The staff are seated at a long table, stretching across a dais at the front of the room. Feel free to come up and greet them after the feast has started.
Oh, and this was...someone new, yup. Lexi turned her attention away from Nolan and toward the lady who'd just made her way up to the table. "Hi, there. I'm Alexia Carlton, Charms professor. You can call me Lexi, though," she said. The woman appeared to be polite, but one could never really tell. If she wasn't polite, though...well then just pin a rose on her nose.
Maya had quickly started scanning the area, keeping an extra eye on those... not-french visitors. Yes, yes, she had already forgotten the name of their school. But who could blame her, she wasn't used to all of this.
Although...it did remind her of her big family dinners at home. Sigh.
Her focus was interrupted by the voice of her neighbour and she turned her head towards the woman. "Oh, hello," Maya reached out a hand towards Lexi, her spanish accent taking control of her english. "Very nice to meet you! My name is Maya Saylen," she said, quite happy to finally get to know her colleagues. And this woman didn't seem as freaky as some of the students - exellent.
"I am the new..." the title was a handfull! "Care of Magical Creatures professor." Nod. "Do they always have this ...grand feast here?" She was refering to the other shools and the big parades...

I hope you'll make our guests welcome, and I hope you will take an opportunity to get to know them and to learn more about their cultures. Headmaster Zitnik and Headmistress Enzo have traveled a great distance with their four champions, and we are pleased to have them."
He waited a moment before continuing. "Our own champions will be selected very soon. Sometime in the next few days, the Goblet of Fire will be set up in the Entrance Hall. Any student who will be turning 17 during this school year is eligible to put their name into the Goble, which will select four Hogwarts candidates from that pool. By putting your name in the Goblet, you acknowledge the understanding that you are putting yourself into peril. I don't intend anyone to die... but it happens. An age line will be set up around the Goblet, as per usual, to repel anyone not old enough."
Another pause. "I regret to inform the students that Quidditch will be suspended for the term, but we hope to resume it next term. On that cheery note, I welcome all our new students and staff members, bid you eat and drink while the food is abundant, and then... to bed!" He clapped and the tables were suddenly laden with food. The feasting could begin.
And then it seemed Headmaster Tate would be the one to adress everyone with this speech.
Maya had hada clue what was going on, what the term would bring them all, but it was still nice to get a refresher. She nodded in understanding and let her eyes look out over the students again, seeing their reaction.
All in all, it seemed to be a great EXCITING- ''I don't intend anyone to die... but it happens.''
She turned her head and stared at the Headmaster. Was he serious? It seemed Maya had not fully understood THAT part of the game. Ay, Merlín... No, nono...surely, no one was going to get THAT hurt...that would be RIDICULOUS and innapropriate and... idiotic.
Right?

"And oh, yes, the feast is really good. I hope you're enjoying yourself, professor. But..." He trailed off, purposely. Things that he was about to say shouldn't be heard by anyone but the person he was intending to pass his message on. Cedric moved closer to the professor and muttered in almost hoarse whisperings, "If not, unfortunately. Why not talk to the guy I just talked to and let him make your day, Ma'am?" She wouldn't regret it. Ced was sure. He always was.
But...
Please. Don't. Give. Him. A. Detention. Pweeeze.
A small frown appeared on her brow as Maya cautiously watched the young man. She chuckled softly - and not in a happy way. She was NOT going to call him Cedric just because he wanted her to.
And then suddenly the boy leaned in. Maya, quite surprised at what he was doing, blinked a few moments before leaning back.
...
What the hell did that mean!?
Allright, no more.
She stood up, put her hands on the table to let her arms support herself - looking quite stern. "Mister Leone, I suggest you go take a seat RIGHT NOW before something more unintelligible decides to barge out from your mouth. And I assure you...I do not have any problems taking points from you for interrupting dinner." She raised her eyebrows. What's it going to be?
But it seemed the boy had taken someone elses suggestions. Right. Sitting down again, she glanced towards Lexi and took a deep breath.

Preston gave Lexi another quick smile. "It was a lovely summer, thank you. I am glad to be back here, however." With a small bow, Preston excused himself and made his way to his seat.
Sliding into the chair, he was looking out over the Hall when Professor Lafay addressed him... by last name only. "Good evening, Professor Lafay, he said, stressing the title.
He watched the introductions of the other schools with interest, taking note of how polite some of the visitors seemed to be... and how much his own students seemed to fawn over them. This would certainly be... interesting.
Turning to the new professor to Hecate's right, he greeted the man. "Welcome aboard, Professor Zookara. I'm Preston Kingsley, Transfiguration."
His attention was diverted, though, by what looked like a ruckus at the Ravenclaw Table... and.. oh dear.
"Excuse me," he said, suddenly, standing, before glancing down the table to Professor Vindictus. Preston was at the end of the table while Max was in the center.. yes, he'd go down. Least disruptive.
And down he went.

Sage wasn't a fan of feasts. Socializing wasn't his thing.. having to talk amongst his colleagues. He just wasn't any good at it. He knew he ought to introduce himself to the new face on his left - Professor Lainey's replacement he presumed - but arrrgh.
Professor Lafay was giving him strange looks from down the table, he'd caught Lexi giving him a wave and Lilyan was giggling at something or other.
And he was just sitting there like the gooseberry he was.
He was glad none of the visiting Headmasters were seated beside him.. he was sure they'd be quite displeased.
"This is the best part of the feast," he said to the new Histroy of Magic professor as he piled mashed potatoes onto his plate, "the food." But then, if she'd attended Hogwarts during her school years, she'd already know that. Hm.

"Miss Donovan..." she said looking over her way. "I have borrowed a few books from the restricted section, during the summer... I will return them promptly tomorrow." She said to her.
Kimber retracted her hand and gave the Potion Mistress an icy glare. "It's MS. Donovan, Professor," she corrected her, brushing her fingers across her robes. At least the Headmaster had been intelligent enough not to make such assumptions. "The library will open immediately following breakfast. Shall I expect you then?" she asked calmly. Though something in her tone suggested it was more of an expectation than an invitation.
Entwining his fingers with Lexi's, Jake swung their arms in a huuuuuge arc as the moved along, and when she questioned him... well...
"Everybody's heard that the bird is the word!" Jake announced with a huge grin and started SKIPSKIPSKIPPING to the staff dias, all the way singing. "Birdbirdbirdbirdbird the bird is the word! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word."
Yeah, he didn't stutter when he sang. It's how it always was.
Lexi gripped Jake's hand and just looked at him like o_O. Oh for the love of all things Merlin... what had he done to himself? Lexi felt the blush creep up her neck as Jakers sang something about a bird... She was mortified and amused. Odd combination. Heh.
Reaching the Staff Table she looked around for the Healer and then realized she didn't actually know the Healer... Great! She had had the good fortune of not having to visit the Hospital Wing since two terms ago. Yeah... Moving on.
She walked with Jake to the nearest Professor and said, "Excuse me ma'am, which of these people is the Healer?" She tried to keep her voice down and avoid Tate's eye.

An all-too familiar voice caused Josephina to turn her head and squint all the way down the table at the other end. Amazing that even from the opposite end of the table, she would recognize that face anyway. Sugar!shop man was a teacher?!
Shame those students had to interrupt her conversation with him, or she might have actually found that out on her own. Or even learned his name. Well technically they didn't interrupt, but she wasn't about to let them carry on the way they were. So she interrupted them . . . and her lovely conversation. And he still owed her that ice cream too. Pout.
She'll just have to blame it on him for getting sick; he didn't buy her ice cream.
Still leaning forward in his seat to be able to make out the face of the woman sitting next to the Peppermint!Woman from Sugarplum's, Jeremy felt a pair of eyes on him. Was there anybody else who recognized him? Or just somebody who thought he was interesting to look at?
It turned out to be a little of both options probably. (Hehe.) The Peppermint!Woman finally seemed to have noticed him...and apparently recognized too, judging by the way she was staring at him anyways. Should he wave? He was very tempted to. It wasn't embarrassing. Plus, he sort of still owed her that ice cream. According to her he did. And he had gone along with it so, he DID owe her ice cream. Even though, SHE had been the one to leave him standing at the shelf to go scold some students.
Now, what had he actually been considering? Oh, right, to wave or not to wave? Yes, definitely wave. With a mouthed "Hi!" and a grin he made sure that she was looking his way before giving her a short wave. She would have to ask for her name later...too far away down at the Staff Table right now.

Though, neither of the two seemed very pleased to see him, nor keen on talking to him. Was that hostility he could feel in the air? However, more to each other than to him. Or so he hoped.
First turning to the black-haired woman to his right he grinned at her once again - even though, he HAD noticed she was not - and took her offered hand to give it a soft shake. "Nice to meet you, Kimber. Librarian, really? That's great." And it was...because, library obviously meant lots of books. But, he couldn't dwell on that any further because he didn't want the other woman to think he was ignoring her.
Who was not offering her hand. Which was why he slowly retract his hand he had already began to offer her. Err."Nice to meet you too, Professor...?" Because she had not introduced herself. No matter if she had done it on purpose or not, he was persistent. "But do call me Jeremy."Professor Zookara still sounded too weird.

Though, the way she was staring at him was...a little...erm...discomforting. She was a student after all.
"Why hello, Miss...?" An introduction on her part would have been nice. A good way to start a conversation. Weird girl. Though, the Headmaster saved both of them more awkwardness by ordering her back to her house table. Good. Not that he didn't like her or anything but she was a little weird. Bye, weird girl. For now.
O_____o
Still a little taken aback by the weird girl, Jeremy half-listened to the Headmaster's speech and applauded at the right parts (hopefully) before returning his attention to the two women beside him. Who seemed to be liking each other less and less by the minute. What a nice distraction. Not.
The man a few seats down (Sage) might prove to be a better one. He seemed to be really nervous about something. And was he throwing anxious glances at the noname-woman next to him? Interesting...very interesting.

Lexi had wanted to visit...Hawaii, for instance. Next summer, she was owling LILY to make plans. "Mmhmm, yes, it is good to be back, and I'm happy to hear that you had a great summer," she commented. With those sunglasses, perhaps he never really left Fiji at all. His mindset seemed to still be there, at least...
"Professor Kingsley," Lexi greeted, giving the man a little nod before she was separated from him by nearly an entire table length. She'd ask how his summer had been, but seeing as she'd seen him in the staff room just a few weeks prior, she petty much knew didn't even have to ask about his summer. "I'm doing just fine, thanks. I hope the same for you, of course."
Seeing Nolan snag the seat next to her, Lexi turned to her friend with a smile on her face. "Hey, Nolan. How ya doing?" she asked. He seemed in a pretty good mood...a much better mood than he'd been in when they'd met in Diagon Alley. "Doing much better, I'm guessing?" Yeah, that's right, Nolan Reynolds. Lexi Carlton was on to you and your not-so-happy mood in Diagon Alley.
Oh, and this was...someone new, yup. Lexi turned her attention away from Nolan and toward the lady who'd just made her way up to the table. "Hi, there. I'm Alexia Carlton, Charms professor. ...aww. There was Lily, all the way down the table. Well, she wasn't that far away, but Lexi would have to yell to speak to her, and that was no good.
...
...and Sage was next to Lily, as well, which meant that two of the people she really, really wanted to talk to were just too far down the blasted table. She smiled and waved to both before turned toward some Durmstrang kid who'd come to say hello.
"Oh, it's nice to meet you, Mr. Petrov. I'm Professor Carlton, the Charms professor," she replied. It was nice of the kid to come say hello, even if he did have a headmaster with the last name Sputnik. Sputnik! Ha ha! The name sounded sort of...
...Oh. Nevermind. Cancel that, change of plans, etc., etc. The Durmstrang professor looked scary, especially with that loud, banging stick that accompanied him. Far be it from Lexi to get a good laugh out of someone like that.
Mental note...stay on Sputnik's good side.
Emma Malfoy went over to the Staff table to visit the Professors. And to say hello. She was so happy to be back. She went over to Professor Carlton. She grinned. "Hello Professor! How are you?" she asked happily, with a huge smile on her face.

Still slightly amused with the happening of her old house table, Sylvie coughed softly as to hide a laugh. Oh how she did remember being that young and the foolishness she used to get to. It was rather rude to stare, but it was also amusing to see the display at the Slytherin table.
Pulling her eyes away, she then noticed that the food had finally arrived. She was a bit ravished at the moment. Her nerves were perhaps just getting the best of her at the moment and food was probably needed to settle her a bit. Looking to her right as she heard someone address her, she offered a smile and nodded. "Yes, the food was usually my favourite part of the feast as a student, well especially when I was a first year," she replied as she helped herself to some potatoes. She always did remember the food at that first feast, especially those potatoes and the chicken.
"I'm Sylvie-Renée Welton, by the way." she offered as she kept an ear open to the happenings around the table as well. In the corner of her eye, she did catch some movement and the strange feeling that someone was looking at her as well.
"Risu," she said and smiled at the man. It was nice to see a friendly face at the staff table... even though it was his.
Some friendly faces - for a charitable definition of "friendly" in the case of the Potions professor, perhaps - had taken their seats on Risu's sides. Risu gave Hecate a bright smile. "Good evening, Hecate," he said, inclining his head politely.

The headmaster stood up to give his speech, and Risu, drinking from his goblet of pumpkin juice, listened blankly, trying to figure out how to get his students to pay attention this term. Quidditch was bad enough, but something as exciting as the Triwizard Tournament was sure to completely grab everyone's attention.
As usual, food appeared in large quantities as soon as the speech was over. Ladling tomato soup into a bowl, Risu turned to his right where the cheerful Arithmancy teacher sat.
"How are you, er, Fina," he said, closing the lid on the steaming pot of soup. "I have to say, I did enjoy my summer. I did nothing exciting, of course," he flashed a smile, "but any break from the regular trot at school is desirable. What about you?"

Tate slid back into his high-backed seat and immediately filled his mouth with potatoes. He was NOT going to talk to anyone until he'd eaten at least a few bites. Students were so bloody inconsiderate, wandering up to chat while they were eating. Whatever happened to courtesy? Whatever happened having a healthy fear of authority???
He shook his spoon at the students currently in front of the table. And why did people always get hurt in stupid ways at the feast? Lily NEVER got to eat her meal.
And why was Lily giggling? He shook his spoon at her too.
The prospect of people dying made some Headmasters very cranky.

"I apologize for interrupting, but Professor Carlton told me to bring him to you... I THINK he has drunk a potion or concoction or something. He has been giggling uncontrollably and saying something about you making his ahppy go away. I think he needs help," Lexi said as quietly as she could because she didn't want to upset Tate. She didn't even dare glance toward the Headmaster...

....Why was Tater Tot shaking his spoon at her? She nodded at him as if to say, 'Why yes, that is a very nice spoon you've got there. How lovely.' And then her attention was pulled from the spoon wagger, to the girl who spoke.....

She pursed her lips.
"And did you, boy?" Lily asked, frowning. "Surely you would know better than to drink a random potion you happened upon." Honestly, it was only common sense. It could have turned up worse than only incessant giggling.

There was nothing worse for a woman than being caught looking at a guy. One who happened to be incredibly good looking too. And if there was one thing Josephina was certain of, it was that sugar!guy totally spotted her looking . . . and her recognition too, likely. Cheeks flushing a little - similar to that of a school girl - she swallowed.
Get it together, Fina. He's probably married, she scolded herself mentally, though a small voice also told otherwise. After all, why wouldn't he have argued against owing her ice cream? He wanted it too. Giving a small wave back, she quickly turned her attention to the newly appeared food. Food was always a good distraction.

Food and the Astronomy Professor. He was so nonchalant, it was easy to distract herself from her goofy school girl blush and forget about sugar!guy at the other end of the staff dias.
"Been better." She murmured, eying the soup wistfully. That would be good for her. "Unfortunately came down with a cold or something like yesterday." So not fair, she sniffled again. "But other than that, my summer was nice. Visited my parents in Italy for a couple weeks, which was nice, as I haven't really seen them properly in years." Truth, considering much of her life after Hogwarts graduation was spent South of the Equator.

As he glanced around the table, chewing on his bread roll and eyeing up the new professors, he noticed that Josephina Hadley looked extremely under the weather. He smiled at her and gave her a little wave across the table. "Allergies or a cold?" he asked. Hopefully not the flu. He'd had one near brush with that in DA, he did NOT need another.
Josephina was taken aback when Nolan seemed to be addressing her. He was always so nice and polite; nerdy, but nice. Even when they were students. She gave a small wave back to him and a small cough. "Uhm... Allergies, I hope? But we'll find out in a few days for sure." She nodded. If it went away in a few days, it was allergies. If it was still here next week, then she knew it was a cold.

Glancing down the table, Fina's eyes bulged slightly upon how fast the Headmaster be seemed to be shoveling food into his mouth. She just hoped he wouldn't choke, because that was the last thing they needed.
In the meantime, it was food time, wasn't it? Which meant . . . soup! Ladling some soup into her bowl, she began spooning some into her mouth, letting the warmth satisfy her. Soup and tea were like HEAVEN when one didn't feel well.

Picking up her fork and knife, Sylvie glanced slightly in the other direction and blinked. The Headmaster was shovelling food into his mouth. She really hoped that he didn't choke. That would not be good at all. She really didn't want her first feast to involve memories of the Heimlich Maneuver being used.
Letting out a soft cough, she looked back down at her plate and began to dig in. There were many students around the table now and she did want to get at least a bite or two in before someone tried to introduce themselves to her.
Cass headed for the raised platform where the long staff table was situated. What was she doing here again? Why;d she even go up here? It seemed like a good idea when she was sitting with her house with no one to talk to...but right now it just seemed like a not so well thought off plan. She turned back but then stopped mid step. What happened to all your courage? a part of her said but then another part answered She isn't a Gryff! She's a Slytherin! Cass shook her head to get rid of the opposing voices and stepped on the platform once again, she was already here, why bother turning back?
"Excuse me, has the Slytherin head of house and the DADA teacher arrived yet?"

So she HAD attended Hogwarts as a child then. Sage managed a smile back at the woman who introduced herself as Sylvie-Renée Welton. The name wasn't familiar to him but as he glanced at her, her face was vaguely familiar. Perhaps they'd been students at the same time.. it seemed a large majority of the staff had been.
Well, except poor Professor Vindictus who'd taught some of them.
"Nice to meet you.. I'm Sage Dodson," he introduced himself in return, sloshing gravy on his potatoes and not being one for small talk.. quickly stuffing some in his mouth.

The staff table seemed popular with the students right about now. Would they ever get to eat their dinner peacefully!? Especially poor Lilyan. What was with the children always needing the Healer during the feast?
Lowering his fork, Sage tilted his head in the direction of a young girl who'd just approached. She wanted the Slytherin Head of House? Poor kid. "They have both indeed arrived," the Herbology Professor told her, glancing first at the Headmaster and then down the table at Professor Lafay. "And I'm sure they'd be happy to have you visit their offices tomorrow when term starts if there's anything you need to discuss."
Tate looked like he just wanted to eat. And Hecate..? Yeah, it was best not to interrupt her sometimes.

...besides, he had other lovely people to talk to at the moment. Like the two ladies on either side of him. Well, wasn't he lucky? Though, neither of the two seemed very pleased to see him, nor keen on talking to him. Was that hostility he could feel in the air? However, more to each other than to him. Or so he hoped.
First turning to the black-haired woman to his right he grinned at her once again - even though, he HAD noticed she was not - and took her offered hand to give it a soft shake. "Nice to meet you, Kimber. Librarian, really? That's great." And it was...because, library obviously meant lots of books. But, he couldn't dwell on that any further because he didn't want the other woman to think he was ignoring her.
It seemed as though dealing with the Potion's Mistress had brought Kimber to life a little. She returned Professor Zookara's smile as he shook her hand and nodded gently. She hadn't expected anyone to be so impressed with her new title but it was certainly a pleasant surprise. "I'm glad you think so," she said. "Great literature does leave its impression on us. I hope the children will appreciate our collection as much as I have."

At first, Kimber didn't lower her eyes an inch. Then she saw the snarky look on the professor's face and knew they'd reached an understanding. 'So, she was getting smart. AWESOME!' she thought, returning the look. 'This chick was going to be fun.'
"Wonderful then. I'll see you soon," she said, raising an eyebrow. And as an afterthought, "And please... call me Kimber."

Jake, who was trying SUPER hard to keep a straight face, ducked down behind Lexi. He was getting glaaaaaaaaaaaared at by some people, or so he thought. But the more he DID think, the more he realised that adults came to speak to students at their tables, so what was the difference.
Peeking over Lexi's shoulder, Jake caught sight of the Healer and snorted loudly in laughter, sounding like a widdle piglet. She was looooooking at hiiiiiiim.

At least SHE had a reason for her giggling.
"I dddidn't happen upon it," Jake responded proudly. Yeah 'it' as in singular... as in only one phial of Elixir to Induce Euphoria and he was sticking with that. "I bought it fffrom... Slug... Slug and J-j-jiggers!"
Jake couldn't control it. He simply burst out laughing. The name of the shop was sooooo funny. "It's... gonna... keep... me... happy... all... yearraaaahahahaha!"
OH! And before he could forget, the boy's face suddenly went serious, and he peered at the Healer over Lexi's shoulder again. "Have you heard?"

Dodson? Yes, the name sounded familiar familiar to her. Setting her fork down, Sylvie smiled and offered a slight nod. "Nice to meet you too, Sage." He did look familiar as well, she would have to owl her brother and see just who he remembered from their time there. Names and face, yes she needed to work on that.
Picking her fork up again, she speared a potato and dug back in before a student or two arrived. The strange feeling that she was being stared at was still there, but then again she was sitting up there and everyone could see her. Leaning forward slightly, she glanced to her left and caught sight of someone. That was were the funny feeling was coming from. She had felt him looking at her before. Raising a her free hand, she gave a small wave.

Wait...was that a flush on the Peppermint!Woman's cheeks? No, it couldn't be. His eyes must be deceiving him. There was absolutely no need for her to blush after all. So, she couldn't have been blushing. Though, she didn't seem to be too enthusiastic about the fact that they were both on staff at Hogwarts. Weird.
Letting his eyes rest on her for just a moment longer after she had turned her attention to the food, Jeremy shrugged to himself barely noticably. He was going to catch her later, after the feast. It wouldn't look too good if he got up now to walk to the veeeerry other end of the Staff Table after all. It would look rather strange. So, afterwards it would be.

Reaching across the table to take the bowl with the potatoes Jeremy directed a smile at Hecate and nodded softly. "Well, Hecate it is then." Uh-oh. Had she just said Potions? So, it was probably good not to get in her bad books. There were a lot of subtle way for her to get her revenge. So, be nice, Jeremy. Though, wasn't he always?
"So, are you new to the Staff too, Hecate?" He asked while shoving various potatoes onto his plate, smiling at the Potions Mistress. Somehow he was tempted to ask her about Anxious!Guy though he did have some sense in him not to. That would probably ruin his plans of trying not to make her hate him. Very likely.

Oooooh, was that a smile? A genuine smile on Kimber's lips? He was pretty sure it was. "That's better." Jeremy muttered under his breath with a slightly teasing grin, obviously referring to her smile.
"Oh, it does, it really does." He liked her already. Mental note to visiti the Library as soon as possible. "Well, I have to admit I haven't seen the Library yet. I haven't had time, unfortunately."
