Was this a trick question? Frowning, she thought about it for a few seconds as she stared at the professor ZooKeeper with narrowed eyes, thinking it over...thinking... "Everyone, but himself." Or herself. DUH! Obviously the empire dude(ette) would totally rule the place! They had the POWER in their hands and words! Quote:
And it did not cross her mind at the moment that they might be playing it in class today. Twirling her quill an staring at it boredly as she kept her ears open for what the Professor was saying, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly through her nose as she spoke the first thing she thought. "The batter...runs home." Right? Evelyn...thought she read that. It was awhile ago though that she read the book. Right before she heard that Lawson was leaving. "Sucks for those who live far away though..." |

There may be easier ways to crack a walnut, but hitting it with a beater's bat was much more fun. She would have told the Professor that, but he would probably pull millions of walnuts out of his pocket and make her spend the entire lesson cracking them. She knew about people eating peanuts at phaseball games, and walnuts were sorta the same thing. As Professor Zooballon turned around, Destiny took a step away from him, hand still in the air. Jeez, he was getting awfully close. Slowly lowering her arm, she blinked back at him before answering the question that had such an obvious answer, "Well, if the batter person failed to hit the ball, they had to hit something..or someone, right? That someone being the referee person. If you got hit with a bat, you'd say that hurts, too." She would demonstrate if need be. Quote:
Destiny did NOT know these answers, but not knowing never stopped her from answering a question before. She raised her hand, still not moving from the front of the class. She was starting to like it up there..except having to look at Arya. If she was the Professor, the Raccoon Girl would be banished from class. "If the batter person hits the ball, they have to run around in a big circle.." Or diamond, but Destiny didn't know that. "And the fielding people have to get to the ball before the dogs come and want to play fetch." And with that, she lowered her hand and finally went back to her seat. Her legs were tired. |

Cameron was a muggleborn and even SHE was utterly dumbfounded by that description. Ugh.. WHUT!? Right.. so what was the question? She raised her hand up tentatively and frowned. "The batter would drop his bat - because it's a foul if you run with it, right?" Okay.. so baseball wasn't her sport of choice. But still.. she'd done it as a kid. "And theeeeeeeeeeeen, they have to run, run, run to first base before the fielders - who should be running like crazy to get the ball to one of the fielders on the base.. there is a special name for them, but I don't have a clue." Wasn't she succinct? "So.. the batter is running to get to a base and the fielders are trying to get to the ball and throw it to one of the fielders on the base before the batter get's to that base. If they do get it there before the batter get's his foot on the base, the batter is out." That made sense right? "If the fielders are taking their time, the batter can run to 2nd or third or even make for a home run.." But in professional baseball that hardly ever happened cos everyone was so pro.. but in school. heh.... |
All the others, well done. ;] <3 Quote:

"Correct." Ish. "Though, he doesn't have to do a 'huge dive-slide.'" He air-quoted the words, an amused grin plastered across his face. "It's more interesting to watch though, if he does." He added with a wink before moving on to the second part of the boy's answer. "True, but remember, this is a Muggle sport we're talking about." Duh, obviously. "So, their hands aren't engorgio'ed. They are wearing gloves. Gloves like this one." At this he bent down slightly to retrieve a baseball glove from a box under his desk and held it up for everybody to see. Quote:

Even though, Evelyn's answer was absolutely correct, the way she worded it made Jeremy assume she hadn't actually grasped the difference between the two 'homes'. As in 'home', your house, where you live, Home, Sweet Home and all that stuff. And on the other hand 'Home Base'. "Yes, they try to run home. Or rather they try to reach the Home Base. If they manage to do that before the Fielding Team brings the ball back it's called a Home Run." Trying hard not to burst out laughing at the girl's muttered addition, Jeremy settled with a small chuckle instead. Yes, that sucked. Quote:
"However, if the batter failed to hit the ball then he normally doesn't hit anything and if he were to hit somebody then it would probably be the Catcher." Though, of course it could hit the Umpire too. If he wasn't paying attention and leaning in and...okay, it normally didn't hit the Umpire...and the Catcher either. It just hit the air. It was only then that Jeremy actually realized that Destiny was STILL standing in the front of the classroom, right in front of his desk, even partly blocking his view. Nonetheless, her answer was correct. Partly anyhow. "True, if he hits the ball then he has to run...unless the ball is out." Grinning at the second part of her answer, he nodded slowly. "Well, it's hardly likely that dogs come running onto a baseball field." Though, it probably HAD happened. "So, that's not the actual reason the Fielding Team players hurry to retrieve the ball." He was going to explain that in just a second. Oh, and Ms. Walnut!Cracker was going back to her seat. Good, now he could actually SEE his class again. "I assume you have all taken down notes of what your classmates have said." It wasn't exactly very useful if he repeated it all, it would probably just bore them. But there was one thing he wanted to focus on. "Some of you mentioned the so-called 'Fly Out'. This is when one of the Fielding Team players catch the ball directly out of the air without anybody touching it after the batter has hit it with his bat. If this happens then the batter is out. Also, if any of the Batting Team players aren't 'safe' at the moment the fielder catches the ball they are also out. To be 'safe' in this case means that they are currently standing on one of the bases." To put it easily understandably. After a short pause he added with a small smirk, "So, now, after probably confusing the heck out of you, I'll conclude this part of the lesson with an easy question. Name ONE famous Baseball Team each. Only one per person please." And while they were doing that he could quickly finish up the preparations for the practical part of the lessons. "Unless, there are any more questions." There probably were...somehow this lesson hadn't gone as well-structured as he had hoped it would. Oh, well. |
Famous Baseball Teams? "Boston Red Sox, sir? Are they one?" Rubiey wasn't sure, but why not ask? She jotted the name down. |
O___________O Erm...Whut? Okay so she got Quidditch but this was just confusing. Like seriously. Batting, fielding, a load of random rules that she didn't really understand. Still she'd try her hardest for Jeremy, and knowing her she'd probably have quite a bit of fun doing it. Provided she got her hands on the bat, or err not if everyone wanted to remain uninjured on the opposing team. A famous Team however? She might be able to answer this. "The New York Yankees?" the blonde suggested. She had heard about them from her father before, no doubt from his time in America. |
"The New York Yankees." Ellie repeated after an older person said it. Heh. She could at least sound like she knew what she was talking about. Heh. |
Jayce leaned back in his chair as the professor spoke of baseball teams. He probably knew a lot more than the average student seeing as he had lived with muggles for his entire life.. until now of course, since he had found his mother and all. But wait.. Baseball teams? Mehh.. he didn't particularly like baseball.. but he had seen the kids watching some sort of baseball game on tv. Err.. now.. what was the name of the team again? Florida.. somethings.. Huh. Why couldn't he remember? Errr.. it would come to him.. just a moment.. errr.. "The Florida Marlins?" Right.. that's what they were called. They were fish. Merlin.. |
Vashti finished jotting down one more basic rule of baseball - she knew most of it, but it didn't hurt to copy it down anyway in case she forgot, right? - and then raised her hand to name another baseball team. "The Chicago Cubs are a team," she answered. |
"Steelers," Daisy said raising her hand. Or were they a football team? Grrrr. |
Alice thought for a moment. "The Philadelphia Phillies are a baseball team Professor," Alice said, that being one of the few baseball teams she knew. |
Cameron grinned. She'd only heard of one team - and that was only because that'd been the only newspaper to read in the place. "Boston Red sox, sir," She pronounced clearly with a small smile. Otherwise.. Rugby was her muggle sport of choice. |
Kurumi frowned. She didn't know any baseball teams outside of Japan....but...the professor had not specifically said American or British teams, so maybe her input would still matter. "Professor, the Seibu Lions are one of the most dominant and wealthiest teams in Japan." Her middle brother, Takashi, was kind of obsessed with them. |
Louisa finished scratching notes on her parchment just when the Professor asked for a famous Baseball Team. Ha! That was easy, she'd go with Jason's team... or her mom's? Well she didn't mind any of the teams but.. which one? Her mom's of course... "There's The Red Sox one, sir." Uh-huh it was the right name, she can't make such a mistake. Well then why does it sound a stupid name? Oh yeah she hated baseball. |
having been to a home game with his dad. Just before he had to leave for Hogwarts "the Atlanta Braves " |

Rex raised his hand. "The Oakland Athletics or A's as they are called now.Rex told the professor. "They won three World Series in a row during the 70's. " They also won what had been called "The EarthQuake Series" Rex said to the professor. The teams were the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics but an earthquke in San Francisco stopped the World Series temporarily." Rex explained to the professor. |
Vienna had heard some Muggleborns discussing something about baseball the other day She raised her hand and said "The New York Mets and Texas Rangers pretty sure thats the names of the teams she had heard |
Amber raised her hand slowly. "The Philadelphia Phillies are a team, Professor." In fact, they were her favorite muggle team. Plus they were the only she'd every watched on television. She took another glance at the professor. Sure they called Headmaster Tate 'Headmaster Hottie', but this guy was absolutely gorgeous! |
Emmaleigh raised her hand before she said "The London Mets, sir." well, atleast she thought that was one of the local baseball teams. But then again, that could have been the name of some other sports team. After all, she wasn't a big fan of the game. She knew how to play school yard baseball, but that was it. |
Famous Baseball team??Hmm..Let's see. Her sister have mentioned one when she was in State what was the team name again??Detroit something. Oh..Detroit Tigers. She raised her hand "Umm..Detroit Tigers, Professor" she said not sure. It's a baseball team right?? |
Patroclus was so truly right, Yet again! The boy made a mental note to waited back after class, and aid the new professor with his muggle studies lesson's. It was obvious he need it. What he was holding up was a the severed hand of a giant.....but he was only new so Patroclus would let him have this one. Patroclus would tell him what a Muggle was later. But now, more answers. "Sir there is the Babe Ruths!" He had always liked the name Ruth......just saying. |

"Boston Red Sox." WOOT! A question she could acctualy answer! She sighed and wrote more stuff down. This class was borrriiinnngggg. She already knows a bit too much about the muggle world. |
Nodding at each of the answers, Jeremy went to write all of the mentioned teams down on the blackboard so they could copy them down. Or not. Whichever they prefered. "Yes, well done." Now for the fun part. "Now, I hope you all brought your flat shoes because it's now time for the practical part of the lesson." Dundundun. "Please, follow me. You can leave your stuff here." And with a grin he went to open a door, not the one leading outside but a different one. |
