I am part of the sun, as my eye is part of me.

You can see this inscribed, in small, silver letters, along the round knocker of the dark door - if you look closely. Step inside, and find that Davina Markovic's office is a circular chamber, carpeted and with a huge window - always thrown open - that offers a spectacular view of the grounds, and portions of the school's towers and turrets.

Inscribed on the window-sill that protrudes outwards - in small, silver letters that are only visible if you go up to the window, and peek outside - are the words: That I am part of the earth my feet know perfectly, and my blood is part of the sea.

To the left, is a tall bookshelf, elegant, clearly old, and greater in width, than in height. The books it encompasses are stacked in perfect order, by alphabet and then size. Next to this item of furniture is a beautiful mantelpiece - huge-sized runes scattered across most of it - that sports two goldfishes, in a goldfish-shaped bowl. Sometimes, the top of the mantelpiece catches the light that pours in from the window; and these words light up, inscribed in tiny letters along its curve:

There is not any part of me that is alone and absolute, except my mind.

The rest of the office space is taken up by a large desk, an antique piece that has more drawers-within-drawers, and compartments-within-compartment, than you - or Davina herself - can count. Behind it, is a high-backed, deep black chair; in front, two, smaller ones. Davina, seated behind the desk, can read the following words, stamped on the dark edge:

... and we shall find that the mind has no existence by itself -- it is only the glitter of the sun on the surfaces of the water.

She had only written the cover when she was 6, you couldn't blame her too much for the poor writing. "Professor, do you enjoy baking?" she asked as she began to write down the recipe.

Phew, there were a lot of ingredients in these cookies! Kurumi almost gasped when the professor said her first name rather than calling her Miss. Although, that did have a nice sound to it. Still, this was a professor she was talking to and she best remember her manners.

"I do," she smiled pausing for just a moment from her writing. "It is something I did with my mother ever since I was little. Probably the only thing that I did with her that I enjoyed," she said that last bit a little sader than she had intended. Her mother had been hard on her growing up - even more so since she hated all things magic. She returned to her note taking and started on the actual baking process. "Professor, may I ask why you took an interest in runes?"

Di didn't not catch the sad touch to Kurumi's tones, but she decided not to prod the matter. Not her place to. But she did say, tones gentle, "Mothers are amazing. I've come to realize that, most of the times, they're only trying to secure what they think is the best for their children."

What they think is the best, that can be a problem, though.

Runes? "I can't explain that, to be honest." Di smiled slightly. "I guess it appealed to me because it's such a gigantic and secretive field." She had known it was huge but, even so, she had found it much vaster than she had imagined when she had actually stepped into it. "I suppose I can say it's something I've always been good at... and it did lead me to some exciting times. I used to be a curse-breaker, before I started teaching."

Who would have thought their bubbly Runes professor was a curse breaker?! "Isn't that a very dangerous and serious profession? Did you live in Egypt when you were doing that?!" Didn't Arthimancy relate more to that profession than Runes? Then again, Kurumi had always thought that the two subjects were similar in terms of puzzle making and solving.

One has to be careful."

That sounded fascinating. Kurumi had never thought about the profession, but it seemed like something where everyday brought new challenges. Hmmm...perhaps she should consider it as a possible career.

I only learned that this whole wizarding world existed a few weeks before I came to Hogwarts," she admitted through blushing cheeks. "Before I learned I was a witch, I always thought about owning my own bakery...but that seems so simple now that I know what other possibilities there are." Auror, professor...she now had one more thing to add to the list.

It can be like the best of both worlds."

But of course, Kurumi still had plenty, plenty of time to figure things out. "So..." Di smiled again. "Enjoying being a witch?"

Enchanted by the Professor's beauty and grace, Eino had not properly introduced himself to her, but rather made a fool of himself, so he wanted to take the opportunity to introduce himself appropriately. He had had a long day, but now he was wearing his fresh and clean uniform, a little bit of cologne, and bearing gifts: a small velvet bag with a few puffapod seeds and box of sugar quills. He searched his bag for something to freshen his breath but all he could find were some green pastilles, which smelled like mint, so he ate two of them. After ten minutes trying to find enough courage, he knocked on her door lightly and waited for a response.

The way she sang him in was like a siren lulling him into a heavenly slumber. If beauty had a voice, that is exactly what it would sound like! Apprehensive, Eino took a deep breath to calm himself before he pushed the door open. The vision! She was the oasis amidst a vast desert, the philosopher’s stone to his elixir of life, the snitch he wanted to catch. There she sat the governess of his heart in all her glory and majesty, as he forcefully moved his unwilling body towards her. His heartbeat increased with each step he took, and as he approached her her beauty was amplified and his confidence reduced. Once only a small distance separated the two, Eino bend down on one knee and presented her with the gifts her had brought. “I brought these if it please you!” He didn’t know if that made sense, but he hoped so. Without making eye contact he began, “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day, thou art more lovely and more temperate… So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.” After reciting the entire sonnet of the famous Shakespeare, he remained on his knee impatiently waiting for a response.

Mr. Uronen? So Di had been right, something had certainly been troubling the child earlier. She gave him a small smile as he stepped in, though it turned into a look of faint puzzlement as he bent down on one knee.... and then he held out something, something that turned out to be sugar quills and stuff of that sort. That reminded her of Prefect Bristol - the seventh year had brought Di presents, too - but the fact that Mr. Uronen was on one knee made her smile.

"Thank you, Mr. Uronen," Di said cheerfully. "I don't see a reason for you to be on -"

She stopped as the boy began to recite some lovey-dovey jumble that made her hazel eyes blink.

Of course, considering how she saw him as a child, Di still did not realize what was going on in the Eino's mind. She looked confused for a second, quite sure this had to be another of those crazy assignments that her fellow professors could sometimes give students and, once the boy had finished, gave him an inquiring look.

"Is everything alright, Mr. Uronen?"

The Professor looked confused. "Everything is prefect so long as I am in your presence." He replied now gathering enough courage to take her hand and kiss it as he had seen hopeless romantics do on his muggle device: the light box. He hoped the kiss would clarify the purpose of this visit. He was so involved in the moment that he didn't even notice she had called him by his name; she knew who he was! "In that bag you will find some puffapod seeds," He explained still on his one knee "they will instantly flower once they touch soil. My heart was the soil and your beauty the seeds!" He couldn't find a more appropriate gift for this occasion, it was special because it told a story, their story, and this was only the beginning of it. "The box of sugar quills... Well, I like sugar quills and I thought you might too."

Di had raised an eyebrow at Eino's first statement, quite certain that this had to be another Shakespearean sonnet or such that she had never heard of. Then the boy kissed her hand, and she could have docked ten times ten points from Hufflepuff that very instant if he hadn't said a bunch of completely ODD things, right then.

"I think..." Di sounded a little angry but, more than that, quite amazed. Because this had to be a case of potion-gone-wrong. "I think you need the hospital wing, Mr. Uronen. Get up, boy, I'll take you there."

Right. Off to the hospital wing, then?

Right. This had to be a potion. Di grabbed the boy's hand and pulled him to his feet. "Let's get going then, Mr. Uronen," she said and, straightening up, she marched right out of the office, taking Eino with her.

To the hospital wing, of course. Healer Moretti should be able to fix the currently-disturbing kid.

SHE GRABBED HIS HAND!!! "Oh joyful day!" He exclaimed as he was dragged out of the office. Overwhelmed by the contact, he lacked any sense of direction, so he followed her lead. Her hand was so soft and her grip was so gentle (well, it hurt a bit but love isn't love if it doesn't hurt occasionally!!) that he felt like was being touched by an angel. She must be taking him to heaven, upon her wing, YES he had heard her mention a wing, it must be hers! This was not a representation of beauty! Not Aphrodite, not Cliodna, not Freya, not Arianrhod, but Davina, Beauty herself!

Rene approached the profeesors office door. She had worked all day on the professors gift. In her hand she held a little box with a beautiful bow.

Standing at the door she gave a slight knock and waited for an anwser from the proffie.

Josephina was probably crazy in sending this owl, yet she had to do it. To know if Di really was a friend or if she was just crazy. It was strange ... feeling this way about someone, like a tug at your heart when you just didn't know, but then another tug when they looked your way and smiled. It felt almost grand.

Nonetheless a small paper origami swan graced its way under the door to the office of Professor Markovic and flew one lap around the room before resting atop the desk. When prodded, it would unfold to read as follows:

Owl? It didn't surprise Di, but it did make her curious. She read it at once, not having much else to do [and not feeling like doing much else, to be honest] and once she had done so, gave an immediate reply that said yes, she'd love to meet Fina.

She had no idea what Fina had in mind, but a meeting sounded nice enough, no problem.
