession. "I'm in my seventh year." he answered simply, with a sharp nod. "You?"

Selena giggled. The name seemed to be taller than the owl who wasn't exactly the biggest thing ever. "Well, Jasmine's a pretty name," Selena said, and the flowers were pretty too. And the tea was yummy. Selena giggled when he said that Jasmine was a bit spoiled though. Personally she thought most owls were spoiled with treats and everything, it was a bit hard to find one that wasn't overfed by students.

Selena smirked. "Maybe I should've let her attack you then, must be a sight to see," she teased. But Selena wasn't exactly fond of flying feathers and clawed faces, it looked painful. "And it doesn't matter, I like feeding the owls... it's fun," she mused as Hollie flapped her wings a bit. She wondered how they kept their feathers so... white. "Second year," Selena replied. "So you're taking your N.E.W.T.'s this year then," Selena said, pointing out the obvious. Selena was good at that. Hehehe.

"Thanks, I try." Kel replied, one eyebrow raised. He really couldn't remember where the name had come from; he'd just thought of it. Although, he was proud to admit that he had thought of a much more manly name for his parent's mail owl: Twitch. Fitting, and manly. Kel was proud of himself for that one.

He shook his head, laughing at Selena's comment. "The bird has a small body, and a big attitude. Her attacks are... well, they're somethin'." He remembered the time last term, when Jasmine and Annie's cat had gotten together, and Jasmine does not like cats. That wasn't exactly a happy meeting. "N.E.W.T.'s." he repeated, groaning quietly. "Yeah, those. And I'm not looking forward to them, I can tell you that." Was anyone ever excited for the big wizarding tests? And what did NEWT stand for, again? Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests, if Kel remembered right. Now that sounded wonderful. [/sarcasm]

Selena nodded. Unsure of what to say. "You're welcome... I think?" she said, confused. Mmmhmm. Selena was fail. Hollie hooted in Selena's ear and she winced a bit. Ouch. At least Hollie didn't bite, that was reassuring. At least... she was pretty sure Hollie didn't bite. Eh. Whatever, as long as if Hollie didn't bite her she was fine.

"Well, she doesn't look like she eats people, so she's safe," Selena giggled. At least... she hoped the owl didn't eat people. Merlin! That would be impossible. Something not even one third of her height eating her! The owl wasn't even one-fourth and Selena was short. Selena chuckled at his response to the mention of N.E.W.T.'s. Which she had forgotten what it stood for. Whatever, she couldn't really care anyways. "Who looks forward to exams? They're made to make you suffer," Selena pointed out.

Lilyana walked up to the owlery to visit her snowy owl, Rein. She looked up, searching for his bright white feathers. She spotted him and called up, holding out her arm for him to land on, Rein, come here! She smiled when he swooped down gracefully and nibbled her finger in affection. She stroked his feathers and said, I've missed you too, Rein. I know I haven't been up here as much as I should, but at least I see you when I get a letter from Mum and Dad. She giggled when he hooted quietly, seeming to answer as if he were saying it's ok. I forgive you. She got some owl treats out of her robes pocket and gave them to Rein. She looked around while Rein was eating his treats, looking at all the beautiful owls the students had.

Brittany walked up to the owlery to visit her favorite boy.... well boy owl... Keegan. She hadnt really been sening him out anywhere because he had gotten himself lost last time she did and bubba had to go find him so she was a little scared to do it again. She did want to send a letter to her parents though but since they went back to the states she was extra worried about the flight for keegan.

She looked around trying to spot keegan and luckily he was sitting at eye level easily spotted. She walked over to him quickly. "Hiya boy." She said petting him. "sorry im keeping you couped up in here but you scared me the last time." she said softly. He justed looked at her in what seemed like a sad look. If an owl could make a sad look. "I promise im trying to do better and get over the fear so be patient with me." she said as he nuzzled her hand gently as if he understood. She smiled at sat there with him a little while longer

Emma turned and laughed. "Aww Sel! Hello Hollie! Oh no! Sel you have!! Poor Hollie!" she exclaimed. She smiled and then looked at Snowy, who nodded her head in agreement. Emma loved her owl. "I've been really busy! Great though! Meeting new people and the Beauxbatons, Durmstrang people!" she explained. Snowy gave a hoot. "And I think Snowy's been pretty well too." She laughed and gave Snowy a rub and turned to Sel. "So what's new with you?" she asked happily.

She tried to hide a laugh when Sel threw the bag at Kel. Oh dear..
Emma laughed and grinned. Kel's owl was way too cute!! "I'm good, just came to visit my owl. I've been busy with helping people around Hogwarts." she explained. She nodded at what Sel said. Jasmine was a very pretty owl. "Yeah.. Exams..." she said. She made a disgusted face.. ew.. "Well good luck with NEWT's I'm sure you'll do well!" she said with a grin. Always the ever-supportive Emma. Her owl gave a quick hoot. She smiled at Snowy. "Yep and Snowy thinks you'll do a great job to!"

Ever-Lily made her way to the Owlery - she was sure Azumi missed her a lot. She looked around for a while, and finally spotted her tiny grey owl perched on the ground, looking happy.
"Baby!!!" She exclaimed, and scooped her owl into her hand and perched her on her forearm. "Who's the sweetest? That's right, Azumi is." Ever whispered, nodding to her owl. Azumi cocked her head to one side and stared at her with big, loving eyes.

Awww!

Ever walked around silently for a while, maybe stop and chat with someone.
