Surely there was nothing in the world better than impromptu dancing in a hallway with a pretty boy? No. Well maybe a magic carpet ride.... That had been pretty romantic.

If he didn't get the go ahead for dancing by the grins and giggles and HAPPY vibrating off of her, he was dumber than Neptune sometimes thought. Oh but then he wanted to hear her talk and tell stories? Duncan Fletcher was turning out to be a near perfect boy. Who knew such a thing existed???
"Well... let's see... I was pretty happy the time I beat Libby onto the cover of Teen Witch. She has awful red hair and freckles, I have no idea what made her think she could beat me out for that, but she DID think that." Neptune paused to SCOFF, "But I was on the cover." She freed her hands from his person, letting him keep them close, and showed him the exact pose she'd struck on the cover. "Did you see that one? It was worldwide, I'm sure you did. That was a few years ago now, though," Neptune sighed. She hadn't been on a magazine cover that was worth anything in AGES. At the time though, Neptune Bott had been the center of attention, the star of the show, and giggling and grinning to teen witches and wizards WORLDWIDE.

Would she just stop giggling?! Fletcher's hands were twitching to cover his ears from the bubbly, girly little sound. It wasn't that Neptune had a bad laugh, it was just that giggles were at the top of his list of Hated Things. Right up there with glitter and the color pink.
But, but, the boy was more stubborn than an immovable boulder. He HAD to prove that he was SO MUCH BETTER than Kellen Stern. HAD TO. It was a matter of pride.... and because he might have cared a tiny little bit what Awesome Bott thought of him. And the giggles were one step getting her closer to hiccups, because he knew a lot of people started hiccuping when they sucked in too much air as they laughed.
"Oh.... oh oh?" Fletcher was genuinely surprised Neptune had been on the cover of (what he was guessing) was an important wizarding magazine. Never mind that he had never heard of the thing nor even seen her issue. He had lived almost completely in the Muggle world for the majority of his life, after all.
He grinned at her little pose and took a step back, rubbing at his chin as if critiquing the shot. "Beautiful. I'm sure you were stunning on the cover." Wink. "Any chance I could get an autographed copy, by the way? Along with those beans?"
OOOH he could get quite a few galleons for selling a pair of signed items like that.

Really, he was getting better... and better... She sighed at him. DREAMY sighed at him.
For his efforts, Neptune just HAD to reward him.
So she faked a hiccup. HICCUP!

Fletcher was getting worried here. Neptune hadn't said anything for like.... five whole minutes. Wasn't that a record for girls? Any girls? A girl? A female? FOR A BOTT?!!
His eyes widened as she seemed to stare at him with her bright, glassy blue eyes and a far off look on her face. Oookay? Was there something on his face now? He was about to reach out and shake her when she MADE A NOISE.
A NOISE he REALLY REALLY wanted to hear right now!
"AHA!" Fletcher crowed, fist-pumping the air with a wicked grin. "Are you sure? Are you reallllly really hiccuping?!"
He needed to hear it again just to make sure he wasn't hearing things.

Hahaha YESSSSSSS even Neptune was impressed by Fletch. He had skillz, man, mad skillz. RESPECT. *peace sign kissy face*
Fletcher almost forgot he was spinny!hugging Neptune and when he realized he was, he quickly put her down. Gently, gently. "Awww shucks," he pretended to be humbled and scuffed the floor with his shoe, looking up at her from under his straight, shiny hair. "Will you be cheering for me, then? Pleease?"
He made a cute lil puppy dawg face with big eyes and all. And then she hiccuped. OH. Oh yeah. Had to cure those too. Fletcher and a hand through the aforementioned, awesome hair and puffed out his cheeks.
"I didn't even think it would actually work.... huh.... guess that means I have to cure them, then....????"

He could have really used that handkerchief the other day when he had food all over himself. But that's another story.
"That's nice to hear," he added cheerfully. "SOMEONE won't be rooting for Raiden. You may be the only one."
He stuck his hands in his pockets and rocked a bit on the spot. The cure. For hiccups. Right right right riiiiiight. Fletcher didn't miss that stare.
"I have a plan," he stated happily. "I haaave a plan! So.... we need to dance again." He nodded and stepped forward, offering his hand to Neptune. "Madame, may I?"

The hiccups were encouraging, oh yes they were. If Fletcher couldn't cure Neptune's hiccups, at least he could always brag that he had given her them.
"Yes, Princess, you can't dance without music." He winked and took her hand, other hand on her slender waist. Fletcher started humming again, albeit a darker song this time... Moonlight Sonata. He had always like the deep chords in that one.
They started moving to the music, to and fro, up and down. Fletcher was trying not to say anything to see what Neptune would do.
BECAUSE HE DID HAVE A PLAN. He did. It just took a minute to get to.

But whatever. Girls were prone to these types of declarations, he had come to notice. "Interesting observation," he said instead, even putting on a fake!smile for Neptune.
As they danced, Fletcher deftly twirled Neptune down the hallway. Then it came time for the remedy to her hiccups. He twirled them to the left and then suddenly pulled Neptune back and dipped down, down down down, in a deep lean the way the men in the Muggle movies always did.
And then he just held her there with one arm, grinning to himself.

Did Hufflepuffs even know what interesting was? Not to be mean or anything, but it was a serious sort of question, that Ravenclaw minds needed answers to.

Mhmmm Fletcher was smoother than a slip n slide. And he knew it too, just from the size of Neptune's giant baby blue eyes. The boy was grinning, naturally, and may have winked at the Ravenclaw too after she spoke at last.
Let's just ignore the Duncan-dropping bit, eh?
"I can think of a few ways," he hinted, rubbing at his chin like he had an invisible Jafar-like goatee. "But I'll leave it to you. It was all my pleasure."
He bowed once more and clasped his hands together in such a humble gesture. "Until we meet again, m'lady. You know how to find me."
And then stood leaned up properly and smoothly spun on his heel, heading off down the corridor without a backward glance. Ta daaaa! He was so awesome. However would his head fit in this hallway.

Who knew romance was SO exhaustive? Neptune watched Mr. Fletcher, Hogwarts Champion, strut away down the hall. Allllllll the way. She was sort of waiting for that backward glance.
The one Jim was never quite able to resist.
But come it did not. It sort of negated the hand kiss and only left Duncan with points for the Eskimo kisses. She shrugged and wandered back to her Common Room, indeed feeling better than she had before. | |

Tehe.. since this was Adelyn and Anna's last year at hogwarts, they needed to do something to be remembered. They both pretty much have no friends, but that doesnt matter. Adelyn stalked up and down the hallway, waiting for her cousin to show up just like she said she would. She was dressed in every accesorie she brought to hogwarts that had to do with SLytherin.
