| | Task One - Hogwarts Champions
In a clearing somewhere in the midst of the Forbidden Forest, is a group of caves known as the "Fire Seed Caves." It is in these caves that the Champions' wands have been hidden. Champions must use their wits to navigate through the dark and survive unknown dangers to reclaim their wands. From the outside, there is no indication how deep or how large these caverns are, only darkness as you look into it. Each champion stands alone and will not see another person until they emerge.
One of the entrances to the cave stands before you. The Goblet chose you and so, enter you must.

They do not target you directly, but as they careen off the cavern walls and the grass, they cannot help but pummel you in the process. There is nowhere to run, as the shore bumps up against walls of rock on all sides. If you can look around long enough - not likely until the bulbs are taken care of - one wall only goes so high. But, it is too high to jump and too sheer to climb. An errant bulb knocks a bag from a shelf in the wall, spilling a bean that burrows its way into the sand.
From that bean, green tendrils being to sprout, working their way toward the surface and breaking through. As he swam as hard as he could his arms started getting sore and a deep burn coursed through him. He couldn't stop...he needed to get out of here. Gritting his teeth he forced himself onward through the waves thankful that there was a place nearby his house that he swam at regularly now. Ohh he was going to be sore tomorrow that one was for sure. As the water grew less and less he stood up and gasped in a breath as the bubble head charm disappeared. Well that was fun...not.... Holding up his wand he said, "Lumos," and watched as the wand lit and just about that time a bouncing bulb hit him dead in the face. "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Bloody hell!!!!"
Holding on to his nose he looked around to see a lot of them bouncing around. What a brilliant place for them, He thought sarcastically. "Protego," he said pointing the wand to himself and relighting the wand right after in time to see a giant bean stalk growing. Still holding his nose he walked over to it and frowned, "Dat wadn't dere before." What was this a fairy tale? He flinched as another bulb came at him and looked up the stalk again, could he climb it? It didn't look strong enough to climb though.... What else was he supposed to do though let the bulbs pummel him to death?

The bouncing bulbs bounce off the shield charm, flying off into the darkness as the spell propels them away. It might be kind of entertaining if they weren't, you know, trying to use you as a human launch pad as well.
The stalk continues to climb up into the darkness, growing up the side of the nearby rock wall, as tendrils curl up along the sides, almost like footrests.

Miles jumped every time one of the bulbs hit the shield he had cast as his eyes stayed on growing beanstalk that was now growing for what looked to be just for him to climb up. Taking his hand from his nose he looked down and saw the blood. With no shirt and him not being fantastic at healing spells he knew he was going to look like a mess by the time he got out of here.
Placing one hand on the stalk he looked up and sighed, "Hope there's no giants up there or I'm gonna be reaaaaaaaaaaally mad." Upward he continued to climb making sure to keep an eye out for anything that might pop out at him over the rock edge or above debating whether he could fit through that hole that the stalk had made. Probably not.

Probably not. If beanstalks were elevators, this would be your floor. Climb the stalk any higher and there would be no ground to set your feet on. Tread carefully, however, as the path quickly narrows and there are no walls. Instead, perilous drop-offs await on both sides should one slip.
Soon, you come to another fork. From where you stand, the only different you can notice is that one path looks wider, at least as far as you can see, that is. Nothing else betrays what may lie ahead. Which way? Left and narrow or right and wide?

The fun was run out of this and now he was growing more irritable by the second. He just wanted to get out of here. Seeing the path narrow he groaned and slowed his steps so he didn't say...die by falling off the side.
Continuing onward he saw a fork in the path again and groaned in frustration. Seriously a sign would be fantastic. Since he'd taken the right before he'd go right again just for the hell of it. Stupid task with it's stupid forks and it's stupid puzzles, he thought irritable to himself as he kept his wand at the ready and kicked a few rocks on his way down the path.

The path was wider, for sure, but as you travel further down it, the incline grows steeper and the path slick with water. Watch your footing. It's a long way down.
As you proceed forward, your path is suddenly blocked by a large, spiky plant that spans the width of the walkway. At first you think it might just be a harmless pile of vines, until the vines start moving, trying to grab you with their long, green tendrils. To your horror, the plant also seems to have numerous fangs—you might want to avoid those. Don’t forget to look out for spikes, getting hit by one of those must be VERY unpleasant! The only way to advance is to get past this extremely venomous plant, so tread carefully!

If this turned into a giant hole he wasn't going to be happy. Though thankfully this time he had his wand. Slowing down so he wouldn't slip on the path his feet were sore and stinging thanks to having no shoes on the rocky path. They were probably cut up something awful but he really didn't want to look and find out.
Looking around he stopped suddenly as he saw a very familiar plant. Was that...Venmous Tentacula?! Oh this was just great now he was going to die by poison. FAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC! Holding up his wand he pointed it at the plant. Tentacula....tentacula.... "Ah ha. Diffindo!" he said pointing it at the evil plant.

The plant jerks and is stunned as your spell severs one of its vines. It hadn't time to spurt venom at you before it ceased to move.
Don't be too confident, however, as after a some time, it begins to move again, its remaining vines undulating .
This beastie needs some more pruning.

This beastie needs some more pruning. Miles watched with a sort of satisfaction and amusement as the plant was stunned and then a fine severed. Take that evil plant! To his annoyance however the spell didn't last long and it started moving again.
Gripping his wand tighter he smirked and continued to shoot Diffindo spells at it like it was some sort of stress reliever and in a way it was. It'd be more so if he could actually get his hands on it however. Though that meant death and Fia would kill him again if he got himself killed so...that was a big no on that front.

The plant was putting up a good fight, spitting venom left and right, but was not able to make contact with you as the spells continue to fly at it. Finally, after the storm of spells ceases, the plant stops moving, half of it's tendrils completely severed and the others are completely immobile.
Resting beneath the now motionless tendrils, you see something glittery...is there something shiny down there?

Miles threw spell after spell at it and after awhile stopped as everything got quiet and he noticed the plant not moving. A smirk came to his face and a not very nice one at that. "Take that! I win," he laughed and looked around as his eyes caught on something shiny underneath the motionless vines. What was that and did he risk going under there and getting it. Nope.
Pointing his wand at the shiny object would it work if he didn't know what the object was? It was work a shot. Shrugging he kept his wand steady and said, "Accio shiny thing."

The fallen tendrils beneath the plant quivered slightly, and the shiny object flew into the champion's hand. It was a large, silver key!
You hear a rumbling and the floor beneath you shakes as the beanstalk has continued to grow and has, indeed, broken through the top of the cave. The holes are not large enough to climb out of, if you could even get good footing on the stalk. But, they are large enough to let light stream in. Slight tendrils curl off the main stalk and the light shining through reflects off something attached to one of them. It's just out of reach, unless you'd like to try to stretch and risk falling.
Elsewhere in your general vicinity, one aptly placed hole allows light to shine down illuminating a door. A door! Upon further inspection, however, a large, rusted padlock stands between you and what looks like your best exit.

Miles' eyes widened as something flew into his hand and a grin came over his face as he saw it was a key. YES! Freedom soon! Then he could get warm, healed since he was pretty sure his nose just might be broken thanks to that stupid bulb since it hurt unbelievably bad, and hug his fiance.
He frowned as the ground began to shake and with a quick look around saw the beanstalk had continued to grow and had broken through the ceiling. Watching out for falling rocks he eyed the hole that was made and shook his head. Still can't get out that way. His eyes did however catch sight of another shining thing that he wasn't tall enough to reach, of course. If the spell worked on the key would it work on the shiny thing too? "Accio shiny thing," he said pointing his wand toward it hoping it would work just as the corner of his eye caught a door and a grin came to his face. He could do this. Just catch the shiny thing and get out as fast as he could before there really was a giant.

The vine on the beanstalk shook and, after a few seconds, the shiny object was freed and flew towards the champion, soaring through the air like a wobbly frisbee. It's a mirror--incredibly shiny with a silver frame, engraved with the roman numeral III at the top of the frame.

"Why's it gotta be 3 why not 1..." Siggggggggh. Shrugging he stuck it under his arm and with a quick look around headed for the door. Headed for FREEDOM or what he hoped to whomever was freedom.
Holding the key in his hand and his wand in his mouth he placed the silver key in the lock and after a few tries cause it was rusted, he finally got it to turn. Why they would have a rusted lock here was beyond him, especially when the key was so shiny. He better not get tetanus or someone was going to hear his anger. Pushing open the door he held his breath praying that this would be the exit and not some next maze cause he just might lose his mind if it kept going. They'd find him in here talking to a wall...or a plant or maybe the bowtruckles.

The key turns in the lock as the light continues to stream in, the one tendril of the stalk still shines, and the cave grows still once more.
Behind the door is a steep, empty corridor, well lit from light streaming in from an opening at the end.
If you take a deep breath, you'll smell something you haven't since you entered the cave. Fresh air.
You're out. You're done. You're alive.
Just a little walking left.

Sticking his wand back in his other pocket where it belonged he walked toward the light with a grin on his face though his body was tired. Why had he signed up for this again? But he'd gotten through now to recoup and wait for the next one.

As the champion exits, the door closes behind him.
