| | Transfiguration Lesson I, Part Two: FIRE! [On the Grounds] A sizable section of the grounds, far away from trees, and shrubs and most things flammable, has been designated for the next part of class.
Professor Kingsley is standing there, directing you all to gather near a blue line glowing in the snow. "Now that we're all here, I want you to spread out. The only things at risk of catching here are yourselves, but if you are careful, that won't happen. You may pair up if you like. Use the focalia spell to conjure your wood and then, to test your wood, try to light it with incendio."
He paused, turning to the younger students. "Don't be afraid to ask for help, either from me or another student. And don't worry if all you can manage is a stick or two at a time that doesn't burn. It takes practice."
Pausing, he looked over everyone. "Safety first, please, and remember that if the fire seems a bit much, aguamenti is your friend." |

With a very disappointed look on his face, Treyen flicked his wand and said "Aguamenti" before seeing the water put a stopper on...fire. Bye-bye flames. And then he Evanesco'ed the wet wood off the ground. There. He was done. "Great lesson, Professor, see you soon!" he said, taking his bag along with him as he...left. Distracted by keeping eyes on Mister Fletcher at all times, Professor Kingsley acknowledged the boy without looking. "Until later, Mister Lockhart." Quote:

Sadly, Jenny pointed her wand at the fire she and Kurumi just made. "Aguamenti." It took a while but eventually the flames died down. Then she waved her wand to make the used wood vanish. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor!" Jenny said as she gathered her blanket and other things. Then she tried to wave goodbye to Raiden (was he even looking?) and turned to Kurumi as she headed back to the castle. "Do you want to roast marshmallows later?" "Good day, and good work," he said, still distracted. Quote:

Thankfully, the professor put it out before Raiden had to, and before Fletcher had any more of a chance to protest that it was 'only practise'. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he looked around at the other students before taking a few steps toward the castle.
"Great class, sir," he called in the professor's direction. It had been; they'd had fire and nobody had lit themselves up or anything. That was a triumph in itself. The young man paused, to make sure that nobody would need help before he went back to the castle.
Or to make sure that Fletcher wouldn't be conjuring any more furniture to light on fire. Either way. "Thank you for your assistance today, Mister Kururugi," he said as the prefect left. Quote:

She was looking forward to practicing incendio a bit more because she didn't feel like she'd really gotten a hold on it during class. "Thanks for the great lesson Professor!" Alice said with a smile and tiny wave before she was off and heading towards the castle. He allowed his gaze on Mister Fletcher to break when the girl addressed him. "Ah, that is fine for now, but come by the practice room and I can teach you the vanishing spell."
And then, eyes back to the boy. Quote:

"---tice," Fletcher finished his sentence with a small open-mouthed "o" expression. Whups. Ya caught me, professor.
Slowly edging away from the now-soggy desk, Fletcher hid his hands behind his back. Oh, class dismissed. That's great. He edged away even farther but halted on the spot when Kingsley called him out.
"Er... yes sir," he said, nodding slowly and waiting for the rest of their classmates to leave. Maybe the 'word' he wanted to say would just be 'awesome,' followed by 'that was awesome. Good work. I'm impressed.' Maybe????! Preston crossed his arms in front of his chest, wand still in hand, as he made his way to the boy. "Mister Fletcher," he said, sternly. "Would you care to tell me exactly what you were thinking when you began your... display?"
Eyes narrowed, he tilted his head to the side as he considered the boy.

"Excuse me, sir. I don't think I can get this.." She pointed to the little bonfire she had done, ".. vanished." Because she didn't want to risk that evanesco thing, her cookie was crunched instead of disappearing last time she did that.
Louisa mounted her bag and tugged her wand, "Have a good day, sir, that was really.." Fun? "..great lesson." Uh-huh. She liked almost all the lessons as a matter of fact but still conjuring a bonfire was massive she would go and promise Johnny to roast him a marshmallow of her own made fire. How cool was that?

Patroclus didn't want to stop dancing around his fire, but it seemed he would have to.
"Aguamenti!" the Fire dancer, uttered pointing his wand at the fire, which was doused with a spray of water. Rendering it a pile of steaming ash, "Evanesco!" the boy added, before re holstering his wand. "Thanks for a enlightening lesson Sir," get it....Enlightening! "See you next time!"

Eyes narrowed, he tilted his head to the side as he considered the boy. What's uh, what's with all the staring, professor? Fletcher was dying to ask, but of course dared not to since he had a feeling that would come off as being smart and Fletcher liked Professor Kingsley too much to antagonize him further.
"Errrrrrrrr," he started, very articulately. "I was thinking, sir... well I was wondering, really, if I could conjure things that didn't necessary look like firewood but were made of wood and could therefore still be flammable??? So I imagined a desk," not just any desk, but he left that part out, "and I was surprised it worked!"
And it had been AWESOME.
He tried to smile politely, angelically even, but Kingsley's narrowed eyes made his facial expression fall dreadfully flat. Well. The transfiguration professor shouldn't be that upset. It could be a lot worse. Fletcher's initial idea, after all, had been to conjure up the Slytherin table from the Great Hall.

"And, did you consider how your spectacle might influence younger students who are not a proficient as you? What foolhardy task it might inspire them to try?"
Because, like it or not, the boy was a champion and thus is a position to influence a great number of students. "Or, perhaps, what it could have provoked among students who imagine themselves your peer or your superior who, had I not ended class, tried to out do you?"
There were two words to describe the expression on Professor Kingsley's face. Annoyed.
And disappointed.

There were two words to describe the expression on Professor Kingsley's face. Annoyed.
And disappointed. The little hope that had remained on Fletcher's face quickly fell faster than a fancy souffle on a hot day in Hades. It wasn't the stern expression or the curt way Professor Kingsley was speaking that impacted Fletcher the most.
It was the disappointment evident in his tone and expression... even amongst all the ruffles. "I... I didn't even think that far ahead," Fletcher answered in a tiny, miserable tone. He most definitely looked like an admonished child... even though there was a teeny, invisible Vindictus-like devil on his shoulder flexing his biceps at the implication that people looked up to Fletcher.
Heh. People admired him. And his skillzz. HEHEHEH. That was cheering. And then yeah, there were people like Raiden who considered themselves superior to him and would have stepped in and shut Fletcher's fire-party down faster than he could say, 'fwooper.'
So what was Kingsley going to do with Fletcher? Or worse... TO Fletcher?! Not throw him in detention, surely.... maybe he should say something.......
"Sorry about that er... situation, sir," Fletcher looked up and nodded somberly. And? "And I won't let it happen again." In your line of sight. Sir.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger "You did not think," the professor repeated. "What if everyone had tried to copy you? Or had tried to make even larger things to set ablaze? I expect you to set a good example for your fellow students. You represent the school and are held to a higher standard."
Sighing heavily, he dropped his arms. "Come to the transfiguration practice room after the third task. We will continue this, then. Now, go."

Hogwarts RPG Name: TBD Gryffindor Hogwarts RPG Name: Zara H. Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB Did he know Fletcher entertained ideas of setting things of epic proportion on fire, and encouraging his fellow classmates to do just that? How would he know though? How would he know that just a few moments ago Fletcher had been totally determined to conjure up a table from the Great Hall and egg LiL Lockhart on to making a campfire out of it?
Unless... Professor Kingsley was a legilimens?! GASP! Yes, that had to be it! He was invading Fletcher's miiiiiiind!!! There was no way he could have figured the Hufflepuff's obvious pyromaniatic intentions otherwise!!!!!!
"Uh uh uh," the boy tried to imagine his brain as a tightly sealed safe as he mulled over Kingsley's words. He squinted his eyes in concentration and then nodded hurriedly to the professor. "I'm sorry." Again. "Yes sir." He tucked his wand in his back pocket and bowed his head in a perfect picture of piety, shuffling out of the room somewhat... backwards.
You weren't supposed to turn your back to a legilimens, right? Wasn't that the rule or something?
