She mounted the broom. When she wanted to kick off the ground she heard the Professor said something about boundaries?? She held the broom firmly and heard the instruction very carefully. Quote:

FLYING. Oh, Ty was now a happy happy boy. Kicking off eagerly as Vindictus - it was such a relief to really KNOW the professor who was teaching the lesson, as opposed to being scared to bits by Lafay - gave the word, Ty soared HIGH into the air, beaming as the ground got smaller and smaller. Fly and have fun? YESSIR. Wait. This was TOO high. Ty liked heights, but he wasn't really sure of the boundaries up here. Relaxing into the broom, he slowly melted downwards until he was at an appropriate height. HEHE THIS WAS SOOO COOL. He had missed riding a broom this summer - too many muggles coming over for him to ever have time to take his broom for a spin. It wasn't a very good one, but it had the ability to FLY and that was all that mattered to Ty. NOW. Time for tricks?! YES. Gripping the broom a little harder than he had before, Ty zoomed over to the goalposts, right underneath the actual hoops. Jaw set, he flattened himself onto the broom and zoomed straight ahead, zigzagging in and out of the hoops and posts with accelerated speed. WHOOOOOO!!! THAT WAS WICKED. Reaching the opposite end, he took a moment to catch his breath before turning back and repeating the experience, this time going even FASTER. |
Dianna was having fun as she started off with a small kick on the ground. She was quite high but not too high. All around her students were having fun and falling. She swerved slightly to her left and then right going in a circle. Just when she got the hang of it.. OOF! She fell to the ground but she too was laughing. Wiping the dirt of her shirt, she got her broom which landed not to far away and kicked from the ground. |
Marie and Destiny post 2 Looking over her shoulder, Evelyn smirked when she spotted Marie. Hurrying though, the Slytherin took one more scenic glance before turning the broom around and slowly moving closer to her Slytherin friend. "Probably the whole class period." she laughed, leaning over her broom to stare down at her other Slytherin friend. Oh, c'mon! Did she really have to fly that slow? Maybe this summer they could all stay at the hers and Rae's house, and just...fly. "Nah, she's coming." Barely. "Would you feel even more safe if you wore a bubble suit?" Snickering, Evelyn straightened her posture so she wasn't leaning over her broom anymore before quickly...moving back to leaning forward a bit again. Eesh, don't sit too far back! Fall off that way. Anyways... "C'mon. It's not like Vinny is going to let us do something that we'll get permanantly hurt b-" Breaking off once she heard a rather, girlish scream, Evelyn tried to see who it was before shrugging her shoulders and turning her attention back to the other part of the Slytherin trio. O___O Not before seeing like twelve people hit something invisible when flying! BAHAHAHAHA! Well, Vinny wasn't lying! There really were barriers around the place. |

"okay...here goes..." she said, with a sigh, tight grip on the broom and eyes closed, pulled up and zoomed up, passing kurumi quickly, and she was still going up, up, up... and then she stopped. she looked down at kurumi. "hi kurumi!" she said, waving her hand. she then flew back down to kurumi in a spiral manner of flying. |

Panting heavily as he completed his FOURTH time in and out of the hoops, Ty decided to take a break and fly leisurely around the pitch for a bit to catch his breath. So slowly that it was almost ridiculous, the thirteen year old began his relaxed flight around the class when he heard the first scream and almost fell off his broom. WHAT WAS THAT?! Leaning lower on the broom, Ty searched the area with his eyes and saw someone on the floor. Wha-? Then ANOTHER scream sounded, and the more he looked at the pitch, the more Ty realised that people were BOUNCING OFF AIR and falling onto the ground. What in the world was- OH RIGHT. Perimeter; Vindictus had put up invisible walls. HEHE. This was too funny. Back in relaxing mode, Ty watched with growing amusement as people kept smacking into thin air and falling down on their bottoms. AWESOME stuff. It was around two minutes later that Ty found that this was getting boring. Grinning to himself, he gripped the broom harder and pointed it upwards. Time for some DIVING exercises! |

SPOILER!!: kurumi having fun! Heather was glad kurumi was okay and that she was enjoying flying. she then looked at herself. she should enjoy too! She watched kurumi zoom around in any direction she wanted freely. Heather wanted to zoom around try some tricks she had done before, taught to her by her dad. "okay!" she told herself. "let's do this heather!" she then set a direction of zooming up and up again... then made a 360 degree turn and zoomed back down quickly, as if she were going to crash on to the ground. But she pulled back in time and continued zooming a feet above ground, flew in a circle and zoomed back up again, spinning like a top and doing 3 consecutive crazy 360s like a roller coaster. then went zigzag, as if she got whoozy or something, but she regained composure once more. She then flew fast in a straight line, back and forth, testing herself and loving how the wind feels in her face and in her hair. Gosh, flying feels like she was free and herself and as if her dad was with her. |

She kicked off from the ground, lent slightly forward and went zooming forward. A bit too fast. She hastily pulled up, but instead, the broom shot upwards instead. Ooooooh no. She grasped the handle, took a deep breath, and levelled the broom out. It stopped, and she hovered in mid-air. Phew. It had been a loooong time since she flew with this much freedom. |
Carr walked out on the the field with the Cleansweep in her hand and she could feel the broom vibrating in her hand. 'You're awfully nervous,' Carr imagined the broom was trying to say to her, to which Carr could only reply, I'm always nervous about flying. Carr, who hated heights with every fiber of her existence, determinedly took Flying lessons every year in an attempt to both overcome her fear of heights and to develop some sort of proficiency with flying on a broom. She would never be a Quidditch player, which wa basically asking to be thrown to the ground from break-neck heights, but learning to fly a broom was a useful talent for any witch to pick up. Taking a deep breath and swallowing hard, Carr mounted the broom, which shot nervously to the side, jarring her thigh. Carr merely gritted her teeth against what was clearly going to be a bruise and closed her eyes. Time for a bit of self-meditation. I'm standing in a field beneath a tree. It's just rained and the wet grass smells like springtime. I leave the tree and walk across the field to where I know a path through the forest leads. At the entrance of the path, there are a pair of comfortable slippers that fit my feet perfectly, wrapping them in warmth and confort. The broom began to rise, taking Carr up with it, but she was still lost in her meditation. She seemed to be holding steady, in any case. I pull on the slippers and walk the path through the forest. On the other side, there is a long, winding path leading up to an open drawbridge over a moat and a castle. As I look upon the castle, I feel a sense of belonging. This is my castle. Carr continued to rise up from the ground, steadily upward, her eyes still closed. I walk across the drawbridge. A knight wearing metal armor salutes me as I walk past him and into the castle. My castle. The metaphor for my subconscious. Once inside, I walk down a long corridor. There are tapestries and painting along the walls of my treasured memories and proudest moments. They lead to a door where a set of stairs leads down. Ten steps down. Each step making me more relaxed as I-- Carr gave a wobble on her broom and her eyes snapped open. She was at least three times her own height into the air and the ground loomed beneath her. She wobbled again and flipped over so that she was hanging upside down from her broom. "IT'S A METAPHOR!" she screamed. "The CASTLE is a METAPHOR!! It's a metaphor for my subconscious!!" But she had already seen how far she was from the ground and her screeching was not helping her go back into her calm state of mind. She thrashed around, trying to get back on top of her broom, but the broom had lost confidence in her ability to fly it, so it would fly itself. And the flyer sits on top, right? Yes. So the broom would be on top. It lowered several feet in the air and shuddered violently, dislodging Carr's grip on it. Her hands fell away, but her legs were still wrapping knee-deep around it. This was remedied as the broom tilted up, dumping her onto the ground, 4 or 5 feet below. Carr landed heavily on her back, which knocked the wind out of her. But she'd had worse falls. And her face was still bruised from Arithmancy, so this didn't feel so bad as it normally did. Wait... what she getting used to the pain of falling? How sad... |
Fletcher Post 2 Had he felt confident enough to release one hand from its death grip on his broomstick, Fletcher would have swished his hair back from his face. As it was, the boy was too petrified to do anything but continue to spew the occasional spam-like chunk and of course some of it collected in his pretty, shiny hair. Sniffling as both his pride and good looks were dashed, Fletcher tried to get a hold of himself. No crying. Men and champions don't cry... even if they did have putrid puke in their hair. Quote:
"Dddoes that mean I can ddismountt now?" Fletcher spat, finally getting the courage to move one hand up to his mouth and wipe away the vomit from his face. There, that was better. But as he went to put his hand back on the handle.... the broom decided to accelerate again.... Quote:
Alas, the warning came a minute too late. SMACK. Fletch also collided with the invisible wall, albeit a great distance below Salander. He slid off his broom with a grunted, "oompf," and then just laid there on the ground to recover. Some flying lesson this was. |
Freya Post 2 Freya zoomed out the clear sky in front of her. She breath the air slowly. How she loves flying in the air. She decided to speed up her broom. And the Cleansweap flied faster. She hold the broom tightly so she won't fall out. She noticed that she was almost in the end of the field. She turned her broom but it was too late.. SMACK.. She hit the invisible wall.."Auch." she rubbed her right hand that crashed into the invisible wall. After her right hand feeling better, she continued flying this time a little slower. |
Patroclus Post One! Patroclus jumped on the broom and kicked off the moment Professor Vindictus' mouth closed. It was flying time! A little annoyed that they had magical barrriers on the pitch, Patroclus had to think of clever ways to get the rush he got, that made him love flying so much....then again who didn't like flying? Completing a lap of the pitch, Patroclus couldn't help but chuckle as he watched quite a few students smack into the boundaries, at least I know what hieght they are, the boy thought. He had wanted a rush, and the boy knew who to get it! Linking his hands together as well as he feet with the broom held in between, Patroclus rolled onto his side, so he was now flying upside down, in a semi-sloth grip. He wanted a rush; a rush of blood to the head would be good enough, he decided. Excelerating Patroclus found it quite hard to control the broom from an invert position, his wieght was hanging off the broom, rather than egging it on. However realising he could swing his body forward to gain momentum, the boy became to pick up speed! "Weeeeeee!" He cried, zipping across the pitch, swinging his body to weave in and out of the other students. However the blood rushing to his head, began to make his temples pound and his eye's blurr and then out of nowhere came.... WHACK! |
Having never flown on a broom before, this was one of the classes that Rowan had been most looking forward to. Now that the time had come, however, she was terrified. Rowan took a deep breathe and kicked off the ground. She had ACTUALLY made it off the ground! She gave a loud cheer and, in her excitement, some how managed to end up hanging upside down on her broom. Holding on for dear life she yelled, "Help! How do I stop this thing!" |
Lara on the air I Lara to the Professore carefuly she though wow Invisible barriers whow ould like to run away?! she looked around Oh alot I guess she told herself,As for herself she must stay on the grass for her own saftey. Alice Post 1 Quote:
"Breathe in, breathe out," Alice said taking a deep breath. Everyone else seemed so comfortable? She spotted Salander who had as much ease as if he was sitting on a chair and even Rubiey looked comfortable. "Well, there's no way of knowing unless you try," Alice muttered to herself. Alice gently pushed off with her feet, shooting much farther into the air than she had intended. OH DEAR GOD. Alice practically hugged the broom in fear. Why oh why was she so terrified of heights?? Alice looked around as Salander and a fourth year from Gryffindor she didn't know were abruptly stopped and fell. Guess there's an invisible wall there? Note to self, don't move much. |
Ty post 3... forgot to name the others Mmk. DIVING. Hovering around ten meters above the ground, Ty looked down. It wasn't TOO far - the dive should be simple enough. Leaning down, the Ravenclaw cleanly shot down then pulled out of the dive with a small grin on his face. YEP - he still had it. Climbing higher and higher in the air, each time he pulled out of the dive closer and closer to the ground. As he made his six attempt, he was so close to the ground he actually spotted a large bug on one of the grass blades. It was no Wronski Feint yet, mainly because there was no snitch and because he wasn't going NEARLY fast enough, but it was progress indeed. They should have flying classes EVERY SINGLE DAY. A flying club, perhaps! Made for all those who were either reserves on their Quidditch teams, hadn't been accepted at all OR just those who wanted to fly around without having to worry about quaffles, bludgers and tiny snitches. After the lesson, Ty would have a shower then make straight for Professor V's office. He had a business proposition to discuss with him. |
Alice Post 2 Alice looked around and spotted a boy, who looked to be older than her doing dives. Yeah, no, that probably wasn't going to happen. Props to him though! Figuring that she couldn't stay here forever Alice slowly started to move forward, going in a circular motion around the other students. Hey...this isn't so bad...as long as she didn't look down. Alice straightened herself a bit on the broom and decided that perhaps looking at eye level and up was the safest way to go. Alice started to move a little faster. Okay, okay, she was getting it now. She was still going at a snail's pace in consideration to how fast the others were going, but she was fine with that. Rather stay aboard the broom then fall off and crash to her death. Alice chuckled nervously to herself. Bleak much? |

"Hi Freya," Rowan yelled as she zipped by, upside down. "Thanks," she said on the next pass. She slowed down, but was only able to just slightly. She managed to steer the broom towards the ground, leaned back, and pulled up slightly on the handle. The broom came to a stop. "You are a life saver," she beamed at the girl, blushing violently. "Thank you SO much! I thought I was going to end up as a grease spot on the grass." |
Freya Post 4 Quote:
After helping Rowan to stop her broom, she began to fly her broom little higher. She zoomed the three goalpost. She lean forward and her broom began to fly faster. She doing a loop in the goalpost. After several lap looping the goalpost she felt dizzy @______@ So she decided to rest for a minute or two. She lowered her broom and lean back. When her feet touched the ground she stopped the broom. She hop off the broom and sat down in the grass until her dizziness gone. |
Carr #2 It took several minutes of slow breathing before Carr sat up from the ground. Her Cleansweep was hovering nearby and, as she sat up, it began gently running into her shoulder, almost like a puppy begging to be played with. Carr scowled and said, "You bucked me off just now. You do every year. And why should I get back on?" But brooms can't talk. The broom continued to nudge her shoulder almost as though it were asking to be forgiven and given another chance. Carr's scowl deepened, but she stood up and mounted the broom anyway. It didn't jar to the left or the right this time, but it did begin to rise without her kicking off from the ground. Carr made a very undignifed 'bwah!' sound as she clutched the broom tightly with both hands, wrapping her ankle around it as it sped off. |
