Flying Lesson #1 Located directly next to the castle is a vast expanse of green grass. This is where all Flying Lessons take place unless Professor Vindictus changes the venue. A broom rack sits on a flat patch of ground and next to it is the professor. If you're here for the lesson, please have a seat on the grass and wait for the professor to begin. Do not announce that you're late or else points will be taken away. If you're not here for the lesson and take a broom for a joy ride on the grounds, then expect to face the wrath of Vindictus. |
Amber bounced up to the Quidditch pitch, happy and bubbly per usual. She looked around. Phooey, no one was here yet. Ahh well. She'd just have to wait then. "Good morning, professor!" She said, smiling and waving before taking a seat on the grass. She pulled up a few blades, letting them fall at her feet. La la la, what to do what to do... |
Lara was waiting for this lesson the most, it's Quidditch her passion so flying is the most exciting thing for her.So she hurried to the pitch and stepped forward the professore"good morning,Professore!" Lara said with a big smile on her face. |
Jacob walked out onto the grounds... it was so weird not going to the pitch, the pitch which he loved so dearly. The Pitch that taught him to fly... the pitch that gave him the love of quidditch. And now what were they doing to it, using it for the tournament. Bringing Dragons onto it. How Disrespectful! "Hello Professor" he greeted the man, with a nod, and plopped a seat on the grass. As he did so, from habit, he started picking at the grass. He hopped the man wasn't still mad at him and JD about not only the fight. But how he found out about the fight. Whatever, whether the man was furious or not, Jacob still had to get on the mans good side... very good side, before... well before the thing. |
"Hello, hello! I hope that you're all excited about flying!" exclaimed Vindictus as he watched the students arrive and get comfortable on the grass. |
Ellie walked down to the pitch with a very determined look on her face. She was going to fly HARD today. Anyway to make up for the lack of time spent on a broom, practicing. Because SOMEONE, had decided it was okay to let the Tournament take the place of Quidditch. Someone, she wasn't going to hold a grudge against, but still. That wasn't the point. The point was to fly with more determination than she ever had before. "Good day, Professor Vindictus." she said. She managed to smile, though probably unconvincingly. She was happy to be there, don't get her wrong. She'd just wished she had been on a broom more often since school had started. But, nonetheless, she was happy to get to fly at all. Did any of that make any sense? She was confusing herself now... |
Flying. Something Annie really needed to learn. She was even anxious about it. She was trembling. But those weren't nerves, they were showing that she was afraid. OH DEAR. She walked towards the meeting place and took her seat on the grass. She needed to calm down. Although heights were not her thing, she knew the flying could help her if the Apparition test didn't work out for her. It was to be this summer. Eep! "Go-ooo-od day, Professor Vindictus." She greeted the professor, trying to stop her mouth from babbling right off nerves. |
Fletcher was ONLY attending Flying Class because it was outside, and he liked being outside, and because you never knew when you might need to make a quick escape via broom. He also thought it might be wise to get over his fear of heights before the Tournament began and all. With this in mind, the tall boy strolled down to the grassy patch designated for today's lesson and flopped onto the ground onto his back. Might as well get comfortable til class started. |
Vindictus cleared his throat and finally started the lesson. "I'm glad that many of you decided to show up for today's lesson on Flying Essentials. For some of you, this will be your first-ever flying lesson, and for others this is basic review with the perks of being able to fly." He stopped and smiled. "I want each of you to grab a Cleansweep and line up along the side of the path. Make sure that you're holding the broom in your left hand but don't mount it!" |
Flying class! FINALLY. Vashti had been aching for some broom flying ever since the beginning of summer, but with no Quidditch to tryout or practice for it felt like ages since she'd last flown. It was painful really. She just hoped she wasn't rusty now and she especially hoped she wouldn't fall of her broom from lack of practice. That'd be embarrassing. YEY BROOMS. No flying yet, but at least they were going ahead and getting a broom. Which meant flying soon hopefully. YEY AGAIN. Trying not to look too eager (and possibly failing), Vashti grabbed a broom from the rack with her left hand and stood alongside the path as instructed. |
Amber scrambled to her feet and got a Cleansweep. She sighed contentedly. It felt great holding a broomstick in her hands again. It'd been so long since she'd last flown. She lined up along the path, tapping her foot to a tune that was stuck in her head. Pretty soon she'd start humming, then la la la-ing, then real singing. She'd better find some way to distract herself... |
Salander strode out to the green grass by the castle. Flying classes..... He was looking forward to it, but wasnt half as confident as he felt he should be. For some strange happenstance nearly all his previous schools wasnt much of an advocate for flying-- why fly when you can apparate, or for the young'uns such as himself, use a port key. What was that term Finchley said? Americans are all about being johnny quick? Whatever... he mused as he approached the students already forming around a man he could only guess was the Flying Professor. "Greet'ns Chief. " Salander nodded at the blond man, then took a spot on the grass, leaning on his hands and stretching his legs in front of him. Quote:

Patroclus knew how to fly a broom, that was for sure, but considering Qudditch had been cancelled and he had been planning on signing up, so he could beat Jacob, the boy decided at that Flying Lesson's would be the next best thing. "Morning Sir," The boy smiled, as he grabbed a cleansweeper and stood where he was told. The boy had the new Firebolt at home....but it seemed the Cleansweeper would have to do. |
Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God! He gets to fly already?!?! YES! He knew coming here was a good idea. Jacob took a cleansweep, and walked over to the path. Jacob never understood that, 'left hand' thing, what about people who liked holding it in the other hand. Jacob did. He was a lefty beater. He held the broom with his right hand while flying. Oh well, Jacob was just about to mount the broom when... Whoah! Dont? mount it? OOOOH. Okay!... Thay saw that, Jacob didn't actually mount it... he was close, but he didn't so WHAT! |
Cleansweep? What happened to the amazing Firebolt and Nimbuses they got to fly last year? Surely he still had some locked up somewhere? Ellie sighed and got up and got a Cleansweep. Then stood att the path, as asked. Can they mount yetttt? |
Evelyn had snuck to the back of the class as usual, raising a brow when the professor just started to speak. Aw good, she wasn't late? Taking a cleansweep, the best one looking there of course since, well yea...Evelyn walked on over to the side of the path... ...oops. Left hand. Not right hand. Duh. Now that that was sorted out, it was time....to wait. Well, at least this lesson was for everyone right? At least got some flying time in! |
To the brooms already?! Gulp. Fletcher hauled himself up off the ground and grabbed a Cleansweep, glumly dragging it behind him to a spot well enough away from the others that he hopefully wouldn't injure anyone when they were told to take off. He held it waaay out in his left hand like it was some contagious kicking and screaming small child. |
He could sense the excitement in the air as the students each grabbed a broom and lined up. "Mount your brooms and make sure you maintain a firm grip on the handle," Vindictus instructed. "But before I give the signal to push off and fly, I need to discuss some extremely important boundaries." |
Now! Yay! Ellie mounted the broom and was ABOUT to push off when she caught the rest of Vindictus's instructions. Pout. Reaaallly? They had to wait moooore? |
Oh gosh. This was not going to be a normal flying Essential class, was it? Of course it wouldn't be. Professor Vinny was teaching, and he was not normal! Making them play games with pig bladders! Ewww!!! Mounting the broom that was in her left hand, she waited for the Professor to explain these extremely important 'boundaries'. Hopefully one of those involved flying slow. |

Awesome! They were going to get up in the air already! Smiling she moved to mount the broom but paused. Whaaa? Important boundaries? Eh. Mounting the broom anyways, she sighed and stood there, looking at the others. Oh hey, Destiny. Woooooot! Now that her running speed had increased over the summer, how 'bout that flying speed? Hehe. |
YES!!!! Jacob mounted his broom and with a light push, he kicked off the ground... Wait there's was more? Jacob put his sad face on before putting his feet back on the ground. So unfair. Why couldn't he just do this before, he gave out brooms? Would have made much more sense. Plus he really, REALLY wanted to see those tiny firsties struggle. He wanted to fly so close to them and make them pee themselves, he wanted to fly around them and dive right at them to scare the bageebies out of the little ones. |
Marie had grabbed one of the Cleansweep brooms from the rack and mounted it when told. Excited to start flying she frowned when Professor Vinny said they couldn't kick off yet. Of course there had to be boundaries. Looking around she was happy to see Evelyn and Destiny there. Maybe they would be able to get Destiny to fly faster than turtle speed this year... or not. Eh, whatever. It didn't really matter, she was going to fly fast... as long as that wasn't one of the boundaries imposed by Vinny. |
