Louisa's eyes hung upon the old hat as it sang. Her mind was racing, A hat that could talk and sing? Of course she was not surprised because this is the wizarding world we're talking about, but seeing the actual event was overwhelming.

It was time for her, at last, to step up and put that thing on. Her legs were trembling slightly and a limp got stuck in her throat as she sat down with the hat on top of her head. One, two, three, four... was is supposed to take that long? eight.. nine..

"RAVENCLAW!"

Louisa jumped off the seat but quickly got up and grinned. Yay! The bookworms' house! This was heaven! She put the hat back and skipped over to the Ravenclaw Table happily.

Amy listened to the hat's song as it stopped she realized that it was her turn her legs felt like jelly she sat on the old stool as the hat was put on her head. her mind was racing "what if I don't like my house, what if no one likes me", she gulped,

SLYTHERIN!!!! it shouted loudly
there was a burst of applause from the snake table

"yay!" she thought to herself as she skipped to the slytherin table

"Weasley-Schleck, Lillian"

Lila listened to her name being called and nervously walked up to be sorted. She almost fell as she started to take a seat on the stool but caught herself in the nick of time. As the sorting hat was floating just above her head she started to hear its voice in her head.

What do we have here? Smart, compliant, hard working, detail oriented, loyal, shy

RavenclawLila said silently in her head.

But you could fit in perfectly with Hufflepuff and be great there

I want Ravenclaw Lila persisted in her mind.

Are you sure? Hufflepuff understands patient just loyalty the same as you

But I'm here most of all to learn so RavenclawLila insisted.

Well then I guess it's "Ravenclaw"

Lila got up smiling from ear to ear. She put the hat back down and started to walk over to the Ravenclaw table.

Jacqueline putted the sorting hat very carfuly. She was scared and her hands were shaking. ''You are very smart and intelligent.
Jacqueline closed her eyes. ''Well, you are also very,very brave and loyal. Very,very. Hmm.. You belong to ..GRYFFINDOR!!!!!! Jacqueline was so happy! She stopped sweating and all her fears are gone! She rushed to the Gryffindor table,proudly.

Lyra walked up to the stool calmly and almost cockily. She sat on the stool and flipped her long hair over her shoulder. When the hat was placed on her head she rolled her eyes as if she thought the entire process was unecessary. She already knew she would be placed in Slytherin, so why should she even have to put this dirty dingy hat on her head to tell her what she already knew?

The hat whispered in her ears, "Hmmm.... You're very brave.... and clever to boot.... You seem to think you know which table you're headed to, so off you go to...... SLYTHERIN!" The hat screamed out the house name and Lyra was off to her table, wanting to get out of the dirty hat as soon as possible. She took a seat at the table and watched the rest of the sorting.

james walked up slowly to the stall, there was complete silcence. James felt a shiver down his spine, he sat down on the stall and had the hat placed on his head hmmm the hat spoke where to put you where to put you I see you are hardworking and loyal that you are gentle and kind, I know
HUFFLEPUFF
James took off the hat with a smile on his face and ran over to the hufflepuff table.

"Gateskeeper, Bodicea!"

Gulping, Bodicea steeled herself for the next few moments in the public eye. She walked up to the stool, Lady GaGa's Poker Face running through her head. She sat slowly, and the hat was lowered onto her head. She looked out over the hundreds of heads before her, filling the Great Hall. They all waited expectantly for the Sorting to be done so they could eat and keep talking with their friends. Then the Sorting Hat's voice whispered through her mind.
"Not very confident in yourself are you?....."
"Quiet, you are.....very uncomfortable in the public eye...."
"Hard worker.....pays attention to detail.....Friendly..."

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Grinning now, Bodicea felt the Hat lifted off her head, and she ran to join her fellow classmates, cheering at one of the incredibly long tables.

Jade was lost in thought when she heard "Black Jade Emily". She walked slowly, the stool and hat coming closer to her more than ever. Her legs were trembling with fear. Jade sat down and she could feel the hat being put on her head. To her surprise she heard a voice. "I see you are very loyal and just.......hard working and helpful even in difficult times...."

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Jade sighed with relief and ran towards the Hufflepuff house table were she could see loads of people clapping and cheering.

Pamphylia was called next to go to sit on the stool, she was glad she had a last name that was in the beginning of the alphabet, because she just wanted to get it over with. But this was also a bad thing in her mind because she was always first for everything. She hesitently sat on the stool, and the hat was placed on her head. It didn't say much, just mumbled around, so she jumped when he screamed:

"RAVENCLAW!"

She was so excited she almost ran off with the hat. She quickly ran to the table where people were clapping for her.

"Lombardi, Sophia" was called. Sophia got up and walked nervously up to the chair. She sat down on the stool and the sorting hat was placed on her head. What do we have here? Brave, loyal, caring. the sorting hat said. Gryffindor. she thought. Gryffindor!! the hat shouted. Sophia got up and went to join her fellow Gryffindors.

Emerson, Maisie!" she heard her name being called,
'oh boy!' she thought, she knew she was gonna trip or something! oh well, it was just the school! how bad can it be? she asked herself 'really bad' she thought, so she made a little silent prayer to God that she wouldnt make a fool of herself, she walked up to the stool, put on the hat and gave a little smile to the other first years "hmmm..." said the hat, "tough decision...i see happiness, braveness, cleverness, and loyalty, but yet, your an heir!"
"SLYTHERIN!" the hat yelled
"YAY!" maisie yelled as all the slytherins clapped for her! "thank you for letting me borrow your hat!" she said to the proffessor. she litterally skipped all the way to the slytherin table where got hugs, handshakes, and friends for life!

"Broonhart, Elizabeth!"

Elizabeth almost didn't hear her name. It is very hard to hear your name being called when you are having a silent panic attack.
'What if it tells me I don't belong? Or I go to a bad house? And everybody hates me? And I want to go home? Or I... FAIL MY CLASSES.' That was when her nervous heart skipped a thousand beats. Deep inside her, she knew none of these will happen. But Elizabeth possesses the gift of being able to stress herself out to the extreme.
Taking a deep breath, she walked herself over to the stool and the hat. She had no idea what to expect. Did it hurt?
But when the hat landed on her head, she felt no pain.

"Hmmm. clever, which points to Ravenclaw, yet a good friend, which points to Huffepuff. Hard working, a quick mind."

"Please don't give me anything bad." thought Elizabeth as she closed her eyes.

"Don't worry," the hat replied, scaring Elizabeth, "I think it'll be
RAVENCLAW!
She could feel bubbles exploding inside her. She belonged to a house! A family! Hogwarts!

As Elizabeth almost sprinted to her table, she could only think of what could go right.

Luna really was going to freak out. Hogwarts! And she was going to found out what house she was going to be in!

"Weasley, Luna!"

FINALLY! Luna imagined what she must look like bounding to the hat, but she didn't care.
She felt like screaming as the hat went on her head. She expected Gryffindor, of course, because it had been in the Weasley family for quite some time, but she was still excited.

"A Weasley? Ah, I recognize the type. Brave, strong heart..."

GRYFFINDOR!

Wahoo! A Gryffindor!
'Mum and Dad will be so proud!' she thought as she ran to her table to greet her new house.

Alina timidly walked up to the stool and put on the hat. There was only one house she'd ever thought of being in. "Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw" repeated as she sat there for what seemed like forever. Finally the hat yelled out, "Ravenclaw!"
Phew! What a relief. A big smile stretched out across Alina's face. She knew she was where she belonged.

Cloe heard her name called and she wass not sure what to think. There she was amongst so many younger then her who were to be sorted as well that day. It felt rather strange. She wondered if it may be tougher to make freinds coming into the game so late. She also wondered what this sorting thing was all about. She had read about it in her letter but still something about it did not sit right with her. None the less it was now her turn to go up and put on the hat. Thus she took a breath and walked up to the front of the room and took a seat on the stool. The hat was placed upon her head and she heard it start to to talk: "Ah, a late comer I see. You've been through a lot, but you are quite level headed, you are quite the resiliant one. Theres only one house that you can belong. It better be, Gryfindor

As Cloe heard the House she had been chosen for she felt rather happy about. She had heard nothing but good things about Gryffindor so if she had to be in a house this was the best scenario to her. And thus she ran over to her house table eager to meet all her new housemates and make the best of going to this brand new school.

Faelwen heard her name called and confidently walked up to the sorting hat, whilst attempting to keep her calm. She probably wouldn't admit it to anyone else but she was truly nervous... not to mention exited.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Sighing in relief she stood, a large grin breaking across her face before she walked to the table of the house. At least she got what she wanted!

"Sato-Rhodes, Cass!"

Taking a breath and stepping up to the stool and sorting hat, then sits down as the hat is placed on his head, and being to big for him falls down and covers his eyes for the most part.

The quietly, as if in his ear, a voice speaks: "Hmmmm, a strong heart and spirit, but shy and studious, hardworking, and loyal... and willing to go around the rules when the need arises... now where shall you go..."

Cass begins unconsciously thinking about his family and their desire to help and when needed protect others, a tradition that both sides of his family has held for centuries, both the muggle side and wizzarding side, not sure why these thoughts and images come to his mind, nor where his strong desire to follow this tradition.

"Ah, very interesting, well I guess the best place you you is in ... GRYFFINDOR!"

Cass smiles happily, silently thanking the sorting hat, as he removes the hat getting up and places it back on the stool before joining the Gryffindor table...

"Davis, Brooke!"

Brooke nervously made her way up to the front. She took a deep breath as she sat on the stool and the large Sorting Hat was placed on her head.

"A davis? Beloved at the least, with a strong heart, loyal and brave, but also hardworking.. I know the place for you.."

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Brooke beamed happily and ran off towards the Gryffindor table. She'd finally made it.

"Hathaway, Alex!"

Just being around a small group of people made Alex edgy and nervous standing infront of the entire school was just about enough to kill him. Luckily he had the chance to watch several of his fellow first years go through the sorting so he decided to just follow their lead.
Placing the hat on his head Alex heard a voice "Your past is clouded with strife and fear, yet bravery and loyalty to those you hold dear. There is no question in my mind..."

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Alex placed the hat back on the stool and walked over to the Gryffindor table. They seemed very welcoming and for once he felt like getting to know a few people.

Amelie smiled as she heard her named called. She stepped up to the Dais and sat down on the stool, smiling as the hat settled on her head.

"Hmm... Not so happy with family life... but still keeping yourself well put together... Perhaps you're more courageous than your family would like to think. But you're certainly willing to do what it takes to be the best. I know where to place you...

SLYTHERIN!

Amelie smiled as she nodded, standing up and placing the hat back on the stool. She knew that would be the place she belonged. She went over to the Slytherin table and smiled, sitting down.
