But it sounded rather strange in the start. I guess having to get used to a 'prefix' is something most new teachers go through."

Smaaaall smiiile.

"So Sylvie... what did you do before you accepted a position at Hogwarts? If you wish to discuss it, of course," Di added quickly. Ughughugh, she had done it again. Small talk. She was terrible at making small talk, she knew that. Why had she even tried?

Sylvie nodded and smiled. Yes, it would surely get some taking used to, but she was slowly getting accustom to it now. "Yes, I'm sure it is. Teaching is rather new to me, well at this level and all and the 'prefix' a change for sure," she smiled. Maybe things were just more laid-back when she was leading those small lesson, but then again museum lessons weren't truly lesson, now were they?

"Well Di, it sounds rather boring,"Sylvie shrugged. "I was a historian for the Louvre and before that I interned with the French Ministry. How about you, you mentioned you have taught before?"

"The main change for me is that Hogwarts is pretty huuuge," Di grinned. Huge? Mega huge! The former school had been big, but nothing like this. Di had almost forgotten how many corridors and hidden nooks and crannies this castle encompassed.

"Louvre?" Di frooowned. Louvre. Aha! She had it! "Isn't that the place that houses that famous muggle painting, the Mona Lisa?" Then... "It sounds pretty interesting actually." Because having studied archaeology for all those years ensured that Di found the mention of a graaaand museum interesting. "You're French, then?"

"I've juggled a few things," Di admitted. "I served Gringotts as a curse-breaker, until I took it in my head to travel. But yes, I've taught before. Local magical institution. Divination, runes, that kind of thing."

Speaking of France, that was the Beauxbatons Headmistress, yes? Di glanced at her, before looking back at Sylvie.

Chocolate.

Di could do with a bit of that.

"Hogwarts has always been huge. I mean when I was a student it was very intimidating. I mean even more than ten years later, it's still a bit intimidating," Sylvie laughed. Just being back was a bit intimidating, but she wouldn't want to be anywhere else at the moment.

Sylvie nodded and smiled. "Yes that would be it, you would be surprised at the wizarding paintings that one would find in the place," she nodded. "It's all about looking for things that other's wouldn't notice." Oh all the little wonders she found during her time there. "My mother's family is French, but my father is actually Australian."

Noticing Di's eyes glancing behind her, she looked as well. Headmistress Enzo. She wondered when she would see her again. She had wanted to tell her something, but she did tell the students she wouldn't. But that didn't mean, she wouldn't keep her eye on them and tell their headmasters if they did continue to misbehave.

Looking back, Sylvie smiled. "You know i hardly know anything about any of the other professors here, isn't that terrible?" She did feel a bit bad about it, but she wasn't completely forthcoming about any thing about her. yet, it wasn't like anyone asked either.

Di smiled. "It makes me want to explore, to be honest," she said. Too bad she couldn't sneak out of bed at night. Okay, she could but the fear, the thrill, all that... nil, zilch, because she wasn't a student.

"I haven't been to France for a while," Di said, rather thoughtfully. Perhaps this summer? She could do with a break, after all. Something to take her mind off... other, [much] less pleasant things. "I'll pay a visit to Louvre next time I do happen to go there, I think." She smiled slightly.

Mixed heritage! "Nice," Di said. "My parents..." Pause. "Both my parents are Russian." Not.

"I admit I don't know much about them myself," Di confessed. Fina, she knew. Other than that? Pretty much no one. "I hope I can get to know them better, but I expect it will take some time."

Sylvie smiled. "I did always like to explore when I was a student. I mean, you would think we could explore more as we have the time now, but I have yet to get around to it," she shrugged. They definitely had to remedy that now, didn't they? Exploring would just have to go on her to-do list.

"Oh, it's rather beautiful in the winter. I did love living in Paris, but I must say I really do love being back on this side of the channel." France and Paris had their appeal, but being back on home soil set her at ease a bit. She really had been away for too long. "I'm sure you will enjoy it. Beautiful place, especially on a quiet afternoon." she added with a smile as she thought about all the times she would just wander about on those slow afternoons.

Russian...."I've been to Russia once, of course it was a very quick visit as we were backpacking and all." Which that reminded her, she did need to visit again. "Well, mum is actually French-American and I think might have so French in him as well." To be honest, she really wasn't all to sure now about her parent's complete heritage, but she did have an idea at least.

Sylvie again glanced over at her other colleagues and nodded. "I meet Sage at the feast and I know I went to school with a few people, but I'm not completely familiar with everyone." Faces and names, she still needed to really work on that as well. "I do really hope to get to know everyone better as well. I'm sure it would take some time, but I think it can be done." Now finding the time to meet everyone was just going to be an issue.

Glad both women apparently approved of him joining them, Jeremy gave both of them his trademark grin. "Why thank you, I'd love to." Pulling out a vacant chair, he plopped down in it before starting to pick on his tie. It was waaaay too tight for his liking.

Happy that at least someone she liked was at her table, Madam Donovan straightened her posture and tried to care about the festivities.

An amused smirk on his lips, Jeremy turned to cock an eyebrow at Kimber questioningly. "Who's he again?" He whispered, leaning towards her slightly, so the person in question wouldn't overhear, while inclining his head towards the man (Max) barely noticably. Maybe some day he would know who was a fellow staff member and who wasn't.

She flinched noticeably at the LOUD cheering that erupted a few seats down and glared openly at the man at fault. Honestly! She'd not come here for a migraine.

She leaned in to hear Jeremy's question and gave him an obviously irritated look before shrugging her shoulders. "I guess he's a fan of Miles," she said, shaking her head, lips pressed tightly together. Then she gave Jeremy a humorless grin and added, "Whoever in the world that is." Wow! She needed coffee.

Headmistress Enzo 09-20-2010 09:33 PM

Enzo put her chocolate croissant down long enough to give a respectable clap as Brielle Lambert's wand preformed beautifully. Only Jermaine's wand to be checked now out of her four students. She didn't doubt though that his would preform well, like the others.

Until then, back to the lovely pastry.

Mmmm.

Luna Laufghudd 09-20-2010 11:27 PM

Hm.

Maya grimaced slightly. The apple core had missed its target...and landed by rather a handsome man's foot. Rawr. When she saw the photographer look for the attacker, Maya turned towards the Groundskeeper and gave him a flat smile.

Only one more student to go? Psshhh. Finally.
"I'm going to get another fruit, and then make sure the student reporters don't do anything weird." Yeah. "Have fun with your wall." With a smirk now, she turned towards the food table, got herself a plate with some pineapple, cherries and...her favorite - avocado. See those seeds were great to use aswell.

And now, off towards the press area.
Where had those twitchy kids run off to?

Jeremy was just about to ask who 'Miles' was when Kimber admitted that she had absolutely no clue either. Oh, weren't they just an awesome pair? Knowing so much about their students. Snort. "Well, I guess we'll know at the first task then." They WERE going to announce who was who then right? Still, how they were going to figure out who Miles' fan was he had no idea.

Were they finally finished with the wand weighing? Apparently so, as all of a sudden everybody starting moving towards the Press Conference. Were they supposed to be there too? Though, apart from moral support for the Champions he couldn't think of a reason for them to be there. "Should be go too?" He wondered out loud, the wish that Kimber would say 'no' quite obvious in his voice.

Besides, they had mangos here...

"Mhmm..." She said and rolled her eyes. She liked that some students were scared of her. It kept them on their toes...
