Default Transfiguration III and In-Class Final

Set-up as it has been the majority of the term, the desks are once again along perimeter of the room. A large section is, however, roped off, and houses numerous small trees in pots, as if that corner were a forest of sorts. In another section of the room, large piles of large leaves. about the size of a grown man's hand, as well as gnarled, knotty branches three to four feet long and thick as a baseball bat, lay piled up.

The board at the front of the room simply reads the following:

Quote:
Class Agenda:

New spells

In-Class Final exam

Please take one branch and one leaf from the pile back to your seat.
Professor Kingsley stands near the door to greet you, and direct you to take a seat.

ooc: There will be full participation points for class practice, etc as in a normal lesson AND additional final exam points once we move into that section.

We have moved on to the Final

Quote:
Preston wandered the room, nodding at the good work the students were doing.

"You may keep practicing, but we are moving into the portion of our class that will count toward your exam. You will need to leave your belongings, except you wand, at your seat."

Flicking his wand at the board, the instructions wrote themselves:

Using the spells we learned in class, protect yourself from the elements, create shelter, and generate heat. You may also use other spells you know, but remember that you are being graded on how well you demonstrate your ability to use the spells taught.
The following can be found through the room for your use:

A cluster of potted trees, sturdy enough not the bend if needed for support. You may break off twigs from their branches. Worms can also be found in their soil.

A pile of knotty, gnarled tree branches: wet

Scraps of fabric about the size of a scarf

Shoelaces

Vines
Another flick of his wand to activate charms that had been placed before class, Preston changed the room, significantly. The room has been charmed to resemble outdoors in early winter. The floor is muddy and some parts are covered with snow. The air is cold and moist, as if it might rain at any moment. For safety, the room has been charmed to prevent stray fire.

"You may continue your practice with temran madera and palus, at your discretion given the change in conditions, before moving onto the final. There will also be a written assignment to complete after you build your shelter that you may owl to me. Once you begin working on your shelter, please, no collaborating with others. When you have completed your final, you may leave."

ooc: Take your time moving onto the final, but please do not post practicing AND your final in the same post. You can finish your final in one post if you'd like, or you can use several. This thread (and the final) will close at 9pm EST on Sunday, November 21st (one week and one hour from right now). This portion is worth 25 points and the written (posted on the Transfiguration notice board) is worth another 15.

Eww!

Arya the Raccoon Girl. Destiny was tempted to wave her awesome and not much bigger board in the girl's face. But, they were in class and Professor Kingsley did just yell at Swishy haired Fletcher and Mia, so she decided it wasn't such a good idea. Instead, she sat back and just glaaaaared.

SCOFF! Arya had a bigger pole than her!

"Show off." she mumbled, before turning away from the girl. Destiny did not like show offs.

Leaning over to him, she gave a quiet and rather annoying 'psssst' in his direction to get his attention. "Hey, Rex! You look ready to take this final. But I have to ask you. Are you really ready?"

Snort.

Eeeep!

It was time to take the final? But..all that studying she did was for nothing! She forgot everything already! She was going to FAIL!

Well, there was no time to fail like in the present..or something like that. She didn't know that muggle saying. She didn't speak muggle after all. Standing from her seat, with only her wand in her hand, she gave one last glare at Arya before heading over to the potted trees.

Too bad they weren't fruit trees. Destiny was hungry.

Alice listened to Professor Kingsley as he discussed how the final was going to watch. With amazed eyes Alice observed as Professor Kingsley made the very indoor room look like the outdoors. She knew if she didn't start with the final now, she was probably just going to stress and do worse, so she decided to begin.

With a nervous glance at the potted trees, Alice began to approach them. She figured she would need to build polls using Palus, heat using incendio, the shoelaces to hold the poles together, and the bits of fabric to make a blanket for the top of the tent and for herself. Okay...this shouldn't be too bad!

SPOILER!!: Alice's final

Alice took a couple of branches off of the planted trees, grabbed a bundle of the fabric, and laid the materials down in her own little area. First thing first she needed to build a floor for her tent. Grabbing two of the branches she laid them down.

"Temran Madera," Alice said, moving her wand so that it branch became a rather long and wide board. She did the same thing to the other branch until it was the same side before lying them down side by side next to each other.

Alice grabbed the scraps on fabric and set them down on the wooden boards. She closed her eyes, visualizing the size she wanted the blanket to be. Once she was sure she had a good visual, she pointed her wand at the scarf.

"Vestis Vellus," Alice said, smiling as the fabric became the size she wanted it to. She picked up the blanket and spread it out along the pieces of wood. She had made it a little more squishy to make up for the wooden floor beneath it. She wasn't sure she loved the red color she had chosen, but that she figured the color wasn't that important.

She took the other piece of fabric and made something similar, only slightly smaller so that she could use it as more of a blanket for herself than something soft the lie on. She folded it and set it down on top of the other blanket.

Now to make the poles for the tent. Picking up three of the branches she casted, Palus on them, making them large enough and the same height so that she didn't have a lopsided tent. She grabbed the piece of shoelaces and pointed her wand at it.

"Cordage Creatus," Alice said, the shoelace becoming a tough rope. Using the rope she tied the three ends of the poles together, creating the base structure for her tent.

She spaced the bottoms out so that they were stable before taking the last piece of fabric and transforming it into a large blanket with a more weather proof texture than her blankets inside. The blanket also had a small little hole around the top where the poles met for smoke from the fire to go through. She threw the blanket over the tent structure and smiled to see that it was standing and stable when she applied some force to it.

The last step was to create a fire as well as some gloves and a hat for herself. Alice closed her eyes and visualized a nice, sturdy pile of wood. She opened her eyes and made an "x" motion in the air.

"Focalia!" Alice said, happy when the pile of wood appeared in front of her. She bent down and picked up the wood, moving it just inside of the tent.

"Incendio," Alice said, setting the wood on fire.

Alice took a seat in the tent and said, "Manus Vellus," and, "Escarpa Vellus," creating a nice little pair of gloves and a hat.

"Um Professor, would you mind looking at my tent? I think I am done with it."

Preston made his past the girl, on his way to his desk, pausing at her request.

"I can't give you any feedback on it, except to say that if you think you're done, you may leave." It wouldn't be fair to coach students who asked.

He did give it a once over, and nodded, before heading back to his desk.

Sitting in his chair, he watched the rest of the students work, grateful that he had charmed his area to be unaffected by the weather change in the room. Easier for him to focus on what they were doing.

Hehe. Having been too distracted snickering at Mia and Mr. Huffie over there, she was beginning to forget that she was in a classroom and supposed to be practicing a spell. Ack! PRACTICE!

It was only until the Professor Ruffles mentioned something about the final and with the sudden squishy noises under her feet did she realize that she had yet to make a pole. Eh. At least she wrote down the incantation and wand movement. Palus? And a flick of the wand. Got it! "Wingardium leviosa." She muttered, a swish and flick of her wand point at the branch on the ground near her feet. Mwa! "Fixate." Staring at the tree branch, smallish…tree branch… Evelyn began imagining it as a smooth pole. Which, proved to be more difficult than anything. Smooth POLE!

"Palus!" SMOOOOOOOOTH…ish. Well, it was a smooth poll! A short poll, but a smoooooth poll nonetheless. WOOOT! Did Destiny see that? Did Mr. Ruffles see that!?

HMM?

Hehe. What the heck? She was talking to Rex? Bahahaha! Grabbing onto her desk for balance before she fell into the mud, the few giggles that escaped her quieted and she fell silent once more. Oh, right. She was supposed to be nice to him. 'Friends' and all. Was it suddenly like, extremely cold in here or what? O__O! And there was snow!?

It was supposed to be SUMMER! DANGIT!

"Oh, of course Professor," said Alice, suddenly feeling rather embarrassed. Of course he couldn't comment one way or the other on her final! "I think I've done all I can do, so I'll be on my way. Thanks for the great lesson and final Professor Kingsley!" Alice said with a smile.

She returned to her desk and collected her things before heading out of the room. Well at least one final was out of the way!

Cass, who had been busy glaring the at the leaf that refused to turn into a plank of good, strong wood.

"This leaf's defected." She muttered to herself as she tried once more.

"Temran Madera" She said with a wave of her wand. The leaf twitched a little, and that was it. Cass resisted the strong urge to use incedio instead to burn the stupid leaf. She took a deep breath and put all of her concentration into casting the spell once more.

"Temran Madera" She repeated once more. Then to her utter delight, it had finally turned to a slab of wood. Albeit a flimsy one, but its still wood.

"My leaf is defected..." She cried out as she bowed her head in defeat.

That's when she noticed that the temperature in the room had dropped and there was a slight cold air that was circulating. She looked around and saw that the room had been transformed into some barren winter area for their finals. Cool. Literally.

But, she needed to perfect her spells first before she could even start on her finals.

Hogwarts RPG Name:
Kai Daniels
Fifth Year
Default

Nervous, Kai began work on his first ever Transfiguration final.
He glanced around the room and shivered, he could see a lot of snow clumped up on the floor, and objects for use scattered around to.

How would I survive? What would I need?
A teepee, covered in linen, blankets…clothes and a fire. That's it, that's all it takes.

He set out to start work on his teepee style tent.
walking over to the trees, he took a couple of their leaves and lay them down, one by one on the floor.

"Temraaan Maderra!" he called out, swishing his wand.
The leaf twisted itself into a small wooden block, a few centimetres in length.
"Ohh…" Kai though to himself, "Reverto!" he called.
The block unravelled itself back into its leafy figure.

Come on Kai. You can do this.
"Temran Madera!" he shouted, and at once the leaf changed. In its place was a Wooden board, roughly six feet in length and a couple of feet wide, this would do!
He moved onto the next leaf, again called out "Temran Madera" and he had a pair of boards to use.

Next, Kai positioned them side by side on the floor, the total height and with was about 6ft by 6ft now, and if he hammered them together then they'd be a solid base for his teepee.

Suddenly he realised there was no need for a teepee at all. Build a proper roof, make a small hut.
He stumbled over to the far corner of the room, and picked up a few branches before taking them back to his boards.
They were damp, they left little pockets of wet dew and ivy on his hands as he put them down, which he quickly wiped on his robes. Great, now they needed cleaning.

"Palus" he called, flicking his wrist with his wand, and almost chopping his head off. He had aimed at the branch, but the spell just seemed to knock the branch upwards and towards him.

Great, now there's killer branches out there to get me.

Once again Kai tried, setting the branch down and calling "Palus" and again it flung at his face.

UGH. WHY AM I DOING THIS STUPID EXAM ANYWAYS!?
All I want is a fricken pole. ONE STUPID POLE.

A few minutes late, calm and collective, Kai was ready to try again. With his wand arm held aloft, and the other ready to protect his face - He flicked his wrist, and again uttered "Palus!". The branch diminished, in its place was a pole, only 3 foot tall, but a pole nevertheless.

This will do, it only needs to be tall enough to lie in, that's all.
Successfully he managed to transfigure another three poles, roughly the same length as each other, and all sturdy enough to hold extra boards on top of their own.

Cus he'd changed his mind on what he was making, he now needed another two boards to go on top of his poles. He set off and acquired a couple more leaves, before returning to his little pile of equipment. Almost naturally, he said "Temran Madera" and the leaf transfigured into another board, albeit a little wonky compared to his immaculate floor-boards.

This has to be perfect. no half-heartedness, he said as he called out "Reverto" and the board once again was a leaf.
"Temran Madera!", the small leaf became a heavy, strong, durable board - much alike the two he made earlier.

One last time Kai, come on! He said, turning to the final leaf… "Temran Medera". Again, the leaf became a broad, durable board with the same rough dimensions as the other he had made - clearly practice really does make perfect.

He still had a few leaves over, and knowing that he badly needed something insulate to keep in the heat, he set out in turning them into good use.
"Vestis Letrom!" He called, and the leaf shook, twisting itself outwards into a thick, blanket of leather.

Kai smiled, this was perfect, and it was his first try. Maybe he could be a greater wizard than Ryan ever was.
"Vestis Letrom!" he ordered again, and once more he was left with his blanket of leather.

He had all the basic 'ingredients' to make his little hideaway, now he just needed to put them all together.
He needed nails, and that meant having to get some worms from the soil of the potted plants.

Ugh. More dirt. Great.

An idea struck Kai like a Puking Pastille struck an off-guard stomach, and he rushed over to the plant to pick off another leaf. With a small circular flick, he ordered "Manus" and the leaf was replaced with a small set of green gloves - an equal shade of green to that which the leaf was.
Kai put them on, and began burrowing in the soil for worms.

After a few minutes, he had a small…rather disturbing pile of worms beside him. He picked them all up, and took them back over to his little segment of the room, careful not to slip on any of the ice patches along the way.

When he reached his little embankment of soon-to-be-survival-gear, he sat down and drew out his wand once more.
one by one, he picked up a worm, called "Tacque", and placed the nail down in the pile.
As soon as he'd ran out of worms, he stood up and admired his work. Kai beamed - he was so happy, and almost done. This would be perfect!

He set out his two 'floor-boards' side by side on the ground. "Malleus" he called with his wand, picked up a nail, and began hammering the two boards together. After there were four or five nails connecting the two - he bent the point ends of the nails backwards, back into the boards - wouldn't want anyone getting hurt of course.

Next, he turned the boards onto their side, so he could access the side which would inevitably be hidden on the ground, he picked up one of his poles, positioned it on the other side, and began hammering a nail through the bottom side of the board, and up into the pole, transfixing the pole to it.
He did the same with the other three poles, then put the boards back down, hammered a couple of extra nails into the poles to make sure they couldn't come lose from the boards - and then admired his sort of…upside down table?

Kai was almost done, and he knew this - as anyone could tell from the broad grin on his face.
He hammered his other two boards together, just as he had done with the first two, and placed them on top of the four pole legs, turning his upside down table into a box with no walls.
Hammering the top boards to the poles, he made sure everything was sturdy and ready.

Now he had the structure, he just needed to make it secure and warm. He threw the giant leather blanket over the top of his 'box', and began nailing it down to the wooden frame - this would keep the cold out and the heat in, he thought with a smile.
When it was done, he took the second leather blanket and did the same on the inside of the frame, making sure to nail it all in tight so it couldn't fall and…suffocate him?

Kai's hideaway was finished. Now it just needed a few home comforts…

He pulled his final leaf from his pocket, swished his wand, and uttered "Vestis Cotone", and caught the cotton blanket as it swished innocently to the ground.
He lifted the flap entrance to his hideaway up, and carefully placed the cotton blanket down on the inside.

He was almost done. He spotted another students shelter, now vacant, with some worms wriggling around outside. Walking over to them, he stood above them and quickly called out on each one, "Escarpa", "Caput", "Manus", and picked up his new conveniences.

He arrived back at his shelter, and placed the hat, scarf and gloves down on top of his small shelter. It was only a few foot high, but was still over six foot long - long enough to lie down and sleep in, which is what was needed after all.

"Focalia" he called as he pointed to a spot nearby his shelter, and the branches appeared. Unlike the ones professor had provided, these were straight and crisp dry - perfect for burning.
"Incendo" he ordered, and the branches flung alight.

Kai stepped back and looked at his creation from a distance. He smiled, it would definitely keep someone alive in style, he would quite like to stay in it himself actually.
He turned and left the classroom

One final done. Only another ten to go.

Grabing a few leaves and branches off the trees, some scraps of fabric, shoelaces and viens and after diggind up some of the worms she chose a place to start building her shelter.

First she needed to make sure her hands didn’t get to cold and wet. Picking up some of the scraps of fabric. Using a circular flick “Manus vellus, Caput vellus” gloves and a cap appeared. She put them on. She was just a bit warm and decide that was good enough right now.

“Wingardium Leviousa’’ levitatating her supplies fixate they all froze in mid air. Easier to work with. Walking around the materials the first thing she needed to do was make some boards to put on the wet ground so that she could stay dry and warm. Movig towards the leaves “Temran madera” the leaves begin to form boards she layed them on the gound in the order she wanted to use them. Grabbing the worms “Tacque” the worms transformed into nails. Grabbing the boards and nailing them together.

Mallus” using her wand to nail the once worms into the board. It was turing out well. It was a raised surface and there was no way she could get wet from the ground but she wasn’t even finished she still had to make poles and a top and rope. Ahh she had so much to do.

Lets make some poles. Moving over to the levitated pile of materials she stood where the branches were. “Palus” the stickes begin to form polls, ones better than the ones that she had done in class. They were long and metal and was just what she wanted. Pushing the poles in various places in the wood causing a small hole just big enough for the pole to fit in.

Time to make a top ad things to secure the top to the ground and poles. Taking a piece of fabric, she needed it to riesist the weather obsticles so she cast impervius on the little fabric before castig vestis, a rather large water proof square fabric grew from the little piece. Drapping it over the poles. Grabbing the worms tacque and ths shoelaces and viens cordage creatus, She knocked the stacks into the ground and tied the rope to the tent and then to the stack. She did this to each side, making sure it was tight and couldn’t be blown away. Stepping inside her tent she layed a few pieces of fabric on the boards "Vestis vellus" the fabric transformed into a few nice warm blankets. Stepping out side the tent she took four poles and hammered them into the gound. Making another waterproof top out of fabric with a mesh hole in the middle for the smoke, she drapped it over the place where she would have a fire. After staking it down and tying it to the fabric she was ready to make firewood and fire. “Focalia” and “Incendio” the wood appeared and caught fire. She was done.

"Professsor, I am finished. Thank you for a very great class this year." She moved back to her sit and started packing up her books. "May I Leave?"

SCOFF! Arya had a bigger pole than her!

"Show off." she mumbled, before turning away from the girl. Destiny did not like show offs.

As she turned away from Raccoon Girl, Destiny's eyes fell on Rex. And boy did he look ready to take this final! She didn't even remember seeing him walk into the classroom, but now that he was there, he was SO ready!

"What?' Rex asked Destiny. ' You talking to me?" Rex asked Destiny. " I am sorry but I have the final to do' Rex explained to Destiny.
Rex will make sure that he is on his guard.

Rex saw that he was supposed to protect himself from the elements, create shelter, and generate heat. It was very cold here, with mud and snow on the floor. Rex decided he had better get to work on this right away, before it got colder and things got even muddier.

The first thing he needed to do was to build a shelter of some sort. He was going to need to make a covering for the ground. He took a tree branch and used the temran madera spell to make a nice long board, then did the same with each of the other branches. When he had finished, he had the boards on the ground, making a floor.

Rex then turned to the scraps of fabric, they should work for what he needed. "Vestis vellus", he said, flicking his wand over one of the scarves. It changed into a large wool blanket. That would work perfectly for what he needed. Rex took another scrap of fabric and used the Vestis vellus on it as well, then on two more fabric scraps. This should be enough to make a tent, he decided.

Rex turned to the cluster of potted trees. They would be sturdy enough to make support poles for the tent he was about to make. He took four of the trees and set one in each corner of the boards he had laid down earlier. He then took the shoelaces and used Cordage Creatus to form a rope. Then he anchored the trees with the rope, finally laying the blankets on top to form the tent and anchoring them down with the rest of the rope so they didn't fly off. His tent looked pretty good, that should serve the purpose.

It was still cold, so Rex did his best and imagined a pile of dry firewood. "Focalia," he said, pointing his wand at the vines. Those vines were not good for firewood but they could be changed into it with concentration. Rex smiled as the vines turned to wood. He carried them to a safe area just outside the opening of the tent where nothing could burn and carefully arranged them. "Incendio," he said, starting a nice controlled fire. He would watch the fire and make sure to put it out before he left the room.
Rex put out the fire. Rex asked the professor " I am done with the final, may I please leave?"

Amy was prepared as they moved on to the final. She crossed the room to the cluster of trees. Okay lets get started, she picked up a branch from the ground "Palus!" the branch was now a nice sturdy pole. "gemino!" she found a somewhat smaller stick "pallus!" "Gemino! Gemino!" now there were two long wooden poles and 4 short ones. she set them in an upright position for the tent structure and fastened them to the ground "fixate!" once they were up she picked up a piece of cloth that was lying on the ground she set it in front of the poles "Vestis vellus!" a large blue cloth was now spread out in front of her she draped it over all the poles so that they covered the top. Yay! now she had a shelter. Now she had to make it stay in place.
She dug around the dirt in one of the pots of trees and pulled out a worm, she continued till she had at least four or five worms. she set each one down "Tacque!" it turned into a nail, once she had transformed all the worms she went back to her tent and set them in position to hammer the cloth to the ground "Malleus!" she gently hammered all the nails into the ground like stakes, there the shelter was almost done. now for a fire
"Focalia!" A stack of firewood appeared at her feet as she cast the spell, she arranged them in a pile in front of her tent, "Incendio!" a warm fire appeared on the wood. aaaah heat Amy shivered she was still quite cold. she grabbed a few more scraps of cloth and took out her wand and pointed it at one of them "Manus Vellis" a pair of green mittens appeared in front of her , she slipped them on and picked up a new cloth "Escarpa vellus!" it extended into a long fluffy scarf. She wrapped it around her neck and looked at her tent, it was pretty nice but it needed something to cover the back. she picked a few leaves from the tree and pointed her wand at them "temran madera!" they turned into long wooden boards. she set them against the poles and went to the potted trees for more worms. "Tacque!" "Malleus!" she hammered all the nails into the boards to create walls for her tent. now it was ready. she laid a scrap of cloth in the middle of the tent "Vestis vellus" a nice purple cloth spread out on the ground like a carpet, now it was perfect. "Professor my shelter is done may I go now?"

Maybe it would seem ridiculous that she wanted to protect him or stay up for him but she didnt care.

Walking over to where the two was she smiled at her bestie.

"Everything fine here?"

"When you are done with your finals, you may go. No need to ask," Preston reminded everyone.

Spying a bit of conversation, he called out, "And no talking with others once they've started."

Thinking to him self first we need warmth"Focalia",a small bunddle of dry sticks formed a few feet away "Incendo" the small fire came to life.

Going to gather 3 scraps of cloth and, taking 20 or so leaves, 15 twigs,2 shoelaces and digging up as many worms as he can find ,he goes back to the warmth of the fire to start his task

Taking a twig, "Palus"At he sees it grow to around 15 feet in length he takes the pole and places on end of it on the ground 6 feet away from the fire Malleus"he watches the pole driven a good 8 inches in to the ground at an angle.Making more poles.Taking 2 shoe strings he ties them to the end pole placing a pole 6 feet away"Malleus" after placing the outher 12 poles in the same manner. He checks to see if it is roughly circle around the fire.

Laying a leaf on the ground "Temran Madera"watching it streatch and thicken to just under 3 feet long and a inch thick repeating this 20 times untill he had enough planks to do the floor and have a fire pit in the center

Looking up at the apex of the poles where the shoestring were dangling "Wingardium Leviousa" moving the shoe string so it moves over and under the poles. Then doing the outher shoe string in the same mannor until it is good and entwined"Cordage Creatus" as the shoe string turned to rope it pulls the poles closer together.

Taking the worms and setting them on the planks "Tacque"watching them turn into a good 2 inch nail repeating this untill he had 20 or so nails.

Taking the scraps of cloth out side of the TeePee frame "Vestis Letrom"with the q movment of the wand as a large irregular leather blanket formed. "Wingardium Leviousa"floating the blanket up and draping it over the frame he repeats this untill all of the frame is covered except for the top wich the smoke starts to flow out of,and a flap to enter from

Taking the nails he moves around to tack down the out side to the ground "Malleus" taking the last 2 nails he tacks the cloth th the top so it dosent slide down "Malleus".

Watching the smoke filter out the top of the Teepee he takes and few more scraps of cloth with the q movment of his wand "Vestis Vellus"having a good supply of wool blankets .Michael goes in to see into the TeePee to make it a more homey with the blankets, seeing that he will need more wood to last the night "Focalia" with that being done Michael packs his bag and heads for the door with a a nod to the professor "Sir" he heads out the door.

Stupid leaves….and mud…Kurumi was beginning to feel like she was in some sort of twilight zone trying to transfigure her leaves into planks of wood. After several failed attempts, and the remains of about a dozen crumbled plank looking leaves scattered about, Kurumi had managed to make one solid wooden plank. Phew. That meant that her use of Temran Madera was acceptabale. She had also struggled a bit with the worms…and the remains of a few of them were the evidence of that. After she had gotten over her fear of hurting the poor earth living things and thought of them more as nails than living, she had managed to transfigure some of them as well – although, one of her planks was still nailed down to one of the desks…she would have to bake the professor some cookies in apology for that later.

Kurumi took a deep breath and figured it was time to face the music. Trying to steady her hands, and her breathing for that matter, she made her way towards the supplies the professor had set out for them to use. Oooh…vines! Those seemed like fun and she could try to transfigure them into rope instead of using a snake…maybe even make a tire swing like her and Cam had done during their first Ancient Rune’s class. Then again, the professor probably wanted them to use snakes. Kurumi decided to use both and grabbed a few vines and a snake and threw them into a box. She also charmed a few of the potted plants using hovering charm to follow her as she examined the other items. Noticing the scraps of fabric, she threw about a dozen of those into her box and tried to keep her snake warm. What? It was cold in the classroom! After grabbing a few of the soggy branches, ew, she returned to her work station.

It was time to begin…once she stopped shaking that is.

Default eek! 'tis all too long!
Eagle Eye [⅓ Badger Trio] Felon & Kafka ♥ Gilderoy Lockhart <3 [TEAM 947!]

Oh, they were moving to the final! Finally! Because he'd been sliiiightly nervous about it, even if he wanted to believe he wasn't.

The boy started to notice some change in the room, everyone should be doing the same, no? Because it was getting colder and colder, and he was NOT dressed for cold, truthfully. Not only that, but there was snow in the classroom?! Man, Kingsley was simply the best!

Treyen had a smile on his face despite the coldness. And went straight to fetch for the things he'll be needing. Some shoelaces, some twigs, some pieces of fabric and anything else, plus his wand and a bunch of leaves. He thanked the tree for the supplies, by the way, because they had feelings too.

Okay. First things first. He couldn't work if he was still cold, that's why he decided to make something to keep him warm and allow him to work even better. Gloves. Because those were necessary in order to keep his wand from shaking. So, the boy took one of the pieces of fabric and, "Manus vellus" he said, after making that circular movement and pointing at the fabric. On its place there were two soft gloves ready to be worn. Treyen placed them on his hands and then thought about conjuring up a scarf, but decided to conjure a hat instead, "Caput vellus" he said, pointing at another piece of fabric. There! A hat was now on his head, and with these two things on him he could get to work on the shelter.

The boy scratched his chin as he pondered on what to do. Hmmm. Good. He got it. He'll need three poles, and a whole lot of wooden boards. Perfect! He took the little twigs first and his wand, "Tacque" he said, various times, as the little twigs were changing to nails. Sturdy nails too. And with his eyes opened! This was Transfiguration paradise. Anyway, he seemed to have enough nails, now he needed some ropes. Shoelaces were taken into his hand, and without further ado, "Cordage Creatus" he said, pointing at the things. Ropes were appearing right in front of him, even if he could've used the shoelaces as they were, he wanted to give that spell a try. Plus, ropes had more strength than shoelaces did.

Okay. Now, the poles. That was rather....er, easy, right? He'd just been practicing that spell. He took one of the branches and sighed. Confidence above all, no? "Palus!" his mind was totally imagining the length and appearance of the primary support element he'll need. And he did close his eyes for this one, it was more like an instinct. Opening his eyes he noticed the stick, the 10 feet pole he had no idea how to handle. He did the same for two branches that needed to be 6 feet tall. There was no way tall people were getting inside his shelter, see, it was no cabin, just a shelter, for Treyen.

Once that was done, he took the leaves in his hand and began transfiguring them into wooden boards, horizontal lines made with the wand and the occasional "Temran madera" was everything people could see and hear from the spot he'd chosen to work on. He'd rather have all the elements done before continuing.

And everything seemed in place, and with the appropriate strength and sturdiness. Especially those wooden boards.

Now. Time to get everything together. First, he started by joining the three poles (mind you that wasn't easy because he was small) but after a couple minutes he decided to fixate them three at a height he could work on and started to tie the ropes together. Muggle style was fun, wasn't it? Though, thinking about it...couldn't he just fixate the whole thing before they went back to their original from? Nah, that wouldn't be fun. The fun part resided on making the poles stick to the ground. It was done, though, and the primary structure was standing still. "Malleus!" he said to his pretty wand, and placed a couple nails on the union of the three poles, just in case. All you could hear now was...tick, tick, tick.

You were going to hear that for a longer time, because he was nailing shut two sides of the shelter with those wooden boards, and adding some floor as well (but that only required a couple nails from those 'walls'. Thank Gilderoy he was good at this hammering thing.

After a whole lot of time, a LOT, his shelter was sort of completed. Ropes tied the structure, and the 'walls' were nailed to the structure and the floor. Yes, the 'floor', because he was not sitting on the muddy ground. All that was missing was something warm and cozy and some fire. Fire! He liked fire. Eying the other piece of fabric he pointed his wand and made a curly-q movement and a flourish thing before saying "Vestis vellus!" and picturing a navy blanket. Then he made an X and said "Focalia" at which point two logs were in front of the shelter.

It was time to try if the thing worked, right? That's why Treyen stepped inside the little shelter and wrapped the blanket around him. Hmmm, warm. Then eyed the two logs and said "Incendio" because a fire was most needed, and then his gloved hands were placed on top of the fire, as if to warm them a bit more before simply staring at the flames.

Yeah, he'd sort of succeeded giving the fact that he was warm and away from the mud and snow. Awesome.

The boy stood inside the shelter for quite a while, he could've even been one of the last ones out, but he left the classroom, eventually.

Freya was still eying her work when Prof. Kingsley said that they could began their final after they finished with Temran Madera. Well, she already finished with both Temran Madera and Palus so it's time to take her Transfiguration final. She saw the instruction for their final on the board. It said that they had to protect themselves from the elements, create shelter, and generate heat. 'Heat? but it's not really that cold here' she thought. Then suddenly the room changed. It looked like outdoors in early winter. Even some parts of the class were snowing and she felt really cold. 'Ah. So that's why they had to conjure fire'

'Okie dokie here's goes my first final' she thought and walked slowly towards the ingredients. She thought for a moment what ingredients she wanted to use for her shelter. After finished grabbing the ingredients for her tent, Freya laid them in an area where she's planning to build her tent. First thing first. She desperately needed something to warm herself, she picked up two scarps of fabrics from her ingredients. She pulled out her wand, picturing a nice warm wool scarf on her mind before pointing it to the first fabric, she drew a line in the air, top to bottom as she said the incantation "Escarpa Vellus!" and the fabric turned into a very warm wool scarf. She put the scarf in her neck. Now for the gloves, she pointed her wand to the second fabric "Manus Vellus!" with a small circular flick then the fabric turned into wool gloves, she put the gloves on. Now after she's feeling a bit warm, she was ready to make a tent.

First, she needed a floor so she could sit down on her tent without worrying to get cold and wet. She grabbed a couple of leaves from the potted trees. She drew horizontal line with her wand and said the incantation "Temran Madera!" the first leaf was now successfully transfigured into a wooden board three feet long. That wasn't enough for the floor. Obviously! Duh! So she transfigured 3 more leaves into wooden boards. Now she needed nails to make them a solid floor. She picked up some worms from the soil on the potted trees. With a flick of her wand "Tacque!" the worm turned into a nail. She repeated these with the rest of the worms until she got enough amount of nails. After finished transfigured the worms into nails, "Malleus" Freya began hammering the nails into the 4 wooden boards with her wand so it'd made a solid floor. Now she was done with the floor.

Second, she needed poles for her tent. She grabbed tree branches from the potted tree. With a flick from her wand, she casted "Palus!" on them. The branches turned into smooth wooden poles with the same height. Okay now she already had the poles, the next thing she needed is ropes to tie them. She grabbed the shoelace and pointed her wand to it "Cordage Creatus!" accompanied by two loose circles with her wand. The shoelace turned into rope and she began to tie the three poles with it. After she made sure the rope was tight enough, she grabbed another scarp of fabric so she could made some sort of roof for her tent. "Vestis Cottone!" the fabric changed into a large blanket made of cotton. She threw the cotton blanket over her tent structure. Now that she was done with her tent, she needed something to warm her when she was sitting on the wooden boards with Vestis Vellus she transfigured another scarp of fabric into a large and very warm wool blanket.

The last but not least, she need fire. So she stepped out few steps from her tent, she made an X movement with her wand "Focalia!" then a couple of logs appeared in front of her. "Incendio!" she set the logs on fire. She put both her hand near the fire so she could felt the heat. Ahhhh..soooooo warm..!!She could simply sat there in front of the fire but then she remember she had another final to accomplished. She stood up and gather her things putting them back to her bag. "Thank you for the amazing lessons, Professor." she smiled and clinging her bag in her shoulder then walked out.

Kurumi spread her items out around her to get a better look at what she was working with. OK…just breath…this isn’t going to be that bad…just made a tent like you did in Ancient Runes only this time using Transfiguration spells…nothing to worry about…nothing to worry about… Kurumi repeated her pep talk over and over again in her heard not really sure if she believe any of it, but kept saying it anyway. Holding her wand in her still quivering hand, she looked around the room at the other students. Some were already finished while others were still in progress. While this was her first Transfiguration final and she didn’t know too much, she did know that she wasn’t going to get anyway just standing there holding her wand.

Time to get down and dirty. Well, she had the dirty part done already after her little slip in the mud previously. OK, it was time to come up with a game plan. She would transfigure the scarves into blankets and tie those to the trees using the vines and snakes after she had turned those into ropes. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do with the soggy leaves and twigs, but that would come after she had already got the base of her shelter done.

Kurumi then arranged her potted trees in a square formation only a few feet a part from one another – just big enough for her to lie down and be within the boundaries. OK, so step one was complete. Now, sleeping on this muddy floor was no deal, so she needed to make a base out of something…of course! The wet leaves and twigs! Skipping back over to the pile, she grabbed a single leaf to start with. No sense in there being a near disaster this early on into the final. OK, just remember concentration and visualization… Steadying her wand hand, she pointed it at the leaf. “ Temran Madera!” she said with as much conviction as she could. Slowly, but ever so surely, the leaf began to change and it turned into a nice study cherry brown plank of wood. YES! Kurumi said giving herself a mental pat on the back. She returned to her other leaves and after Temran Madera-ing all of them individually – she still couldn’t quite get the hang of transfiguring more than one leaf at a time just yet – she set all those to the side and turned her attention to the potted plants. Rather, the squirmy creatures that lived below the dirt.

You’ll be fine,” she said to reassure the worms as she pulled a few of them out of the dirt and lay them down on the floor. OK, concentrate Kurumi. No squished worms this time…only nails… With a wave of her wand, Kurumi said “Tacque!” and kept her eyes closed to keep the image of a nice sturdy silver nail in her head. When she opened her eyes, she practically started doing back flips when she saw that all her worms had turned into nails. Picking up each one, she hugged them as if they were teddy bears instead of cold metal. “Thank you!

OK…now for the part that she had been struggling with the most during the practical part of the lesson: using her wand as a hammer and not squishing the poor worms. Nope. That was so not going to happen this time around. After Fixate-ing one of her transfigured worms over two of her boards – the two she was going to nail together – she raised her wand high and said “Malleus!” as she came down with her wand. She heard a nice solid thud and looked down to see that there were no worm guts but a nicely nailed board. YES! she said after another mental pat on the back. She continued to Malleus her transfigured worms and leaves until she had finished making a nice wooden platform that she then pushed in the square area she had made with the potted plants. “There, now I won’t have to sleep on the mud,” she smiled. It would almost be like sleeping on a tatami floor. Ooooh…was there a spell to turn wood into tatami? Now that would be something very useful to know!

Step two now completed, now it was time to make the walls. While it technically would be best to use some more leaves and turn them into wooden planks to make walls, Kurumi decided to use the scarves into blankets method and then use them as a sort of teepee on top of her base instead. Kurumi grabbed one of her vines and took out her wand. After another swish and flick movement, she casted Palus and managed to turn it into a solid pole when she then casted Fixate on to keep it standing in the center of her wooden base. Next step was making some blankets!

Jenny and her had had plenty of practicing transfiguring scarves into blankets, so Kurumi figured this wouldn’t bee too difficult to do. “Vestis vellus!” she said as she envisioned a large soft and warm blanket that she could use to wrap around the top of the pole. “Cordage Creatus!" she said as she turned her snake friend into a rope and tied it around the massive blanket at the top of the pole. She then used the remaining nails and nailed the ends of the blanket down to various places around the wooden deck-base-thing she had made. She then transfigured a few more of the scarves into various types of blankets and set those inside her now completed shelter.

Hmmm….I wonder what else it needs…” she yawned as she lied down on the blankets and absentmindedly pulled another blanket over herself. Ah, it was so nice and warm under the blanket and inside her shelter. She closed her eyes, for just a second, but ended up dozing off. Clearly, she had been up too late studying for her finals. Hopefully Professor Kingsley wouldn’t mind. She had completed the assignment after all.

Super Slytherin Buddy | | ⅓ She-Snake Trio | | a normal girl with normal knees

Evelyn didn't like this final. Not because that it was Transfiguration, and it was really down near Astronomy on her skills list, but the fact that her shoes, socks, and skirt were getting muddy. Not to mention it felt as if it were winter time again. Winter time and she had this measly sweater. Awesome.

Sucking in a breath, the Slytherin stopped holding onto her desk with a death grip, and slowly made her way over to the scraps of fabric on the…other side of the room. This was an extremely long walk! There was no way she was going to slip in the mud and snow. Stupid, weather, spells. Pffft. Finally making it over though, moving a bit quicker as she got nearer considering there were desks nearby now that she could hang onto for dear life, Evelyn smiled as she bent down and grabbed one of the pieces of fabric. It was yellow, but she didn’t care! "Diffindo." She muttered, slicing the piece in half easily. Nuuuu! The other half landed in the mud! Ugghhhh. Scowling as she picked it up, she didn't even attempt to clean the thing, mostly because, she once again…could not remember the cleaning spells. At least the dark mud covered most of the ugly yellow color. "Manus Letrom." Creating a small circular flick of her wand, the pieces of yellow fabric twisted, weaved, and hardened into a pair of leather gloves, thankfully the right size for her hands. Maybe a bit larger, but really, that didn’t matter. She just wanted something on her hands that would keep them from freezing.

Sliding the gloves on her hands as she looked around at the materials they were able to use to make this shelter thing and she was SO ready to create the fire, the Slytherin sighed more from the annoyance of the task as she carefully made her way over to the potted trees. As she did so, she started to think up the outline of what she wanted her shelter to look like, counting how many nails she needed, blankets, boards, and anything else that she could possibly use for this. Moving to a corner a the room, so she had enough room to build this thing, the Slytherin levitated two potted plants one at a time towards her area. "Wingardium Leviosa." At least she knew she wouldn't fail at a simple swish and flick spell. It was too bad this wasn't a Charms final.

With the two trees situated where she wanted them to be, her eyes gazed around the room once more, taking in where the other materials were. Since she had already figured out and counted how much she needed, it was easy enough to get what she wanted. The hard part was...walking...which she decided to just scoot her feet on the ground to push the mud and snow out of the way instead. Ohhhh it was extremely cold and dirty, but the faster she got this done, the faster she could get out!

Holding everything she needed in her hands, save for the worms since those were in the potted plants, Evelyn finally made her way back over to her area and let all those leaves, shoelaces, and piece of fabric down onto the muddy ground. Mwaha! Shifting through the pile, sorting out each piece until she had three nice and organized piles, Evelyn stood up and placed her hands on her hips, nodding at her work so far. Good, now with all the materials assembled, she could start building this thing.

SPOILER!!: building the shelter
Looking at the items, she decided that she might as well start with the poles and boards first since they were the most difficult at the moment. She just learned the spells not ten minutes ago! While they weren’t perfected, they were good enough at the moment. Moving over to the potted trees, the Slytherin stared at the two of them before sighing. Eh, those weren’t what she needed. Frowning, her eyes trailed over her items as she placed her hands on her hips. Well! It seems she had forgotten something. Carefully maneuvering her way over to the pile of tree branches, Evelyn picked up the two biggest ones before moving back over to her area. There, now she could start creating the poles. "Wingardium Leviosa." She muttered with a swish and with a simple "Fixate" moments after, she paused for a moment before speaking again. "Palus." With a simple flick of her wand, she watched the tree branch straighten out and turn smooth. Or, mostly smooth. Huh.

Lowering the branch back to the ground, Evelyn repeated the exact procedure on the second gnarled tree branch as she did to the first, resulting in a practically smooth pole. Mwa! Regardless that it was a bit shorter than the first, she was just proud that she got it right. Did everyone see that!? No? Good, she didn’t want their spying eyes over in her area anyways. With the second pole being placed on the muddy floor next to the first, the Slytherin started towards her pile of leaves, making sure not to break any. Alright so, she needed eight boards for the bottom, and four boards the sides. Soooo many boooaards…

Bending down, she placed one of the fabric pieces she had acquired down on the ground in front of herself before placing her knees on it. She was at least going to try and get out of her somewhat clean. Taking one of the leaves, she placed that too down in front of herself before creating a horizontal line with her wand and saying, "Temran Madera." As the leaf shook and stretched, and changed color somewhat to what she had in mind, the fourth year girl was starting to actually enjoy this. Mostly because of the fact that her spells were not failing terribly like she had expected them to; and also it could be because of the fact that she totally forgot the professor was still in the room. The fewer eyes on her, the more confident she would be. Now to just do this… eleven more times.

And eleven times later, there were finally twelve boards sitting in front of her; some more normal looking than others. Alright, this so wasn’t fun anymore. It was annoying actually. But with the annoying task done, she could move on to the next task and be closer to finishing right? RIGHT! And that lucky next task was making nails, which meant she had to find worms. Ehhhh. Frowning, Evelyn turned her gaze over to potted tree closest to her, her almost black looking eyes staring at the dark soil in the pot. Well, she did have gloves on but…nah. Forget the worms. Looking up to the branches on the tree, she reached up her hand and picked off the smaller twigs to use for this oh so tedious task.

With enough in her hands, having had to move on to the second tree to find smaller twigs again, she put them on the fabric that she used for her knees before picking one up and moving it away from the others. Sooo….right. Nail! Turn into…a NAIL! "Tacque." With a flick of her wand, she resisted the urge to squeeze her eyes shut. Besides, she would be rather disappointed if she had! It…it was a nail! Her eyes stared at the little piece of success, just daring it to do something, whether it be to suddenly wilt or turn brown like the twig, but apparently it didn’t have any other plans. Creating twenty three more nails, some having which she had to quickly change the color of to a dark gray juuuust so it wouldn’t be so obvious that they were the color of the twigs they were, Evelyn breathed out a long breath when she finally finished.

With the nails done, she could FINALLY start building and then get out of here. Scooting a board closer to herself, and also grabbing one of the poles, she maneuvered the pole so it was laying sturdy in her lap and she could connect the board to it. First step to the amazing hut, house, shelter, thing! "Malleus." Holding up one of the nails, she hammered the thing into the board where the pole connected to it, using her wand. This was actually mighty useful now that she realized. So much better than using that muggle hammer. Hammering a second nail into the board as well next to the first, she tested the strength out before being satisfied about it. That pole is going nowhere. WOooot!

One pole down, one more to go. Pushing the connect board and pole to the side, she pulled another board and the second remaining pole closer and did the exact same steps. Hammering the nails into the board, connecting the pole, and voilà! Two poles down! Smiling, the Slytherin started to pull one board closer after the other, using a sticking charm to stick them together. No need in using nails when you have handy dandy magic with you. As she got her base of the floor finished, Evelyn scooted herself onto it so she didn't have to be in the mud anymore. Besides, it was easier to work like this. No slipping and sliding and utter annoyance of being muddy.

Picking up the pieces of fabric, she almost forgot the spell needed, or what she wanted in other words. Leather kept popping up in her mind, but she didn't want that! "Vestis cotone." she said with a rather curly-q wand movement. As the fabric stretched and weaved itself into a blanket, almost looking similar to what the leafs did while being transfigured into boards, her hands ran over the material to make sure it was somewhat decent. Yea, it was alright. A thick blanket was all she needed and it was certainly big enough. Four more! Just like this. With four more Vestis cotone's being said, and curly-q wand motions all over the place, she had three blankets, in her opinion, good enough for her shelter. Lucky them.

Grabbing another nail, the Slytherin raised an end of a blanket up to the top of the first pole before hammering the nail into the blanket, and into the pole. That...was rather difficult, but she finally got the nail to go through and stay where it should be. Stretching the blanket towards the back, she hammered to more nails into the base of her shelter so the blanket covered the back. And finally, with one more nail into the other pull, holding the other side of the blanket up, she had a backside of her shelter ready. Doing something similar with the two other blankets on the side of shelter, the third blanket she attacked to the poles, yet kept the bottom free and unattached. Which is where the vine came in! "Cordage creatus." A rather slight smirk appeared on her lips as the vine shimmered into a sturdy rope. No trouble with that spell. Tying off the blanket to a pole almost giving her shelter a 'theater' effect, the Slytherin crossed her arms and stared at her handiwork. There was a blanket left mostly for warmth purposes, and everything seemed to be just fine. Didn't look like the poles were going to topple over or nothing.

Which meant, the FUN PART! *flail* Turning around, a wide grin on her face, she made an 'X' in the air using her wand and said quite clearly, "Focalia." Teehee, LOOKIT! She was getting rather good at this firewood spell. Her wood pieces were twice as big and a didn't look like flimsy sticks anymore. Before the mud could make them too wet and unusable though, Evelyn quickly pointed her wand towards the pieces, obviously a bit over excited about the prospect of seeing FIRE! "Incendio!" LET THERE BE LIGHT!

As the light of the fire lit of her eyes, Evelyn stared at the burning flames as they steadily grew to a decent height for twiggy wood pieces giving it its fuel. Was she done? Mmhmm, she was, but she wanted to stare at the fire some more.

She did happen to glance back to her shelter like creation for a moment before turning back to the orange flames though. Good, nothing was close enough to catch fire. Mwaha! LOOKIT THE FLAMES! Teehee.

It didn't take long before she did get too cold and wanted out of the classroom. Not to mention she was muddy and needed a shower. A warm shower. Sounded rather nice at the moment. Must leeaaavvee!

Extracting his pocket watch, Professor Kingsley checked the time before flipping it closed.

"And that's time. Please gather your things and depart."

He waved his wand, returning the conditions of the classroom to normal, and set upon inspecting the shelters.

"Don't forget to owl the written part of your final," he said to those who remained. "Good day.

Written is due tomorrow - check the thread for the deadline.
