But she stayed. Stayed put in her seat, and closed her eyes tight, clinging tighter around her teddy bear, digging her nails into it, possibly breaking through into the stuffing. Oh. As Sarah came and sat next to her, Lori cried some more, turning to her side so she could lean on Sarah instead of hug her. She couldn't do to Sarah what she was doing to the poor teddy bear, and therefore thought it better to squish!squish him. "Y... Break. Sure.... After the... thing..?" The thing? Oh. Lorelai. Biting at her inner lip, Lori rubbed at her eyes. She didn't know what the 'thing' was, but she was sure there was something they had to do before, anyway. Preparation, Lori would use it as. Preparation for looking at this present. Mmm. Fine. Erk. Slowly releasing her teddy bear with one hand, Lori took Sarah's hand, and pushed herself up, so she stood properly. She didn't want her shoes anymore. They could stay here. They were broken anyway. She didn't mind excessively. She had enough matching pairs of them. "Okay...." Yes. Let's go. On some sort of bloody treasure hunt. |

"Not particularly." She said as she stretched out onto the couch, practically pushing Matty off. "It's hard work and I don't really like to work. I'm a bit lazy like that." She had been working for as long as she could remember and as far as she was concerned it was time for a break. Mia placed her hands behind her head. "What about you? Ever had to work for your keep?" |
*Matty frowned as she slowly pushed him off the couch. Giving her a fake sad frown he nodded.* "Even though I don't really have to work for anything my uncle still makes me. He says that the elves can't clean up after me and I have to cook my own food two times a week. I also have chores that take ages at my place." |
Just as she thought. Matthias was one of these rich people who had elves and he no doubt lived in some big mansion. Mia brought her legs back up and tucked them underneath her, giving him somewhere to sit. "Yeah but it's a lot different to getting up at the crack of dawn to go fruit picking. Spending all day out in the weather or ploughing fields by hand." Then there was feeding the animals and milking the cows, making their own cheese and butter. The list goes on but she saw no point in boring Matty with all of that, it wasn't his fault that he had it easier. "So what kind of things do you cook for yourself?" |
"Oh trust me, I have to get up early too. But I go work out with my uncle. A lot of good it does for me but it's a bonding thing." *Matty sat back down and turned a little red looking down.* "I can make sandwiches, and toast... I'm not that good." occ: brb in 10mins. |
"You must hate it when you have to cook then." Mia laughed as she pictured Matty in a huge kitchen with everything at his fingertips and all he could manage to make was a sandwich. "I'm not very good at cooking either. I seem to take after my mother in that regard." She figured it was because they were both dreamers and their minds tended to wander off when they had to do menial tasks. She shrugged her shoulders, "Eh I figure I'll just marry some rich dude and then I won't have to worry about all that." She tipped him a wink to let him know that she was joking. Mia had no intentions of getting married for a very long time. |
"Good luck on that adventure. Good thing your a witch. It does make things a bit easier." *Matty said with a smile then raised an eyebrow.* "Your giving me that 'look it's a rich boy' look. I hope you know that I'm not." |
"Oh really?" Mia said as she looked down at the shoes on her feet courtesy of Matty. "I don't think you're fooling anyone there Matty, least of all me." She gave him a smile and reached over to ruffle his hair. "I don't care how much money you got. So long as we're friends and you keep being nice to me, then it's all good." |
*Matty just shrugged and laughed a little.* "I'm just lucky my uncle took me in. It's just his job, he can't help being k-... who he is at work." *Matty rubbed the back of his neck then stood up. Looking over at the piano he walked over to it and looked down at the keys.* |
Mia watched as Matty went over to the piano and she flipped over onto her stomach and rested her chin on the arm of the couch. "Do you play?" Sometimes Mia wished she could play an instrument but like with everything else she was too lazy to learn. |
*Matty shrugged and his fingers started flowing over the keys playing Clair de Lune.* "A little... I've spent most of my time alone so I taught myself..." *He smiled a little still playing.* "I told you that you don't know everything about me..." |
Rolling off the couch, Mia walked over to the piano and rested her elbows on the top while she listened to Matthias play. "Well you're the one who is not forthcoming with the information." She giggled softly as she traced her finger over the top of the piano but immediately stopped when she realised what she had been writing. "You sound sad when you mention how much time you spend on your own. Sometimes I would give anything to have time on my own." She pushed off the piano and walked around the room looking at the books on the shelves and really got a sense of loneliness. Turning on her heel, Mia faced him with a smile. "You reckon your uncle would let you come and visit me over the summer?" |
*Looking over he raised an eyebrow.* "What did you write...?" *Matty just shrugged again.* "I've always been alone... It's a very welcome change to have friends." *At he question he stopped playing.* "Huh? Are you sure?" *Matty knew his uncle would be more then okay with it but he wasn't to sure. She was a girl and he was a boy, how would that look.* |
There was no way she was going to tell him the name that she had been absentmindedly tracing on the piano. It had been a bit of shock when she had realised what she had been doing. Glad for the change of subject, Mia nodded her head enthusiastically. "Of course I'm sure. I wouldn't have asked otherwise. And believe me you won't ever feel alone." No there would be about fifty people there to annoy the crap out of him. Just like they did her. And it would be nice to have someone there that was the same as she was. Even though her father was a wizard, he didn't like to talk about it much. "Just be prepared to be put to work." |
"Sounds better then what my uncle had planned. He wanted me to go to boot camp with S.A.M." *Seeing that she was up for changing the subject he wouldn't help but mess with her.* "Your avoided my question though. What did you write?" *Matty crossed his arms and smiled.* |

"What on earth is S.A.M.?" She asked curiously, it sounded like a name but she figured it must stand for something. Mia was slightly caught off guard by his question and she quickly turned back to the bookshelf so that he wouldn't see her face turn red from embarrassment. Why couldn't he just let that go? "Nothing I was just doodling. It didn't mean anything." Because it didn't. She didn't know why she had even written it. |
"S.A.M? It stands for Swedish Army of Magic. My uncle kind of controls it. They've been inactive for ages but they are always on stand by." *Seeing her turn Matty stood up and went to stand by her but stopped.* "Well good, if it's nothing then you can tell me." *He didn't understand what the big deal was. It wasn't like he would laugh or tell anyone.* |
Ah she knew it would have stood for something. Mia didn't know they had armies in the magical world but then again there was a lot she didn't know. When he spoke again from behind her, Mia turned around to face him and she gave him a smile even if it was a little nervous one. "I told you it was nothing." She really was a terrible liar and she could not even think up some story to tell him. "Why do you need to know so badly anyway?" |
*Matty just shrugged and looked down putting his hands in his pocket. Why did he want to know so badly? It must be because she was trying so hard not to tell him.* "I guess I don't. The fact that you wont tell me, even though it's nothing, has me wondering." |
She bit on her lip. She hadn't meant to snap but she was feeling very confused at the moment. Mia ran her hand through her hair and sighed, "I'm sorry okay. It's kinda embarrassing." Actually it was very embarrassing. "And I don't know what it means myself right now. When I figure it out then I will tell you, okay?" Hadn't she promised herself that she wasn't going to put herself through this. |
*Matty looked at her with a raised eyebrow but shrugged it off and held a hand out to her with a small smile.* "Promise? I'm the one always embarrassed and you know why. It's a nice change but I'd still like to know whats bothering you." |
Mia reached out and took his hand and laced her fingers with his, giving him a gentle squeeze. "I promise to tell you...soon." That's all she could do really. She had yet to work out this craziness that was going on inside of her. "Now let's talk about something else, shall we?" |
*Matty smiled and nodded trying to make her get back to her old self.* "Well if I'd be visiting you over the holidays would you want to visit my home?" *He knew that he should ask his uncle first but he knew that they could both trust Mia. Well he hoped, Matty still hadn't told her the whole truth yet.* |
A huge smile spread across her face and nodded her head. "I would like that a lot." Her parents would be cool about. They were good like that. "But I think you better check with your uncle first. Seeing how he had plans to send you off to that boot camp thing." |
