Heheh. Hugo hoped the bludgers were indeed life-threatening this lesson. He stood by his broom and put on the WAY too large helmet. Right, this'd be good. |
Sandra had kept quiet for the question portion of the lesson. Not because she didn't know any of the answers, she knew them all. It was because she didn't want to take away there opportunity to earn....points. She didn't know what they were for, but she did know that they valued them greatly. A smirk creeped on her face when the flying professor said that they would be playing the sport the old fashion way. That sounded fun. Letting the younger students go first, she retrieved all the protective padding and helmet, placing them all on before picking the best broom she could find. Meh. She preferred her broom. Standing by her broom, she waited for further instruction from the professor. |
Well it looked like they were going to get on a broom after all. Jermaine had begun to wonder if there was going to be any flying involved in this class or if it was just a question and answer session. Once most of the younger students had gotten what they needed Jermaine went over to the equipment rack and got what he needed too. Even though the protective gear looked rather funny he knew it was best to have it on and make sure his body was protected. No need in getting all bruised and bloodied if he didn't have to. Once he had everything on, exceot the helmet, he would wait until right before he got on the broom to put that on, he stood next to the broom, that wasn't his own personal broom, and waited for further instructions. |
Oh sweet Merlin! Destiny was on the edge of her seat..on the grass..as Professor Vinny stopped talking. That dramatic pause..it was sooo dramatic and she couldn't WAIT until he told them what they would be doing. At any moment he was going to spill the Bertie Bott's and let them know. ... OLD SCHOOL QUIDDITCH!? No. Way. How BORING was that going to be? Destiny knew, from watching the muggle box, that back in the day everything used to be in black and white. How was she going to be able to distinguish the sky from the grass? She would be thinking she was in the air, and in reality she would be on the ground! How that would be possible, Destiny knew not. But it was old school. Old things don't make sense. Professor Vinny for example. Standing from the ground, she moped her way over to the brooms and the ugly padding. She wasn't about to say no to wearing it; Merlin knows what Vinny would make her wear then. Quickly protecting herself, she moped her way back towards the Professor. "Goodbye color." she whispered to herself. Was her helmet on the right way!? |
Dianna had everything on including the protective padding and helmet. Preferring her own broom of course she didn't have nay other choice and just like the others, Di had an old looking broom. Hm, the padding made her body kind off stiff. Oh well, Dianna waited for the Professor's further instructions. |

And then, he looked up, and saw Vindictus moving toward the tarp. :O :O :O! There it was! The big reveal! Fletcher tensed, preparing for the worst, and then he blinked and chuckled at what was under the tarp. Nothin' but a pile of old brooms and thick padding. Huhhhhhuhuhuh. Fletcher could handle that. He chuckled to himself and swaggered up to the pile, grabbing a broom and a helmet and all the other gear. Yeah he was gonna look like one of those Muggle hokey players when he was done but it was probably necessary protection considering his flying ability. |

"We're playing a modified version of Quidditch . . . the way it was played BEFORE the introduction of the Golden Snidget in 1100." Dramatic pause. "The positions you'll be able to play are Chaser, Beater or Keeper." "There are bats for those who wish to be Beaters - your job is to smack the flying rocks out of the way so that they don't hit people. These old Bludgers are more difficult to control than the modern ones." "For those who want to play Chaser, you'll be using a replica of the old Quaffles - they're not enchanted. You'll have to use the strap or finger holes when throwing it, and you'll have to be closer to the baskets or else the ball will drop to the ground. Oh, and watch out for flying rocks." "The Keeper needs to guard the baskets." He pointed to two sets of baskets at each end of the practice area - each set consisted of three baskets on stilts. "When someone scores, you'll have to retrieve the Quaffle from the basket. You should also watch out for the rocks." Okay, so the warning was out there - BEWARE OF THE FLYING ROCKS. "Play together as a group and be careful." "You may start whenever you're ready." OOC: Have fun RPG the ancient method of playing Quidditch. Please keep non-RP chatter posts out of this portion of the lesson - only those posting are those who are actively participating. Be creative in your role playing as you play with others. If someone's character gets injured, DO NOT attempt to heal them - only the school Staff should tend to injuries. Points will be given for role playing (getting on a broom and watching the others play isn't participation). I'm leaving this lesson open and will check the progress in 14 hours. |
HELLS YEAH FLYING ROCKS! Jimmy went for the beaters bat and the appropriate protective gear and a broom of course. He looked around, trying to decide on a target or two for funsies. Ahhhhh. Miles. James grinned innocently and launched himself skyward, beaters bat in hand. YEAH ROCKS! |
All... right. So it seemed like Fletcher would have to take one of these roles, which meant... he likely wouldn't be able to hold on to his broom handle with both hands and still play. :( Swallowing nervously, the boy raised a hand. "I call Beater." He went forward and selected a bat, thumping it against his palm to judge its weight. Hmm. Maybe this wouldn't be too difficult after all. He grabbed his broom next and hesitated. How to mount the broom, kick off, stay on the broom, and swing his bat around at the same time? Er.................... |
So the bird was a no-go but the Professor confirmed the flying rocks. Great. Finally putting on the padded gear, Simon listened to Vindictus and tried to decide what position he'd want to play. All three sounded like their roles would be a bit more harried then usual. Might as well play beater since its my usual position, he mused to himself. At least then I'd have something to protect myself even more from the rocks. The fifth year making his final decision, Simon went to retrieve a bat as he held his broom in the opposite hand. Seeing another beater take to the air, the Gryffindor soon followed suit and guided his broom upwards to await the rest of the teams. |
Oh dear, Amy mounted her broom and zoomed into the sky, where was Sammy when you needed her, or Jay, well someone to play with, preferably not someone delicate, she hoped the ground was soft, her arm still hurt from the last lesson |
Yay! Dianna wanted to be a chaser so bad! Dianna checked everything to make sure they were secured and mounted on her broom. Here we go! |
There were already two beaters. Fletcher and James. Cameron pouted. "No fair. Steal my position, Wilkes!" But there was a spare bat. a SPARE bat. Which meant she could USE said bat and just play for funzorz. Right? It wasn't like this was all that serious. They were trying to figure out ancient quidditch for a START. Clambering onto a broom, she frowned. She hadn't riden in hella long. It almost seemed weird without Oliver here. Why wasn't he at this lesson? Trixie wasn't here either. The redhead gulped down any paranoid delusional situations that attempted to rise. It wasn't true. Right? She kicked off harder than intended and soared into the sky. "Right. So let's pay some dirty Quidditch." Which was pretty much ancient Quidditch anyway. It was modern day quidditch sans morals. |
Amy looked at the Gryfindor prefect as she flew over to the keepers place, she watched out for any hang on ROCKS?! Oh lordy lou, she shook her head and tensed up for any flying quafles or rocks |
Hugo took a bat. He was going to be a beater! He fluw up, up and away to beat the deadly rocks! As he levitated into the air, he spotted no deadly rocks. He took off and flew around... And there it was. It smacked his foot, but Hugo was able to beat it after that. Yay! |

He grinned at the others that had chosen to play beater. "Everything's better when you play dirty." He called over his shoulder at Cam, clearly enjoying himself already. ROCK! |
Woooooooaaahhh Amy ducked as a rock flew around the air, it didn't go near her but it still creeped her out |
Grinning like crazy, Ivory nodded along to the instructions. As long as no animals at all would harmed in the making or playing of their games, then it was perfectly fine by her. What was a few thrown rocks between friends. Especially if one was wearing armor, which she was in the process of donning at the moment. Since she hadn't exactly rushed to the pile of protective clothing, the helmet she eventually grabbed up turned out to be meant for someone with a much larger head. The result being the top lip of the helmet continually dropping low on her face as she pulled on the different padding on various parts of her body. But oh well...beggars couldn't be choosers. Straightening her helmet with a sigh at the thought of how many times she'd probably have to do just that, she stood by her broom waiting for the next instructions. Alright. So now it seemed she had to pick between hitting people, getting hit, or defending the goal...while getting hit. Maybe just this once her smallness would be of benefit. She'd be a chaser and wheedle her way around the field...couldn't be too hard...right? Feet flat on the ground, legs straddling the broom, she pushed of smoothly and took off in the air. Time to catch some quaffles. Fingers flexing, preparing to clench around a strap or grasp into finger holes, she looked around. |
"We're allowed to play dirrrrrrrty?" Fletcher mused loudly, struggling onto his broom and kicking off so he almost tipped over. He managed to right the broom, however, and slowllllly started ascending toward a rock. Aww yeah. Time to hit things! If he could... manage to grasp both broom and bat. As his slow, rickety broom approached a floating rock, Fletcher released his death grip on the handle with his right hand and swung his bat around in a giant circle. The bat made contact with the rock right away and it went soaring toward a Ravenclaw chaser. "SWEEEEEEEET!" he called out, grinning even as his momentary excited almost unseated him. |
Ohhhhhhh..They're going to play Quidditch??!!Yaaaaaaaayyyyyyy..Professor Vindictus said that they have to choose between Chaser, Beater or Keeper. She decided to play a beater, smacking the rocks sound fun. She grabbed a bat, carry it in her right hand and then she mounted her broom and zoomed into the sky. She saw a rock headed her way. She tightened her grip on the bat getting ready to smack the rock. The rock getting closer and closer. SMACK..!!!! She smacked the rock and the rock flied away. |
Fee listend carefully to the professor. Ancient Quidditch? This sounded cool. Chaser,Keeper or Beater? No Seeker? ARGH! Oh well she would be a Keeper then. Flying up to one of the rings she waited for the first attack. She was ready.. |
Hugo looked at Fee, she was going to the baskets. He turned back, and saw another girl as beater. Then, a rock headed for the baskets. "Fee, look out!" WHACK! He hit the "bludger" and it shot towards another kid. Hugo felt the rush of being a beater. This was awesome! |
OI! Amy shouted as the rock went her way, and she had no bat, THE IDEA IS TO KEEP THE ROCKS AWAY FROM THE GOAL! She cried, ducking out the way as one rock just missed her arm |

She wanted to look for that person but noticed the rock not far away. It was heading into her direction quickly. DAANG! Fee turned her broom and flew out of the rocks way. Fewwwwww, this rock had almost smashed her. Loooking down she noticed Hugo looking up to her. "Hugo",she smiled as she flew downt to him,"thank you.I would be smashed." What a horrible imagination. "Seeing you try out as a beater?" |
