Walking back, she held the book out to the Hufflepuff. "I don't hace books specially about Mr. Potter, but I have Hogwarts: A History and maybe that will help you. Mr. Potter and the school itself share some history." |

She then noticed other students lining up. "I should probably let you get back to work." she said. "Au revoir." she said. "I will bring the book back when I finish it." Monique then turned an left the office. |

"And au revoir mademoiselle Bernard, do enjoy the book and I'll see you in class," she replied as she looked back to the door and then the texts before her. |

Walking back over, she set the book by Lévi before the young snake. "This isn't on the reading list, but you might find it interesting how non-magical people see magic and its history," she smiled. |

Rae heard the professor call her in, bet she didn't know it was Rae. She could just imagine Professor Welton locking the doors or something. Hehe, nonetheless she needed to smooth things over with this professor. Just in case. Walking in, Rae looked around at the office surroundings. WOAH... Cool! "Hello Professor." She said in her usual calm, relaxed tone. It really was usual, just not when her thoughts consumed. |
Quote:
"Was there something I could help you with?" she asked next. Not many students ventured to her office for social visits. |
Rae was surprised to hear her say 'nice to see you.' unless she was just being teacher-like. "Erm, yes, I came to apologize for what happened on the stairs........ And thank you for not getting the champions... and the rest of us, in trouble." Rae wouldn't have minded detention. Almost hoping for it actually. However she would've died if she alone got 3 champions removed from the tournament. |
Sensing something a bit off with everything, Sylvie sat up a little and tilted her head as she listened to Rae. "Oh yes, the whole stair incident," she nodded. Of course, that was why she was there. "Students will be students. I was rather disappointed in your behaviour, but you are welcome. I don't want to have to scold anyone but that whole incident was not safe at all." Well, maybe it could have been safe if it was sanctioned by the staff and all. She did recall hearing about how the Ravenclaws did have mattress surfing the previous term, but that really neither here or there. "I was young once, not all that long ago either and I know you were just having fun and all, but I had to stop it before anything bad could happen. It was for purely safety reasons and not because I wanted to spoil the fun." Actually, they had tempted her a bit with the offer to join in but she knew Tate would not be pleased with that at all and she did love being back at Hogwarts. "If I would have given out detentions, those young men would have automatically been disqualified from the tournament and I would not do that to them." No, that would be rather cruel of her and she was not that kind of person, well at least she wasn't any more. "We shall chalk it up to a lapse in judgement on all your parts and move on, right? We all have those and we learn from them." She was guilty of such lapses as well and here she was now. |
Huzzahhh! She was cool about it! Of course she had to be teacher-like too, but cool about it nonetheless. Rae smiled sweetly on the outside, on the inside it was a mischievous smile. Now that things were smoothed over with her, Rae can get back to planning, and then she wont have any eyes on her in case she happened to break more rules.. Rae also thought of another thing, just in case this conversation didn't work and Professor Welton was still watching her. She will give her a reason to look... But only in the right places. "Yes, I see now how irresponsible it was, indoors and all... However, you seemed pretty tempted by our offer, next time there's a party... Outside of course, I'll be sure to invite you.... I'm starting to think of some outside ideas, safer ones that is." And of course there will be some new plans being fulfilled outside.... Those just aren't the main ones.. |
Sylvie shook her head slightly and put on a smile, in her head it was more of a smirk though. She took note of the smile on the young Slytherin and knew it well. Most snakes did think the same and she had once used that same smile in her youth. She would still keep her eyes open, but these young snakes did remind her of herself once. They were all cunning and she had to give them credit still. Clever little young ones they were. "Well as long as you are aware and will actively attempt to not have anymore such lapses, I really can't ask for more." Actually, she could ask for more but she wasn't a Head of House or anything. She did want her former house to strive and be honorable, but she could only ask so much as a professor. "If all safety precautions are taken, I would be honored to partake in some surfing. But I would think you would still have to run it by Professor Lafay. She is after all your Head and we wouldn't want any dishonor to come to the House of Slytherin." Of course, their offer to join was rather tempting, but she knew better than to act on such temptations. No, indulging in temptation was not meant for this time and place. |
Oh, oh MERLIN! Rae was beginning to like this teacher, very much so in fact. Not only was she willing to come and participate... She was throwing out ideas!!! Surfing? It had not been thought of yet, nonetheless it can still happen... Until... "ASK PROFESSOR LAFAY?" Er.. Did she say that on purpose? "Can... We be completely honest here?" Rae didn't wait for a reply, she was going to be honest anyways. "I can't so much ask Professor Lafay to catch a butterfly without being set on fire.. Or worse.. Attacked with glitter...... or killed." Dying and being glitterfied were basically on the same level. Because if she was glitterfied, she might as well die. Unless.... "However if YOU asked her professor... I'm sure she would be much more eager to hear from her coworkers..... And not kill them..." That was logic right? |
Taking in the reaction from her mention of the Slytherin Head, Sylvie shook her head and offered a smiled. "I'm sure you are kidding, Professor Lafay shouldn't be all that hard to approach. She is the head and isn't it her duty to help you," she asked. Head were there for their house, right? "I'm sure if you made an appointment with her and sat down, she would be willing to listen. Perhaps a structured meeting of sorts." Of course, Sylvie hadn't really had much contact with the Slytherin Head, but she had heard things. Never one to completely listen to rumours, she decided to wait on placing judgement. "I really don't think that it would be appropriate for me to ask her. I am no longer an active part of that house and I wouldn't want to overstep any boundaries." It would be rather rude of her to overstep any boundaries as her tenure was so new. Very unwise to possible anger any of her colleagues as well, she did after all enjoy her position at the school. "Perhaps, you would ask with a group of peers. Safety in numbers?" If this rumour of being sit ablaze was true, Lafay wouldn't seriously set a whole group ablaze over a few questions, would she? |
Rae gave her a really nervous look. She really didn't understand did she.... "Have you... Met her professor?" Because yes, she totally would do something above and beyond crazy for a few little questions.. "Safety in numbers.... She will think were ganging up on her... She might turn us to mice!" Or rats. Rats sounded more disgusting, so it would probably be rats. "Just because she is Head of House... Doesn't mean that she really cares...... I'm positive that she could care less to help me..." Dead serious... |
Sylvie had to frown. She really didn't believe that Tate would have a Head of House that didn't care for the students. "Yes, in passing. I haven't yet to personally speak with Professor Lafay, but she can not be as terrible as you make her out to be," she replied. Rumours were one thing, but she hadn't really seen Lafay interact with the students. "You make her out to sound like she is thinks you are all after her or something. I highly doubt she is that paranoid over a few of her students asking at few questions." Professors were supposed to be questioned, weren't they? "I would at least make an attempt to ask her before anything is done. If I am to talk to her, she will surely question why I am there and why I was asked before her. I am just a professor after all, a former Slytherin, but she might be offended to find out that wasn't consulted." Surely, the students didn't want to possible offend Lafay if they were so terrified of her. |

Standing there awkwardly, he gave a little smile. "Hello, Professor Welton," he said, looking at the chairs. Was he allowed to sit? He wasn't sure, so he stayed standing. "I hope you have some time to... well, I'm a little troubled and Icouldn'tthinkofanyoneelsetogo," he said in just a breath. Could she understand that fast Scouse accent? |
Quote:
Blinking slightly, she attempted to take in what he was saying. Shaking her head, she let out a small laugh. "Troubled you say. Well I hope I can help, even if I maybe be a last resort," she nodded. One would find it a bit offensive to be a last resort, but she didn't really mind. "I will at least try to help. Now what are you troubled over?" What could the young snake be troubled over? He appeared to be a clever chap and it wasn't like he was there for help with history or something. |
Quote:
Nodding when she said what she got out of his rambling, he looked over the comfy sofas again, and decided at last to sit. Then, playing with his hands for a few seconds as he tried to find the right introduction, he said "I'm troubled over my... relationship with my ex and current girlfriend." Now, to watch for her reaction to see if she thought he was too young to have a relationship with someone... |
Quote:
Leaning back against her desk, she nodded and smiled. "Okay, so there is an issue between an ex and a current girlfriend? Are they fighting or something?" Ex's and current girlfriends could be problematic, she would need to know more about it before she could really give her advice. |
Quote:
"No, the issue isn't between them, actually," he said slowly. Ugh... of course, normal people who didn't cheat on people would think so. Taking a breath, he continued. "The issue is me." Staring around the room, he said "My girlfriend's gone to Beauxbatons, I missed her and I may have got too close with my ex, who also has broken up with her boyfriend." Too much of a drama? He thought so. |
Quote:
Hearing this, she blinked once and tilted her head as she tried to process what she was hearing. "Okay, so you and your ex are getting closer, but you feel that's a bad thing because?" She was a pit confused. "What to you define as too close? Being able to be friends with ex is rather a commendable thing in my mind." Again, she really wasn't sure what she was to tell him. "Do you think your girlfriend would be upset with you two being closer?" |
