Moooooooo. :) || Have a supermegafoxyawesomehot Christmas.

"Reverto!" Jenny looked sadly as her perfectly blue blanket turned back into a scarf again. Now...what to do next. Jenny closed her eyes as she pondered.

"Hm..."
Jenny took a peek at the scarf. She tried to go back to the moments when her mother would seam blankets magically for her customers. Quickly Jenny held her wand again. "Vestis vellus!" The scarf now became a multi-colored fluffy blanket. Eh, maybe she was still thinking about her comfy blue blanket too much...

Hmm. Maybe she should go for big. Bigger was better.....maybe something that would fit a horse, yeah? Yeah. Closing her eyes for a moment, she visualized the blanket that she wanted, basically...it was big. She hadn't thought to put any thought into the color.

"Vestis vellus." Eyes now open and trained on the scarf in front of her, image of the blanket in her mind, she flourished her wand in a curly-q motion. Ah. It was big like she wanted, but the color was a tad surprising. She had thought it would be yellow like her scarf. Still, it was a nice blanket. Something she would snuggle up with, and something she bet her horse would wear. Cause she would make her. Heh.

She flourished her wand again and murmured, "Reverto." Watching as the blanket untransfigured back into the long yellow scarf. Time to start again.

"Vestis vellus!"

When Ivory had first started practicing the spell, the results had been less than perfect. In fact so much so, that her first result had been ...a handkerchief.

Staring down in disbelief at the wispy thing she could barely blow her nose with, she gave a little snort and aimed her wand. "Reverto."

Watching the fabric intently she watched as the threads lengthened, became sheerer, widened and rippled to go back to its original scarf state.

Hmmm. Maybe if she visualized that backwards? But while thinking of woolen thread?

Trying to replay the whole thing in her mind, she narrowed her eyes in concentration and pronounced the incantation even as her wand moved in a curly q.

"Vestis vellus." Imagining the thread become thicker, the patterns to broaden, the width to expand, she watched as her small scarf grew.

Eying the finished product, she picked it up and weighed it in her hands. Well at least it was woolen now. Before her lay a pillow case sized piece of wool. Feeling like she was on the right track, she made quick work of reverting it and trying again.
"Vestis vellus."
"Reverto."
"Vestis vellus."
"Reverto."
"Vestis vellus."
"Reverto."
"Vestis vellus."
"Reverto."
It took quite a few tries to get the fabric to a large size and even longer to get it to the right thickness.

Examining her recent outcome, she stared at it woefully. Sure it looked woolen but it sure didn't seem warm. Reaching out and touching the fabric, she shook her head. It didn't even feel warm. Sighing, she took a few deep breaths before willing herself to try again.

It was easy to think of size and color and what not but now she needed to concentrate. Visualize. A warm woolen blanket. Flipping through her memories of what her mind associated with warmness, she thought of her blanket. The one folded neatly over her bed at home.

This time when she pronounced the incantation, she felt the rightness in the way she said the words, the good weight of the motions of her wand."Vestis vellus."

Squeezing her eyes shut, she couldn't help her ears perking up at the sound of fabric lightly falling on the floor. Popping open one eye then the other, she stared down at her accomplishment.

Grinning, she picked it up and wrapped it around herself. Success was sweet...and warm!

Dianna concentrated. She practiced the wand movement before doing it again.
Trying one more time she spread out her scarf and did the curly q movement of her wand while muttering, "Vestis Vellus."
She concentrated so hard that it felt like her wand was about to break.
It felt like a century before Dianna looked back at her scarf. Or blanket. "Yes!" she exclaimed as she snuggled her blanket.
"Reverto." Dianna said as the blanket turned back into the scarf once more.

Transfiguration seemed to be the same. "Thank you professor, I will try harder," she smiled with just a hint of nervousness.

She then turned her attention to the boy she had asked for help as he seemingly effortlessly changed her monster of a scarf back to it's normal state and in a neat little pile on the desk. "Woooooooooow," she whisperer under her breath. "Thanks," she smiled holding her wand out again. "Concentration....visualization....I think I can handle that."

She closed her eyes and visualized a giant knitted blanket that her mother had made. It was the same blanket that she had slept with for years and years and held the strongest impact for her. After she had fixed that image in her mind, she them imagined it folded in a nicely on her desk. The image planted firmly in her mind, she repeated the wand movement and said, "Vestis vellus," still with her eyes closed.

She slowly opened her eyes to see that the blanket was now resting on her desk. A huuuuuuuuuge smile grew across her face. "I did it!"
"No problem," Fletcher flashed the Gryffie a grin and settled back into his seat to watch her work. He could tell she was really concentrating from the whole eyes-closed-eye-of-the-tiger expression on her little face.

Upon seeing the big, pink knitted scarf suddenly appear on the desk, Fletcher let out a big round of applause. "Awesome job! Let's hear it for... er... what's your name, kiddo?"

Merlin, it looked like she had the potential to be really really good at transfiguration! Better than Fletcher, even!

"Thank you," she smiled bowing her head slightly in thanks. "I'm Kurumi, erm, Kurumi Hollingberry." She offered her small hand for a handshake. Then she blushed as she realized that she did not know his name either, but being so blunt as to ask who are you? seemed so rude..."May I ask your name?" Well, perhaps a little too formal, but at least her mother would be proud of her keeping her manners. She would have to give him some of her baked cookies as a thank you gift for helping her out.

"Thank you Professor Kingsley!" Kurumi chirped feeling especially proud of herself. Before turning it into a different blanket, she had to first turn it back to its original scarf form. Kurumi closed her eyes again and envisioned her white scarf and said, "Reverto!" loudly and clearly. She peaked through her eyelashes and saw that her blanket had returned back to being her boring white scarf.

Hmmm...another blanket. She searched her memories for another image to hold onto. She then remembered another blanket from her childhood that featured her favorite character. Keeping the image nice and clear in her mind, she waved her wand and cast "Vestis vellus" once again with her eyes closed deep in concentration. This time, while her blanket was not in a neat folded pile, a Totoro blanket stretched itself across her desk. She picked it up and wrapped it around herself. Aaaaah, nice and warm.

Apparently, Arya liked the first blanket more than she thought, because that's the only one she could transfigure her scarf into. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get the blanket to change size, shape, or color. Forget attempting to transfigure it folded.

She tried once, twice.....three times. No luck. She still got the same cozy wool blanket. Twirling her wand, she glanced around at the other student's blankets, hoping for some inspiration.

"Vestis vellus." Flourishing her wand, she watched as her scarf transfigured itself into the same wool blanket. Frowning at the blanket, she poked it with her wand.

Stupid soft wool blanket.

Emily practiced the movement a few times on its own before repeating with the incantation. When she was satisfied, she combined them "Vestis Vellus"
It worked. Emily wished it hadnt. Sure, instead of her scarf in her lap there was now a neatly folded blanket, but the fact that it was a blanket wasnt the point.
The fact that it was her sister's blanket was. Tears sprang to her eyes, and she hugged the blanket to her. Curling into a ball, only just managing to stay upright, she began to cry in earnest.

It takes a lot of concentration at first, but then it just gets easier as you do it. But don't try it yet, you might put yourself in a coma." he warned her. Mostly it would give her a seriously nasty headache, but he didn't want to be the one responsible for hurting a first year.

Diggy nodded and moved back a little bit to give her some room to work. "I'll stay right here to help you if you need me too," he reassured her with a smile. "Go ahead and give it a go," he urged her gently.

"We can do magic without talking?" She repeated amazed by this very fact. That'd be really awesome if she could do that to those who annoy her. Like Jimbo and his turtle. But.. "Aww. Fifth year?" All hope was down the drain now. Maybe she could convince the nice boy to teach her the basics later… after the teacher's not around

Back to the lesson, Louisa took one glance at the board to remember the quite words. With the Professor there, she really wanted to succeed this time. One tiny blanket please.. One tiny blanket please.. One tiny blanket please..One tiny blanket please.. One tiny blanket please, she thought desperately. " Vestis.. vellus." And quickly closed her eyes.

Well, she wouldn't know if it worked or not like that and … nobody laughed or shouted which meant the result wasn't disastrous. Slowly her eyelids were apart and a small blue woolen handkerchief was laid in front of her in place of the scarf.

Ookaaay. She looked up at the teacher with an uncertain smile. "That… is considered a tiny blanket, sir?" Which what she told her wand to do secretly so she didn't fail. Her eyes moved to the nice boy standing next to the teacher for support. Like he could clap his hands for her or even cheer? She would give him the sweets inside of her pocket if he did. It was better to do BOTH. Because he was cool like that.

Before starting over with the spell, the boy sighed, and then it came the flourish-whatever movement of the wand, "Vestis vellus" he said, all his focus placed on visualizing the blanket...the blank---Oh my Gilderoy!

Eyes widening slightly, his blue/purple or purple/blue, whatever, scarf was now half a blanket, half a purple blanket, and that couldn't be good.

Eyes narrowed at the creation, he flourished his wand once more, "Reverto!" if his scarf wasn't back to normal, then he'd give this whole class up after OWLs. But...it was back to normal, haha. More Transfiguration for him.

His eyes couldn't help but fall onto the girl, who seemed younger than him, that managed to transfigure (successfully) the scarf into a blanket.

He'll get there. No problem.

"You have to use 'Reverto'" he said, nodding approvingly, and then proceeded to embarrass try the blanket spell once more to show her how 'Reverto' was used.

"Vestis vellus" he said, and did the right wand movement with his eyes closed, only to open them and find out that his scarf was now a purple blanket, oh-so-very-soft purple blanket, YES! He did it! "Now Reverto" he nodded at the girl, "It's simple" for her, because she'd mastered the blanket one, "You make a flourish movement, and then say 'Reverto'...pointing at the blanket, of course" he said, gesturing towards the blanket. But since that was all about visualization..."Reverto!" he said, and he had his purple/blue scarf back. "See?" he was the happiest boy ever.
Fee listened to the boy carefully. She was really thankful that he had walked over to her. What would she do otherwise?!

"Ahh i see",she smiled.

Aiming her wand at the blanket she made a flourish movement.
"Reverto."

Tah-dah. Her Slytherin scarf was back.

"Oh that was easy"
, she said surprised,"thank you... err.. whats your name by the way?"

The boy smiled, no, grinned.

Yes, because he'd gotten the spell right and received compliments from Professor Kingsley. Life couldn't be better right now. There was a nod as he took notice of the Professor moving to the center of the class.

He'll try it one more time.

Tah-dah. Her Slytherin scarf was back.

"Brilliant!" she'd done it at the first try, he didn't remember if the same thing happened to him or not, but that's not what he needed to focus on. He will be trying to transfigure his scarf again.

"I'm Treyen, and you would be...?" a Slytherin, but he didn't know the name. As long as she didn't turn out to be like the Chicken and the Giraffe, then she was okay. If not, then he'll keep away.

Back to his scarf. He focused more this time, and since closing his eyes seemed to help, then he did it. Eyes closed, he imagined a very light, but very warm blanket, perhaps blue, though he felt okay with purple. Wand movement, and..."Vestis vellus!" he said, eyes opening as soon as the spell was done and a wide smile on his face as a blueish purple fleece throw was in the place of his scarf.

Ha. He knew the spell now. Awesome!

It was a very soft throw, but he wanted the scarf back. "Reverto!" now, the scarf was there, if not a bit more softer than before, but he was ready to move to the next spell. Yes.

He seemed like a nice guy, fortunately.

"I am Feenella Schwarzberg", she said,"a slytherin firstie.Nice to meet you Treyen."

Oh yes,Fee talk about obvious. Duuh.

Mental head smack.

She watched Treyen using the spells again. Maybe she should try again too?!Practising was always good.

"Vestis villus"
, she aimed her wand at the scarf.
Oh yaaay, a sliver and green blanket appeared. This really wasnt to hard. Why did she have problems again?!
"Reverto!"
And there was her scarf again. Easy going. Fee smiled widely at her scarf and resisted the urge to clap her hands.

Noting the passing professor and his look of approval at his attempt, Simon moved to try again. The gryffindor boy doing his best to try and visualize the characteristics of the blanket he was trying for before aiming his wand once more at his scarf.

"Vestis Vellus!" he cast once more with a more smooth motion of his wand. The red and gold scarf soon disappearing to give way to a burgundy wooly blanket that could easily work at the end of the bed causing the fifth year to smile.

Hearing the instructions on the rest of the class to try other blankets once they got the hang of it, Simon cast a quiet reverto again to return the blanket back before repeating the original spell and trying again. This blanket looking more like a woolen quilt of the two prominant colors of his scarf.

Alice nodded at the Professor before laying the blanket back down on the ground. What did she want to change it into this time...How about more of a checkered wool blanket?

"Reverto," Alice said clearly, the blanket shifting back to its original scarf form.

Alice closed her eyes and pictured a wool red and gold checkered blanket, just big enough to fit around her.

"Vestis Vellus," Alice said, moving her wand in the curly q motion. She smiled as she watched the scarf become exactly what she had pictured. This was turning out to be rather entertaining!

"If I could have everyone's attention for a moment? We're going to talk about some more spells." Preston paused, waiting for the class to settle down.

Unholstering his wand, he flicked it at the board, adding the words, escarpa and manus under vestis and the words letrom and cotone under vellus.

"Vestis was the part of the spell that dictated what you were making. The same can be said for escarpa and manus. Scarf and gloves or mittens, respectively. If you find yourself without those items when the weather turns chill, you can conjure them."

He paused, before continuing.

"As I mentioned before, vellus helps focus on what type of blanket you're going to create. It modifies the vestis spell. Once you are proficient and focused enough, you may be able to simply concentrate and use vestis. However, using the modifier is helpful. Letrom and cotone are similar. Letrom designates leather, and likely would only modify manus. Cotone is for cotten. So, vestis cotone would give you a light cotton throw, much like a light picnic blanket. Manus vellus would give you woolen gloves or mittens. And so forth."

He flicked his wand at the board once more, rearranging the words into their likely pairs:

Vestis vellus - wool blanket or throw
Vestis cotone - cotton blanket
Manus vellus - wool gloves/mittens
Manus letrom - leather gloves
Escarpa vellus - wool scarf
Escarpa cotone - cotton scarf

"The wand movement for escarpa is simple. You just draw a line in the air, top to bottom, as you say the incantation. Manus is also simple, being a small circular flick." He demonstrated each movement.

"Your homework will be, in part, to practice these spells, so don't worry about that now. Give your blanket spell another shot if you'd like and then revert your blankets back into scarfs and let's discuss what other things could be useful in the theme of today's lesson." He paused, a eyebrow raising, "Which, if you haven't guessed, is focused around staying warm. Any thoughts?"

All hope was down the drain now.

Pinky swear .
He nodded. "Of course we can do magic without talking." He said simply, but he knew to a first year that idea seemed as foreign as a muggle car that ran on gas.

He didn't Professor Kinsgley to think he wasn't doing his lesson, so he non-verbally changed his Slytherin scarf into a silver blanket. He misjudged the size and it came out the size of a bed sheet. "Drat," he mumbled. Now when she changed it back his scarf was going to be extra long. And for a short person everything was already too big.

He returned his attention back to the little Ravenclaw so see how she was faring.

Diggy smiled and clapped when she finally opened her eyes to see that she hadn't covered the world in a blue blanket. "See its not so hard," he told her. She reminded him of his little brothers and how their eyes would light up when Diggy did magic for them.

Louisa chuckled at the teacher's comment and beamed up when the nice boy clapped for her. I have to offer my sweets then, she made a mental note. Seeing the rather big blanket with the boy, she wondered whether it was supposed to be that big or Had the boy misjudged the size like she did. Nah. He was very good at magic. He does magic without talking for crying out loud!!

"Nice blanket." Yes, she was serious. His blanket was silver and really a blanket... it'd fit a troll though. "Er.. would you please make this tiny thing into my scarf again?" She asked with an intention of trying again but..

Professor Kingsley started talking about other spells. The little girl quickly grabbed her quill and started writing down those new spells they were supposed to practice later.

Hmm.. more ideas for staying warm. Other than clothes maybe? The idea struck her mind almost instantly. "Fire!" And before anyone would think she was on fire or something she added, "Can't we transform water into fire? Or wood into a fireplace? Or use our wands like a torch?"

Once the Professor indicated that they could turn their blankets back into their scarfs, Alice did so. She picked up her scarf, wrapping it around her neck, and headed back to her seat.

Alice picked up her pen and underneath where she had written the Vestis Vellus spell, she wrote down what the Professor had put on the board.

"Vestis Vellus."
"Reverto."
Dianna was getting the hang of this.
Raising her hand she said, "Is it learning how to turn something into an object that breathes fire?" she asked. Well it was worth a shot.

"Those are good ideas, and, because vestis vellus gives you, essentially, a rectangular piece of material, with some focus, you can use the same spell to create a warm cloak."

He paused, flicking his wand at the board, adding caput under vestis and the rest. "Caput combined with the others creates hats or other head coverings."

The wand movement for escarpa: You just draw a line in the air, top to bottom,
Manus: small circular flick.
Preston nodded. "That would also be good, though we won't touch on that today."

----

"Fire is essential to survival if you find yourself stranded in the wilderness or without other forms of power or warmth. Incendio which conjures fire is best sustained when it actually has something to burn. It needs fuel. Bluebell flames do not need fuel, but they also generate no heat."

Preston drew a line down the chalkboard with his wand, sectioning off the attire from a blank spot. Adding focalia with another flick, he turned to the class.

"Most of you are already familiar with incendio. It has been taught in previous terms, you sometimes use it in other classes, and so forth. Some of you don't, and so I'll work with you. But what we'll be doing first, is conjuring firewood, so that the fire has something to sustain it. After all, if you were stuck outdoors in a clearing with just snow, there would be nothing to burn."

Clearing his throat, Preston slashed his wand in an 'X' in the air. "Focalia."

Appearing on the floor of the classroom was a bundle of firewood, dry and perfect for burning.

"A simple incantation with a simple x wand movement. The trick is the concentration to make sure the wood is suitable for burning. Dry. Bundle up. We are headed outdoors to practice this spell because after you conjure, you'll be setting it on fire and the classroom simply isn't suited for that."

With that, Preston moved to the door, pulling out a box of conjured hats and gloves for those without their winter wear.

Kurumi finished writing down notes and then bundled up nice and warm with her coat and still transfigured blanket. I knew it...there is going to be some crazy maze...she said to herself as she followed the professor. Looked like her and Jenny were going to need to team up again!

Arya had been so distracted with poking her blanket, that she hadn't realized the class was moving on. Quickly she scribbled down the other incantations and wand movements for the other spells, ready to test them all out when class was over.

The young girl's curiosity piqued when he mentioned that they would be learning how to conjure firewood. And they would be going outside with the lesson. This was gonna be fuuun.

Already having her winter wear with her, she grabbed her things and skipped out the door. Putting on her outerwear as she left.

Oh yaaay, a sliver and green blanket appeared. This really wasnt to hard. Why did she have problems again?!
"Reverto!"
And there was her scarf again. Easy going. Fee smiled widely at her scarf and resisted the urge to clap her hands.

Feenella. Well, that was the first time he's heard that name. He felt like dealing with Tiberius.

The boy smiled and nodded, "Nice to meet you, Feenella" he said, trying not to focus on the Slytherin part, though, so far she didn't look like any of those mean Slytherin girls. All was good.

Fire? Treyen's eyes sort of sparkled. He liked fire, see?

The pretty flames running free towards the air, it was an amazing sight. The pretty flames. Haha. The little Huffie boy nodded all the way, but no, he didn't need the gloves, he learned from CoMC that his gloves were to be with him forever! Even on summer time. Dealing with Dugbogs was better done with gloves on, ask Fletcher.

He wrote down some notes, before moving along with...whatever he needed to move along...and followed Professor Kingsley. Transfiguration was fun, once you got over the fact that it may take a couple tries before succeeding.
