The weather is wonderful, almost as wonderful as in Mexico, and Maya might even look a bit happier for it...you could say, not so strict. Maybe.
As you head down towards the lesson area, you notice the bonfire is nowhere to be seen - it being daylight and much warmer and all that - but the logs that make up the benches are ready for you to sit on them. You might also notice that Professor Saylen has not arrived yet...which could make you wonder, was the lesson supposed to start today? Are you early, perhaps? Or maybe you are so very late!
Stick around and find out, or leave, it's your choice. But please don't throw a riot. Just sit down and...'relax'.
OOC: The lesson will start in a couple of hours - around 6pm EST - so feel free to let your characters arrive, settle down and maybe have a little chat with friends and soon to be friends. Just don't spam the place. Ta!

"Hey there Alice!" the Slytherin lad greeted the young blond as he took the spot just where the sunshine was filtering through. "Is this guy serious, he's gonna be conducting the class?"
Because if he will....
Alice looked up at the sound of footsteps approaching. She smiled warmly as Salander took a seat next to her.
"Hey Salander!" Alice said warmly. "How are you doing?"
Alice looked at the man that Salander was talking about. "Is he conducting our class instead of Professor Saylen?" Alice asked with raise eyebrows. Not to question whether or not the man was qualified but....
"Where do you think Professor Saylen is?"
Just as Alice was asking Salander Professor Saylen appeared with a rather large box that was making quite a bit of noise.
"Oh..there she is," Alice said with a smile, it instantly falling off her face as Professor Saylen took five points from Gryffindor for the boy's actions. Oh dear!

Okay...no one found 'her' joke amusing.
Why, Maya thought it was. Anywho, she waited for everyone to take their seats and whatnot before finally announcing what the lesson would be all about. "We will not be venturing into unknown forests to search for many-legged creatures today." Bring the sad noises, "Instead, we are staying here, enjoying the weather and making some..." she kneeled by the box, opened it, and took out a scissor and a handful of cottonballs. "...creatures."
Yaaaaaaaaaay.
"I am going to give each one of you a card. And on that card you will find some trivia for a creature, be it muggle or magical, and from that you have to construct your creature." Yaaaaay. "For example," she picked up the stack of cards from inside the box and stood up straight again, "Here, it says 'This creature... Is a native of Borneo. Has eight legs and eight eyes. Makes clicking sounds when agitated or excited." She looked around to see if anyone would guess what it is. Gosh, she surely hoped they would. But, to save her from dissapointment. "So we can deduct that it is fast, likes warm places...so maybe no thick fur, and can see very well. Acromantula, right?"
Right?
This should be fun.
Fun watching their weird creatures and maybe how far from the real ones they were. Hehehe.
"Okay, each of you can come up and get a card," bending down, she hauled up another box from inside the box. And another smaller box from that one, making a row. "and then find your items that you wish to use." Gesturing at the boxessss.
OOC: So this is how it's going to work.
I'd like for you to have your character think/whisper to her friend/whatever what kind of creature he/she would like to do. For example ''Maya hoped she could do a muggle creature because they were more interesting.'' OR ''Making a muggle animal would be fun because Maya hadn't seen many of those''. If you don't mind what creature it is, have her/him think that.
Then, choosing a creature for you, going by if you want muggle or magical, I will PM you a small list describing the animal, which then you/your character must go by when creating your model.
Let your imagination run loose and find whatever you want to find in those boxes. But, ofcourse, let's all follow the SS Board rules, yes?
Remember, this is for fun - Maya will not remove points if your character doesn't know what kind of creature has those certain qualities. She'd rather see you use your imagination than acting as if they do know when they really don't ; )
But, up to you.

Making some creatures?
Frowning, the Slytherin leaned forward on the bench slightly to see what was in the box. In other words then, this was an arts and crafts class. Pfft, how was she supposed to make something outdoors? Where it could get dirty and just totally ruin her project? This was...unacceptable.
However, once the Professor picked up a card, the Slytherin's eyes widened at the description. OMG! There were acromantula cards in there?!?! She wasn't going to put that one back was she? NO! Don't put it back in with the others!
Ehhh. Now that she knew that there were acromantula cards in there, Evelyn really didn't want to get one, but there she was...reluctantly standing up and lazily making her way over to the card pile. She better not get a muggle creature card. That would fail soooo much.
And that had nothing to do with the fact that she didn't know all that much about muggle creatures. Or maybe it did?

Thank goodness that Gryffindor wasn't actually going to be the professor for this lesson. Vashti might've questioned the real professor's sanity for letting one student teach the others about creatures like these. But now that it was clear this class was going to be run by the profesosr, Vashti was able to relax a little. She relaxed even further when it was clear they weren't going into the forest or handling other dangerous creatures. What a relief... Making a creature wouldn't be so bad, right?
She sure hoped not.
The Ravenclaw stood to go pick up a card. She didn't really care whether it was a Muggle or magical creature, so long as it wasn't an Acromatula. Though since the professor had read that particular card outloud and answered it, Vashti assumed it wouldn't be put back into the pile. Hopefully.

Getting up from his bench he moves to get his card Hopeing for somthing that would be as much fun as the spiders, sharks yea that would be cool, looking to see if he could rember where she had stuck back the acromantula card so he would not pull it "wish me luck Em "
Emmaleigh watched as Michael got out to get his card, before she moved from her seat. She stood behind him in line waiting for her card. When he drew his, she asked him, "What does yours say? Is it Muggle, or Magical? I hope I get something cool, like a unicorn, or crup. Well, at least something magical." After he moved out of the way, Em stepped up to the cards and took the one on top. hmm, she wondered what she got.

When Professor Saylen finally did arrive at the class area, Simon couldn't help but winch slightly as she took the points Josh had pretended to take from him off from himself for his actions pretending to be the professor. Guess it serves him right in some respect, he mused absently as he eyed the box the woman carried.
So whatever they were dealing with was small, that knowledge brought no great comfort since he had already learned in previous years and previous classes that size didn't matter much on the level of danger. But the Gryffindor was just a little relieved when she mentioned crafting their own creatures for it was a nice change of pace from their last adventure.
As a few of his classmates got up in response to the professor's instructions, Simon took his turn, getting up from his bench to retrieve a card of his own. It would be interesting to say the least to see what type of creature he'd have, not caring whether muggle or wizarding for they each had their curiousities.

Aww, booo! They were not going into the forest today? [/sarcasm]
Destiny was glad for that. Even though she liked looking at all the SPIDERS last lesson, the feeling of being in the forest gave her the heebie jeebies. That was not a very pleasant journey, and she didn't even get to keep a spider! Her jar on her nightstand was still unoccupied.
Leaning in her seat, she listened to the Professor explain what they were going to be doing. Art and crafts? Sweet! Hopefully they would be allowed to keep the things they make, because Destiny was sure that whatever she made, it would be the CUTEST thing ever! Yeah!
Jumping up, she skipped her way over and secretly hoping for a muggle creature, she picked a card.
Dun, dun, duuuuun!
She was scared to look!

Kurumi heard herself gasp a little as Professor Saylen pulled out a card with the scary spiders from last class. While she hoped her card would be something of the magical variety, she most certainly did not want it to be anything like those creepy crawly spider monsters...or a giant cockroach. Those were frightening too. No, bugs most certainly were not on Kurumi's list of creatures, magical or not, that she was interested in. Something fluffy and cute would be nice...she did like cute.
Waiting in the line that had formed as other students received their cards from the professor, Kurumi felt her heart pounding in her chest and she tried not to show her nervous excitement in her face. If her creature was anything like Chibi - hopefully more fluffy like - then she would be in heaven.
Slowly, yet with an eagerness that almost sent the stack flying all over the place, Kurumi took the top card and flipped it over. Slowly, she began to read the description as her eyes grew wider and wider with each word.

Well at least he wasn't going to be on the menu today, Diggy thought to himself with a slight smirk. He didn't have to pretend he wasn't scare of spiders today and that was always a good thing if you asked him.
He hauled himself up off his log and queued up to pick a card. He would love to get a dragon card, those were his favorites, but luck was never with him when it came to lessons and he just knew that he would get a muggle card for like a house cat or something.

Just when Treyen started to like Saylen...er, not really. But, either way, perhaps this was for the best since there was something rather small, or not too small to return to Saylen today. It was best kept in his bag, for now, and hopefully it wouldn't eat anything in there.
Mmmmm. Creature, huh? Well, he'd better get something exciting and extraordinary, be it muggle or magical, it has to be the most amazing creature ever! Perhaps something immortal, like Gilderoy, because we all know that he's a part of history, right?
The boy tapped his fingers as he waited for...what? A card?
Huh? They're gonna making some creatures? That was fun. At least they won't go near that Forbidden Forest and looking for some eight freaky creature again like their last lesson.
Freya stood up from her seat and making her way to the waiting line to retrieve her card. She saw her Hufflepuff friend, Emma just retrieved her card, she waved at her. She wondered what card she would get. She didn't really care what creature she'd get as long as it not spiders or any other freaky creatures, but maybe muggle creatures will be interesting.
Browncoat l Extra Syrup l Kita's Strong Confident Other Half l Lemon Patch
It was possible that there was the slightest bit of disappointment on the young puff's face when she realized that there was gonna be no adventures or actual magical creatures in this lesson. If it had been there, though, it wasn't anymore. Just a pleasant expression on her face as the woman continued to talk.
Least they weren't going into the forest again.
They were going to make the creatures? Sweetness. Making stuff was always fuuuun. And it would be magical creatures, at least she hoped she would get a magical creature since that was what the lesson was about. She could make muggle creatures at home. Heh.
Hopping off of her bench, she skipped over to the box and picked up a card. Hoping for a awesome magical creature. Mmhmmm.

Creating creatures... That sounded weird to Eino because both words had the same first five letters. He got up and stood in line to get a card as he thought about the possibilities. Maybe it would be lame, small creature like a pixie or a gnome or an enormous, monstrous, super awesome creature like a hydra, dragon, mammoth, dinosaur or anything else that was huge and could eat him in one single bite! Eino wasn't familiar with a lot of creatures, especially non-magical ones, so he was really curious to see what everyone got and how they would create their creatures.
"It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you are not."
Making creatures huh? It was like being back in that arts and crafts store near where she lived. Her dad used to take her there all the time when she was younger. Alice leaned over slightly to look in the box. Hmm...
Alice didn't really have a preference to what she got, but she figured it would be fun to do a muggle animal since she didn't know magical animals extremely well. She waited until Professor Saylen came around with a box for her to figure out what she was going to have to try and create.

Fletcher sneaked into class, behind Professor Saylen and hopefully just before he would be declared tardy. He blinked as she seemed to be taking away five points from the Gryffindorks for no... reason? but shrugged it off and took a seat by Melanie.
Hopefully there would be no dumb dugbogs today... or giant freaky spiders..... Fletcher didn't say anything or do anything 'cept for nodding at Salander and nudging Mel with a LOOK toward the professor's noisy box.
Noisy boxes!!!!
Melanie shot a grin at Fletcher as he sat down beside her. When he nudged her she nodded knowingly, continuing to eye the box suspiciously. It wasn't making noise anymore... maybe whatever that was inside it was asleep.
Yeah. That had to be it.

Well, that was really anticlimactic. Melanie had been hoping for some sort of cuddly!!! magical creature, not cotton balls and pipe cleaners. Her shoulders sunk a little, but Melanie comforted herself with the thought that at least there wasn't some sort of dangerous creature in the box that would feel inclined to nom them. At least the cotton balls weren't carnivorous.
Hoping she'd get a card with a magical creature on it, she hoped up from her seat on the log bench and made her way over to Professor Saylen and her box. Then Melanie picked a card off the top.

Making creatures it was alot better than being chased by spiders. Now what would I like to make. Looking aroud she seen someof the students thining really hard on the creatures. MUGGLE or MAGIC, That was easy she grew up in a muggle nieghborhood so she seen muggle creatures. She wanted a magic creature seeing that she didnt know many It didnt matter what kind it was as llong as it wasnt ugly.
Well, they all looked pretty enthusiastic about this. No annoying fainting people or scared looks on their faces. Great.
She watch each of them as they got their card, getting quite amused at how their creature models would look like. Maybe she shouldn't have written down so many facts...
"Go ahead and pick whatever you want from the boxes to begin working on your creature. There is muggle glue if you still have not mastered the sticking charm. But I warn you all, should you decide it would be fun to glue other students...or me..." she paused, staring at everyone should they dare to grin at the idea, "I will cover you up in feathers or scales." Si?
OOC: You will be awarded points for participation. Also, you have chance to get additional points if you actually construct and animal at home. That is, get your paints out, the multi colored paper and whatever else you think could help make your creature. Then, take a picture of it and post it here by the end of the lesson for me to grade. If you do not wish to make something by hand, you can explain your process through creative RPing of your creature-crafting.
Again, I am not looking for you to make a ZOMG!fantastical real life model, and it does not have to be a big project, seeing as we only have about a week. I want to see your creativity and the work you put behind it.
Deadline: November 21st - Midnight EST.
Maya will be here to help you unglue yourself from a cottonball should you need any
And don't hesitate to PM me if you have questions or anything.

Alice looked down at her card and smiled softly to herself. The first thing that popped in to her head, although she wasn't sure it was what the Professor had in mind, was a Jerboa. Kind of amusing little things they were, and they seemed to fit the description on the card.
One a lose piece of parchment paper Alice wrote down all the items she figured she would need:
SPOILER!!: Alice's List
Cotton balls (painted a tannish color)
Long pieces of paper (to make the ears)
Long piece of string with some fluff tied to it (for the tail)
Alice went over to the box and sorted through it for a couple of minutes, making sure she got everything she needed before returning to her log. She laid all the ingredients out in front of her and took a deep breath. Alrighty...here goes nothing!

As Melanie read her card her eyes widened. Her creature sounded creepy... not cuddly at all. She didn't mind in the least, though, considering the fact she would be creating it and not actually facing it. Melanie already had a ideas about it's appearance running through her head. She was fairly certain it was magical (YAY!), since the card said it could talk, but she didn't want to look in her textbook. Melanie figured it would be funner working from her imagination, anyway, without any specific creature in mind.
She bent down on her knees to dig through the box, about to grab some colored paper when Professor Saylen started to give them further instruction. Melanie froze with her arm already outstretched, peering up at the professor and listening as she spoke. The Hufflepuff had to fight back a grin of amusement as she to warned them not to pour glue on each other... or her. Bwaha.
As soon as the professor finished, Melanie began to gather supplies for the first of the three parts of the creature, starting with the paper she'd been reaching for a few seconds ago, a pair of scissors, some markers, and clay.
If she needed anything else, she'd just come back later. Arms laden with crafty stuff, she headed back to the log she'd been sitting on earlier.

Salander had to hide the snicker that nearly escaped his lips, not wanting to offend the young Gryffindors he sat with. He for one found the Professor docking points to be hilarious in the most anti-climactic sense. As the saying goes... the joke's on who now eh?
He returned Fletcher's nod as he saw his buddy take a seat next to Melanie, then spotted the Slytherin squirt. He couldnt quite see from where he sat, but he did have this morbid curiosity if Diggy's nose ever got fixed from the last Flying class. Not that he would have offered to fix it, and he couldnt even if he wanted to-- which he didnt. It could be said that as far as invasion of personal space was concerned, the Slytherin boys were now even, just in case anybody was keeping score.
He turned his attention back to the Professor as she opened the box and started giving out instructions. Artwork? Okayyyy. The lad should be happy that he doesnt have to worry about bite marks from little critters this class right? All he has to do is to convince the Professor that the random bits and thingamabobs he'll somehow manage to stick together is an actual creature, not something found in the school's kitchen rubbish bin.
He stepped up to the box and drew out a card. Was this a muggle creature or a magical creature? Would it make a difference once Salander was done anyway?

Catching up... Simon, the real Professor :D and Evelyn
9 3/4 ticket holder / The SS Mentalist / Sherlock / The Master Of Everything / Josh + <3 = Ev
Yes, Simon was right again. How he managed to be always right was a mystery to Josh but he was right anyway. ''Yes, you will be learning about she-snakes'' he said with a nod right after grinning at Evelyn. ''And...'' he began yet could not voice the rest of it since the professor appeared out of nowhere. Where did she come from? He had not seen her. Plus she did not only appear out of nowhere, she also took points from Gryffindor. Hmmm. That was not cool.
Giving the professor a fake sad look, the Gryffindor boy followed Evelyn to the benches and sat next to her. He did not even look at the boxes the professor had brought with her. Well...he did not care what was or were in those boxes. Oh...by the way, where was his bag? Wondering this the boy stood up and looked around for a minute or so. The bag was....nowhere in sight now. He could not see it in the crowd of students.
Whatever...
It was not important. Sitting back he tried to listen to the professor as she spoke. Sooooo he needed to get a card. All right. After playing with Evelyn's hair some, Josh stood up again and walked forward to get a card. Since he knew all Muggle creatures getting a Muggle creature card was going to be boring so he preferred it to be a magical creature card if anyone asked him.
