The Office of Professor Sylvie-Renée Welton As you first enter Professor Welton’s office, you will notice it is rather different than it was once before. The office has once again gotten a makeover courtesy of the newest History of Magic professor. The once blue walls have now been replaced with dark mahogany panelling and the floor with a slightly lighter variation of flooring. An antique French Aubusson rug is centred on the floor and a top it a pair of comfy armchairs, very similar to the Victorian chaise outside the office. OCC: Please remember that you need to be invited in before you may post here. |
Sylvie stood before one of the bookshelves and allowed her eyes to span the titles. Every title held something of importance and she just needed to find the right one for what she needed at the moment. Reaching for one, she heard the soft song-like ring and smiled. It appeared that she had company. Reaching for her wand, she pulled it from its new holster and gave it a flick in the direction of the door, as she called out. "Please come in." Her first visitors, how exciting! Smiling to herself, she levitated the large book down to her desk and then followed down the spiral stair case. Setting it atop her desk, she stood before her chair and looked toward her new visitors. |

Following the younger girl in, after giving her a nice little smile outside in the corridor, Lori entered the office and gave the same smile she had to the younger girl, to the Professor. "The office looks lovely Professor. The rug, that's beautiful. I er.. brought you a little present, just to say welcome to the school I suppose. It's just some cookies, chocolate and a few other tidbits." On mention of the present, from the basket she pulled out the nice little treat box, that had a nice little badger painted onto the top of it. You could say that it had been charmed on, but it hadn't, she'd painted it herself. "Forgive me, Professor. I'm Lorelai Bristol, Hufflepuff Prefect." |

Looking around, she again smiled. "Thank you, I was just trying to back it feel a bit more at home for me and thank you again for the gift. I do have a slight sweet tooth and I'm sure these will come in handing." Yes, those little treats would find a home in her desk for sure. She would have to keep them away from her little pets, but that wouldn't be too much of a task. Taking notice to the little badger a top the box, she smiled. "That is some beautiful work." |

"Professor Lainey is an amazing professor and I do hope to make her proud, but I have a feeling all will be fine. But thank you." Her nerves weren't all that terrible at the moment and she was looking forward to a pleasant term ahead. "I will be sure to remember that Miss O'Rielly and I'm looking forward to hearing your contribution to our class discussions." Lots of discussions, yes that's what she wanted for her lessons. Discussions and fun. |

"You've been to France? Isn't it lovely?" she asked. "I live in Paris. Except when I am at school, of course." she said. She looked back at the chaise. "It is very lovely. I would not have been able to leave it behind either." She neared the bookshelf. It was full of books. Perfect. "Thank you. I'm particularly interested in the history of Hogwarts. Recent history as well, if you happen to have anything like that." she said turning back to the Professor. She wondered if it would be too much to ask for anything that mentioned the TriWizard Tournament. |

Standing up, she followed her student to the door. "Yes, I shall see you soon in class. Looking forward to hear what you think in class discussion." she smiled as she stopped at the door. Quote:
"I actually lived in Paris for some time before coming to Hogwarts." she replied and glanced back tot he chaise just outside her door. "I actually bought back as much as I could from France here to Hogwarts. I do think, I did a good job if I say so myself." It would be her home away from home for a while, so she did her best to make it her own. Sitting down in her chair, she looked over to the young witch and nodded. "I would suggest Hogwarts: A History then. I have a number of editions, if you are interested in a certain one." Each volume was basically the same but small additions were added to each. "Was there anything you were looking for in particular?" |

"Oh, how exciting. What did you do there? If you don't mind me asking." She then looked around. "I'd have to agree. It is like a little piece of home." she said. She could get used to a place like this. Why wasn't her room as lovely? "The most recent one would be best." she said. "I hear there is quite a fascinating history behind this school. I want to learn all that I can while being able to explore it up close." |

Glancing at the map just behind her, she smiled brightly. "I worked in the Ministry for a time, then at the Louvre." she explained. She did have a marvellous time whilst in Paris, but being back to England and then back here at Hogwarts was what she needed. "It reminds me of my time in Paris, but it's very British as well. A mixture of both really, my past, present and future all together." It was rather fitting after all. Getting up from her desk, she walked over to the spiral stairs and made her way up and toward on of the high bookcases. Pulling down the right edition, she returned down the stairs and walked over to Monique. "This is the most recent copy I have, the newest is to be sent to me for Flourish and Blotts soon. So I hope this one will help you," she smiled as she handed over the large book. "It is an interesting read. I used to read it over the summer before my return to school each year." |

"How fascinating." she said. "I do not think enough of the magical population enjoys good art." she said. She, herself, loved anything classy. It didn't matter to her whether it was magical or not. "How very wise." she said commenting on the Professor's design choices. "It suits you well." "Thank you so much Professor." she said accepting the book. "I will take good care of it and bring it back soon." |
Quote:
"Art is something that should be enjoyed by all, really." she sighed. "It really should be appreciated, all forms of it, muggle and magical. You know that was the fun part about working at the Louvre. I got to see all kinds of art." It actually never did feel like work there. Again, she looked around her office. "Thank you, I'm glad you think so." With all the time she would be in there, she did hope it suited her. She did want to look like she did belong there. "Well, as an educator, I'm here to help in anyway. You are very welcome. Feel free to come and borrow more books if you want as well," she added as she returned to her desk. "There are more than enough books to go around ready." |
Quote:
She smiled. "I bet that was a lot of fun." she said. She enjoyed visiting, so she could only imagine how it was to be there all the time. She balanced the book on her hip. "I'm so glad that I've met someone with the same opinions. Even back at France not everyone understood art." "Well thank you very much. I will be happy to take you up on that offer." she said. |
Quote:
She wasn't surprised at all. Not many people really appreciated the simple beauty of art. "Well, i got all the good taste in my family," she joked. "My brother always thought it was a bit boring being surrounded by paintings and all, but there is a simple beauty about it. Even the portraits here have an underlying beauty to them." "Your very welcome and I do hope you visit one of my lessons as well. It might be educational to see how lessons are taught here." she replied. "I'd actually enjoy hearing what you and the other visiting students have to say about history." |
Quote:
She nodded as the Professor spoke about art. She completely agreed with everything she had to say. It was a good view for a Professor to have. Monique hoped she would be able to influence her students in that way. "I would enjoy that very much." she said. "I am actually planning on attending a few classes. I will be sure to make your class one of them." |
Quote:
"I do look forward to seeing the visiting students in lessons this term. I do hope you are all settling in well." she added. "I remember how strange it is to be in a new place after being at one place for most their life. A bit shocking to the system sometime." Yet a change in scenery was always a good things as well. |
