| | Flying Lesson #1
Located directly next to the castle is a vast expanse of green grass. This is where all Flying Lessons take place unless Professor Vindictus changes the venue.
A broom rack sits on a flat patch of ground and next to it is the professor. If you're here for the lesson, please have a seat on the grass and wait for the professor to begin.
Do not announce that you're late or else points will be taken away.
If you're not here for the lesson and take a broom for a joy ride on the grounds, then expect to face the wrath of Vindictus. |

"A bath tub??? Well, i must say it would take quite a good wizard to do it well cause bathyubs are quite heavy which means an average wizard would only be able to fly it rather low. And once more a bath tub is a huge square which would make steering quite an in interesting task.".

That was... that would be such a weird vehicle. Even to Fletcher.
"Bathtubs are no good cuz... they aren't aerodynamic? And wouldn't that be awkward if some Muggle did happen to see you flying through the air? A broom might not be as visible or obviously magical... but a giant ole bathtub would stick out like sore thumb. Plus think of the impossible steering. And what if you got stuck?"
Though if they did decide to start flying bathtubs, Fletcher would be much more comfortable and could sink down and hide in the tub.

A bathtub? "It seems like it would be hard to fly a bathtub. I mean... to turn it and tilt it. Brooms are much easier to control. Not to mention they're thinner. Bathtubs probably couldn't go nearly as fast as brooms can." Ellie said.

Thinking it over though, she tried to imagine what quidditch would be like if they all flew bathtubs. Hehe and what an image THAT was. Of course, she totally was going to draw that later on when she was in the Slytherin common room. Just hopefully that French girl wasn't there invading the room. Meh. Which, she would surely be laughing at whoever decides to try to fly a bathtub. Perhaps even carry around a camera? Hehe. Quote:

He was kidding right?!
RAG MOPS?!
Okay, if Annie could barely fly a broom, why would she fly on a mop, that could be dripping water every now and then and and...and...it was a bit smelly, anyways. But ugh, she was used to smelly things all her life, like her football socks. EW. Slowly, Annie walked towards the MOP line and took one with her left hand, this close to use her other hand to cover her nose. But she didn't. It could show weaknesses. Something you don't see with Annie. No No.
She got in line and looked at the rag at the floor-end of the mop. Well, what if this worked out better than the broom?

| Funny Beauty A mop? well this can't [be good. We are gonna learn how to clean something most probably. But who knows, mabe we would do something else with them. but what may it be, time will tell. Chloe thought as she walked over and grabed a mop, got in line, and held it in her left hand somewhat eager what could come next.

Turning as he sees something coming toward them, his eyes widen in surprise. What the.... Glancing at the professor to see if he was serious, seeing he was he looks around at everyone else.
Sighing, he grabs a broom in his left hand and stands in line. Looking at the water dripping he moves it a little farther away from his robes, so he wouldn't get wet. He had no clue what on earth they were about to do, and he certainly hoped it wasn't cleaning.

Following his gaze he watched as...were those mops? Were they dripping water?! What was he up to now...
standing up he grabbed one of the mops with a look that clearly showed how he didn't really want to do this. Holding it with his left hand he watched as Vindictus clapped his hands and raised an eyebrow. Ooooooooooookay.

Dripping wet mops. Mops soaked in WHO KNOWS WHAT?!? "Seriously Prof?" he looked at the blond man as the lad stood up and tentatively took a wet one. He immediately noticed the weight difference between the Cleansweep and the soaker. Ellie stared at Vindictus. Was he serious? Yo can't ride mops...
She slowly got up and took a mop. It was soooo weird! "Professor, err... wouldn't it be tail heavy? Being wet and everything?" Was it even called a 'tail' on mops?
This was not right.

Two points. Hmm, now that she was looking up to the sky, completely distracted and missing the fact that the professor had his wand out, she THOUGHT she saw a cloud that looked like a snake. Maybe it was a broom actually. Eh, she couldn't tell!
It didn't matter anyways since a line of what looked to be brooms entered her vision. Wow, you see them in the clouds...and then they appear! Appear to be wet more like it. What in the world were those th- WHAT!? "Are you serious?" she muttered, staring at the mops for a moment before forcing herself to stand up and grabbing a mop.
What did this have to do with their discussion about bathtubs? "Are we watering the grass or something?" Not that it needed it.

Haughtine hopped up from her seat and ran over to get a mop. She looked at Vindictus as she did so not really watching where she was going, the thought in her mind how pleased her mother might be should she manage to procure an autograph.
She reached a hand out and gripped the handle of the broom and was slightly yanked by the weight of the thing. She turned her attention towards the bottom of the broom and with a look of disgust proclaimed, "Ugh! They're wet!" And with Merlin knew what!
With a shake of her head, Haughtine lined up as instructed. All the while trying NOT to smell what the mop might've been wet with. |

Jenny looked at the professor as she held the wet mop in her left hand. What? She was just starting to get used to Cleansweeps already...but wet dripping mops? Could she even handle mops...only one way to find out. She mounted on her broom and kicked off the ground. Jenny kept jumping up and down on her mop; it was especially heavy. She couldn't even get higher at all. "Aw man..." Jenny kept moving forward, slowly and bumpy, as she tried to figure out a way to fly higher.

Fletcher nodded along to everything Vindictus said so that he probably looked like a bobble head. But at least flying these mops seemed to suit his style of ridin low.
Swinging his leg over the broomstick, Fletcher gripped it hard and took a breath before kicking off. WHOOOOOOoooooooooooooooosh. The mop, needless to say, did not get going very quickly. It accelerated with a definite drag at the rear. But it was definitely easier to stay upright on at least.
Fletcher was feeling pretty confident at flying the mop. He grinned to himself and even flew with no hands for a few moments. Awesome. This wasn't so bad....
...three feet up in the air.

Mops? O_O
Patroclus knew that his was going to be interesting.
Mounting his mop, Patroclus kicked off and rather than shot into the air, lugged into the air. "This is weird!" he commented. Urging the broom on, he began aware of the heaviness that was the wet mop end.
Pulling the mop up, both the boy and the broom slugged to a stop. Trying to just hover, Patroclus noticed that he was slowly tilting backwards, the nose of the mop was slowly moving skyward, and then. Uhf!
the boy slide off the broom, landing on the ground, his derrière softening his landing. "Oww." |

Mops. cool. but flying them? it proved difficult. And Heather dare not do the tricks she did earlier or end up injured again-she wouldn't want to end up in the hospital wing again and worrying her friends so much.
but the mop was so difficult to handle! Heather was just about a feet above ground, and just spinning ever so slowly in a circle-the weighted end about half a feet from the ground. She sighed and tried to pull up. great. a feet and a half. pull up again with all your strength. 2 feet. pull again. 3 feet. at least her legs were dangling now.
"i guess having a drag is better than throwing myself up in the air at an intense speed." she mumbled to herself.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Stuart Kynaston Ravenclaw Sixth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Rome Keller Drechsler Gryffindor First Year | Carter Post #1 Sardine VIP || Shark Attack! || D A R T E R || Captain Oblivious Carter looked around uncertainly before kicking off... on a mop. He wavered a bit before he was able to balance himself. This was weird. He soared upward slowly, very slowly....
He just hovered in the air for a few seconds getting accustomed to things. But he soon became distracted by the dripping of his mop. He was half tempted to fly over someone. He fought the temptation though. He was pretty sure that if he were to do something like that he'd be banned from playing quidditch ever again. He loved quidditch and flying way to much. He loved it so much that he was here... flying on a mop...
He flew in one direction for a few seconds and then turned. A few droplets of water flew off.
Hehe, he wondered what would happen if he turned right before the barrier. Would the droplets go through? Or bounce back? With that in mind he zoomed headed off toward the barrier.

Oh, where was the yearbook photographer when you needed them?! "These mops are fully equipped with all standard broom magic charms including a braking charm and the cushioning charm. However, they're not going to fly like an ordinary broomstick." "The weight of the water is going to cause a drag when you're airborne. If the rags weren't wet, all of you would be ricocheting off the invisible boundaries and be unable to control the mop." He stopped and allowed this fact to sink in. "This is why I said they won't fly like ordinary broomsticks. But like a broomstick, everything else is almost the same . . . except when you try to dive . . . the weighted end will flip you off the mop and onto the grass . . . so avoid diving, if you can."
Goofy grin. "Since you get to fly again, please try to practice your control of the mop and be careful not to smack someone in the face with the wet rags . . . the impact could cause you to become unseated and dangling precariously from the mop handle . . . and that would cause the mop to become inverted and you'd plummet to the grass. So, um, try not to hurt yourselves, okay? Now have some fun flying your mops!" OOC: Points are given for participation (at least 5 creative role playing posts). Please don't intentionally injure your character -try to have fun in an injury-free sort of way. Around 11pm EST tomorrow, I'll post again. "Myrtle...." That sounded familiar. Where has he heard it before? Then it struck him. The Potter stories, that peeping ghostie who wouldnt leave Potter alone in the bath. "You mean she's still here?!?" And if this thing has been hanging around her.....
He's not gonna say it... he's not gonna say it.....
He's gonna say it "EWWWW!!"
He stared at the dripping mop in his hand, unsure if he was more disgusted with the fact that Myrtle could've left her essence all over it, or if it might've been used to clean the bathrooms. Grimacing, he mounted the wet mop and tried to repeat his launch as he did on the Cleansweep.
He lifted about a foot from the ground when he found his legs bracing for an unexpected landing. "Wha???" he scowled. Seems like the added weight was keeping him down. He pushed off stronger and started moving forward. Ok I'm moving... this is good. But no more has he advanced several feet when he felt like he was slipping backwards down the handle. He struggled, tightening his grip. He turned to look at the heavy rear of the mop which he found to be dragging along the grass!
That was a mistake.
As soon as his weight shifted the mop went vertical and threw him off. He fell on his legs half running... and ran SMACK onto the handle of the vertical mop. Ouch. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: TBD Gryffindor Hogwarts RPG Name: Zara H. Bunbury-Foster Slytherin Fifth Year | Fletcher #2 *points to Salander and laughs* Professor Pink | Mrs. Bruce Wayne | I'm on a Goat | Glitterpuff | Dumbledore's Defense Squad | BHB "Heh. Heheh. Hehehehahahahahahahahahahahaaaaahhhhh," Fletcher's laugh grew from a snort to a chuckle to a full-on belly-rumbling laugh as he pointed at Salander's failed attempt at flying. "Fear not, damsel in distre-- aheheheheheeeeeeeee!"
He had to let go of the handle of his hovering mop to clutch at his stomach, still laughing loudly at the Slytherin. Darn giggles. They sure were good for the abs, huh. Fletch continued laughing to himself until he literally slipped sideways off the mop and landed with a soft thud on his bottom.
The mop continued floating in midair for a moment before it seemed to realized he was no longer seated and then it abruptly fell right on top of his head, so it looked like he had a tangle of white spaghetti for hair.
The boy stopped laughing just like that (and closed his mouth too) as a trickle of filthy mop-water seeped down the side of his pouting face. Now who was laughing?

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Kurumi took her mop and mounted it. She closed her eyes and tried to kick off from the ground and found herself jumping only a foot forward again. However, this time her toes did not hit the ground. Ooooh! Progress! Kurumi opened her eyes again, expecting to find herself airborn, but saw the professor standing on a few feet away from her as her toes dangled only a few inches from the ground. Well...this certainly wasn't as much fun as riding brooms! She looked at the rear and saw a trail of water dripping from her wet and dirty mop. Maybe if she could get a little higher...She focussed all her energy on making the mop go even just a bit higher. When she was at a distance that would allowed her to hang upside down without hitting her head, she began to spin in fast circles sending wet moppy water in every direction.
