| | The Office of Professor Sylvie-Renée Welton As you first enter Professor Welton’s office, you will notice it is rather different than it was once before. The office has once again gotten a makeover courtesy of the newest History of Magic professor. The once blue walls have now been replaced with dark mahogany panelling and the floor with a slightly lighter variation of flooring. An antique French Aubusson rug is centred on the floor and a top it a pair of comfy armchairs, very similar to the Victorian chaise outside the office.
A set of bookshelves, full of random history tomes and books, are noticeable in one corner of the room, near a fireplace. There is also a small spiral staircase beside the fireplace, which leads up to yet more bookshelves. If any student was in need of anything related to history, muggle or wizard, one of these bookshelves would possible have it or would at least guide them in the right direction.
Located just opposite the fireplace and angled ever so slightly is a rather large desk. It almost over powers the professor, but atop it is neatly placed stacks of books and parchment. A tiny nameplate is situated in the middle of the desk and a single empty picture frame just to the right. A lone high-backed chair sits in front of the desk and behind the desk is a map of the world. OCC: Please remember that you need to be invited in before you may post here. |

| Atypical Ravenclaw Bookworm // Hair Flipper Pro / / the edgy starbuckian // Hot Messie Sylvie stood before one of the bookshelves and allowed her eyes to span the titles. Every title held something of importance and she just needed to find the right one for what she needed at the moment. Reaching for one, she heard the soft song-like ring and smiled. It appeared that she had company.
Reaching for her wand, she pulled it from its new holster and gave it a flick in the direction of the door, as she called out. "Please come in." Her first visitors, how exciting!
Smiling to herself, she levitated the large book down to her desk and then followed down the spiral stair case. Setting it atop her desk, she stood before her chair and looked toward her new visitors. |

I'm Rubiey O'Rielly, Gryffindor First Year. I just wanted to come and introduce myself, before taking your class." She smiled slightly.

I have heard such great things about yourself and your fellow Prefects. I did always want to be one once, I mean whilst I was a student here so many years ago," she laughed softly. It was an honour and she did hold those with such an honour in high regard.
Looking around, she again smiled. "Thank you, I was just trying to back it feel a bit more at home for me and thank you again for the gift. I do have a slight sweet tooth and I'm sure these will come in handing." Yes, those little treats would find a home in her desk for sure. She would have to keep them away from her little pets, but that wouldn't be too much of a task.
Taking notice to the little badger a top the box, she smiled. "That is some beautiful work."

Yes, she knew what she would be teaching the minds of the youth, but she did want to keep them all on their toes as to what would be thrown at them first. Yup, not being spoken to at your own home gave you plenty of time to read. "I do love history though. It was my avourite lesson in Muggle Boarding School. But I'm sure Magical History will be even better." She smiled again. "I'm sure you'll be fine, Professor. If you ever need a volunteer during lesson, I'm always available." She smiled at her eagerness.

"Well, it is a good thing to like history. If you are aware of the past, you are less likely to repeat it." To know ones history is to know ones present and future. "Muggle history and Magical history aren't at all too different. You'd be surprised to see the direct correlations one could find." Looking at histories side-by-side, little elements could be found. "Professor Lainey is an amazing professor and I do hope to make her proud, but I have a feeling all will be fine. But thank you." Her nerves weren't all that terrible at the moment and she was looking forward to a pleasant term ahead. "I will be sure to remember that Miss O'Rielly and I'm looking forward to hearing your contribution to our class discussions." Lots of discussions, yes that's what she wanted for her lessons. Discussions and fun. |

I think its the best way of expressing your views in a controlled way. I was part of the debate team at Muggle School." She smiled slightly, then the clock caught her eye. Wow, she hadn't realised it had gotten so late. She stood up. "Well, I better be going, Professor. Thank you for your time, and the talk. I'll see you soon." She smiled, waved slightly, and then turned to leave.

Hearing the the young Beauxbaton complement her chaise, she grinned. "It is rather lovely, isn't it? I acquired it whilst I was in France. I really couldn't bare to part with it." she added with a nod and a slight petting of the chaise. It looked nearly perfect and she did hope that none of the students would damage it in anyway, or she would be rather put out over it. "I see, only room to pack the essentials. I understand that completely," she laughed as she returned to her door again. "Well, I do have an extensive collection of books in my office. You borrow some if you wish." she offered as she motioned to her office. "Oh, did you attend here?" Monique asked. "It's much different than the school I am used to." she said entering the office. "You've been to France? Isn't it lovely?" she asked. "I live in Paris. Except when I am at school, of course." she said. She looked back at the chaise. "It is very lovely. I would not have been able to leave it behind either."
She neared the bookshelf. It was full of books. Perfect. "Thank you. I'm particularly interested in the history of Hogwarts. Recent history as well, if you happen to have anything like that." she said turning back to the Professor. She wondered if it would be too much to ask for anything that mentioned the TriWizard Tournament.

Perhaps there would be more students like Miss O'Rielly in her lessons. "Debate team at such a young age, that is extraordinary." Well, weren't students so accomplished now a days. She thought growing up she was rather advanced but clearing the children now were so much more advanced.
Standing up, she followed her student to the door. "Yes, I shall see you soon in class. Looking forward to hear what you think in class discussion." she smiled as she stopped at the door. Quote:

She wondered if it would be too much to ask for anything that mentioned the TriWizard Tournament. Walking back in to her office, Sylvie moved around to her desk. "Yes, I was once a student here." she smiled as she remembered her time as a Slytherin. "Part of the Slytherin House for five years, you are stay in that house, are you not?" She had heard in passing that one champion from each visiting school would be staying in each house. She kind of felt for the young lady, as she remembered how cold and dank those dungeons could be. "I actually lived in Paris for some time before coming to Hogwarts." she replied and glanced back tot he chaise just outside her door. "I actually bought back as much as I could from France here to Hogwarts. I do think, I did a good job if I say so myself." It would be her home away from home for a while, so she did her best to make it her own.
Sitting down in her chair, she looked over to the young witch and nodded. "I would suggest Hogwarts: A History then. I have a number of editions, if you are interested in a certain one." Each volume was basically the same but small additions were added to each. "Was there anything you were looking for in particular?" |

"I always thought it was to add character to the room, which I never did understand. One does get used to it after a while." She did get used to it after her second term as a student, but truth be told, the skulls did give her the creeps her first year.
Glancing at the map just behind her, she smiled brightly. "I worked in the Ministry for a time, then at the Louvre." she explained. She did have a marvellous time whilst in Paris, but being back to England and then back here at Hogwarts was what she needed. "It reminds me of my time in Paris, but it's very British as well. A mixture of both really, my past, present and future all together." It was rather fitting after all.
Getting up from her desk, she walked over to the spiral stairs and made her way up and toward on of the high bookcases. Pulling down the right edition, she returned down the stairs and walked over to Monique. "This is the most recent copy I have, the newest is to be sent to me for Flourish and Blotts soon. So I hope this one will help you," she smiled as she handed over the large book. "It is an interesting read. I used to read it over the summer before my return to school each year." |

"How very wise." she said commenting on the Professor's design choices. "It suits you well." "Thank you so much Professor." she said accepting the book. "I will take good care of it and bring it back soon."

She, herself, loved anything classy. It didn't matter to her whether it was magical or not. "How very wise." she said commenting on the Professor's design choices. "It suits you well." "Thank you so much Professor." she said accepting the book. "I will take good care of it and bring it back soon." Sylvie laughed ever so softly and nodded. "It does really get some getting used to, but after some time you won't even notice it." It was just part of the charm of the dungeons after all. "It really isn't all that bad down there, the couch and fireplace in the common room were one of my favourite places to read." Of course, it was also prime space for people watching as well. "Art is something that should be enjoyed by all, really." she sighed. "It really should be appreciated, all forms of it, muggle and magical. You know that was the fun part about working at the Louvre. I got to see all kinds of art." It actually never did feel like work there. Again, she looked around her office. "Thank you, I'm glad you think so." With all the time she would be in there, she did hope it suited her. She did want to look like she did belong there. "Well, as an educator, I'm here to help in anyway. You are very welcome. Feel free to come and borrow more books if you want as well," she added as she returned to her desk. "There are more than enough books to go around ready." |

"I do hope you are right." she said. "I will have to try it out. I am usually an outdoor reader. I do not think that will be possible here for most of the term though."
She smiled. "I bet that was a lot of fun." she said. She enjoyed visiting, so she could only imagine how it was to be there all the time. She balanced the book on her hip. "I'm so glad that I've met someone with the same opinions. Even back at France not everyone understood art." "Well thank you very much. I will be happy to take you up on that offer." she said.

"I highly advise you do try it once during your time with us. You might actually enjoy it," Sylvie smirked ever so slightly. She know she enjoyed her time on that couch and all that she saw and learned there. "Outside? Well the lake is a nice place as well, as is near the Willow. Just remember to ask before you sit down. The Willow can be rather moody at times."
She wasn't surprised at all. Not many people really appreciated the simple beauty of art. "Well, i got all the good taste in my family," she joked. "My brother always thought it was a bit boring being surrounded by paintings and all, but there is a simple beauty about it. Even the portraits here have an underlying beauty to them." "Your very welcome and I do hope you visit one of my lessons as well. It might be educational to see how lessons are taught here." she replied. "I'd actually enjoy hearing what you and the other visiting students have to say about history." |

Reading by fireplace light did sound like a charming idea. Hmmm... the willow? She must have been referring to the tree that nearly took off Jermaine's head. She'd keep her distance from that for now.
She nodded as the Professor spoke about art. She completely agreed with everything she had to say. It was a good view for a Professor to have. Monique hoped she would be able to influence her students in that way. "I would enjoy that very much." she said. "I am actually planning on attending a few classes. I will be sure to make your class one of them."

"I'm sure that attending some lessons would be entertaining. I'm not at all familiar with what the curriculum is like at Beauxbatons or Dumstrang, but I do hope our curriculum is up to par." she replied. Each school was bound to have very different curriculum but she did hope that the material she was offering wouldn't just be a repeat for those that were visiting. "I do look forward to seeing the visiting students in lessons this term. I do hope you are all settling in well." she added. "I remember how strange it is to be in a new place after being at one place for most their life. A bit shocking to the system sometime." Yet a change in scenery was always a good things as well. |
