Located directly next to the castle is a vast expanse of green grass. This is where all Flying Lessons take place unless Professor Vindictus changes the venue.
A broom rack sits on a flat patch of ground and next to it is the professor. If you're here for the lesson, please have a seat on the grass and wait for the professor to begin.
Do not announce that you're late or else points will be taken away.
If you're not here for the lesson and take a broom for a joy ride on the grounds, then expect to face the wrath of Vindictus.
Lara to the Professore carefuly she though wow Invisible barriers whow ould like to run away?! she looked around Oh alot I guess she told herself,As for herself she must stay on the grass for her own saftey. Now less thinking more doing .She mounted her broom closed her eyes to clear her mind took a deep breath and kicked off the ground gently,Wow she was few inches above the ground but she got too much excited so she fall down but she got up quickly and mounted her broom again and decided not to get excited that much.Kicking off the ground again Heyy she was above by few inches too "get a grip on yourself Lara.." she murmered ,OoOoh she was loosing her balance ,Ouch on the ground again. O_____O
Louisa had her broom on her left and listened to the Professor carefully as he explained what to do. That sounded easy. And she wondered why young students fall off their brooms so often. Hmph. They must've been slackers.
"Up!" She ordered the broom which instantly flew up to her stretched hand. Louisa caught it quickly smiling widely. Yay! That's started really well. She mounted her broom and kicked the ground gently to feel herself race forwards and then upwards. Wind started caressing her cheeks as she laughed happily.
This joy didn't last for more than few seconds, Louisa felt her hands loosened on the broom which started zigzagging before landing on the ground. Louisa blinked after she had landed on her butt next to the broom. Whao.. She didn't think that falling off the broom itself was an adventure.
Not far away, another girl fell off the broom. Louisa held her own and hurried towards the girl whom she met at the fountain back in Diagon Alley. "Lara, right?" She smiled at the girl when she was in her earshot. "Remember me? I'm Louisa." Looking at the girl's outfit she figured out that she was a Slytherin. "You became a Slytherin then." She grinned half-heartedly because this particular house was on the top which made Ravenclaw on the before-last rank and that wasn't acceptable to Louisa.
Flying? No, Evan didn't think so. He eyed the broomstick in his left hand, and watched as the others got onto it as if it was a car, flying freely and happily as if it was a nice safe Boeing. Couldn't he rather pass the flying part and get to the second one, which, he dearly hoped, was flying-free? Watching people some more, he guessed he couldn't skip it. Now that he'd come all the way here to actually attend the lesson, he couldn't skip it. Not while the professor was here and had been considerate enough to give them some time to 'have fun' on the broomsticks. Some people had a very different way of 'having fun'. He'd rather stay on the ground and kick a ball around.
Running his right hand through his hair, he finally decided to get on it. What could be the big deal? Surely the professor provided the ground with some sort of cushion-charm to avoid any kind of injuries. The only thing was height, but if he stayed only a few metres above, everything would be cool. He could even tell later that he had flied. Yeah... everything pinkie-happy. Being a wizard required flying sometime in your life, and he felt now could be the moment in his 15-year-life. Yes, he could! Getting on the broom like everyone else, he was glad not many people stayed on the ground, for he didn't want anyone to see him shaking juuust a little. Face tried to look impassive--but he failed greatly, he looked really pale and worried--he tapped the ground with both of his feet and the broomstick got higher... higher... higher... This thing was still rising! Trying not to let panic take his control over, he turned the broom downwards in a very curt move, and it bolted downwards fast. Yes, now he could let panic take over.
Face paler than chalk, he opened his mouth, though nothing came out. It was like in the spooky movies where people froze out of horror. He was frozen too, with everything he had--his mind, his body, even his voice. He was going to crash and die! He shut his eyes out of utter horror. That was it, he was going to die while flying. At least, he could say he had flied, if this could be called as flying. This was supposed to be fun, not something killing!
Just as there were only a few metres to the ground, his mind started to work again and ordered to pull the broom above. His hands obeyed, and the broom bolted upwards. He slowly opened his eyes while panting. He didn't crash! HE DIDN'T CRASH! Levelling the broom so that it would stay at the same height, he laughed freely in a huge relief. He didn't crash! Looking around, it hit him--he was flying. He was really flying! Feeling the cold breeze on his face, he let himself grin in joy.
Hugo took a Cleansweep, and walked up to some more Ravenclaw students. He closely studied his broom, and smiled. He was really excited.
Having flown a couple times before at home, Hugo knew he was good at it. He took a seat on the broom, and kicked off like it was no big whoop. Arrogantly he stared down at some people and started going higher. He was a good distance from the ground, and decided to go a little faster. Holding on to his broom with two hands, he kicked off and with some speed he flew through the air.
Then his broom gave a kick back. Hugo started losing control an twitched around, ending up holding on to his broom, hanging in the sky upside down, seeing other people flying around perfectly flipped vertically. He loosened his legs, and tried to get back on the broom before hitting the ground. The broom flew towards the ground. Hugo could just climb back on his broom before falling, and pulled his broom upwards 2 meters before the ground.
His face was red like a tomato, and saw some people looking at him. "Better take it slow," he thought and blushed.
Slowly going higher, he started seeing more older students climbing higher. He started flying around at a normal speed, going a bit faster. He noticed it had been going better and started to smile. His red face turned normal again, and enjoyedt he flight. Finally something he was good at!
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."
Alice was actually starting to feel comfortable on the broom. She had even slackened her grip slightly on the broom handle.
What. An. Idiot.
Alice could feel that the broom was starting to move faster. She started to pull back at the top, like one was supposed to when they wanted to stop, but needless to say it wasn't working. Alice kept pulling and pulling, but the broom seemed to just go faster and faster.
"Stop. Stop. STOP!" Alice said, practically screaming in terror at the broom.
Alice was squeezing the broom handle so hard at this point that her fingers were starting to hurt. As the broom continued to launch forward Alice let out a small gasp as she saw the barrier getting closer. Oh no. Oh no.
"Stop, stop, you're going to hit the wall!" Alice screamed at the broom as if it was an actual person and could actually understand what she was saying. But no matter...it was too late anyway.
Alice felt herself hit the barrier with such force that it was as if someone had slammed a brick into her chest. Alice had somehow managed to slid off the back of the broom at the point of impact, and was now falling. Her worse nightmare come to life Alice hastily reached out and grabbed the broom, hanging there, utter terror filling her entire body. Alice attempted to take a deep breath but couldn't, the wind still knocked out of her.
After a couple of moments and much coughing Alice managed to breathe. She looked down, her arms starting to shake from the difficulty of holding her up. Alice felt her breathing start to quicken.
"It's okay. Just don't panic," Alice said, desperately looking around her. Somebody help?

Marie laughed when Evelyn said it would probably take Destiny the whole class period to get off the ground. "Yeah, you're prob..." she started but then looked down and seen that Destiny was actually off the ground and heading towards them.
Geez, Destiny heard her all the way up here. It was as if the girl had super sonic hearing. "Aww come on Destiny, live life in the fast lane for once. Take a chance with something other than potions." Yeah, Marie may be friends with Destiny again but that didn't mean she was going to let her live down what happened over the summer. "You know being safe isn't always fun. Come on, have some fun with me and Evelyn."
What was Evelyn talking about? A bubble suit! Marie could just see it now. Destiny in a bubble suit that bounced when she fell off her broom. "Yeah Destiny, I'm sure we can get a bubble suit for you. Then you could fly just as fast as us and not have to worry about getting hurt." Although she didn't know how fast Destiny would be able to fly in a bubble suit.

"Come on guys, lets fly," she said as she leaned forward and started to move. "I'll even start out slow just for you Destiny," she said to her friend who was just hovering there.
After she feeling better, Freya mounted the broom and kicked off the ground. Suddenly the broom was off again in the air. She steady her broom at a current speed. She didn't want to hit the wall again for the second time. She already did enough damage to her right hand. She sighed. She looked around the view from the Quidditch Pitch. It was beautiful. Oh. How she wished to bring her camera with her. She could take some beautiful picture from up here. She was so deep in thought, she didn't realize that she lean forward and the broom began to fly faster. When she realized this it was to late.
SMACK..
And once again she was greeted by the invisible wall. This time she fell into the ground. "Arrrggghhh..Stupid wall..!!" she muttered to herself and wiping the dirt off her uniform. That was the second time she hit the wall. "What's wrong with me?" she asked herself

It's a funny thing, the feeling of complete numbness in one's face. Carr was certainly experiencing this sensation as the cold, autumn air whipped her hair across her face. Her eyes were shut tightly, something she knew was a bad, bad, bad, bad, bad idea, since it meant that she couldn't effective steer the broom, but she seemed to at least not be running into anything.
Plucking up her courage, she opened her eyes and almost laughed out loud. She was certainly going at break-neck speeds, but the broom had kindly only elevated her between two and three feet off the ground. No height involved. She grinned slightly and, growing bold, decided to try and steer the broom to the right. The broom, obviously not expecting the girl to finally take control of it so suddenly, pulled against her, which resulted in Carr lying on her back on the grass once more. She laughed this time, since she had fallen about as far as she would have fallen out of bed.

This was the strangest sensation. Ty's stomach - which usually needs a LOT of jostling to upset it - felt like jelly. He kept on going up then down then up then down and his insides were protesting. . . very weirdly.
Hmm. Maybe that was enough diving?
Pulling out of what had to be his twentieth dive, or something around that number, Ty flew towards where people seemed to be hitting the invisible wall. He was kinda curious to see what it would feel like. Slowing down to a snail pace, Ty jumped up in surprise as he felt his the end of his broom touch something. Leaning lower, he tried to force the broom onwards but nothing happened. Even lower, he went, until a pain erupted on his forehead.
"YEEOUCH!" he let out, rubbing his head furiously to make the pain go away. It really WAS an invisible wall of sorts. Eyeing the what appeared to be thin air with much distrust, the young Ravenclaw twisted his broom to the side and began circulating the pitch, leaning over every so often to touch the weird wall.
It was like there was this big invisible bubble encasing them inside this pitch. Weird though.

PFFFFFFFT!
Really. There was absolutely nothing wrong with flying slow. Not only was it SAFE, it was easier to look at all the..grass around them. Yeah! Those tree hugging nature people would appreciate Destiny and her slow flying! Scoffing, she lent forward on her broom to pick up a little more speed. She didn't want her friends complaining that she was the reason they had no fun. When Marie mentioned the potion, Destiny looked away from her. She could feel her face growing red at the thought of what had happened during that whole ordeal.
And Marie was not going to let her live that down, was she?
"I am having fun!" she said, turning back to face Marie and Evelyn once her little bout of embarrassment passed. "And no. I already have a bubble suit, and I do not want to wear it. Besides, it weighs the broom down and makes me fly even slower." And Destiny was very, VERY serious about that.
Hearing even more crashes, she turned to face where the noise was coming from. Sweet Merlin! People were testing out their miming skills on the field! Professor Vinny was not going to like that at all! Or maybe the man would. The students were really good and they even had the sound effects down. Hearing Marie speak, though, made her remember the invisible force-field wall that Vinny mentioned, and the students were not practicing their miming skills. Boring.
"Riiiight." she drawled when Marie motioned them to fly, and leaning on her broom more, she started to move. "First one to crash wins."
She was not serious about that.

Jenny continued zooming around the grass, careful not to go near the barriers this time. (The pain was fading away, but it was still there in full swing.) She then decided to do a few loops...ow, that was not a good idea. Not only did she get super nauseous, but it also reminded of bad memories when her father tried to make her ride those Muggle "roller coasters." Maybe she could just try go up and down instead of doing loops.
Lara got up off the ground and found a girl talking to her. "Yes, I am Lara. Hi Louisa." She dusted her clothes off as the girl mentioned Slytherin. Lara grinned, "Yes. I always wanted to be a Slytherin. And you're a Ravenclaw. Congrats." She didn't know if the girl wanted that or not though.
"How's flying? " Lara asked Louisa noting that her clothes were clean compared to her own. "I'm still trying to not fall off the broom so soon." She said.
"It's fine. I'm trying to cope with being up in the air." She answered the girl and then mounted her broom saying, "How about I fly for a bit and you observe me and then we switch places?" Louisa suggested happily.
Without waiting for Lara's answer, she took off quickly causing the broom to speed up in the air. Louisa wasn't sitting on the broom anymore but 'lying' on it with her hands wrapped around so hard. "Waaaaaaaaaa!!" She was yelling while the broom continued to speed upwards fast messing Louisa's hair and clothes on the way, and then it started to slow down till it stopped completely in the vertical position.
Louisa opened her eyes slowly as she felt the wind no more. A yell was out from the girl's mouth instantly. Everything was so far away and she was suspended in the air dangling from this broom. "LARA!" She called over to the girl who stood on the ground watching her or whatever it was she was doing.
Louisa shut her eyes and prayed that her friend would know how to fly over to her and instruct her on how to make this stupid broom move correctly! "Bloody Hell! I hate flying!" She complained loudly her eyes were still closed.
Now that that accomplishment feeling was gone, Evan noticed that this flying business was a little painful. He didn't feel comfortable at all on this little piece of wood. It was hard, and it hurt his bum. Why didn't they just stick a cushion on it or something? And then there was wind. It blew into his first face, then the whole body, which made him shiver. His face and hands felt sore. If he could turn around and the the wind to his back, he could at least save his face and hands, but he was afraid of doing anything to the broomstick because of the deadly experience he had just lived. He knew that at some point he had to turn it at some point because of the invisible walls, but he just didn't want that moment to come. He was going pretty slow now, and he was bored because of that too, but again, he was afraid to interfere with the charmed wood.
Gathering all his courage, he pulled the broom slightly to the right, and looked down to see if he had succeded in turning. What a wrong idea that proved to be. Just as he flicked his eyes down to the ground, he noticed in an instant how high he was flying, and in the next instant he felt his height horror take over his body. He almost passed out, and he definitely fell backwards. As he was falling backwards, though, his instinct kicked in to hold the brookstick stronger to prevent the fall. And of course, with his weight now backwards, this only resulted in him getting higher. He lost control of the broomstick and almost turned upside-down when the piece of wood flung to the right and he fell a good couple of metres down with a threat of actually falling off the broomstick.
This time, he managed to shriek a little with eyes completely shut again, and that shriek helped him get his stress out a bit, which was enough for his reasonable brain to work. He straightened his broomstick, and opened his eyes as a first step. He fixed his gaze at somewhere around his eye level. There was no way he was going to look down until he got off. And, he demanded to get off. Inclining the broom ever so slightly downwards to get down slooowly, another problem popped up in his head. How was he supposed to get off?! Deep breaths, Evan. All of a sudden he hoped that there'd better be a lot of time until the moment they had to get off.
Fee got onto her broom. She was really excited because she loved flying and had trained with her older brother.
She pushed her feet off the ground and started flying.
The feeling of freedom came over her.

Laps. Ty enjoyed them because they were relaxing BUT they quickly became rather boring. Swerving to the right, he pushed the broom down and went into a dive, reaching one arm out to touch the grass before he zoomed up again and made for the hoops. Half closing his eyes, Ty pretended there was a quaffle under his arm and instead of harmless flyers around, it was the opposing team.
Dodging and twisting around invisible players, the third year kept up a live commentating in his head as he inched closer and closer to the hoops. Adams with the quaffle, dodging NoName there and- OOH, CLOSE call with that bludger... Nice spin roll however, and Adams is still in the game, quaffle tucked safely under his arm. Uh oh, the other team better be aware, Adams is closing in on the goalhoops... Expertly, he ducks and swerves around the defence... he shoots, HE SCORES!! ANOTHER goal for Ravenclaw!!
Ty grinned as he pretended to celebrate, doing a large loop in the air and grinning from ear to ear. Gah, he missed Quidditch. Granted, her hadn't really played it properly ever but he knew that he could do it. It was just one of those things. . . Stupid tournament. It was exciting and all, but WHY was the Quidditch cancelled?! What, were they afraid that the games would take away excitement from the tri-wizard tournament?

Lara opened her mouth to say ‘no’ because she didn’t have time to observe ‘beginners’ to flying. She’s heard a lot about flying from her family and she tried it a couple of times back home, but never was an expert in it.
As soon as the girl darted up in the sky, Lara’s eyes followed her concerned. “That is a stupid girl.. ” Lara shielded her eyes with her hand as she followed Louisa’s route. She noticed that the girl kept flying upwards without actually pushing the broom slightly to the front so she could fly properly.
“Look out!” Lara shouted to the girl whom obviously didn’t hear because the broom stopped suddenly held in that position. Lara rolled here eyes as she heard her calling Lara, mounted her broom carelessly and pushed it up gently.
Her hands clutched tightly to the broom and she was moving a bit too slowly than she liked, but she didn’t want to end up in Louisa’s position either. “I’m here!” Lara called back as soon as she was close enough to Louisa. “Hey open your eyes and don’t be a coward! You just didn’t push your broom forwards.” She explained to the girl and gave her a smuggin face. See the benefit of being a pure-blood?
Now that Freya had shown Rowan how to stop her broom, she decided to try again. This time she pushed off a bit more easily. As she started to ascend, she pulled back slightly and was able to stay just a couple of inches above the grass. Rowan took a couple of turns around the field, feeling out the brooms movement. This is fun, she thought to herself as she took the next turn a little more quickly.

Following Evelyn's gaze she seen someone hit something that wasn't there. "You'd think they would listen to the man. He did tell them there were barriers that would stop them." Really, when would people start listening. Those fools deserved to get hurt if they couldn't follow simple directions.
"Come on guys, lets fly," she said as she leaned forward and started to move. "I'll even start out slow just for you Destiny," she said to her friend who was just hovering there.

Hehe. Poor Destiny.
Evelyn may have took the chance to forget about the love potion incident, but apparently Marie was not letting the girl get away with it that easily. Leaning forward on her broom just a bit more, she started to inch around Destiny, circling her the Slytherin watched as a few more people hit the barriers, shaking her head at the thought that maybe they were doing it on purpose for the heck of it. Stupid people. For one, they should have flew around to find out where the barriers were first and how far they went and second of all, how could hitting an invisible barrier at speeds like this and find it fun? She swore she saw someone standing back up with a HUGE smile on their face.
Hearing Marie say they should start flying, Evelyn giggled and flipped herself upside down in front of Destiny when she started to move at snail pace as well. "Don't you mean, first one not to crash wins?" Hehehehe. Of course at the speed Destiny was going, she'd probably win, but Evelyn wasn't going to easily give up. Flying in circles again, only this time a lot faster so she could get up enough momentum to sit straight on the broom again, the Slytherin paused for just a moment before glancing to the other two. "I'm gunna find out where these barriers are. Be right back."
Looking straight forward, the fourth year girl moved probably more slowly then Destiny ever had, waiting for the broom handle to hit something. Of course, she'd been going so slow that when it did hit a barrier, it wouldn't have even left a scratch. Aw, here it was. With her hand on it, she started to glide around the area, making note of where the barrier landed and was so she wouldn't actually crash into it like some people.
Fee got onto her broom. She was really excited because she loved flying and had trained with her older brother.
She pushed her feet off the ground and started flying.
The feeling of freedom came over her.
With a bit of a speed Hugo flew in front of a Slytherin girl, not knowing he flew in her way. "Oh I'm sorry!" he said, as he stopped his broom in mid-air, and another guy almost bumped into him. "I'm Hugo, Ravenclaw firstie," he smiled.

"Uggggghguhguhuhghhuhggggggggg." Fletcher rolled over in the grass and stared up at the sky, blinking a few times before he sat up to retrieve his broom. Damn that wall had HURT. Vindictus certainly wasn't playing around when it came to flying. At least he wasn't upchucking anymore though.
The boy stood up, frowned down at the grass stains on his knees and legs, and then picked up his broom and re-mounted it. All right. Now. He was still in control, right? So he'd just kick off nice and easy and maybe hover around.
The boy slowly pushed one foot off the ground and the broom rose about three feet in the air. THREE FEET THAT WAS ENOUGH OKAY. Whewwwwweee. Fletcher slowlyyyy angled the front of the broomstick toward the opposite direction of the grassy patch and for once, the broom slowly started humming that way.
Nice and slow. He was being passed by butterflies. Perfect.

"Alice? Its gonna be fine. Just DONT PANIC. I'm only a couple of feet below you, so I'm going to come up slowly. Get on the back of my broom, and keep hold of yours. Okay?" She said slowly, making sure Alice could understand her shaky voice.
Alice let out a huge sigh of relief as she heard Rubiey's voice beneath her. Oh thank the heavens above!
"Rubiey, that's you right? I don't understand what happened. One moment I was just cruising along and then my broom just wouldn't stop. It was like it had a mind of its own or something!" Alice chanced looking down and saw Rubiey was only a couple of feet beneath her, gliding up slowly so that she didn't crash into the wall as well.
Once Alice felt that Rubiey was close enough her, she let go of the broom with one hand and grabbed the back of Rubiey's, sliding on to it gently before pulling her broom down onto her lap. She wanted to break the broom in half but figured Professor Vindictus would not appreciate that at all.
"Thank you so much Rubiey. You are a life saver!" Alice gave her a hug from behind before making sure she had a firm grip on Rubiey's broom.

Fee was flying quite a bit over the ground and she had to concentrate on ot crossing the borders.
She shrieked as a boy got in her way. She stopped right in front of him.
"Hey", she smiled
friendly," i am Feenella, Slytherin Firstie."
Hee seemed nice.
"So how is your flight going?"
Fee started flying around again but paying attention she was still close enough to Hugo.
