"Why would I talk to her?" he asked looking at Destiny. "She's on a date." Seeing your ex while on a date with someone else probably wasn't a good idea. "I don't think she'd want to see me. I mean, think about it. Would you like it if I showed up trying to talk to you while you were in the middle of a date?" he asked.
Plus, talking was the farthest thing from his mind at the moment. He would much rather do something else. Something like throwing wool bombs at the guy next to Marie.
Blink.
Destiny had no idea what Carter was talking about. Why would she want to make Sherlock run for his money? The dude was old and he probably couldn't run that fast. His money would roll down the sewer and he'd be poor! "Riiiight." she drawled, giving him a look that clearly said 'I do not understand your muggle language', or maybe it wasn't that clear, but yeah, he'd get the point. "I'm sure the possibility is there, if you're not me." Of course it was possible. And maybe others had. But right at this moment Nia didn't see how she would, especially in one evening. Because if they got bored of talking, there was still the dancing bit to do. Or actually eating at the food table. Or she might even persuade him into the Champions seating area eventually. Though that last one was unlikely.
"Nobody?" She watched him look around the room, and was surprised he didn't pick out anyone. "Well if you do...let me know," she said with a small smile.
She smiled and nodded. She felt exactly the same. Who knew what someone might discover about you by reading your thoughts - even if it were unwittingly and innocently done. One's thoughts should be treated closely guarded secrets, as an accidental slip could ruin lots of things. Relationships echoed in her mind. She felt a guilty lurch of her stomach momentarily as she passed the thought to the back of her mind. Why did feel so bad about that? It was in her head. Nobody else knew. And no-one was ever going to know.
"I'm not sure," she admitted, now slightly nervous but hiding it. Because he wouldn't read her thoughts, right? Just her...blushes. And body language. For her around Raiden, that'd give away a decent amount, she was sure. That compared to her in class or on the pitch, say. "I'd be interested to know what you read..." she answered slowly, "But...I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable." Either of them. It was subtle way of covering her own personal thoughts. Whoever or whatever they were about.
"Mmhmm," she said, a grin her face. "And I know just the person..." She winked. Not that she generally wanted wings. They might get in the way in general daily use. But if she did...well, she knew whose spell work she trusted the most to do it.
"Normal is normal. No more, no less." He didn't get her point, did he? It hadn't been very well argued, admittedly, but still. He was purposely being awkward. And this was now opening up the discussion of what was normal. Hmm.
"I guess I should just take it then," she murmured, tucking back her fringe. Her blonde hair contrasted with the pink warmth of her face. She almost put her hair back where it was to hide it. "Because, I can't argue with the fact that you're smart. Or that you don't lie. Or your self confidence in being correct." She nibbled her lip. "But I don't think I agree. Nor others necessarily."
It was a shame her head dictated her heart, really. Because otherwise, this 18 year old might actually be able to accept a compliment.

But she didn't want to judge, especially as now the attention was back on her. "Um, hi," she said hesitantly as her hand was shaken. "Nice to meet you Adam." Lets get back to shrinking Kurumi, why don't we? Grayson nodded at Kurumi as she repeated the plan. "Well, half of the vial for now. But yeah. Lifting up, then setting me down before anyone gets squished." Or dropped from really high up. "I can do it," she added, to Adam, as he tried to step in. She wasn't sure how well it was going to work anyway, so it was better she only risk herself.
Then Salander had spoken, and she turned to look at him gratefully. At least he agreed with her. Even if it could sound sort of wrong. Like he would rather she be at risk than Adam. But she wasn't about to think that. "Exactly." Too much potion and Kurumi might end up mini!Kurumi. All her instructions would just be easier if she was following them to begin with. She looked askance at teh chair, though. "So you'd levitate the chair?" She didn't exactly know how that would work. Or if she was supposed to stand on the chair or sit on it. Although at least, as long as he could hold long enough, she shouldn't have to worry about Kurumi shrinking while she was still on her hand. Either way, it was dangerous and scary. Luckily that didn't keep her from doing things most of the time. She just wanted to make Kurumi all better.

Grayson felt a bit guilty over making poor Giant!Kurumi sit there with her hand on the floor while they were all discussing options, but if she had a possibility of avoiding any chance of squishing her if she started shrinking with her still on her hand, she was willing to take it. No matter how dubious it might be, or how dangerous. She wanted to fix it all, but she also didn't want to get herself hurt. Or get in trouble, which made the whole situation a bit tense. The longer they took, the likelier they'd get noticed. Even though she really didn't know why they hadn't gotten noticed already, as giant students would have seemed pretty obvious to her. And she'd even planned for something like this to happen.
Not the tears, though, and as Kurumi had spoken again, sounding like she was struggling not to cry again, Grayson glanced at her in concern before looking back at Salander. Speaking would be good right now, and she let out a breath as he answered her question. Even sounding, and looking, like he was confident he could accomplish it all. "You better not," she said with a tiny grin, teasing a little bit, "If you did, I'd be forced to take the points away from when you'd saved me earlier in the term." But then he'd cast at the chair, and she looked at it floating there for a moment. It still looked pretty precarious. More so than any of her previous climbing incidents. "Well, I guess Operation Normal-Sized is in action now," she said, randomly giving a name to what they were doing as she squared her shoulders a bit, preparing herself. "Kurumi, I think you can pick up your hand now." And she stepped forward, climbing nimbly onto the floating chair. Making sure she had a tight grip on the chair with one hand, and a tight grip on her vial with the other. "All the way to the top," she then said to Salander, stifling an almost hysterical giggle at the silliness. She could think about that again once she'd fixed Kurumi.

With Grayson taking a seat, the added weight lowered the levitated chair just a bit. Shifting his legs for a firmer stance, Salander started to raise the chair "Up you go!"
And up the chair went, slowly and tilting slightly backwards, the backrest between Grayson and giant!Kurumi. "Get ready Grayson..." he called out from below, just as the chair neared Kurumi's face.

A bit oblivious to what was really going on at the food tables since he was on cloud nine at the moment, Noel stopped in front of the enormous amount of food, searching out what Cosette had requested first.
Adjusting his shirt, he couldn't quite take in how much food there was. He was pleased though, that there were familiar dishes to him, which meant he didn't have to keep eating the British food. Thank Merlin for that. He'd rather be fine for the rest of the night.
Grabbing a plate, the French man piled it with samples of all the bread and cheese since he had no idea what kind the lovely blond enjoyed before getting a plate of his own. Eh, he couldn't fit all of what he wanted on one plate. Dilemma!!
Carter looked up. "Oh, hey mate. Nice costume." he said to his fellow Gryffindor.
And now Patroclus was staring at Marie. Yeah... hopefully he wouldn't bring that up. Carter wasn't really in the mood to talk about that.
"So. Did you happen to bring a lucky lady tonight?" he asked looking around. Someone had to have shown up with a date, right?
Dragging his eyes from Marie, whom he instantly decided he was going to have a stern chat with, Mr Lawson would have wanted him too, after all Patroclus had been appointed chief carer for the She-Snakes now that the Lawsonator had returned to music, Patroclus could tell that Carter didn't want him to bring up the girl so he just smiled at his friend,
"Nah, I am riding solo!" Patroclus grinned, it was the first time the boy had realised that he was infact rather alone in the ladies department, but he didn't mind so much.
Anyway who needed a date, when they had Destiny to entertain them.

Shaking those thoughts from her head, she grinned at his noticeable blushing. Must. Not. Giggle! Destiny Shepard does NOT giggle! "You're welcome!" she gave a thumbs up, that might have looked weird considering all the things she had in her hand at the moment.
"INDEED!" she exclaimed, holding her magnifying glass back up to her eye. "Detective Destiny, at your service." Or something like that. She, once again, had no idea what she was talking about. She resisted the urge to giggle once more as he looked her up and down, but the topic of food being brought up saved her.
"I haven't eaten anything..except for the chocolate." But he wasn't going get any of that.
Uh Oh.
If Patroclus had learnt anything from being Friends with Destiny, it was that her plus chocolate meant, a more than usual hypo Detective, but he didn't really mind, he was in a crazy mood himself, so someone to share the crazies with would be fun!
"Ooooo, Chocolate awesome...........any scraps for Patador? I shouldn't but I will!"
He needed to get energized! For Patroclus was the Lord of the Dance.

"Big honor? I uh... Didn't think of it like that I guess." I mean seriously, they were best friends, just cause he won it was an honor? Well maybe to anyone else, like one of those fangirls it was an honor. "Well I guess it is. He's still Fletcher to me." Just Fletcher with a lot of money. Hehe, he knew Rae when she was poor and now she has a lot of money too. Where is he? Rae glanced back to the dance floor to see him still with the librarian, which she again thought strange but didn't mind. "He asked a teacher to dance." They did arrive together though, and she did plan on spending most of her time with him tonight.
"Are you here with... A certain gryffie?" Rae took a guess, though she already knew she was right.
Ehh, the thought of making actual clothes to wear was not appealing at all for the Slytherin. That required work and time. Work and time which she used for her studies and daily runs. Not...this. Then again, she had to admit, her outfit was pretty nice. New found talent?
...
No. "Maybe..." she shrugged her shoulders before taking up another cherry tomato. They were quite good. Chuckling, she nodded her head, not really believing Rae would have thought of it as a 'big honor' and such. "I know. You two are friends and all." That kitchen party was enough to show that. Heck, she didn't know the two were friends until then. And if she did well...then she forgot. There was a lot on her mind this year.
Meep! They could ask professors to dance!? O___O She could have asked Truebridge to dance if he was here!?"That wouldn't be awkward at all." Dancing with a professor? It was bad enough that you could run into them during the summer time when out of school. Who knew they had a life that didn't revolve around THEM and lesson plans?
Pretty much having the ability to live off of two small cherry tomatoes for the next few hours, the Slytherin had enough of the food. Well, she was supposed to get a plate, but why? She was already full. "Oh umm..." Teehee. Josh. "Yea, I suppose." Suppose!? Pffft. Of COURSE she was here with a certain Gryffie. Unless... "Wait, which Gryffie are you thinking of?"

OK, now or never. Kurumi slowly raised her hand, keeping it as stead as she could until it was even with her face. She tried not to breath too heavily for few of blowing the poor Ravenclaw right off her hand. Blinking her giant violet eyes, she smiled weakly at the two. Wow...the vial was really small...could it's contents really make her normal again? The liquid didn't look any larger than the size of her pinky fingernail.
"Cheers?" she said as she slowly opened her mouth. Please let this work!

Grayson tensed a little as the chair dipped under her weight. Even though she was tiny, it made her worry this plan wouldn't work. And she'd fall off the chair and end up with twenty million broken bones or something. But then Salander had started raising her up, and she took a deep breath. She needed to focus on the goal, which was getting the potion in Kurumi and hopefully making her not a sad giant anymore. Thinking about things going wrong was bad, and not generally something she did. Which was probably how she'd gotten into this mess, but that thought was distracting her too. So she made sure to look at Kurumi, before blinking as it reached the top. The Gryffie's face. That wasn't as scary as she thought, but there was still the delivery.
And at least Kurumi's hand wasn't still on the ground, waiting. Shifting her weight as carefully as she could, she tried to turn so she was facing Kurumi. Concentrating on not losing her balance, and keeping her one-handed grip on the back of the chair, she quickly flicked the tiny cork out of the vial. She'd have to be careful on the way down, since she was still only planning on giving half the potion right now, but she also didn't want to let go of the chair. Then finally she leaned forward, toward Giant!Kurumi's opening mouth. Reaching out with the hand holding the vial, she tipped it slowly until half of her shrinking solution poured out and into the waiting mouth. Now they just had to hope it worked, but even if it didn't completely turn the Gryffie girl back to normal, at least she should be littler on the second try.
Turning back to glance down at Salander, she spoke. "Okay. Done." Now get me down, somehow.

The boy resisted a grin. The possibility was present were the other party not Nia? It was nice to know that she didn't think she would ever tire of him being around, but he wasn't too sure of the truthfulness of the statement. It was quite possible for anyone to get tired of anyone else. It might just take her longer, heh.
"We'll see, I suppose," he said softly, shrugging. If she tired of his presence. If she never got bored of him, then... well she'd be stuck having him as a friend for a long time to come, at least. Not really a bad thing, as he was a good friend, of course. "If I see anyone I want to bother, I'll be sure to let you know."
Hmmmm. Now that was an interesting reaction. The young man's amusement would have been more evident were it not for the mask; as it was, merely the carefully dampened smirk was visible. Did she think he could, now? He leaned forward, face very close to hers, and let himself stare inquisitively at her eyes.
Faking some Legilimency. Because he didn't know exactly how it worked, and she might not either. Heh. He was silent for a long moment, just looking intently, before his eyes behind the mask went uneven with a smile.
"You don't really want me to, do you?" he asked, teasing but not allowing his voice to let that be known. "You wouldn't want me poking around in there, finding out what you were really thinking of."
Because somehow, he really wasn't sure he wanted to know. The idea of sneaking into Nia's thoughts, and possibly finding out things that he didn't want to... who she liked, and all the other well-kept secrets that everyone carried from day to day. He didn't want to know.
But he'd pretend he could know it, if he wanted to.
The problem with this proximity was that he was closer than he would usually be, and the pinkness in her face was fascinating. He didn't immediately straighten up or back away, because he was too busy watching her blush.
"You should agree with me," he murmured quietly. "If you can't argue with me, then I'm obviously right, and it should just be accepted."
Especially in this case. Anyone disagreeing with him was clearly insane. Or, Nia. Who was far too modest.

And he was half tempted to splash some of the mystery that was still in his hair on Destiny.
Hehe, she probably wouldn't like that.
....
That was her best fish face? Eek. "That freaky thing is how they breathe." Or drink. Or whatever fish did.
"You know, not all dates are like that." he said. Dancing was totally a date. Even if Destiny didn't know it was.
He then turned to face Destiny again. "Exactly." he said. Destiny had proven his point. Besides, Marie looked like she was having fun.
"It looks like you are sweating." Who goes to a ball all wet? Sure, this was a costume ball and people were supposed to get into their character and all, but arriving wet? He would probably be getting sick by the end of the night, and yes, Destiny would laugh. And he deserved to get sick! He had actually used the water from the lake? "Eww! Do you know what is in that lake?"
A giant squid! And a giant squid that left giant..nevermind. She was too disgusted to even finish the thought.
SCOFF!
Carter was, once again, tell Destiny, the MASTER of animal facts, what the fish were doing. "I know what they are doing, I just said it was freaky!" Imagine if everyone at Hogwarts walked around the halls opening and closing their mouths even when they weren't talking. It'd be FREAKY!
Destiny supposed Carter was right. No matter how much she wished he wasn't. "Actually I did not know that, so thank you for telling me."
O_____O
Carter had danced with her at the last ball which meant..
..THEY WERE TOTALLY ON A DATE!
She glanced back over her shoulder at Marie and the Violator. Hopefully Marie didn't know she had dated Carter right in front of her face.
Blink.
What exactly? Destiny had no idea what he was talking about. Maybe he had no idea either, so he had said 'exactly' to act like he knew and it would confuse her so much that she wouldn't ask if he really knew of not!
Brains like that..the boy could be a Ravenclaw.

Bahahaha!!
Patador. Destiny had decided right then and there she was going to call him that name for now on, and, since she liked his nickname soooo much, she WAS going to share her chocolate with him. He would be the only one, though, so no one better get any thoughts in asking.
But it seemed Carter had other ideas. A roll? Really!? Who would want to eat bread? Grabbing it from him, she clonked him over the head with it before shoving it back into his hand. "Patador CAN have chocolate!" she said, and narrowing her eyes in Carter's direction, she held out the bowl towards Patador.
He just better not get greedy.

"We will," Nia said with a nod. "Because, of course, there's always the option that you'll get bored of me first." Yes, they hadn't discussed that one. And it was just as likely, even if he said there weren't any others he wanted to spend time with. At least now she knew she shouldn't feel bad if she ended up monopolizing the Champion all evening.
As he leant forward, Nia's eyes widened. What was he doing? She blinked rapidly, as he was staring directly at her eyes. Which meant she was struggling to look anywhere but his. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It was just odd, and she felt strange under his masked gaze.
The dimple of a frown appeared between her eyes. Didn't you need a wand for legilimency? She wasn't sure. She'd never seen it done, and it hadn't been her first priority to study. But, she certainly hadn't felt a presence in her mind - if she was supposed to, of course. Hmm. Whatever, his silence and intense staring was starting to get a bit intimidating.
As he broke the stare, Nia reached up and ran her fingers through her hair. "I'd be doubtful over what you might find," Nia answered uncertainly. Had he just read her mind? She was dubious, but at the same time didn't want to underestimate him. She decided to go along along with it for now. "And yet...you did. Or tried to. So, did you find anything interesting?"
He hadn't moved away, and was well aware of the colour of her cheeks. Was he watching them? She willed the blood away, but knew from past experience it'd be a lost cause. Especially if he was going to stay that close and continue to say such things.
"Interesting argument," she replied softly. "But I'm not sure I can agree. And yet, I can't say you're right either. Which leaves me on very rocky ground indeed."
The... what? What, Nia? That idea took him by surprise, because Raiden was pretty sure that had never happened before.
"I never get tired of people," he protested softly, a look somewhere between shock and mock outrage taking over his face. "I enjoy your company far too much to ever get tired of it."
His closeness had an obvious effect on her, and he tried to pretend that it didn't amuse him. A weirdly warm feeling of pride was trying to spread through him, and he did his best to ignore it. He had no reason to be proud that she felt uncomfortable with him this close. He should have felt equally as awkward. And yet somehow, it didn't feel as weird as it should have.
He was, however, also beginning to feel the painful gnawing of guilt, and he couldn't for the life of him figure out why. He hadn't done anything wrong, had he?
"Doubtful in what way?" There was a slight bump of surprise in his words. "I found many an interesting thing. Though maybe it's best if I pretend I hadn't? That way, you can keep your secrets... well, secret."
Or at least think that she was. But he was being very Slytherin at that moment, knowing that anyone might admit to a secret in this situation should they be buying into what he'd just done. The question was, did Nia buy into it enough to do just that? Hehe.
"You can't make up your mind." He leaned back, putting the slightest bit more distance between his face and hers. "Your modesty won't let you agree with me, because you think you're not anything special, but you also know that I won't let you outright disagree with me, because I'm right and you're wrong in this case."
"You doth protest, and yet that's exactly you thought I would do..." Get tired of his company. She shook her head with a laugh. "You don't believe I can be immune, but you are?" She winked, teasingly. "Especially since enjoying each other's company is most successful when it is a mutual enjoyment."
He was just there. There. So close. Much closer, and he'd feel the beat of her heart. Was he trying to tempt her again? If he was, she wasn't sure she'd be able to fight it.
"Many ways," she answered mysteriously. She might have been projecting false thoughts, for example. They'd be doubtful. Or maybe she was worried about what might be found. Or it could just be his methods. Or...a mixture of all three.
"You did?" She looked at him curiously, unsure what to make of that statement. It was intriguing, and despite her dubiousness, she wanted to hear more. "Secret between us, you mean?" She tilted her head thoughtfully. "Maybe you could hint at what you saw, just so I know which of my secrets you now share?" She wasn't letting on whether she believed him or not. Not was she gonna to let anything spill without care. Who knew what he was really upto?
Nia shrugged, not agreeing with his statement, but not against it either. And as he leant back, she let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. "You know me too well," she said finally. He'd just summarised it all in that sentence. "You're too stubborn to stand down, and I don't want to believe it. And how can I be wrong against myself?" She paused. "And yet...in my heart I know you're right."
Dilemma!!
Rene walked over to the food table. This wasnt like the food we would get on a regular base so she grabbed a plate grabbed some food as she mad her way down the table.
Out of the corner of her eye she saw one of the champions gathering a plate load of food. He was looking like he wanted more food but she was unsure that it all was going to fit on his plate. Staring at him for a moment then she decide to talk to him. Maybe he would talk back. She hadnt got any luck in that department tonight and really was getting tired of being what most would call a LOSER.
"Hello, My name is Rene." She said smiling "You must be hungry.'' Jesting to his overflowing plate and giving a slight giggle.

Well, at least the taste was pleasant enough. Perhaps there was even a hint of raspberry. Kurumi made sure to swallow every last drop and licked her lips for good measure. Still, she could not bring herself to open her eyes as the changes began taking place. It felt like riding in an elevator going up or down and her stomach felt all weird and a little fuzzy. The air felt more crowded, if that was possible, but she still couldn't bring herself to look.
...
well, maybe just a little peak...
Kurumi's eyes fluttered open and she saw...the table! And it didn't look like a child's toy! It had worked! Although, she felt like maybe she was an inch or two taller than she had been before, but that was much better than being 50 feet over one's normal size.

Mia ran from one end of the food table to the other trying to decide what it was she wanted. She was soooooo hungreh!!
And maybe a little hyped up from the dancing and the jelly. Which thankfully she was now all nice and clean. She had wanted to get into her PJ's but decided instead to just clean up what she was wearing. No point in getting dressed up in a costume only to wear it for a couple of hours.
Hah. Nia. Of course he was immune. Of course he wouldn't be able to get tired of her, or pretty much anyone else that came his way.
"I've got to be immune to something, don't I?" he said playfully. "You can steal my will with ease, the only logical answer to that is to have my be immune to getting bored of someone's presence."
Doubtful in many ways... hmm. Did she doubt he could read her mind? Or did she doubt that he'd find anything worth finding? And if it was the latter... did she think she could withhold thoughts, or did she actually believe that she had nothing in her head worth finding out? Nia's self-worth seemed ridiculously low sometimes.
"You can't hide your thoughts from me, Nia," he murmured, grinning and leaning forward only the slightest bit. Not as close as he had just been, but closer than he was. It was an automatic thing; somewhere in him, there was a need to see her blush, and her reaction to his proximity, again. "Much as you might want to."
Oh yes. The man in the mask was definitely dressed appropriately. He was outright being the darkness to her light, now.
"Something important," he hinted, eyes impassive behind the mask. He didn't deceive people often, but this was one case in which he was making a playful effort at it. But really, she surely didn't believe him. And if she did have a big secret, she wouldn't tell him without first suggesting smaller, more allowable secrets. So it wasn't like he was really doing anything wrong... "'tis my secret, now."
So... she was letting her head get in the way of her accepting compliments that she knew were true? How silly. The young man frowned behind his mask, nose wrinkling in a way that was barely obvious. Why would she still fight with him when she clearly knew?
"Sometimes you've got to stop letting your head get in the way." He nodded knowingly, obviously an expert at everything and wise beyond his years. At eighteen, he was quite decidedly in the know. "If you know your head's wrong, then let your heart do a little bit of convincing. It's not that hard."

And people thought Destiny was weird. Really, they must not have met Carter. "Did you figure that one out before or after you went in the lake?" Because if it was after, he was stupider than Destiny as well. Well, it wasn't like Gryffindor's were known for their brains. Look at Rex.. The lake had water..PFFFT!
"It doesn't matter what fish think. They only have a memory span of five seconds, so no matter what they think, they will just forget about it." In five seconds. Perhaps she should have a little chat with Professor Ruffles. Find out how to do that Transfiguration spell and turn Carter into a fish. Then he would be able to test that theory of his out. Of course they would have to work fast..the five second memory thing.
Sweet Merlin!
No wonder Marie was so mad at her for spending so much time with Carter. They were secretly dating! This was bad, very bad! She was just about to run away, but Carter spoke and..phew. She couldn't remember him ever saying they were on dates, so Marie must have had other reasons to be mad. Eeeh, she'd probably be mad if she seen her and her EX speaking. Slowly, she turned around so that she was sorta hiding behind Carter and Patador.
Can't be seen!

Oops!
Was the roll that hard? Apparently it was since Carter said ouch. People just don't go around saying ouch for no reason! And what was it for? "I felt like doing it."
What!? Carter wasn't that wet where the roll was not edible! Taking it out of his hand once more, she flipped it over and shoved it back. "There. Eat the dry part..or you know, get another one."
They were right there!

Nia shook her head with a shrug of her shoulders, toying with the idea. "I guess. Though that still doesn't expain why you think I couldn't be." She smiled. "And it's kinda ironic, since with a lack of will I could make you not be able to get tired of me even if you wanted to. Though given immunity, I wonder which would win should I desire the converse?" Her control over his will, or his immunity? Hmm.
Just in case he could read her mind, Nia tried cover up some of her deepest thoughts, instead focusing on the letters tucked away in her trunk. They were secret - but if should find out, then it wouldn't be the end of the world. For all the fact it would probably make her more nervous, she'd appreciate his support too. Far better he know about those, than other thoughts that had run through her mind.
How did one know if someone was reading your mind, anyway? Was there a a 'feeling' of another presence?
"I can try," she answered, though there was a hint of doubt in her voice. He'd leant forward again. Not quite as near to her as before - but still pretty close. He should really stop doing that. A nervousness spread through her, and a tint of pink came to her cheeks. Why though? Just because he was standing so close? It didn't happen when she hugged him.
Maybe it was the whole character. Him, all in black. Masked. Almost sinister as he was trying to discover her darkest secrets. Or any secret. She swallowed slowly.
"Lots of things are important." His eyes weren't giving anything away, so she had absolutely no idea what he was up to. He really was in character. But did that mean he was just playing with her? She assumed he was, was still. "So you've stolen my own secret? That's a bit unfair...now how am I meant to know which one you've taken, if I've no longer got it?" Or maybe she did still have it, and just didn't know it. "What is your game, masked man?"
Perhaps she should follow her heart more often. Sometimes she did - when deciding to go for Pro Quidditch over a less uncertain career path. Throwing away her brains as it were. But usually it was her head that won out. She favoured knowledge and logic more generally. "That could be a pretty dangerous game," she answered, trying not to think of one particular example. "And my head isn't always wrong - it's just not always right either." She nibbled on the inside of her lip. "And when do you know which to go with? Head or heart? Both can be equally right or wrong. Or could be protecting you from something bad."
Placing the first, rather heavy now, plate on the table, his blue eyes scanned the rest of the food, seeing what he liked and wanted.
That is, until someone seemed to be speaking to him. Him? "Bonjour Rene." he smiled, his eyes flickering over to the clafouti on the table. Yes, it had been spotted! "Oui." Nodding, and missing the gesture, it took him a moment to realize that she may have been referring to the plate of food already stacked up. "Oh! Oh, non. I mean, yes, I am hungry, but not all of zis iz for me."
Oh Merlin, no. He didn't eat that much. Or, he may if he was going to be dancing tonight.
She had gotten his attention. One ups. Her soft brown eyes looked over his costume. "Nice Costume."
"Its perfectly okay you need your appitite, after the challenges, you still have to face dancing tonight." She gave a girly smile "You havent seen nothing yet. Unless your a good dancer"
She looked out at the dance floor so many people were enjoying the dancing with there dates. She had come with friends but they were dancing. She looked back at the champion. He was still looking at the food table.
"So were is your date." Maybe if he didnt have one he might want a dance with a pretty girl ME.
