Once she'd brought up Middle-Earth, Grayson both felt kind of stupid and proud of herself. But once she saw the head boy's reaction, the stupidness sort of went away and she sent him a grin. At least someone wasn't about to make fun of her. And then Professor Welton had spoken, and she felt even better. See? Not a stupid answer, she thought, before she was distracted by the class discussion continuing. Time to probably write down some notes, before things got too involved.

But as a goddess of magic was mentioned, a thoughtful look crossed her face. She didn't really read that much mythology, generally, but there was still something. Raising her hand, she spoke again. "What about Hecate? Isn't she sort of considered the Greek goddess of witches?" Maybe she really existed too. Not to mention she thought that was Professor Lafay's name, which sort of made sense. In a scary way.

"That is very likely. They could have just been telling true stories of their adventures and the muggles just thought them to be fairy tales."

"Hecate is the Greek equivalent of Trivia. Goddess of magic and crossroads. Some have even referred to her as the crone goddess as well."

"Yes, there were a few examples of this. Remember Wendelin the Weird? Burnt upwards to 47 times in different disguises."

"Professor, why do muggles call it fairy tales in the first place?" Cass asked. There weren't even any fairies in most stories and yet they're still called fairy tales

BearyMay 10-19-2010 11:17 AM

Hearing a classmate's question, Dianna to couldn't help but wonder.
"Yeah, why do they call it fairy tales? Is it because faeries are the ones who bring magic in these muggle stories?" Dianna asked as she lowered her hand.

"Unlike legends, fairy tales take place in once upon a time and not during actual time. They are usually thought to be rather far-fetched by the muggles. Who would ever thinking such things were possible, but we all know better don't we. Not all fairy tales have faeries in them, but they usually involve magic, enchantments, or magical creatures."

Glancing at the time, Sylvie folded her hands in her lap. "Now class, we have discussed possible examples of connects between stories that muggles thought of as just tales and what we know to be actual facts. Do we have any other questions before we more on to the homework?"

Lauralicious 10-19-2010 02:31 PM

Fee thought about any questions but found herself well informed.
"Nope i guess not",she shook her head,"at least for me."

Wonderstruck 10-19-2010 03:58 PM

Alice looked over her notes that she had taken throughout the class.

"I think I was following on everything we discussed," Alice said with a smile. "No questions for me."

brelovesweasleys 10-19-2010 04:07 PM

"I'm pretty sure I got it professor!" She was being happy, giddy almost. Because she had things to tell the professor, news that is. She was SOOO waiting for class to be over, then she could tell her!

Roselyn 10-19-2010 06:43 PM

Huuuh?

No, Evelyn was awake! Well, NOW she was. The mention of homework had her eyes shooting open and staring at the floor which her head was almost laying upon. Eh.

Sitting up, and rubbing her tired eyes, she nodded her head sleepily before....shaking her head. No, she didn't have any questions. For one, she was still trying to get a hold of her surroundings. Hehe. Oops.

"No." Hmm yes, no. No questions. And...No homework would have been good too.

BanaBatGirl 10-19-2010 07:06 PM

Questions... questions... yes, Fletcher had a question.

"Can we have #cupcakes and brownies at all of our future classes, professsssor?" he asked, managing to remember his manners and ask before he stuffed another dessert down his gullet.

Cass smiled as she question was answered, then she shook her head "Nope, no more questions from me professor."

Erindipity 10-20-2010 01:08 AM

Lexi giggled when Fletcher spoke. It was kind of difficult to NOT picture him as the adorable little toddler that he was upon exiting Task 2. So precious. Finn probably wouldn't appreciate it but she just wanted to HUG the boy for being so adorable. Indeed.

Tearing her attention away she looked at Professor Welton and said, "Yes, ma'am, I think we are ready for the homework."

Salander shifted on the desk where he sat, when one of the pillow behind him fell. Just as he reached out for it he looked up quickly when the Professor sounded like she was about to wrap up the class Eh.... but what I really wanted to know was-- who's the more powerful Wizard, Gandalf or Dumbledore? Not to mention that they look alike. Alas the lad shrugged and just added to Fletcher's question "....And perhaps some Grilled cheese sandwiches or even Philly cheesesteak too Professor?" he asked and gave her that imploring look ...So that I can also eat something?

BearyMay 10-20-2010 10:30 AM

Dianna nodded to the Professor. "Nope I guess I have nothing else to ask." she said.
She wanted to hear what the homework was about.

James, who had grown quiet during the lesson, had a slightly uncomfortable expression on his face. Inquisitive maybe. But... suppressed. He didn't have much to say, not now, but then, the class felt.... incredibly basic to him. He frowned as the professor began to wrap up the lesson, the furrow obvious on his brow.

He still didn't say anything though. Nope.

"I think I could possible work something out, but only if you all ready want. I couldn't what to think you only attend my lessons for my baked goods."

No, she wasn't bribing the students at all with sweets.

Letting out a small laugh, Sylvie shook her head slightly. "Philly cheesesteak sandwiches might be a bit messy, but I'll keep that in mind. Maybe a picnic might be fitting?"

Yes, a picnic would be nice for a future lesson. Storing that idea away, she glanced around for any final questions before raising from her cushion again. Pulling her wand from its holster, she gave it a flick at the board in the front of the class room.

"Again, if any of you want help or have any questions with the homework, please don't hesitate to come visit me. My office door is always open to you and you never know, I might have some treats for you. No promises though," she smiled. "Now, if you want more treats, do help yourself before you leave and enjoy the rest of your day. Class dismissed."

Now that was a fun lesson, wasn't it? Moving up toward the table, she began to tidy up again.

mellamaet 10-21-2010 03:25 AM

Cass stood up from her cushion and took a brownie from the plate "Thanks for lesson professor." she said before she turned and left the room.

brelovesweasleys 10-21-2010 04:59 AM

Once the professor had discussed homework and all she dismissed everyone. Some people got up to leave, Rae wasn't leaving yet, She had news... Walking right up to Professor Welton with a rare smile on she was ready to tell the news. "HEY! Professor guess what?!?!?!" C'mon! Guess! Guess!

Sylvie offered a smile as she bid her student good bye. "Your welcome Cass, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself." Really that's all she wanted. A lesson where the student enjoyed themselves, even if it was moderately.

Moving around to gather all the pillows, she stopped and looked to the Slytherin before her. "Hello Rae, um you had fun in class and brownies are yummy?" Really she wasn't at all sure what she was guessing but the brownies were yummy after all.

BearyMay 10-22-2010 09:52 AM

Packing up all her belongings, Dianna first went to the desk where the brownies were.
"I had an awesome time Professor!" she smiled before heading off.

"Oh... Yes the sweets were delicious. I enjoyed the lesson... But that wasn't the answer." Rae paused for a few moments of excited silence. Maybe Professor will remember now... Riiigggghhtt? "I got Professor Lafay's permission! We're going surfing!" Key word. We. After all... Welton suggested it, so she IS joining in. Duh...

Wonderstruck 10-22-2010 04:29 PM

Upon the dismissal of class Alice collected up her things and grabbed one more brownie for the road.

"Thanks for the great lesson Professor Welton, and of course the yummy snacks!"

Giving a wave to all the other exiting students, Sylvie blinked slowly. "Professor Lafay said yes?" Now that was rather unexpected for sure. "Well, if she approved it then you should all be able to have your surfing fun. Now, see it wasn't all that terrible in asking her was it?" Truth be told, she wouldn't have personally been about to do such a thing when she was a student, but the students now were just made of a different stock now. "I see she didn't kill you or anything so maybe talking to your head of house won't so hard now." She was still very much trying to wrap her head about it now.
