Just yards away from the edge of the Lake are a number of blankets laid out and some of the cushion and pillows from the last lesson. Each blanket is large enough to hold four or five students.
With a glance at all the students following her, she lead the way and situated herself and her own picnic basket on the blanket nearest the lake.
"Do come and find a blanket and settle in. Our picnic will begin soon."
Sylvie smiled. Yes, there were definitely moving in the right direction now.
"Another great example, Eino. There are many creatures that are constantly around us, some we can see and others that we don't see all the time."
Looking at the young eagle, she sighed. "Well, who would you like to talk about? Haven't you wondered about maybe the ghosts that wander about the castle?"
"Well, i have always found him to be nice and trusting myself. But trust is something earned and I would like to think I have earned that."
"Very good examples, Cass."
Again the outburst from the eagle caused her to look at him rather strangely. Maybe being so far up in the towers were starting to affect their young minds.
"Jacob I am not sure what you speak of. I've never been up in the tower for that matter. But if you say you saw something, i can only take your word for it. have you spoken to your Head of House about said gorilla?"
Looking to the she-snakes, Sylvie raised a brow. This really wasn't the direction she had wanted the lesson to go.
"I don't think is the time or place to really be talking about the professors. I really was thinking about maybe the ghosts and other beings around the castle."
Finally, another student that was getting the jest of what she was trying to lead the class.
"Very good point. In fact, do keep this point in mind. I just might ask you all more about this later."
"Again, I don't really believe this is the time or place for such discussions. I'm sure Professor Zookara wouldn't be amused that we are talking about this."
Yes, this lesson was leading away from what she intended.
Again, she shook her head and slightly crossed her arms before her. "I really don't feel this information is relevant to the lesson. My personal life is my own history and I highly doubt you would be interested it."
Really, why the sudden interest in all the professors? She was a bit baffled now.
"Very good, ghosts do inhabit the castle and we see a lot of them from time to time."
"Yes, the flood. I was really hoping someone remember that. I wasn't present, but I'm sure that it left an impression on the students."
"Well, the last time I checked the lake was full of things that Bartholomew could eat but I don't think he is the type to eat merepeople."
Of course it was very possible, she would probably have to look into it for maybe even talk to Maya about it.
"You know, I do believe the lake would be connected to the ocean in some way. I haven't been to the other side of the lake, but one would think there was a river or stream that would feed the lake and all."
Again with the talk of professors and love triangles and polygons.
"Really class, we shouldn't be talking about such things. You wouldn't want the professors to speak of you and your relationships, would you? I say we stop this now and more on."
Again, she shook her head and waved her hand over her basket. The lid of it closed as all the other picnic baskets followed in succession.
"Class, I really think this lesson is going nowhere. Perhaps, I should just give out the homework and let you loose to wander about."
Daisy sighed, it was such a good day but if the Professor wanted to end class then she was going to protest. Pulling out her sketch pad she began to draw the world around her slowly.

I think he'd come into the castle to have a look around... I'm not sure though." The prefect nodded, trying to remember the details, then carried on. "I wanted to find out what was going on, and one of the older students - like, a sixth year or something - told me that Mr Henry likes shiny things... So I gave him my one of my favourite bracelets, thinking that he'd tell us what he knew."
Iris had a bit of a black look on her face by this point. "Obviously he didn't tell us anything... He just looked really impressed with his new present. I think he could understand us though... When I was asking him if he knew anything. You wouldn't think it, but the giant squid uses a lot of different facial expressions. Or... maybe I was just a bit loopy in First year. I'm rooting for the first one, though."

Aaron wasn't exactly happy enough with the response he received. But whatever. But. Since there was really no class. He was going to speak up, again. "I don't mean, like, i talked to him. I swam out to him, and he lifted me out of the water.... The very cold water." There, hopefully, a conversation will really pick up.

Eino had attempted to talk to it, so he couldn't think of anything else he could do to further show his interest, but he wished the class wouldn't end so soon. "Professor, are giant squids hostile? If a person fell in the water, what would the squid do?" He asked with his hand raised. He had always heard some bad rumors about the squid, he even once heard it had eaten some first years who fell into the lake when they were coming to Hogwarts on their boats.

"I did always find him to be rather cryptic at times myself. Words aren't the only means of communication. Facial expression and other cues are sometimes just as good as spoken words."
Maybe this lesson wasn't completely going astray after all.

"Aaron, you didn't have to speak with him to communicate with him. Interaction with him would be considered communication as well. When spoken word between the two of you didn't occur, you still managed to communicate."
Really, she didn't expect them to think Bartholomew spoke english or anything. That would be rather silly.

However, it didn’t stop the smirk appearing on her face. That Hufflepuff champion guy that Destiny didn’t like had a good one. She wanted to know about that triangle thing going on. She really didn’t care, but ever since Lafay’s assignment of creating puking pastilles and having them reward Carlton’s door with a ‘present’ because of it, it seemed more serious than she had thought in the beginning. Forget the French girl. She’d be gone next term, but the three Professors were a good chance of staying.
Raising a brow as Patroclus spoke of the Niffler once more, Evelyn chuckled before shaking her head. Nope. It was a crup. Totally. "Talk about you?" Well, she could but…it seemed the Professor didn’t like them talking about people all that much. Pssh, it was just because Salander wanted to know more about her wasn't it. Yea, totally.

Standing up, the Slytherin stretched before grabbing her stuff. Well, that seemed like a short lesson. Then again, any lesson outside seemed like a short lesson. Except...for creatures class. That one seemed to just carry on forever. It was totally better when MR. Lawson was there though. Maybe if he was they could have raced on thestrals again.
..."Professor? Are there any famous creature races in history?" she asked, looking back over to the professor. Random question, but now she was curious. How complicated would it be to create a race with creatures?

As the professor said that they were just going to end the lesson, Iris frowned. N'awwww. She wanted to see Mr Henry! Maybe she could just hang around at the lake a little while longer... Surely he's bound to show up at some point...
Slowly, the prefect started to gather up her things whilst debating on whether or not to stay out by the lake. She did have a lot of revision to do... but that could probably wait, right?

So with a sigh, she stod up from her blanket, too the remaining cupcake and said to the professor "Bye, professor! I hope we get to see Bartholomew soon!"
Neptune edged towards Duncan, leaned into him a bit. At least The Champion would gossip with her. "That girl got us in trouble and ruined class."
That girl being EVELYN. Slytherins. Pfff.
"Sorry Professor! I love you! I'll not gossip in class next time. Sorry I was led astray by the less academic." Neptune bowed her head, clearly clearly clearly apologetic for being influenced by Evelyn. Evilyn, more like.
Hid behind her curls, Neptune made an X with her fingers in Evelyn's direction. Giggle.
Amy sighed, she had been so exited when she'd heard they might see Bartholomew *pout*
oh well. "Bye professor, have a great day" she told professor Welton happily. she grabbed the last of the cookies from her basket and started to skip back to the castle. "I hope we can see Bartholomew sometime soon" she said as she skipped away.

Do you know how old he is? Would it be possible to do a submarine-like expedition into the lake someday to see how deep it really is and if we could get to the ocean from there???"

Really, why the sudden interest in all the professors? She was a bit baffled now.
"Very good, ghosts do inhabit the castle and we see a lot of them from time to time."
"Yes, the flood. I was really hoping someone remember that. I wasn't present, but I'm sure that it left an impression on the students."
"Well, the last time I checked the lake was full of things that Bartholomew could eat but I don't think he is the type to eat merepeople."
Of course it was very possible, she would probably have to look into it for maybe even talk to Maya about it.
"You know, I do believe the lake would be connected to the ocean in some way. I haven't been to the other side of the lake, but one would think there was a river or stream that would feed the lake and all."
Again with the talk of professors and love triangles and polygons.
"Really class, we shouldn't be talking about such things. You wouldn't want the professors to speak of you and your relationships, would you? I say we stop this now and more on."
Again, she shook her head and waved her hand over her basket. The lid of it closed as all the other picnic baskets followed in succession.
"Class, I really think this lesson is going nowhere. Perhaps, I should just give out the homework and let you loose to wander about."

Really, she didn't expect them to think Bartholomew spoke english or anything. That would be rather silly.
"I can't speak for all squids, but I would think the general answer would be no. As long as you aren't a direct threat to them, I would think they wouldn't attack."
With a last glance at the lake, she sighed.
"You know class, I think it really is time to cut our losses. Bartholomew isn't going to show himself and I'm sure you all are restless. So I will just post your assignment by my office and you are free to go. Class dismissed."
Yes, it was a bust it seemed. She really had hoped for more, but she couldn't completely control the actions of the students or that of Bartholomew. Of course, there was always another time to introduce the class to him.
OOC: I will be posting the homework within the next 24 hours and it will be due within a week. So it will be due before the final.
Salander blinked up from his half eaten ham sandwich midchew. Wait....did he hear that right? Class is over? But things were just getting interesting....

The Slytherin lad hurried to get up, seeing as the other students started to say goodbye. He gave a quick glance at Evelyn, seems like she was still asking a question.... a race with what? Creatures? She didnt have to look farther than the forest. Lots of creatures with more legs than necessary.
He swung his messenger bag over his shoulder, then walked by the Professor "Sorry about that Professor Welton." the lad apologized quietly "I didnt mean to cause you any embarrassment. And if it means anything, you at least convinced me that the Squid may not be so nasty." He may be back around the area of the lake sometime, for homework or something...
