| | |  Stained Glass Windows
Fire and paper do not go well together. The library, therefore, features a reduced number of torches on the walls to minimize any danger to the books. A number of large stained glass windows, placed at regular intervals where the room is part of the outside wall of the castle, ensure that sufficient light gets in. Stretching all the way to the ceiling, these windows depict different famous witches and wizards, momentous historical occasions, and beautifully detailed magical creatures.
Relax on one of the cushioned window seats. Watch the floor and nearby shelves change subtly in color as the sunlight shines through the stained glass panels. Read a book under the calm gaze of Merlin or the fearsome scowl of a Manticore. Sometimes, it is difficult to stay focused here, but there are students who swear that, when sitting at the window of Rowena Ravenclaw, work gets completed faster.
All rules apply here, and although the glass can't be broken by simple spells or physical force, please be careful and respect the artwork on the windows. Remember to keep your voice down so as not to disturb those also visiting the library.

Fletcher sat, like the well-trained boy he was. He squished in closer to the cushion and awkwardly let his long legs hang off the side of the ledge. This was just... cozy.
"Oh, oh yeah," he nodded several times and plumped a cushion behind his back. Immediately his mind went to the 'intensive therapy' he had needed after the first task. Perhaps Neptune would be able to help as well? "It was just so stressful, you know, fighting off a giant cockatrice single-handed. I'm just lucky I wasn't injured during the last round... I think........"
He was just waiting for Awesome Bott to ask for more details on the tournament. Of course she'd want to know alllll about it. And of course he would want to share, because in Fletcher's version of the story... Raiden and Noel hadn't even been present at the Third Task, and he had narrowly escaped certain death only about a hundred times.
Egotistical much?

Neptune leaned in toward Duncan, her nose very nearing his. "It's all a bit barbaric, really. Suits you though, you know?" GIGGLE. Barbaric thing. Punching people in the FACE, fighting off ... monsters and all that stuff. She sat back into her seat and put her legs over his, upping the cozy comfy-ness. "I'm still mad with you," sort of, "but still, I'm happy for you. You did very well, obviously, and kept all your limbs and looks."

But then she had called him barbaric. So of course he had to turn his cheek and feign anger. "Whatever do you mean by that, Miss Bott," he huffed, fighting a little smirk at the same time. "I will never lose my good looks. Ever." Duh. "You think I did well though?"
He turned his head back and wiggled his eyebrows a little. "How well?"

"You know what I mean, Mr. Punch-People-In-The-Eye. Really, I've never felt quite so bad in all my life. You made me feel SO guilty when I saw Kellen's purple eye!" Neptune did much EVER feel guilt, so see? Duncan's crime was a SERIOUS sort of thing. He got the look. The 'you are a very naughty boy' look.
.... that lasted not nearly long enough. GIGGLE. She twirled a bit of hair and obliged him in a bit of fan-girling for his Champion SKILLS. "Well...... I was sort of rooting for Noel, 'cause Raiden is mean, and you're absolutely absurd, but.... on the INSIDE I was definitely pulling for you." That also might have been because she thought him.... a bit dumb and didn't wish for him to die. He'd done SO good though! Even Neptune had to admit, and had. "I couldn't HELP but be for you. "......Stern's eye turned purple?" HA HA HA HA HA. Fletcher was SO pleased to hear that fact. One of his hands went up to cover a definite smirk forming on his lips now. AHHHHHHH man that was glorious. His eye had turned purple. PURPLE! What a girly little color. Ha. Hahaha. Fletcher's pop would be so proud of his son if he coulda heard that.
Ahem. "Yeah well it got the point across, didn't it? And really, you should feel even guiltier," Fletcher revealed, dropping the smirk and turning his hand against his cheek. He rubbed at his jaw and remembered the consequence of hitting Kellen Stern. "Your friend Raiden felt the need to defend Stern, for some reason. He broke my jaw you know."
Clearly the Prefect WAS mean, even if Fletcher did get him back and took out his nose. Still, the Huffelpuff might've sniffled once or twice for sympathy as Neptune rambled on about cheering for everyone under the sun. At last she mentioned something important.... and it was about time somebody noticed!
"I AM impressive," Fletcher jutted his head up proudly and shook back his shiny locks. "In more ways than one."
He had impressive fistfighting and snogging skills, for example.

Awwwwwwwww! Neptune hadn't really KNOWN that... Her bottom lip wibbled something TRAGIC. She hadn't meant for ANYONE to get hurt!! Her eyes followed his hand to his jaw. Though it was clearly healed and fine now, Neptune STILL had mad urges to touch his jaw and pet him and make his booboos better. She lifted a hand to DO just that, but... chickened out and put it back down again.
In addition to impressive, the Triwizard Champion was a teensy bit intimidating, too.

The only situation in which Fletcher would have felt sorry for Kellen Stern would have to take place in an alternate universe wherein he was capable of feeling sympathy for a stuck-up Ravenclaw who made girls cry and sicced his Slytherin friends on poor, innocent Hufflepuffs.
In other words, it was never going to happen. But instead of snorting and harrrumphing and making all sorts of nonverbal disagreeing noises, Fletcher took a big long look up to the ceiling and inhaled deeply. Breathe in, breathe out. All was already done and forgotten. It was a closed chapter. He had even made amends with Raiden already.
Fletcher's attention was only drawn back to Neptune when he saw her hand out of the corner of his eye. Oh, no? No consolation there? Tsk tsk. No guys, no glory, Awesome Bott. He wasn't one to let a situation like this slip by.
"It still aches, sometimes, you know," Fletcher murmured, his hand falling from his cheek as he stared out the window like a wise, scarred war veteran who had seen much but spoke little. His gaze was long and deep and almost unfocused as he continued to speak cryptically. "Awesome is such a subjective term, Neptune.... sometimes, awesome people have to do awesome things to defend their awesomeness...."
Whatever that was supposed to mean, he didn't even know. But it sounded awesome in his head.

What did it mean that Neptune TOTALLY got what he was saying? It took a moment on her part, but slowly she began to nod. Not that hitting KELLYBEAR would EVER be forgivable ... but Neptune understood. Ish.
She pulled her knees underneath her and leaned towards Mr. Champion, still not touching the afflicted area but getting a much closer look. Maybe she should escort him to the Nurse and demand better treatment? He WAS the Champion of young witches and wizards of the WORLD, after all. Finally, if not all out shyly, Neptune eased her fingers towards the line of his jaw. She half expected to FEEL broken jagged bits of the bone (EW).
"I don't usually say things like this, but I'm sorry." It had TOTALLY been HIS fault that he got hit, revenge and well deserved, but in the end... Neptune should have known that someone like The Triwizard Champion would go and fight for her honor. She should have had the foresight to stop that. Neptune held his face lightly with one hand and brushed his booboo with her thumb.
Maybe she should slip him the Aparecium piece about Jim and her and wait for her honor to be defended? Unlike Kellen, Jim DESERVED to be taken out back and...

Fletcher could feel Neptune's eyes on him as he slowly turned away from the window and his deep staring. He waited, silent, for a few long moments. And then at last she stroked his cheek. That helped, but you know it wasn't the best therapy. The best way to heal Sir Fletcher was with a kiss. Just sayin.
"It's not your fault," he admitted quietly, his jaw moving slightly as he spoke. He put his hand over hers and made a little smile. "Besides... you're worth it. It's what the Triwizard Champion does, you know. Saving damsels in distress. Tis all in a day's work."
From one awesome person to another, that was the Merlin-awesome truth.

Punching people before they eat was THE BEST though. 'Til Neptune had to crash his mood.
"Yeah... I guess... but I'll still be out there.... somewhere, doing awesome stuff," Fletcher's tone was just a little pouty and he waved one hand to demonstrate his point. "A professor? Really?"
Now it was his turn to give Neptune a 'you are really really dumb fo real,' look. "You have to be old to be a professor, Miss Bott." He winkled his nose as he looked down at her. "And I have nothing to teach, besides awesomeness."
Did professors even get paid enough? "I'd rather work for Gringotts instead," he mused to himself, in case Neptune wanted to know. "Cursebreaking and treasure hunting sound sweeeeeet." As Champion he certainly knew how to go after the gold.

Cass sat down on a chair beside on of the huge stained glass windows at the library. She needed a quiet place to think before she made any rash decisions. She just hoped that the librarian would allow her to just sit here and think...she really had no place else to go. But, nevertheless, she came prepared. She looked down on the book that she brought along; The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why the Muggles Prefer Not to Know by Professor Mordicus Egg.
