Kurumi frowned a bit. Playing doctor with a teddy bear would have been so much fun! "First aid kits help us, erm, them cope with emergencies before they can head to a hospital...if that is needed," she paused for a moment remembering how her mother was very avid about keeping their's stocked at all times...despite her father being a wizard. Maybe they wouldn't have to keep up that charade anymore? "Some kits are designed for specific activities, such as hiking, camping, or boating...you never know when something could happen. So first aid kits help make them feel safe and calm because they are ready for almost anything." | Jeremy simply nodded when Kurumi explained the basic use of a first-aid kit but only commented on her last suggestions. "Yes, correct, Kurumi, well done." He smiled at her before turning around to write 'hiking, camping, boating' onto the board behind him with his chalk...yes, he was obviously doing things the Muggle way. Quote:

Aww no doctors and nurses?
Booooooo!!!
Mia raised her hand again, "A first aid kit is a good idea when you are going camping because you never know what can happen while you are out in the bush. They are good for minor injuries like cuts, burns and even sprains but they won't help against a snake bite."
Especially those big brown ones they have back home in Australia. | They seemed to be disappointed by the fact that they weren't going to be practicing on the teddy bear. Hmm...maybe he should use something else instead of the dummy he had prepared after all. If they were all so fixated on the teddy. "Correct, Mia, it can be very useful when going camping." Then she mentioned snake bites and that a first aid kit wasn't going to help with snake bites. "Do you happen to know what a Muggle is supposed to do when bit a snake?" He inquired with a smile. Maybe she did. Quote:

And seeing what the muggles did, their lives obviously were in danger allll the time. They made OTHER lives in danger with their poking and prodding duckter stuff and...muggle ways. Pffft. | Clever, very clever. "True, Evelyn but this is quite bulky, don't you think? It would be very exhausting to carry on you all the time. So, while you are right, it would be best if Muggles were to carry them with them all the time, they don't." Normally there was somebody around though who had some basic first-aid items on them. Somebody. Quote:

Eino opened and studied the items in the first-aid kit as the Professor had directed. Some of the items were familiar, and they all seemed practical and easy to use. Eino tried to think of places and occasions where people were most likely to injure themselves, so after raising his hand he shared them with the class. "The kitchen or any working station, like a workshop." Those were common places where sharp objects, such as knives, and fire would be used so in case of a cut or a burn first-aid kits would probably come in handy. | Jeremy nodded at the Ravenclaw's answer with an approving smile and turned to add them his suggestions to the list on the board. "Yes, correct. Well done. I'm sorry, what was your name again?" He asked upon turning back to face the class again. Quote:

One hand and brown eyes were on the case while the other hand had raised to answer the question. Mia had already said camping so... "Its good to have one in your car, in case something happens. Like getting into a accident." She rummaged through the kit, it didn't really have enough stuff to help in an accident though. "A bigger kit though. One made special for having in your car." | Finally somebody mentioned the cars. "Good thinking, Arya. It's an essential thing to have in a car in case you are involved in an accident or witness one. In some countries it is even compulsory to have one in one's car." Jeremy explained with a smile after adding it to the list. Quote:

Lexi opened her case and took a good look at the odd contents. Shaking her head she raised herhand and said, "Yeah. Since they can'tjust heal their injuries like we can I guess they would need one all the time, right. Like around the house, in their automobiley thingies, and maybe a small one on their person, right?" She was not sure what most of the stuff inside was even though she was half blood. Her parents would just whip out their wands or brew a potion when something happened to her. | Yes, not being able to heal themselves that easily was one of the disadvantages of being a Muggle. However, they also couldn't hurt each other in the way Wizards could. "Yes, absolutely correct, Lexi. It is very advisable to have at least basic first aid items around the house for any sort of household incidents." Like cutting oneself with a knife when preparing lunch. Quote:

First aid, huh? Vashti totally knew it. It was pretty obvious, of course. But they weren't practicing on the teddy bear? Who were they practicing on then? Themselves? Each other?
:shifty:
She raised her hand to offer an answer. "Some schools keep a first aid kit in their classrooms," she said. "Especially for little kids who can get hurt pretty easily. Though science labs in high schools and all often have a first aid kit too." AMong other things. Because some high schoolers were totally "smart" dumb enough to stick their hand in a lit Bunsen Burner.
Well, some of her high-school-age cousins were anyway. | Of course, schools. Especially those where they taught Chemistry or Sciences in general. "Yes, thanks for mentioning that, Vashti. It is absolutely essential to have first-aid equipment around in schools." Not only in high school...also in primary schools, in case somebody ran against the closed door or something. Quote:

'Cause, yeah. He had made her believe she was going on vacation. | ..."Me?" Somehow, that coming out of Destiny's mouth made it slightly discomforting. "Why would I want to keep this one on me all at all times?" Jeremy asked cautiously, a small confused smile playing around his lips. Was that a threat? But he had given her the teddy so he had absolutely no idea what was going on. Quote:

Salander flicked the silver clasp and lay the kit open. Bandages, gloves.... pretty standard first aid stuff. They should make this a requirement for COMC class he mused, speaking of which "Muggles bring this with them when traveling is involved, like on an airplane or a ship, or any instances when they do not have quick access to a hospital like when they venture out to the wilderness." Or Forbidden Forests... | With a nod at Salander Jeremy turned to add 'Airplanes', 'Ships' and 'Wilderness' to the list. "Yes, well done, Salander." Quote:

"Well, it doesn't hurt to be prepared everyday...muggles should have some if these when they're out and about...but I think...they need these things the most when they're out camping or something..." | "Yes, like I told Evelyn, it is quite difficult to have one of these-" He inclined his head at the red first-aid kit on his desk. "-with you all the time. But most Muggles do have basic things with them, for example band-aid for minor cuts." He smiled at Cass before turning towards another student. Quote:

House Pride aside, Patroclus piped up an answer, "Well to be honest Sir, you could take it to Switzerland! Switzerlnad is known for it's mountains, and rock climbing and mountaineering are pastimes that can be frought with injury so, having a Kit with you would be a wonderous idea"........for a muggle, Patroclus had his mumma his climbing injuries! "You could also take one to a sporting game, so cuts and bruises occur there too!" Patroclus had to surpress the urge to scream out, YOU'RE OUT!....but thought better of it! | Giggle!Snort. Jeremy chuckled at Patroclus' answer about Switzerland. He was nonetheless right, though. "Yes, absolutely correct. Though, let's just go with...climbing, okay? Switzerland isn't the only country with mountains." He winked at him and had had just been about to turn to call on another student raising their hand when he heard the Gryffindor adding something. "Yes, thank you, sport events should definitely be added to our list." Quote:

First aid kits? Didnt they have people to do first aid on them? Well. Finn was sure he could come up something that a muggle would need a first aid kit for, because well they'd get hurt a lot wouldn't they? "Wouldn't muggles keep them in places where the public go? Like shopping centres." Because that sounded like it would be quite good. "So if someone does get hurt, they can make them better or something?" | Turning to the Ravenclaw (So didn't have Hufflepuff at first. xD) Jeremy smiled with a nod and turned for the final time to add it to the list. "Yes, shopping centers would be a good place to have a first-aid kit." he agreed before turning to resume with the lesson. "Now, we have several suggestions on where and in what situations Muggles need a first-aid kit." Jeremy gestured towards the list on the board behind him. "Without actually taking any items OUT of the bag, can some of you identify some of the items? Please only name one each." He took his chalk again, ready to copy down the students' answers on the board in a separate list. *
* OOC: This is a basic first-aid kit, so don't go too wild on what the kit contains. xD |
