"I think I'd feel silly," he said truthfully. Braids. Braids just weren't one of the things he ever thought he'd have on his head. He'd feel goofy, and he was pretty sure at least one person would think the same. That, and he wasn't sure if his hair would really stay long for that much longer. If it were in the way, he'd rather just cut it all off. It was longer than it had ever been in the time he spent at Hogwarts. "Guys can have a lot of things, but that doesn't mean it'll look good on me." Like the cow costume. That was a guy, and that wouldn't look good on him either. "Easier said than done, really. Peripheral vision is messed up by it, so every time I try to look at things I have to turn my head. And I remember that it's there. Heh." But he knew what she was saying. Just ignore it. He'd try to. Hopefully it would work. Couldn't be walking around touching it all night, or it would come off. It was an honour, huh? The boy grinned, the most expression that had been seen on his face so far that night, and squeezed her arm again. Silly Nia. "The honour is mine, Miss Newtington. I'm lucky to have an angel to spend the night with." And then she was looking at him, all shock and horror and that expression, and he laughed. He couldn't help it, he just... laughed. She was ridiculously cute sometimes, really. "Very. When certain people do certain things, I find it very hard to tell them no." With Nia, it was pretty much merely existing. She was, after all, the reason he was at this ball. If they weren't going together, he would've just spent the night studying for his NEWTs. Ah. Well, if she was going to be dramatic, then he could, too. One hand pressed over his chest, palm flat against his jacket, and he let out a sigh. "Ahhhh, there you go again, doing it. If you keep it up, I'll have no free will whatsoever, you know." |

Oh my Gilderoy! The awkwardness was back! Whatever was happening between JD and Ellie he didn't want to find out, nor being dragged into it, that's why he kept his opinions to himself. Quote:
Then the smile widened even more, "You're on! I'll remind you in case you forget" that would be awesome! But it will have to be a very good costume, by the way. Quote:
The boy wondered for a moment if Ellie had refused to dance with the boy because he was Peter Pan or because it was JD. Surely it was because of Peter Pan, right? Which made him wonder even more if she'd dance with a mini Kingsley...but he wasn't asking. Yet. |
Simon saw Treyen and JD, this could be fun, food and them two, no he'd better not do what he was thinking otherwise he would be in trouble for causing a foodfight, Simon wanted to hit them both with food but he decided that instead he would just talk to them so he went up to them. "Hello you two." Simon smiled. |
Quote:
"One of the best," she agreed with a nod before taking a bite of the chocolate. Not just with transfigurations, but he was good just to talk to as well. All this talk of Kingsley and Treyen's costume made her want to talk to the man now. She would have to find him later. "Maybe before then..." her voice trailed as she poked the ruffles again. She wondered if the real Kingsley would let her poke his ruffles. It was kinda fun, though she doubted it. "Yes!" He got it! Her costume was from the movie since they didn't really have one for the book hobbits, but it was still awesome. "This is from the movie," she explained after taking a sip of her pumpkin juice. Her own expression sombered, bright eyes dimming slightly when he mentioned the tree. That was very sad, but her cheerful expression returned when he mentioned how they won. "...And all was well." Quote:
Grinning, she waved her chocolate filled hand at the boy, attempting to figure out what he was... "Peter Pan? That's awesome." And totally made sense why he was covered in leaves. "I think you'd have a better chance of beating him with a wand." She nodded a bit, thinking back to the movies and books. Quote:
Sending her grin over to Ellie, she stuffed her mouth with more chocolate and pumpkin juice. Semi-oblivious to all the conversation they were having and the awkwardness between JD and Ellie. Completely oblivious, really. |
last post for a few hours, gotta head to work :( Still looking confused at Ellie, he wished she'd talk, so he at least knew what was going on. "If I got my school robes would you dance then?" he asked seriously. SPOILER!!: quotes Turning back to Treyen, he smiled nodding "Yep, it's a disney one." Muggle movies were awesome, well then again he'd grown up with them. Looking up as another person came over "Simon!" Clapping him on the shoulder, he grins "Where ye been?" He'd not seen much of the kid since last term, and here the term was almost over already! "Thank you. I couldn't agree more." he adds chuckling to Arya. |
"Awww," Nia said with a sniff. And she'd so love to braid his hair. Hers was a bit short for the purpose at the moment. "You wouldn't know til you'd tried it..." she pointed out, rather too late for it to really be of any help. Admittedly, Nia hadn't thought of the whole limited range of sight thing. Especially peripheral vision. Which would definitely be weird for her, because she seemed to be able to sense quite a lot of movement from the corner of her eye. Probably well trained for avoiding bludgers. "Just...don't let us crash whilst dancing, mmm?" Because that really would draw attention to them. In a badddd way. Nia didn't not want to be remembered as the one that caused the literal pile up on the dance floor. Was he? He was. That, ladies and gentlemen, was a grin. The first of the night. And an arm squeeze. Any remaining doubts started to ebb away, and Nia relaxed somewhat. ...and his reply made her beam. It was all formal and proper, and Nia loved it. It appealed to her inner classic-romantic novel reader. If her blushing hadn't been obvious before, it was now. She took hold of some of her dress, and did a little curtsey. As she moved, her wings jiggled forward and back slightly, almost as if they were trying to fly. They took a while to settle as she straightened back up. The horror! He was now laughing. At her, the damsel in (fake) distress. Except, she couldn't keep the amusement from her face either. Because she was glad it had worked. And because, it was rather infectious...and Nia's poor acting skills would never be able to hide it inside. She did blink a few times, however as he spoke. Hard to say no? Hehe. Maybe she could be more of a flirt than she realised. But with him, it came so naturally. Ooh, he was putting up the dramatic stakes too. It was the sigh that did it. And the thought that her eyelid fluttering would render him a puppet of sorts. A little giggle escaped her. She bit her lip to prevent anymore. Because he was so good in character. The dark and the light, the good and bad. And just then, she felt the rest of the evening could be awesome. "My my," she started, pondering whether to batter her eyelids once more. Just for effect. But then, it wouldn't be the same if she wanted to do it later. "Dark, masked man. You shouldn't give up your will so easily. The night is young, afterall." |
Behind the mask, Raiden raised an eyebrow. There were lots of things he wouldn't know until he tried them. Some of them, he was definitely not willing to try. Having her braid his hair sounded just as ludicrous in his head as he was willing to bet it would look. "If I were to let you, and it looked weird, you know I'd probably take it all apart, right?" If he could. He was sure he could figure it out. Braids weren't that difficult, right? "I guess it would be easy enough to just pull it back, though." He'd end up cutting it eventually though, Nia. Make no mistake about that. "Well I'll rely on you to steer us clear of anything in this-" With a cheeky smile, he leaned away from the wall and held one arm up, moving it back until it was out of his range of sight, "-general vicinity. Alright, Miss Angel? Can't expect me to do everything, after all." When she did the little... curtsey thing, his eyes flicked to the wings on her back, and his fingertips gave an imperceptible twitch. Since she knew it was him now, he kinda wanted to touch them, just to see what they felt like? But he wouldn't, no. He would touch them later. Who knew how long he'd be at this ball, after all. Ahh. She was laughing right back at him. He should have known that would happen. Biting his bottom lip, trying to hide the grin as he looked down at his feet and then back up at her, he let out another sigh. This one was rather more dramatic than the last. "You say it as if I have a choice," he replied, without missing a beat. The hand touched his chest again, and he mockingly hung his head. "Such a sneaky thief, to steal and then pretend it was given." He paused, and a cocky smirk crossed his face. "Thankfully, for my sake, you've not yet stolen it all away." |
She tried to visualise what braids might look like in his hair. And honestly, she couldn't. Probably because his hair was the complete oppsite end of of colour spectrum to hers, and he had a different face shape. But it wasn't as if he would let her anywhere near to do it anyway. Or would he? "Of course," Nia answered, a bemused expression clear to see. Unlike his - where she couldn't actually tell if he was seriously considering it or not under that mask. He was probably just teasing her. She nodded at pulling it back. "You make it sound difficult." She shook her head in an 'I dunnooo' sort of way. How many girls had long hair and dealt with it everyday? Plenty. Not hard in the slightest. He was relying on her? To help direct? Hehe. "I guess," Nia answered dubiously. "I was rather hoping you'd lead, avoid crashes, keep time, look good, talk and much more. But I suppose I can put myself out a little to help..." And with that, she returned his cheeky smile and poked out her tongue. As if she'd want to let them crash. Er, no thanks. Another giggle escaped as he looked to his feet, and then let out a second sigh. Somehow he'd made it more dramatic than the other one, and that had been rather unexpected. As was his very quick comeback. If she'd got some more snakey-ness, he'd definitely picked up on the 'Claws wit. She ran her tongue over her lips to moisten them, trying to cover the grin on her face so she could reply suitably. "I'm sure you could fight harder against it, if you desired," she stated, letting it hang in the air momentarily. "That is a choice. But to accuse me of thievery? I'm disappointed." She looked off to the side seriously, as she put her hand on her hip. She turned back just in time to see him smirk. "I should hope not," she replied, "For what would be the fun in that? Then I'd have to all the work on the dancefloor." |

But he wouldn't mention that either.. ever. Hand stretching out for the pudding, he was momentarily distracted by a voice he had not heard sine he first arrived at Hogwarts. Strange, considering they shared the same common area, but then again, Nikolai hardly spent time in there. The pudding not quite entirely forgotten, he retracted his hand and turned to Rhea. There would be time for food later. "I vas just looking at the pudding." he said, his eyes shifting to the pudding that was just sitting there. "And half of this food I've never seen before." His eyes scanned the table quickly before giving Rhea his full attention. "Can I just say how beautiful you look?" Even though he had no idea who she was supposed to be. |

Of course it wasn't difficult. Girls did ponytails all the time, sometimes right in class. It didn't really require that much attention. It was just the first time that his hair had been long enough for him to actually be able to do such a thing. Well, kinda. Kinda the first time, but he was blocking out the last instance, thank you very much. "Ahhhh. You expect far too much of me," he murmured, tone crossing into forlorn though his expression was far from such. "You'd be lucky if I can manage two of those at once. Maybe three. It's quite possible you chose the wrong person to be here with." Being here with Nia meant that this night wouldn't be a complete loss. But if she kept up with this, then the night wouldn't be nearly as pain-staking as he'd expected it to be when he'd left the dorms earlier. It would actually be fun, which would help along her requirements for the event. He already felt a little bit better. Though he'd definitely be keeping the mask on. "Would be easier to fight it if the enemy didn't attack by surprise." He never expected the batting of eyelashes or the pouts or anything of the like. It always came out of nowhere. "Ahhhh, but thieves are always disappointed when they're caught, aren't they." And they never, ever wanted to admit their crimes. "If you were to steal it all away though, you wouldn't have to do any of the work." He shook his head, dislodging a lock of hair from behind his ear in the process. "You could just demand that I do it all. I wouldn't have any choice in the matter." |
"Oh..." Nia said with a frown. There was a hint of disappointment, and she let a thoughtful gaze fall over him slowly. She debated a lip wibble for effect, but figured that might be overdoing things just a little bit. "I'm sure I can allow some selectivity throughout the evening," Nia said after a short while, her frown softening into a teasing smile. "On the the dancefloor, I say the leading and no crashes are the most important." Of course, he kinda did the looking good thing naturally. So surely that didn't count? Add in the talking, and the fact she was helping spot hazards...sorted! The wrong person? Nia's eyes twinkled with fun and excitement. "Well...I guess I'll just have to make do. Too late in the day to swap now." As if she'd want to. She was very happy here, thanks. Especially since the mood had lightened considerably. She squeezed his arm, looking forward very much to the night ahead. "What if it is a known feature of thy enemy? Surely you could lay down some preparations?" Was it a known feature? Hmm. Quite possibly only with Raiden. It seemed to work well enough though. Even if...she possibly did it without meaning to some of the time. She hadn't had much practice - and thus never saw herself as good with malekind. More usually, just blushy and awkward. "You have no proof," Nia countered quicky. "Just the word of a man hiding behind a mask, against the voice of an angel." She smirked. Good job she wasn't sporting a halo. It probably would have slipped considerably by now. "As much as that is tempting," Nia said thoughtfully, fiddling with the bangle on her wrist, as she watched him shake his head. He almost had a clever rogue-ishness about him she decided, as a lock of hair fell forwards. She liked it. A lot. "I'm not sure it'd allow for the most simulating conversation. Nor this sort of banter we have going." She tilted her head with a wry smile. "I want a date with a bit of heart and soul." |
Getting Grayson into the ball proper (will have more RP time after work) *shifty* Grayson was starting to feel like she could get into going to balls. Even though a little part of her felt odd wearing a dress, not to mention this time around she wasn't even wearing her Converse. They hadn't exactly gone with her costume, so instead she was wearing some black ballet flats. With her Alice costume, and she had some ideas that went along with it. She had known the story for ages, and the Muggle movie version she'd taken her actual costume from was one of her favorites. Well, her favorites that weren't the stories for Harry Potter's time, at least. The History of Magic lesson they'd had this term about the stories had only made her think about Alice more. And the ways she could have fun with the character. If only she'd been able to find anyone. She'd seen Hailey momentarily, but then more people had arrived and she'd lost track of the Slytherin girl. And she had yet to really find Salander, Jimmy or even Demarcus. Obviously most of the champions were there already, but that barely registered as she had a bit of a mission ahead. Even if it didn't pan out, she almost felt an obligation to do something. After the incident at the last ball. But first, she wanted to find some food. Chocolate, preferably, and her eyes lit up as she saw some brownies. As she headed over to them, she still slipped her hand into the pocket she'd magicked into her costume. Two birds with one stone, and as she selected a couple of brownies, she laid a couple tiny cakes onto the table. Almost like payment, except these were her personal addition to the whole Alice thing. Except minus the actual words that had been written on the cakes in the story. She hadn't abandoned her little personal Potions setup, simply because Professor Lafay hadn't been quite as evil this term, and the costume ball had given her the idea. Of course, she had a few little vials of the opposite potion in her pocket as well, but those could be saved for later. Moving away from the brownies, taking the two she'd picked out with her, she went over to the drinks next. Brownies were always better with things to drink, and she poured herself some butterbeer before heading for the tables. Maybe she'd finally find one of her friends after she'd gotten some sugar in her system. Or at least then maybe she'd find more ways to have fun, even possibly dance. If she had someone to dance with. |

Her hands rested lightly on her hips as she eyed the pudding he was looking at and she made a face. " I'm not a pudding eating kinda girl. I would much rather snack on fruits, because well they never leave brown stains on your teeth or anything like that and they are tasty." she scanned the table along with him. Was he serious? Had he really never seen some of those foods before? They really out to broaden their horizons and taste buds up North, or so she thought anyways." shouldn't that be reason enough to try them then? I mean, since you have never had them." She smirked at what he said next. Oh he was a sweet mouth. " you can say whatever you like, if what you say sounds anything like what you just said." she laughed and winked at him Nikolai style." you look lovely yourself. I'm dressed as Gaia, goddess of the earth" |
Nia~ Bemused, he watched as Nia tried to make her decisions about which things he would have to be. It was both cute and fun how seriously she seemed to be considering it, especially because he knew just how much she was playing with him. "Well I'll be sure to remember those two when we get around to dancing, then." He nodded resolutely, as if this were a big decision that would impact a lot of really important things. "Maybe I can try to keep time, too. We'll see how things work out when we get to that." Ahhh. Raiden wrinkled his nose, automatically faking as if her words had caused him physical pain. "You wound me. Shameful angel, aren't you. Stuck with a clod for a date is the least you deserve." Hmmm. How could one prepare for batting of eyelashes and pouting of lips? By going blind, but he didn't really want to do that. He rather liked seeing things. The world was full of pretty girls; he wanted to be able to look at them, yes he did. Since he could never predict when a girl would look at him in a certain way, or wibble her lower lip, there was nothing to be done. "There's really no way to hide from it." He set her with a serious look. "I suppose I could just avoid all women forever, but that defeats the purpose of living, I think. What good is a will if there's nobody around to test it?" No proof? No proof? Surely she jested. Because he was pretty sure there was plenty of proof standing right in front of her. Sure, with a mask, but everyone wore some odd things sometimes. There was a cow wandering around. "Does my clothing discredit me that much?" he asked, touching the mask again. "A weak-willed man in a mask who would do anything the angel said is not proof enough?" This was playing dangerously close to what younger!Raiden had been like; one who would go out of his way to please others and make them happy, and would do things he didn't really want to do. But he wasn't so much like that anymore, so it was all good, right? Right. Tempting? Tempting, to have a tall, dark puppet with which to play. He supposed he could see the allure, were the situations switched. "I suppose it would depend. If you held someone's will and told them to be witty and have fun conversation with you, it's possible that they could do so. After all, with you having stolen most of my will, I'm still managing." He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "And if you wanted him to have a heart and soul, I suppose you'd just... have to give them back to him." Did they go with the will, like some sort of package deal? Hmmm. "Though I suppose then he'd be trapped with his own heart forever. Unless it were some angel's will for him to give it to someone. Or he'd already had someone else's..." There were so many ways that could go, really. It merited thought. |
LOL! xD Quote:
Hmm.... It was suprising how hungry dancing makes you. Skipping rather happily, Iris made her way over to the food table. OMNOMNOM! It all smelled nice. Hopefully it tasted and looked as good, too. O___O ... Uh. Okay. There's a kid in a banana suit, screaming at a banana. A banana called Dave, apparently. Maybe she'd just get something to eat later. Once the crazy banana kid's gone elsewhere. Yes, that's the wisest thing to do. Cautiously, the prefect watched the boy as he made a giant fuss out of the banana.... then casually just threw away the banana because of the sight of cake. The kid really was mental. Iris turned to go find someone to talk to for a while. ... Okay, or not. Smirking as she watched the boy devour the cake, Iris skipped up to him, and picked up "Dave" from the table. Flashing the boy a TOTALLY honest smile whilst fluttering her glittery, rainbow coloured eyelids, Iris peeled the banana. OMNOMNOM! Dave's a tasty banana. "Nice costume." She said, casually. |

"Eh, me too. Here and there." Shame they never saw each other. Chuckling at his friend's explanation, he nodded. Yup, he didn't want to ruin his pie, or his friend's suit. Better to eat it quickly. Glancing at the girl for the first time as Lavi introduced her, he smiled. It took him a little while to answer back since he was still chewing on his huge bite, but he finally managed to swallow and said "Nice to meet you too." He'd seen the girl probably at some class, but they never met. Glancing between them, he couldn't help but ask "Did you come as dates?" He wasn't ruining anything, right? |

"Please do," Nia said, quietly amazed at the fact he was still playing along with her. It made the thought of dancing so much fun, compared to the last ball where she was too worried about being a wallflower all evening. She was looking forward to stepping out on to the dancefloor, eyes on her and her mysterious partner. Her eyes widened as he mentioned timing. "Are you sure?" she asked, a worried look on her face. "I mean, we don't want to be overdoing it... Maybe we should build up gradually." She gave a knowing nod. Did he just call her a shameful angel. Hmph! As if. The clod bit broke any mock annoyance she might have had thought. "Clod?" She looked at him curiously. he was a bit more dashing than that sounded...but after his comment, well. He was asking for it. "More like...a dollop head." Yes, a dollop head. And somehow, she'd managed to say it with a somewhat straight face. "I'm sorry to hear that," Nia offered. Though what he said struck her with a curiosity. "It must be terribly difficult." She glanced down, swishing her dress as she did so. Her ballet shoes peeped out, and she wiggled her toes in the soft fabric. "A hidden face might imply hidden means." She looked up, to see him touching the mask again. She gave a small roll of her eyes, before looking into his eyes. Without any easy expression to read, it was the only way she could try to guess what he was thinking. Because...he wasn't weak willed. He'd shown that through the tournament. And yes, she might be a girl - and he was play acting - but... Hmm. She wasn't sure. And now...he was puzzling over the idea of will. She frowned at him, wrinking her nose. It all sounded a bit philosophical. And complicated. "How about, I be a good little angel, and try to avoid taking too much in the first place," she said softly, after considering his points. "Because, it just wouldn't be the same if it wasn't you." In his sometimes teasing, making her blush and feeling slightly awkward kind of way. It was...part of the foundation of their friendship really. "And it wouldn't be possible to take your heart..." Because, if she remembered rightly, that already belonged to someone else. "Nor would I want to." |

Jacob the banana was carefully studying the cake. In case it was somehow related to the evil cake that attacked him. Cause, you know, relatives help other relatives take down people they don't like. It seemed to be safe enough. Seemingly unrelated to the quidditch cake. He was just about to grab a fork and take a bite when... "Ahhhh!!!" he shrieked. And he jumped slightly, and as if it was all planned, the caked hopped off the plate. It landed on Jacobs face, and clung there for a few seconds before dropping. Jacob had turned red and was now quite furious. But you probably couldn't see that... CAUSE THERE'S CAKE ALL OVER HIS FACE! "does all cake have something against me?!" he asked loudly Jacob turned to the person who made him jump. " I'm sorry about that." he said trying to act as calm as possible and hoped no one would mention the cake on his face. "what did you say?" he asked, cause through the whole cake flying through the air thing, Jacob wasn't really going to pay attention to what people said. |
Quote:
And... he asked something that made her blush. Big time. "Um... no," Kita said, "No, we met just now at the ball." She wished her mask was a bit bigger to hide her pink-y red cheeks. |
Reaching for another piece of chocolate JD's eyes wander around to those around them, while listening to the others chat. Ellie'd not answered, so for now he'd just stay in his Peter Pan costume. Grabbing another chocolate he pops it into his mouth turning toward Simon, about to open his mouth to say something. |
Quote:
"Food Fight" Simon laughed as he looked at the mess he has just done to JD's face. "There we go you look great that's a good costume for you." Simon smiled. |
