AAWWWWW cushions!
Tory grinned as she stepped into the History of Magic classroom. "Good morning professor" she said brightly while sitting down on a big, comfy-looking one.

Rubiey wandered into the History of Magic lesson, happy that she wasn't late. "Morning, Professor!" She said brightly, with a smile on her face.

She plopped down onto one of the big squidgy cushions, took out her parchment and quill, then crossed her legs and began doodling until the lesson started.

Dylan smiled, "Me too." He blushed slightly as she kissed his cheek. How forward. "To be honest. I hate history. But I am here, because I need points, and a NEWT." Truth.

Alice came into the classroom pleased to see all the cushions along the floor. She always did enjoy doing homework and such on the floor as opposed to a desk...she wasn't really sure why that was though.

Seeing Rubiey Alice took up a cushion next to her, smiling at her before shifting her attention to the Professor.

"Hello Professor Welton! How are you today?"

Jacob power walked towards the HoM classroom. This was one of the classes he actually looks forward to, it was the class he could act himself in and not get detention. It was great.

As Jacob entered the room. He immediately saw the cushions. And there, right there. A soft cushion was calling his name, it's like 'Jacob!' or maybe it was like ' jay bob' but he did see any jay bobs around here. So Jacob yelled "MINE!" and went into a jumping dive towards the pillow. In mid air he said in a slow motion voice. "miiiiiiineeee!!" yeah Jacobs. He hit the ground right in front of it. Wow he needed to work on his ratios. With his height and the height of his jump, the velocity of a non-laden swallow must be... Wait a European or African swallow?

Ahhhhhhh! His brain hurts now. Why was math so hard. How do muggles do it?

Jacob crawled onto the cushion. And completely out of breath he said a quick " mine!" yeah it was Jacobs pillow now!

Dianna made herself comfortable enough as she waited for the treats to be distributed and for the professor to start with her lesson of the day.

"Sugar, yes there will be sugar for sure." she laughed. Chocolate and sugar, yes this was going to be a very sugar-driven lesson for sure.

Hearing the sound of someone yelling MINE, she looked over and notice it was Jacob and shook her head. The 'claw was always rather amusing.

"Jacob, nice of you to join us. Do take care not to hurt yourself now," she smiled before scanning the room.

Looking down at her watch, she nodded and made her walk back around the table. Pulling her wand from it's holster, she tapped it against her leg and looked out at the students.

"Okay class, I think it's time to start now. But before we do. I thought after the last lesson, you all deserve a small treat. It's not grilled cheese but it's still a treat." Pulling her wand up, she tapped each plate. With a pop, each plate now had treats upon them. The centre was stacked with brownies, the left with cupcakes, and the right with carrot. Blinking at the last plate, she smiled. "Do help yourselves and then we shall begin soon."

"I'm doing well, thanks Professor Welton," Alice said with a smile.


Ooh. Treats! Once the plates were full Alice got up and went over to them, snagging a brownie and a couple of carrots. Never hurt to be healthy right?

"Thanks for the treats Professor Welton," Alice said loud enough so she could hear her.

Alice had forgotten to grab a bite to eat before class so this was a nice surprise. Happily Alice bit down into her carrot, making a loud crunch before continuing to chew and swallowing. Nothing like a good carrot.

Lexi tore her eyes away from her shameless brother THROWING himself at a FOURTH YEAR. Gah what was wrong with him!? AS she looked away she saw that her plate was piled with yummies!! WOOT! Smiling she looked at Professor Welton and said, "Thank you Professor!" She wasn't about to touch the food yet though... she wasn't sure if this was some trick the likes of which Tate would pull on them... Paranoid much? Nah... not Lexi.

Diggy found himself once again wrapped up in a fantastic daydream. Professor Carlton was tied to the mast of a mighty ship and he the sole surviving pirate off the doomed ship was going to save her. A dopey smile was plastered on his face, but he was soon snatched from the clutched of an angry shark when the smell of cupcakes danced across the bridge of nose. "Chocolate," he breathed.

he got up and helped himself to a chocolate cupcake with pink frosting and yellow sprinkles on top. And it was half gone by the time he got back to his seat. And there was frosting up under his nose.

Ellie looked at Fletcher. "Chyeahhh."

"Yessss!" Fist pump. Goood teacher, this one. Gooood teacher.

YESCHOCOLATE!!! Ellie grabbed her cushion, cuz it would NOT be good if someone stole it while she was grabbing chocolate, and went up to the plates. It was help yourself, right? So... using her cushion as a base, she piled loads into the center of it. Brownies!, and cupcakes! and... errrr, carrots? No, no thank you. No carrots. She was not a rabbit. And she didn't feel bad about it either. Smart professor like Welton would surely have done the 'keep on going' charm on the plate.

She pushed her cushion back to its original position, and grabbed all the chocolate her two hands could fit, and sat on it again. Mind you, she might have sat on a few brownies, but she'd eat those anyway. Heh. She was clean. The cushion... well, she would pretend it was clean.

Yup.

Oh the temptation!

With wide child like eyes, Oliver licked his lips as the tasty glucose filled treats appeared with a satisfying pop.

Why did so many professors insist on feeding them up with sugary treats? Sugary treats that Oliver KNEW he needed to avoid. Did they really want him climbing the walls (literally sometimes ) when he should be sitting still and learning?

He shuddered at the mental image of it, stood and wandered over to the brownies and cakes and eyed them complete with miserable pout on his face. He frowned and selected a carrot and returned to his cushion.

CRUNCH.

Chomp chomp chomp.

*grumble mutter grumble*

Grabbing a brownie for herself, Sylvie took a seat atop one of the cushions. Everyone looked happy with the treats and happy students equal a happy class. Happy class equals happy professor.

Nomming on her brownie, she waited for everyone to settle back into their seats. "Okay class, time to begin. Keep helping yourself to the treats, the house elves will keep popping in more if we need them." She did need to remember to thank those house elves for all their help.

"Now, can anyone tell me when magic was first used? Or even when it was maybe first documented?"

It was disgusting. Evelyn could smell it from where she napped sat.

Chocolate.

It was filling up the room! But, she supposed having a comfy pillow in the process helped somewhat. And it was better than having that ‘grilled cheese sandwich’ smell fill her nostrils. That was horrible. Keeping her opinions to herself on the snacks that were being handed out, completely missing the fact that there were carrots, the Slytherin heard the question being asked, and tried to think of the answer.

Meh. Magic was first used… “A long time ago.” She muttered, still on the floor and still with her eyes closed. She can be comfy and still learn right? “Sometime in, or before, the tenth century…” Or something. “BC I mean. Tenth century, BC... I think.”

She was still waking up, so her brain was all fuzzy at the moment. "Well no, magic was probably used waaaay before then but, it probably wasn't documented or even known to the world yet."

BROWNIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jacob leaped forward and took around a thousand four or five brownies and went back to his cusion. MINE.

Jacob stuffed all the brownies he had taken into his mouth, and raised his hand "Mahit ih olt" he said with partially eaten brownie flying every where. Jacob realized how incomprehendible that was so he did the best he could to swallow all the brownies quickly. With one last gulp, Jacob took a deep breath. That was hard work. "Well, Magic comes from the word in latin, Magi. And Latin is quite old so, I'm guessing Magic is pretty old. Like 75 BC or older"

75 BC, or older... Wow that is actually quite old. Almost as old as Kazimeriz........................

Lexi was not really sure of the answer but she raised her hand and stupidly said, "Was it Merlin that first used magic?" Yeah... she was not really positive of the answer but she felt she should contribute something.

Ellie wasn't talking...because she was eating. Duh. Which was more important? But, since a whole lot of people were NOT answering, she decided it was part of her duty to do so. Yeah.

"Well, it depends on your view really" the Sixteen year old answered. "Magic's origin is not completely known for sure, but it is safe to say that its history dates way beyond Merlin himself. Now, can we name some example of magic before Merlin's time or around then?"

Alice thought for a moment. "I would say very long ago, probably in the BC era. Magic may have been used before then, but I doubt they would have had the means to document it. I'm not sure if this is after BC but isn't it argued that they used magic to move huge boulders and such that were used to build monuments and everything?"

Alice wasn't bad at history, but boy it was difficult keeping track of what happened before or after what when it came to so far back in history.

YES! 2 points. The young blonde grinned now more comfortable in her situation.

Trixie had an idea, something she had completely forgotten about before. She raised her hand again, now a great big smile stuck firmly on her face. "The Ancient Egyptians Professor" she started to answer. "Didn't they used to put curses on their tombs before they passed to stop anyone from breaking and entering and then stealing all their treasures and possessions" she continued. "Skeletons of Muggles had been found with like, extra heads and various other curse made problems from when people tried and failed at entering the Pyramids. What can only be described as the effect of a Wizard or Witch produced curse" she completed.

Wait! Was that before Merlin? Ah well it was a pretty detailed answer in her opinion even if it WAS wrong.

Ooooh, treats? Well, Professor Welton sure knew how to get on the good side of her students.

Aiden walked on up to the three plates. Brownies, cupcakes, carrots. Hah. Awwh, the carrots made him think of Ella and her new-found taste for the vegetable. Ignoring the healthier choice, he took one of the brownies and thanked her before returning to his cushion on the floor.

When Magic was first used? Aiden opened his mouth, which was - at the moment - empty of any brownie bites, and was about to voice his opinion about magic probably starting with Merlin, but some other girl beat him to the punch. "My guess would be Merlin as well," he added, adjusting his position. "Although I can't say I know the exact time period in which it was first recorded."

Oh well. He didn't know, but that is why he was here, right? To learnnnn.

Hmmm, other wizards around Merlin's time.. would be.... "Morgan le Fay?" He wasn't sure if that was correct, for he was just going by the stories he had read about King Arthur, and Morgan le Fay was a witch, sooo..

Lexi put her hand up and said, "Well we know that Morgana La Fay was also practicing magic at the same time as Merlin. But I think I agree with Alice that surely a lot of the older structures were probably built with magic. Like maybe the pyramids even."

OOOOH Jacob knew this one!!!! Oh Wait... no, never mind.

Oh Look, A Brownie!... "MINE!" he said and grabbed the brownie of the plate, and stuck in his mouth.

Jacob waited for the other answers, only like 3 people? Why were people so quiet? People should be as hyper as he is...

What Would Lainey do?

Jacob jumped up. "Its not that early! Wake up!" he whined at his class mates. "Alright! Were going to do laps and then get make to the discussion!" he yelled at them. "That means you too professor! 1, 2, 3, 4! 1, 2, 3, 4!" he started clapping his hands loudly like a drill sergeant would.

WHO was that annoying dude that was interrupting her peaceful attempt to wake up!? Peaking open a black eye of hers, Evelyn half GLARED at the kid, having all intent of wishing it'd burn a hole through him to distract him enough to stay quiet, but apparently, she didn't have that sort of power. Guess she'd just put up with it, seeing as she was too lazy to silencio him. Hehe. Now THAT would be funny.

Or... "Professoooooor. He's interrupting my nap learning." Mwahaha! Now, back to her answer. "And I have a question. During the older days, did they have wands back then as well? If so, how did they know to create them? And if they didn't, were they just naturally good at wandless magic?"

And if so with THAT, how come they themselves nowadays weren't?
