| | Library Reading Lounge As you enter the Hogwarts library, what appears to be a cozy nook in one corner of the main area appears most appealing to the Hogwarts student interested in his or her reading. Upon further inspection, you see that this comfy area is larger than it had seemed on first sight. Spread throughout the room are clusters of armchairs, surrounding magical reading lamps giving off different levels of light, all of which are appropriate for reading. These clusters are perfect for study groups or group projects.
Here and there are a few lone armchairs for the student who enjoys quiet solitary reading, and a number of sofas for any that would rather stretch out and put their feet up. Be sure not to muddy them up though!
A soft glow of light is present throughout the room, with more magical lamps in each possible reading space. Be sure not to make much noise and respect some students' wishes to read in quiet.
One last note, no food or drink in the reading lounge. Happy reading! |

Ah, yes. Now they were getting to the good stuff. "Hehe, I wish! I've only met three boys now, including you. And one of them is much older than me." She laughed at her hopelessness. It seemed all of her friends had boyfriends except her and Fee.
"So, how did you discover you were a wizard? Like, what magic did you first do?" Ever-Lily asked. Nice conversation starter. The answers were always interesting. "I blurted out some rude comment in Divination to one of the students...Anyways..."Adam said laughing

Evan waited nervously for an answer. Why did it take so long for her to answer? Did he talk too fast? Or maybe his pronunciation was too bad? Ugh, always the proud Scouse hated being one right now. Why didn't his parents talk that good London accent? They had to teach their son the rough mouth of Liverpool, didn't they? He practically got nervous with every passing minute until she responded. First smiled, then responded. He hoped that that smile was out of courtesy, not because he was funny. "Yeah, it has a great history..." Why was he still talking about school? Why didn't he still know her name, or even better, hadn't introduced himself yet?! He breathed deeply. Maybe he should end this embarrasment and leave...

"It's wonderful here!" Ever-Lily agreed. "Much better than home, I can tell you that..." she mumbled to herself.
"Oh, yeah, I know Rex! Fee introduced me to him at the Treehouse one day... If you know Fee." She added.
"I grew up with magic, as my family is pureblood..." Awkward.
"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that," she gave him a sympathetic look, "Wish I could help." She cared for her friends, especially when they were in hard situations.

Evan opened his mouth to answer to that comment, but he couldn't find anything to say. He was looking so silly there, he was aware of it, but his mind had stopped responding. Finally, at last, after a few seconds' silliness, he managed to say "It's as entertaining as Boh'batons, I hope?" With that, he sank in his seat with embarrassment. Not only was he still keeping up that stupid topic of school history in an even poorer fashion, but he also had a very strong feeling that he pronounced the name of the school very wrongly. Yeah, he'd better leave immediately, and avoid her for the rest of his life. Pretty girls were giving him some headache.
Yet, he stayed when she decided to introduce herself. Shaking her hand--he hoped she didn't notice the slight rise in his heart rate, he said "Evan. I'm from Liverpool." So his accent was really different that even French people realised it. He was going to take diction lessons as a first job in the summer. That was it. Then, as a second thought, he added "And where are you from?" Not that she talked any different than other French people, of course... he just wanted to know.

"Pureblood: All-magical family." She said, as if she were reading it from a dictionary, "Some purebloods think they're sooo better than everyone else," She continued. "like my parents..." She muttered. "I don't really think blood status matters though, I mean, muggleborns are perfectly interesting," She smiled and high-fived him.

She looked at her feet for a while. "So," she said quietly, in lack of anything else to say, "Wanna walk around somewhere else? You could introduce me to some of your friends, if you like..." She asked.
Pathetic.

Pathetic. "We can go and try to find Fee..."Adam said putting the Quidditch book back. He wasn't able to read much but he'd much rather have friends than play on a flying broomstick. "I think I saw here somewhere near by..."He said ,craning his neck to look into the Library's corridor.

She began to search the aisles of bookshelves.

But she wasn't going to bring up how horribly dark this place and its history were. One could tell such things by just looking around. "Bonjour Evan, from Liverpool." Hm... Liverpool... that sounded familiar. Perhaps she had met others from there. No matter, it wasn't important at the moment. "I am from Paris, of course." Anyone who was anyone was from Paris.

Monique pronounced it similar to his pronunciation, didn't she? Evan tried to decide whether it was as mocking him, but at the end he was fairly convinced he said it right. He let himself grin slightly. Yeah, he could stay here longer, and maybe even improve that silly first impression of her... hopefully. "I'd like to go to your school too, and learn about your history." Well, he was interested in the girls people and the culture more than its history, but it'd still be nice to know a few more things.
...and the end of silly history topic. Right, of course she was from Paris. Everyone French was from Paris. It was like Moscow or Istanbul. "Bonjour Monique from Pa'is," he replied with a more relaxed smile now, trying to mimick their accent but failing at it inevitably. He opened his mouth to ask something-- anything--in French, but realised that it just won't come out. He was fairly good at Spanish, but no French. Nope. The way they talked was impossible for him, and he could hardly understand it at all. Instead, he opted to ask about France. "I don't think I've ever been to Paris, which is a shame." It really was, how could he have never been there?! "How is it there?" Apart from that it was obviously pretty?

Everyone should get to learn more about the wonderful city of Paris. Everything there is fantastic. The food is fantastic. The clothing is fantastic. The weather is fantastic. And, of course, the company is fantastic.
Her face lit up as he asked about it. "Oh, it is simply wonderful." she said as she clasped her hands together. "During the summer I would spend my mornings at this cafe that had an excellent view of the Eiffel Tower. I would take a mid-morning walk around the gardens. Then, after my lessons I would go to one of the museums or do some shopping." she said recapping her days. "There was just so much to see and so much to do."
And now she was here. Stuck in a dark castle.
Culture shock.

The seventh year had remained pretty solidly olivious to the whispers that had surrounded her. She hadn't yet stumbled upon the articles in question and remained blissfully and ignorantly unaware of the fact that she was school gossip.
She entered the library, with a sort of ominous feeling. Something dreadful was about to happen. She could just
feel it.

So he'd given in... There was no one around in the Common Room to keep him company and distract him from his own thoughts, so the Head Boy decided to make his way up to the library to hide from the Chinese whisperers quell the boredom and tackle his steadily mounting pile of homework.
He hadn't seen Cam or, indeed, Raiden since he found that parchment on the Slytherin table earlier. It crossed his twitchy mind that they were together.. flirting and whispering to each other. He shook his head. Stupid paranoia.
With a small pout curling down his mouth, he entered the library and stopped dead in his tracks when his eyes landed on the very girl he had been looking for. He swallowed thickly.. and wandered over to her, pulling out a seat and sitting beside her. “Don't tell me the whispering masses have forced you into hiding too.” He teased in a whisper with a weak, albeit genuine, smile.

She figured that very same ominous feeling could be the mountain of homework she'd neglected the several afternoons she'd spent trying to study or attempt to for the tournament. But it was time to get serious.
She heard Oliver's voice and turned. His presence brought up a smile, but his question however made her pause.
Whispering masses? Was he talking about those gaggle of giggly third years? Why would she be hiding? That was a little drastic for a bunch and bored schoolgirls, wasn't it? "Erm.. no. I just had a heap of homework to do.." Nayways, hiding in the Library wasn't an ideal hiding place either. "...Are you hiding from them?" That was a little strange..

Oliver dug in his bag and pulled out a huge pile of books, placing them on the table with a echoing CRASH! He eyed them for a moment - how did he manage to get so far behind? Oh yeah, laziness. heh.
He frowned when Cam spoke and looked from his books to her. Cam, Little Miss Self Confessed Hermit, wasn't hiding from this? “Merlin, your skin's getting thicker, innit?” And apparently, his was getting thinner. They were rubbing off on each other? ..Role Reversal! Maan, that was just too scary to even think about! "I remember when the mere sight of blue robes was enough to make you want to hide." He laughed awkwardly.
He blinked, his frown deepening and he nodded to his question which was turned back onto him. “How do rumours like this start anyway? They usually grow from something, don't they?” He sighed.. his brain wasn't very good at communicating with his gob, was it? He wasn't really saying what he wanted to here at all. He pulled a face. “Like, it was completely innocent, right?”
Awkwardness.

Parchment flew as Oliver dumped the entire library on te rickety little desk. "You look set for a really exciting afternoon.." All the goodness of finishing homework. Her divination dream diary was a pain. She didn't WANT to write about her dreams.
Her skin? Didn't those girls usually harp in about each other? Who stole the other's crush and that sort of shizz? "Erm.. It doesn't really relate to me much.." Cameron kept WELL away from them and they didn't bother her. It was a good routine.
Blue robes. *shudder* "Those girls have left now.." And she wasn't so willing to let them walk over her now that she had a badge and wad alright with a wand. The first three years had been hell.
Cameron looked up, quill bit between her teeth. She frowned. That laugh had sounded reaaaaally weird. "You right, babe?" He looked a little nervous "I'll help.. With the homework. It's not too hard. The runes homework was a pinch!" She smiled proudly.
Wait.. HE was hiding from THIRD years? "Oliver.. They're stupid, ignore them.." Why was he stressing over something so stupid anyway? They hadn't been bothering him had they?
Rumours? She frowned, chewing on her quill in confusion. "Which one?" She asked with a laugh. Those girls had a new drama daily. Hourly even. "I don't know.. one of them probably cheated in her vsf friend by flirting with her crush and them the other got jealous and .. Hey presto! Drama!"
They really were really simple creatures..
Innocent? How was she supposed to know!!? "I don't know .. They're all really pretty and think they can get whatever they want.. Loyalties and friendship change daily." Why was he so worried about this? "Does it matter?" She asked, bored already. She hadn't seen him in ages [again] and he wanted to talk about the mindless barbies that inhabited hogwarts?
*yaaaaaawn*

Oliver crinkled his nose with disgust and eyed the pile of books ominously. “That's what you get for procrastinating.” He sighed. “I was never like this over Quidditch. This Head Boy badge has it's ruddy draw backs.” He flicked the shiny badge lazily and leaned his elbows on the desk, feeling it creek under his weight combined with the books. Hogwarts liked to preserve antiques, huh?
It didn't relate to her much? Say wha!? His mouth curled downwards. “So this is you rising above it, is it?” It was so much harder to actually discuss given how... meh Cam seemed about it. The Cam he knew would usually freak over things so much smaller. “Earth to Cam!” He clicked his fingers in front of her face. “This is Cameron Caddock, right? Not some clone?” Urgh.
Merlin, Something in his laugh gave him away. Pffft. But.. then she was on about the homework and not the 'rumour' he wanted to discuss. “Look, Cam. It's not the homework. It's this... this stupid rumour.” He said starting to get a bit frustrated that she was being so calm while he was having an inward freak!out. “It's a leeettle bit hard to ignore when, like, everyone's talking about it.” he said flatly.
What in gawd's name was she waffling on about? Oliver's expression said it all. He sat and looked at her disbelievingly...like she'd lost her marbles. But, ah.. he knew how to get her to focus! He dug in his pocket and pulled out a crumpled piece of parchment, unscrunched it and passed it to Cam as she yawned like he was boring her to death. Guh. “I'm talking about THIS! The hell you on about, Sleepy?” He tapped her forehead annoyingly to try and wake her up.
Weird, weird oblivious girl.

He was soooo right. Responsibilities were fun at times but seriously, she wasn't coping with all the homework. Sehriously. "It's just been so busy too!" She was so tired and stressed about exams and the tournament. Erk. "Then again, Oliver, you're doing a fantastic job," She said and she meant it, truly.
Cameron was fairly certain they weren't talking about the same thing but what HE was talking about she was totally lost about. Rise above what?
Watching him like he'd gone a bit funny as he clicked his fingers in her face, she swatted him away. "This is as ME as you'll get.." She told him getting slightly irritated. What was he on about?
Rumour!? What bloody rumour? She stared at him blankly as he spoke feeling very stupid and lost. More than lost. She really had no clue what he was on about .. "Is it about someone we know?" Aww.. maybe it was Sav.. Or Trixie.. Or Lori!
She was such a bad friend..
And she could tell from Oliver's bewildered expression that this was big news. She gulped as he handed her a piece of parchment and her curiosity piqued. A letter? Newspaper?
She didn't make a sound when he flicked her, she read it carefully, her eyes widening as she read to the end. Her face paled, the paper crumpling in her balled fist.
She fumed silently for a moment. All those whispers.. The laughter.. Was about HER!?
She slumped. Fear. Embarrassment. Her cheeks flamed and she glanced at Oliver, understanding dawning
On her. "Do you believe it?" She whispered, brown eyes stilled on his green ones. It was quiet in the library. Too quiet.

A frown darkened the boy's open features and he studied Cam, looking at her properly for the first time since... well probably since their argument during the school holidays. She had NEWTs, the Prefect stuff plus the Triwizard Tournament to worry about... and here was Oliver complaining, albeit it casually, about being Head Boy. “You coping ok? I mean, I know we're in different houses but I can help with your homework.” He offered. “Jus' not Arithmancy because...” He went cross eyed and tapped the side of his head. “I'm the village idiot when it comes to numbers...” Like, seriously.
He shrugged when she complimented him. Meh.. he was doing an average job really. His heart, so far, hadn't truly been in it.
And still, he looked at her like she was mental. Someone they knew? “Er.. yes.” He said slowly and deliberately for the thick slow Gryffie “You know her VERY well.” Like, look in the mirror, Red, and you'll see her looking right backatcha.
He kept his eyes on the girl as she took the parchment and read it. Clearly, she hadn't been rising above it. Clearly, by her expression and the angry way she balled up the parchment, she knew nothing about this little bit of juicy gossip. “Well?” He raised a brow, waiting for her response as she slumped.
But it wasn't the simple 'yes' or 'no' that the Snake wanted. It was a question.. He swallowed. Did he believe it?
He hesitated, his eyes widening but on hers the whole time. Man, it was too quiet in here. “I.. don't think I do... no.” He replied in whisper that would barely be audible usually, but it seemed to echo around the library walls.

His question made her frown. Coping. She shrugged. There wasn't much use in lying was there? "You sort of fumble along.." She didn't know how to balance everything. School work, Prefectanship, the Tournament and her friends and most importantly Oliver. It felt like she'd seen him twice in the entire time they'd been back at school. She felt so distanced from everyone. "It's not really homework," She told him honestly. It was more life. She needed help with life.
A small smile appeared as she put down the chill she'd been chewing. "How've you been.. 'coping'?" Because SHE would manage somehow but she felt his well-being sort of trumped her stupid ineptness.
And this was all just TOO confusing. Someone SHE knew very well? Again.. that left her with her original assumptions. Lori.. Savsies. Oh man.. she'd neglected them this much that OLIVER knew before she did? About her best friends? How absolutely pathetic..
Then he passed her a parchment and it was like that ominous feeling had been there for a reason. Her stomach dropped and she felt so.. stupid. Foolish. Well? She didn't respond, just uncrumpled the parchment. How could someone MAKE something like this up? And about HERRR!? She kept almost entirely to herself..
Who would've thought that the weird and introverted first year would become school gossip? Moreover, a school champion who was supposedly 'dating' the Slytherin Prefect and fellow School Champion. It made her sick.. but at the same time the urge to burst out laughing was tempting. It was so ridiculous. HER and RAIDEN? Had these people even SEEN Raiden? For one, he was already dating someone and for TWO he was so incredibly out of her league it wasn't even funny. And the third point - which should've been the first really, was the fact that CAMERON wasn't single. Hmph. This was obviously definitive evidence.
Speaking of 'definitive evidence', Cameron had to ask. It'd been her first thought. Second.. after she'd gotten over the initial anger at being the subject of a school scandal. Oliver's hesitation caused her to stilt, and she felt .. horrible. And when he spoke, it didn't really affirm much, if anything it caused her to stand. ".. You don't.. think you do?" So he didn't 'THINK' she would do something like that? Which meant he wasn't sure. In her. He wasn't sure in her. He actually thought that she would do something like THAT to him? Did he know her at ALL? That hurt. A lot more than the fact that some utter doink had published lies about her. It hurt the fact that Oliver would believe them.
Suddenly she wanted to be anywhere but where she was standing. His eyes were staring at her - she felt accused and her first instinct was to hurt him back but she wrenched her trap closed. She wanted to run, to be anywhere but standing here, in front of him, feeling guilty for doing.. nothing.

You sort of fumble along...
Oliver continued to watch the petite redhead: the frown, the shrug. It was kinda sad seeing her like this. They spend more time together as friends before they 'got together' than they ever had as boyfriend and girlfriend. Hell, they hadn't even managed to see much of each other during the holiday... and when they had, it hadn't exactly been the meeting Oliver would have liked. Were they growing apart? Did she feel so alienated that she found solace in the arms of the Slytherin Prefect? The image of them in an embrace, whispering sweet nothings to each other suddenly came back to him. Urgh.. no! He shook his head. He was being totally paranoid! But the thoughts, in the form of printed words, had been planted in his head, it was kind of difficult not to let it drift to the front of your mind.
“What is it then?” He asked her, swallowing thickly. Was this the part where she let him down gently.. GUAAH! This was insane! “I'm coping fine.” He shrugged. Meh.. he always did, didn't he?
She looked like she was in a state of shock. The initial feeling was to give her a hug and tell her it was all really stupid and that he loved her and supported her no matter what, but then that annoying paranoid whinny voice inside his head was telling him she looked shocked because she had been caught red handed. But reason won in the end and he took her hand tentatively into his. “'S'okay.” He tried to assure her. This was making him seem waaay too vulnerable for his liking. HE couldn't just smile and joke and hide from this now could he? This was some serious shizz.
He let go of her hand when she stood, and blinked up at her, grimacing inwardly. Why didn't he just say 'no'? That was what he was supposed to say. That was what he WANTED to say! Urgh.. he looked at her apologetically. “I don't think you would do that.” Dang his mouth. He pulled his eyes away from hers. Those brown eyes could communicate so much and now he'd gone and hurt her.
….
Silence.
He swallowed again. Could she not see this from his point of view? Would she believe it if it was him and some other chick rumoured to have been in a compromising position? “You wouldn't... would you?”
Urgh.. cringe. Hadn't his childhood psychologist given him strategies to THINK before he spoke? How come he couldn't remember ANY of them when they were NEEDED!?

How did you explain to someone that you needed help with everything? Cameron couldn't even begin to sort out the numerous inequalities in her life. She didn't like the fact that this was their last year - that meant decisiosn. BIG decisions and most importantly change. For the most part, Cameron was a highly unadaptable person. She was stubborn and she liked things to continue in the way they'd started. Now.. they were leaving school and things had to change. At the height of her worries was the fact that she barely saw Oliver. It seemed rather shallow on the surface, but what she was really afraid of was that the day would come when Oliver would realise what perhaps his funny brain had been missing for a while and leave because she wasn't the prettiest or the smartest nor perhaps even the funniest. And while she knew it would come, it was difficult to set yourself up to watch someone you love leave you. The past summer had been difficult enough - she had no idea how she would cope. "..Just life, really." She didn't try to explain - she would end up saying something she didn't want to say. She shrugged. Fine. She'd never much liked that word. Fine. It didn't really swing positively or negatively - as was probably the point. It was just an answer. "That's good." Was it?
You sort of didn't expect someone to give you a piece of parchment that outlined your own supposed 'love life'. Especially when that someone was your boyfriend. Even less expectedly - when everyone else knew.. except you.
She didn't know whether to scream in frustration, cry from embarassment or laugh at the stupidity of the statement. So she just sat there. Her mind didn't even think to worry about how Oliver might've reacted to this. It was content to continue it's internal rant of self-pity and *cringing*. She felt Oliver's hand over her's and her eyes turned to look at him. Okay? It wasn't BLOODY okay. It was LYING.
And what did Cameron hate more than compliments?
BLOODY WELL LYING. "How.. could they?" But despite the inner fury, she felt foolish enough for having thought the current gossip going around was about someone else made it embarassing enough to whisper.
Oliver. She could be soo selfish at times. But his answer brought her back to HIM. HE was doubting her. His answer - hesitant and curious - didn't help her insecurities. She stood abruptly and then he repeated it. He wasn't SURE. He just didn't THINK she would do that. TO him? Was he so convinced that she was crazy, that he actually thought she'd lost all morals and was off cheating on him?
Did he think she would do that to someone she loved?
There was a huge difference between THIS and what had happened over the summer. Why would she actively seek out to hurt him? She loved him. And Raiden? Oh for merlin's sake. The Prefect was DATING someone.
Her brown eyes remained steady on him as he looked away. That had hurt. The distrust and suspicion. He couldn't even look at her. She frowned and pushed the wooden chair in, pushing her spare parchment into a haphazard pile.
And another question, harsh brown eyes levelled on his. "I can't believe.. you know what? Join the masses. Believe what they print. I couldn't care less. You and the rest of the school."
But she did care. Not about the school or her teachers or ANYONE. She cared about him. Taking the parchment and her quill, she left the aparecium beside him and left. "Keep it. It's a freakingamazing read."
