quill Press Conference

Another part of the Ceremony is where various journalists and photographers will be conversing with the champions from each of the three schools and getting to know them. This is where the Press will be meeting with the champions and asking them questions, or snapping photos, for use in their respective publications.

Please note that only the selected representatives from the Quill and DP are authorized to post here. Additionally, judges, staff, wandmaker and champions also can post here.

The Slytherin prefect shifted on the spot, almost a bit uncomfortably, as a few people started asking questions to all the champions. He was far from eloquent, and this situation was just... not ideal in the least. He kinda didn't want to be there just then. Maybe he'd go back and bother the wand lady some more...

"'ve been better," he murmured quietly to Miles, before looking at Fia. She was the first to call out a question, huh? Looking from person to person as other champions offered their answers, he waited for a pause and spoke.

"Dunno if you'd call it 'inspiration', really. I put my name in for... well for the excitement of it. The adrenaline rush, I guess." Terrible idea, that had been. Fracking dragons. And others had better reasons for it. School pride and bringing honour to them and all of that. Raiden almost felt selfish until he actually realised what Fletcher had said.

...why was that lady standing on a chair?

Oh Merlin. That question. The parent question. That was... well.

"My father is... uhm... not very excited about it," he volunteered to her, biting his lip to try and fend off the sheepish grin. "When I wrote to him to tell him, he wrote back and... well he said a fair few things that I don't think the newspaper would be allowed to print."

Pause.

"My mum doesn't know about it at all."

In retrospect, that was probably not the best idea, keeping it from her. But she was in Korea... surely she wouldn't hear news of it? How far would word of this tournament spread?

Default Egypt and everyone who still needs photographs done ;o)

Grinning at Egypt, she nods "Yes, I've managed to get Raiden and Duncan so far." Looking around at the champions as they filed in one by one, she notices Miles standing nearby. "I think a group photo would be good, as well as groups of each school."

Hopefully, this time they'd not have such problems with some of them...she thought silently. Her eyes going toward Miles again as she shakes her head.

Fingers entwined behind her back, her eyes flicked to each champion as they gave a response. Each answer she agreed with.......except the last bit from Fletcher. A simple eyebrow arch was all he got from her. She was defiantly not in this for the money.

"To represent my school," She stated simply in agreement with most of the others. "And because I like a challenge. Vhat greater challenge is there at this age than the Tvi-vizard Tournament?" None that she could find. And she had looked.

A smirk threatened to spread on her face, but was quickly halted when the next question was asked.

Her hazel eyes glided up to the woman in the chair. "My parents knov nothing of my entering." Her expression was indifferent as she looked at the woman, part of her curious as to why she would care about her parents opinions. "Even if they did, they vouldn't vorry. They knov I'm capable of handling myself in the competition."

Even if they had worried, which would have shocked her, it would not have stopped the young woman from entering. Eyes flickering to the camera woman, wondering which picture she wanted to take first.

With her wand weighed, and deemed Perfect, Brielle made her way into the Press Conference area.

Talking a spot amongst the other Champions, the girl check herself out one last time, Perfect as Usual, she thought. This was her time to shine.

Her smile framing her face to both of the girls, she nods encouragingly as they answer Egypt's questions. Moving back over to her camera she adjusts it, getting it ready for more pictures.

"How would you two like to pose for your pictures?" she asks gently, not prodding them, at all. "We can get them any way that you'd prefer."

Kneeling down, with her robes showing the gentle curves of her growing belly, she pulls out her clipboard, and pen. Marking that she'd already done Raiden and Duncan, and the order they were in on the film, she stands back up. Looking over at the girls, she waits their decisions.

Finally! It was question time. "Naturally, the honor of my school was more than enough motivation." Monique said with a charming smile. "This is an exciting opportunity and I simply jumped at the chance."

Plus, she heard rumors that the boys at Hogwarts were cute. But you know, that wasn't her main reason to join.

She then looked over to Brielle who was currently being asked to be in pictures, along with the Durmstrang girl. Hopefully they weren't planning on snapping the two of them together. Just in case, Monique side-stepped toward Jermaine. They looked great in pictures together. She was not about to be stuck in a picture with someone who didn't deserve to be seen with her.

Fletcher just noticed Miles looking at him strangely and nodded his way, flashing him a thumb's up as he did so. 'She's HOT,' he mouthed, nudging his head in Fia's direction, since he OBVIOUSLY had no clue the two were a couple.

Though... that still wouldn't have prevented him from mentioning that fact. Heh.

His attention was quickly taken by the next reporter, however, who had to stand on a chair and lean on a man's head to get their attention. Fletcher sniggered to himself as the sight but stopped laughing abruptly at her question.

"Parents... what parents," he muttered darkly to himself. "Mine don't care. I wrote them each a letter but I guess me dad's proud and me mum.... probably worried, if she even understands the whole thing." He shrugged it off. "They really won't miss me if the Tournament takes a turn for the worst anyway."

He wasn't looking for a pity party, he was just being honest. And rather quieter than usual, now that he had said that. Fletcher edged away from the crowd of reporters and champions to go get a cup of water.

Cedric smiled meekly at the ones who greeted him, and spared a more confident smile at the Quill girl. Just when he was about to talk more with the DP people and response to the girl who must be a Quill writer, the champions had subsequently arrived, perfectly indicating that the conference was about to start. Well, he was sure there would be more time to converse with them, and he shouldn't let that chance to just slip by. Daily Prophet is a famed newspaper. Worldwide. The DP people sure had some tips to share with aspiring writers and photographers.

Regarding the champions one by one, he soon caught a glimpse of Danika and a topsy-turvy feeling like stage fright churned his stomach as she gave him a broad smile. And so he returned her smile with a grin, beaming at her jovially.

Without any questions in mind yet, he reasoned to take pictures first.

Click. Click. Click.

So far so good. Good angles, really good shots. The champions were downright photogenic. The camera surely loves them. But, of course, doubtlessly, Danika was the most beautiful girl amongst the girl champions.

And now, to ask a question.

"So err, good day champions! You all are aware that Dark Magic, Dragons, Sphinxes, perilous obstacles are waiting along your way to be a Tri-Wizard Tournament champion, right?" That sounded more confirming than asking. "What do you think about that fact? The mere fact that from the moment the Goblet of Fire put out your name, you had a foot of yours stuck on a grave?"

Was that question kinda illegal or something? Hopefully not.

Keeping his rather lopsided grin, Cedric waited for the champions to answer. Well, that question probably wasn't enough not to befriend him, no?

She teetered in her heels again and her fingers wound around Nathan's hair to keep herself from tipping out of the chair. That would have been a shame, especially in the blue Prada jumper dress she was wearing.

It was amazing the faces they were making as she asked that question. It seemed that was the question ask.

The first person to answer her question was the Slytherin from Hogwarts. She stepped down from her chair and walked over to him. She nodded at the little Asian boy. Well he was taller than her anyways. "Does it give you pause as you enter this tournament knowing that your parents might not be rooting for you?" she asked softly. She didn't want to embarrass the boy.

She smiled and nodded at Kenzie, "Oh wonderful. Raiden is simply perfect with his complexion," she said. She always thought people of Asian descent were natural beauties.

She smiled at the Durmstrang girl. Children, she thought to herself. They could never understand a parent's worry till they were parents. "Why haven't you told them if they know you to be such a capable young witch?" she asked curiously.

She tried to cover over the giggle as the Beauxbatons student spoke up next. "I think we would all prefer if no one died." Though she could imagine Ian would salivate over the number of papers they would sell if someone did manage to get themselves killed. "Will they be attending some of the challenges?" she asked him.

She nodded. Wow, this girl could give Paris a run for her money in the self confident field, Egypt thought with a smile. "Well I am sure they are very proud of you and will be cheering for you. But do you feel your over confidence might be your downfall in the tournament. Pride always comes before a fall." she asked the girl. Overly confident people tended to rush into things without looking at the big picture and thinking the situation through to the end.

Her face clouded over as the Hufflepuff Hogwarts champion spoke up. She didn't like to hear of children being mistreated by anyone let alone their parents. She followed him over to the drink table away from the other champions. This was a child who needed a mother's hug. And Egypt was good at motherly hugs. "Well I care," she told him as she looked up at him. She reached out and pulled him into a tight hug. She patted him on the back, "And if they aren't proud of you I am. It took a lot of courage to put you name in that goblet." she whispered to him as she patted the small of his back. She could have hod to climb up his front to pat any higher than that. "And the world would be a dimmer place if your bright light extinguished." And that was true.

Seeing as another one was answering the questions as well, Kenzie smiles at her. "When you are ready, feel free to come over for your pictures as well."

Did Fletcher actually say 'like Danika said'?

That was...not to her liking. He could at least mastered the answer without her name being in it.

Another question. Yes, Zitnik said this was expected. The questions. The answers were voluntary.

The girl smiled at the woman, it was rather amusing to see her on the chair, but it was necessary, Danika wouldn't have noticed her. "Vell, my family is very excited avout it, they think it vould ve a nice, challenging experience" at least her brother did, her mother didn't approve...she thought it reckless. Her father will always be backing Danika up, so the only one that needed to be convinced about things was her mother.

And now Cedric.

Well, that was comforting. He sure knew how to get you in a cheer mood. Dark magic? Yes, the Durmstrang students won't have any issue with that. Danika couldn't help but eye Sandra at the thought.

"Cedric" she said, with a nod, "The fact that there vill ve any sort of ovstacles, or even Dark magic..." she dismissed the word as if it was the most normal thing to say, "...does not vorry me" and he shouldn't worry either.

"Avout the grave part, it is not the Govlet that vrings you closer to death, it is the decisions you make that do" and since they all make great decisions then they had no problem whatsoever.

Default LOL oh dear. Tommy, Ameh, Roro, and Staceh
sugary sweet Evil Pastry Lady

Miles looked at Fia and then back at the reporter lady. Oh great now he had to speak. Swallowing he took one hand out of his pocket and held it out to her. He cleared his throat and smiled, "Hi, nice to meet you." Now please don't ask me any more questions..

Looking at Raiden he pursed his lips feeling about the same way all while his eyes stared at Fletcher. "Dude better keep his eyes in his head," he muttered quietly to Raiden so that no one else heard. He was starting to dislike him greatly and simply stood there watching him.

Seeing Fletcher raise his thumb up and the words he mouthed his blood pressure shot up and he had to pinch his leg though his pocket lining just to stop himself from doing something stupid with all the reporters around. His eyes narrowing and his jaw clenching he mouthed the words, 'I know,' barely keeping his feet planted where he was next to Raiden. He wanted to go set the guy straight but he knew better and knew Fia would be mad at him if he caused a scene right here in front of everyone. Least he could focus on things other than answering questions however. Pulling his eyes from Fletcher he found Fia and winked at her with a small smirk. See he was being a good boy, he should get bonus points.

At last.

Listening to what she had to say, Brielle was unsure as whether or not she wanted her and 'Sandra' to be in the photo together...
"Do you want zingle zhots of uz, or would you be wanting uz together?"

Brielle would do if she had too.....but she would have preferred to work alone

Crossing her feet one over the other, Brielle began to answer the follow-up question,

Listening to the next question, that was directed at Monique, Brielle's eyes grew wide, she was sure that Mon, was not going to like that one.

Inspire? There was no inspiration whatsoever. Durmstrang always took a challenge, no matter how hard it was. There was a smirk on her face, "There is no greater inspiration than representing your school. Show the others the vest ve have." and possibly gain Zitnik's approval. Mostly the approval. And doing the best in the name of Durmstrang.

Oh, Master Zitnik where you at?
Ahh yes! A Durmstrang student! Fia wrote the name of the student, or began scribbling until the student hit words that made her stop and think about what exactly she was saying. Vest? Ve? That would be....Oh yes! best WE have! "Mmmhmmm," she said with a faint smile on her lips as she began understanding the girl.

Fia then stood back listening to Danika answer other questions answered, including Cedric's question. Great question! "And Danika, do you believe that you have made the right choices so far entering the tournament?" The girl took the bait and now it was time to get down to the nitty gritty. Fia turned her head towards Cedric and gave him a wink, letting him know that he was doing a great job!

"Well," he stated importantly, "like Danika said, we all hope to bring honor, glory, and the famed Triwizard Cup to our schools. But the tournament is more than that."

He paused for dramatic effect.

"It's about proving yourself as a wizard, and for me, as a man, because when I win the tournament, it will be obvious that my shot but thorough magical education has paid off. And," Fletcher added in a quieter tone, "I hear there's a great lump of galleons as a prize?"

Fia then turned towards a fellow Hufflepuff student, one that she did not know very well, but looked to be about her age. Her quill began writing down key words he spoke until, for some strange reason, the boy stopped talking. Her green eyes looked up from her parchment just at the time he began speaking again. Odd! Just odd!

She raised a brow as the boy seemed sure of himself. "And you are certainly positive at winning, I see,” she chimed in as she thought of another question.

He looked around and then swallowed as Fia asked a question for them all. Why id he put his name in...cause he was STUPID?! Or maybe insane...maybe that was it. He was insane and now he was regretting it. Instead he simply stood there with his hands in his pockets and looked around. His eyes turned to Fletcher as he spoke to Fia and his eyebrows drew down. He didn't really like how he was looking at Fia that was for sure.

Though... that still wouldn't have prevented him from mentioning that fact.

Fia couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows at the Hufflepuff who seemed to be trying to charm his way about the room. Well that was one thing that was NOT going to help against dragons. She rolled her eyes as she looked back to Miles, then gave a wink and moved towards the next student who answered her question since that one walked.

“You mean to tell me that you placed your name in the Goblet of Fire for an adrenaline rush?” She couldn’t believe her ears but then again she had to stay on topic. “Raiden, have they specifically told you what to expect throughout the tournament so far? If so, what are they?”

Fia wrote down what the Durmstrang student said then added, “Is there anything you would like to say to those students who might have a chance like this in their lifetime? Such as, what advise would you give them?”

Now where was that photographer....?
Fia smiled at Brielle as the wheels in her head were already liking the girl’s answer to her question. “No doubt that girls are a weaker sex,” she gave one stiff nod of her head to show she was agreeing. Fia decided to ask this student the same question as another. “Is there anything you would like to say to those students who might have a chance like this in their lifetime? "My parents were thrilled. But you know how parents are. They believe their little shining stars can do anything. It turns out that my parents are some of the few that are right. They raised a strong daughter. And I fully intend on making my family proud."

“Excuse me, Monique,” Fia stated as she moved towards the French student and smiled. “You say that your parents believe in your abilities and that you are strong enough to enter the tournament. From what you know so far, what traits stand out that will help you along the way?” Maybe she had a secret that others didn’t and Fia wanted to know what pushed the girl in believing she had what it took to be a champion.

If there was one thing, Fia wanted to get with Cedric after the small press thing they were at and maybe together the two of them could come up with things later on. She maneuvered her way towards the Hufflepuff student, winked and waited on those to answer her questions for another round.

"Do you want zingle zhots of uz, or would you be wanting uz together?"

Brielle would do if she had too.....but she would have preferred to work alone
Shaking her head, she smiles kindly, "No, not at all, we'll have individual shots. Though once everyone is ready, we'll have a large group photo as well as a photo of each school's champions."

"How would you like to pose, Miss Lambert?"

Fletcher about spit out the drink of water he had just taken when Cedric went straight to it with his questions. Merlin, kid, was there a need to be so morbid, especially this early in the morning?!

"Yeah I'm aware of that," he answered from his corner. "I think it's terrifying....ly awesome. A real challenge. I have SO much to look forward to."

And he had almost managed to keep the sarcasm out of his voice there.

Overly confident people tended to rush into things without looking at the big picture and thinking the situation through to the end.
Monique tossed her hair. "Oh, not at all." she said confidently. What was with everyone here thinking confidence was a bad thing? "I actually think that confidence is an important factor in the tournament. There will be no room for doubt. I trust myself and I trust in myself completely. So instead of it being downfall it will be the complete opposite. It will be what gets me through the tournament in one piece."

"I have studied hard and I have performed well. I have dedicated myself to becoming the best I can possibly be. And that is why I am here. My hard work has paid off. But that does not mean my learning and progress is over. It just gives me a reason to push myself further." And she believed this determination was what lead to her being selected not only to make the journey to Hogwarts, but to be choosen to be in the competition.

As another one of the girls came over, she smiles brightly at her. "Hello Miss Bernard. A few have picked the windows, it gives a nice background, if you'd like. Otherwise, feel free to pick your pose how you'd like it to be."

Smiling at the young lady, she nods encouragingly.

Standing up straight, he listened to the others chatter for a moment with eachother, picking up bits and pieces of their conversation as a serene smile stayed on his face, his eyes bouncing from one person to the other. Regardless of his calm outlook, he was just…so full of life!

Her notepad was flipped and ready while her quill was aimed towards the parchment, ready to begin writing whatever was said.
Picking up words about something directed to all the Champions however, Noel looked towards the woman who spoke, thinking about the question while others went ahead and answered first. Why did he enter the tournament? "It iz a great honor to be a part of ze tournament. She was a mother after all and she had been on pins and needles as she waited to hear if Diggy's name had come out of that goblet.
Aw yes, he was wondering if a question like this would be brought up.

"Ma mere…iz az supportive wiz my decisions like she always iz." Which she was. He had wrote home about it, and even though there may have been a few disagreements, she was happy that he was happy.

What parent wouldn’t support their child anyways?

ZOMG. CEDRIC. WHY.

Raiden stared at the Hufflepuff prefect, his eyes wide in surprise. Whyyyy would he ask such a question, or at least phrase it in such a way?! The Slytherin's face paled a shade, and it took him a moment to find his tongue to answer.

"You're-" His voice sounded funny; he coughed, clearing his throat before continuing. "You're looking at it all wrong. At least, that's not the way I see it. All the Champions are capable people... We're putting one foot forward, yeah, but into unfamiliar territory. Doesn't necessarily have to be a grave. There's gonna be challenges, but we knew that going in..."

He'd already had one foot in the grave. Didn't need to go back to that, thank you.

Well he was taller than her anyways. "Does it give you pause as you enter this tournament knowing that your parents might not be rooting for you?" she asked softly. She didn't want to embarrass the boy.
Ahhhhh. So that was why she'd been on the chair... the lady was small. Exceptionally small next to Raiden, who was rather tall. Heh. When she approached him, he turned his focus to her, listening intently to her question.

"'s not so much that he's not rooting for me, as he..." Hrrrrrm. "Well he wishes I wouldn't put myself in such situations. He thinks it's reckless self-endangerment. But I do think he supports me, now that I'm in it. He's just worried. I guess most every parent would be."

He didn't bother to mention his mum again. She didn't know, and if he had his way, she would continue to not know. It wasn't any of her business anyway.

"If he were here, he'd cheer for me. Probably between loudly swearing me out for being an idiot, but he'd cheer."

It was almost... funny? Cute? How Miles was reacting to Fletcher eyeing up Fia. Raiden grinned and put a hand on the guy's shoulder.

"Don't let him bug you, man. Fia is really pretty... so long as he doesn't try anything or look too hard, just ignore him." He glanced at Fia. "And she'd probably tell him off if he made a move anyway."

Speaking of Fia... Raiden turned his attention to her and immediately started feeling like the idiot his father currently thought he was.

"I... yeah. Kinda? It's a long story. I'm kinda making up for not having been able to do anything even remotely exciting as a kid." His ears turned red. "That, and I'm obviously not as intelligent as people think."

He'd put his name in a cup full of fire and gotten himself contracted into a Tournament that could potentially end with him dying.

"They've not really told us anything at all." Miles had told him 'dragons', but that didn't really count... seeing as it had been Miles, and not an official announcement for the tournament. "We're kinda going into this a bit blind right now... I dunno if they plan to tell us anything or not."

Could she hide in the corner? 'COURSE she could. It was fun here - not being harassed by the reporters she could just sort of observe everything. Yes. She twirled her wand between her hands. It wasn't that dirrty was it? Hmph. She genuinely liked her wand and she GENUINELY didn't really mind that it had finger prints. It was a WAND. It was meant to be used. Wasn't that the whole point?

Hmph. Now.. back to her hiding. Hopefully the reporters wouldn't see her..

Brielle liked this one; good questions, and a gorgeous face.

"I would zay, go for it! My perzonal motto 'az alwayz been, Je ne regrette Nien, Or I regret nothing, on Anglais" she smiled, "Zpeaking for myself, I could not 'ave lived through zis and not 'ave put my name in for conzideration. "Zome chancez only come along once in a lifetime, you just 'ave to ztick you 'ead out and decide your own deztiny!"

Who said this girl was an airhead!

"How would you like to pose, Miss Lambert?"
This is what she had been waiting for.

With dreams of Modelling and a Model for a mother, Brielle was a natural in front of the camera.

"Perhaps we zhould do a few 'ead shots, and zen zome full body?" she suggested, Brielle knew how to rock her angles.

Tilting her head to the side, she considered the boy in front of her with a slight frown. This one certainly had a negative outlook on the tournament, didn't he.

"I can assure you that I do not have a foot stuck in the grave, as you so kindly described my being chosen a champion." If she was one to scare easily, his words would have done it. As she was not, the girl just stood there with a polite expression, completely unfazed. "I am aware and excited about vhat avaits us at the tasks. If that's vhat you are asking." She was unsure.

"Why should I?" She asked quizzically, curiosity matching the woman's. The girl had never involved her parents in any decisions, why should she start now. "I am an adult. They no longer get an input on my life choices." Not that they had one when she wasn't an adult, but the woman did not need to know that, especially if it was to end up in the paper. "If my parents want to know what is going on in my life, all they have to do is ask." And that would never happen.

"Firstly, I vould advise them to enter there name in the cup. You only get chances like these once in your lifetime. Second, I vould say that there's no such thing as too much studying. Especially vhen the smallest bit of information can help you vin." Sandra wasn't one for giving out advice, but for a paper she would.

Kneeling down, with her robes showing the gentle curves of her growing belly, she pulls out her clipboard, and pen. Marking that she'd already done Raiden and Duncan, and the order they were in on the film, she stands back up. Looking over at the girls, she waits their decisions.
"I vould love to pose for pictures." Because she looked great on camera, not as great as in person though. She didn't even bother asking if they had to pose together. Why would they? They weren't in the same school and it was not a group photo. Plus she looked better alone, unless with a hot guy. Maybe she would stick one on her arm later.

Moving away from the rest of the group, she struck a pose for the woman. No need to check her hair or clothes. They always looked great. Just like her.
