Kurumi laughed as the little mushroom got smaller and smaller until she had to kneel down to see it. The cute little boggart-mushroom tilted its little mushroomy head at the two girls and then ran back under the sheet from where it had come from.

Kurumi looked back at Jenny and, after exchanging high fives, put her arm around her Ravenclaw bestie.

"First the numbers 2 and 7 and now our first boggart," she laughed. Her and Jenny were proving to be a great combination.

Jenny grinned as she high-fived back. She wasn't expecting the boggart to retreat back so early already. She and Kurumi make a great team after all.

"Ugh, don't even remind me of those two numbers." Jenny shuddered at the thought of Ancient Runes, was it? "Nowadays I consider three to be my lucky number."

Marie stood in line not wanting her turn to come for this exercise. She wasn't really sure what was going to pop out of that desk at her and that is what really scared her the most. Sure she knew there were a few things she was afraid of, like spiders for one but for some reason she had a feeling it wasn't going to be a spider that popped out of that desk. No, it was going to be something much worse.

Hesitantly making her way to the front of the line she unholstered her wand and held it tight. She was so not ready for this. Whatever this was. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath then...

....just as she opened her eyes she came to notice that there was a letter....no it was a HOWLER! in front of her. That red shade was hard to miss and if her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, it looked like it was steaming. Before she could even reach for it, it busted open and it began to yell at her. Oh NO! It was Mina's voice coming from it.....

So now it was time to face the real boggart. Grayson couldn't distract herself with amusement over Salander and his focus on Humphrey Bogart anymore, and the fact she hadn't figured out anything funny yet bothered her the slightest bit. She still didn't see how anyone could decide on what to turn the boggart into without knowing what form it was going to take in the first place, and she took the time to watch the people ahead of her in line deal with theirs. Part of her thought it seemed harder than it seemed hypothetically, and that only made her more nervous. Not to mention she still had no idea what form the boggart would take when it saw her. And the line really seemed to move faster than she wanted it to. Without her finding out if Muggle actors were going to make an appearance.

She really wished she had Draco with her, as the little furball would have calmed her down exponentially. But then she started wondering if ferrets had boggarts, and that thought occupied her enough that next thing she knew she'd looked up and was at the head of the line. Gulp. Her green eyes stayed trained on Professor Carlton as the desk was opened, and then slowly tracked over to the figure rising from the furniture. At first, she thought it was a dementor, as it was hooded and everything, which would have been kind of cool. Like she was like Harry, but then it raised decidedly not-scabby hands to lower the hood and revealed the figure of Professor Lafay. Glaring at her like she was one of the students who caused all the problems in class, and all her worries about needing to boycott Potions classes and teach herself came back. The professor could be terrifying, and for a moment she stood, quailing under that glare.

Evelyn smiled sweetly at the Professor when the whole last name deal had been fixed before scooting her chair backward...

Away from the boggart.

FAR...away.

Crossing her arms, the Slytherin watched as one by one, students went against their fears. She had to admit, she was pretty scared of what Cookie girl's fear was. That thing was HUGE! What in Merlin's name was it anyways!? Mutated...thing.

However, the fourth year sat up straight when she saw Marie was next. C'mon Marie! She could totally do this!

Evelyn's eyes widened however, when she saw what her friend's boggart was. Or in this case...heard what her friend's boggart was. Evan? KISS him? WHAT?! When did THIS happen!? And who's was that voice?

Cameron nodded anxiously. She didn't want to do this. She didn't want to see it. Not now. Not yet. At his question, her eyes flashed to him and she didn't reply, biting her finger tip. "I don't really know what it'll be.." She shrugged. Lies.
He scowled and the girl slid her hand into his, squeezing gently. "It can't be all that bad. What's your's?" It occured to her, vaguely, that she was asking him to divulge what she didn't want to. Hypocrite.

She grinned. "D'you reckon Carlton would fall for it?" She eyed her head of house and laughed. "She's pretty tight with Moretti.. I reckon she'd check." Dang. No skipping class for fake sickness then. Poutttttt.

The Prefect smiled and nodded. No use lying was there? "Really truly. Then again, I hated everyone." She giggled and poked his cheek affectionately. "For real?" She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. "I was a really big pain in the neck in my fifth year.." She'd had no people skills and the emotional receptor or a baby.

At least Cameron had learned to care.

She shrugged. "I chased you down and smushed your face into the main street of the DA. I reckon we squared it off." She was actually rather proud of herself. She could run - when she was avenging something. heh.

She scowled at him. "That was so not funny. It was cold and wet and I was sopping and you just LAUGHED." She poked him. She HATED running. "Then you made me run another two laps." She glared at him. Evil, fit boy. EVIL.

Something funny. "Did you ever find that lizard in your hair?" She asked him seriously. Because in retrospect, that had been hilarious. Getting up at Carlton's instruction, she waited for Oliver to stand and reluctantly.

VERY reluctantly.

Draaaaaaaaaaaaaaagged her begrudging corpse to the line. Where she let a few people go in front of her - out of courtesy AHEM - and stood worriedly at the back. She really didn't want to do this.

"Can you tell her I'm sick? About to reech?" The closer she got to the front, the truer that lie became.

Marie stood there in shock with her mouth open as she listened to the howler yelling at her. She knew her boggart would be something scary but she wasn't prepared for this. Kissing Evan was something she didn't want anyone to know, especially Mina. Now the whole class knew. Great, now it was sure to get back to Mina about what had happened.

Gripping her wand tighter than she thought possible she pointed it at the howler. "Riddikulus!" Nothing happened though. The howler just kept repeating itself over and over. She knew she needed to think of something funny but how could she do that at a time like this?

Oh Merlin, why had she gotten in that line? She should have just stayed in her seat and prayed the Professor didn't notice she didn't participate.

Yeah, a little too late for that now.

C'moooon Marie!

Dear Merlin, the girl had Evelyn whining in her own thoughts. Hearing the howler start repeating itself, the Slytherin's own cheeks were starting to turn a nice lovely red color. Embarrassed for Marie? Yes. Yes she was.

Standing up, the black eyed girl took a few steps forward, poking Marie in the back before haphazardly taking a step back. Don't want to get too close to the boggart and all. "Marie..." she whispered/hissed.

"Make it sing, or rip into pieces. Think of something funny!" Did she need to remind the girl that? Obviously this had been bugging her friend, and now the whole class knew what was going on.

Bummer.

Grayson had closed her eyes to avoid the glare of boggart-Lafay. She was seriously drawing a blank on what to do, the terror of messing her Potions career up was that strong. Not that she really thought the professor would find a way to bar her from pursuing the subject, as she continually reminded herself. She was good at Potions, even when things were exploding around her. It was a calming thing. But that glare was like lasers. She imagined at least she was lucky that boggart-Lafay had chosen to not yell, but it was still terrifying. It definitely reminded her that ther was a reason she'd never snuck her ferret into that class. Charms, Runes, Arithmancy . . . all of those were way safer, even if she didn't know how most of the professors might take a ferret in class. Lafay might eat her poor pet.

But bizarrely, thinking about her ferret managed to calm her down enough to really remember that it wasn't really Professor Lafay standing there. Just a boggart, and she knew how to deal with those. Time for those silly thoughts, and how to apply them to the figure standing in front of her. She just had to hope the real professor didn't hear about this. Opening her eyes again, she focused on the boggart as she pointed her wand straight at it. "Riddikulus!" The boggart was so going down.

Marie stood there dumbfounded just staring at that beast in front of her. How was she going to make it stop!? She couldn't think of anything funny with that letter yelling at her like that. And why did it have to be in Mina's voice, that just made it even worse.

Oh great and now someone was behind her. Oh, it was Evelyn. Think of something funny! Now why didn't she think of that one? "I tried but it didn't work," she hissed back to her friend. She knew she had to try again though or the thing would never stop. "RIDDIKULUS!" she shouted as she tried thinking of something funny.

Yeah that still didn't work. Hearing that letter mention her having Carter only made her think about how she didn't have him anymore, which lead to her picture in her mind when she seen Carter and Destiny kissing... which lead to him breaking up with her.

Oh that was so NOT funny.

Well if she couldn't change the form of the boggart then she would just grab it and tear it up. Just as she reached for it the thing pulled just out of her reach. In fact every time she reached for it she was unable to grab it. "What am I going to do now?" she asked looking back over at Evelyn? She could feel the tears starting to sting her eyes now. She needed to make this letter stop yelling at her but no funny thoughts were coming to her mind.

And so it began. Hugo grabbed his Chestnut wand out of the holdster that was in his pocket.
It felt really good in his hand, and he was confident. Only one person in front of him...
He had to do it now.

Looking at the boggart his feet started to tingle, Hugo was clearly nervous. He stepped up.
The boggart was quiet for a minute. Then, it turned around and started spinning around,
turning into a creepy dude with a black beard, slowly raising his wand, casting a curse.

The dude who looked kindof like a death-eater stepped forwards.
His wand was still raising, and his mouth opened slightly...

Cru...
Could a boggart cast an unforgivable curse? What if it didn't work? He'd be doomed.
His biggest fear was definetly people who don't show mercy under any circumstances.
He looked at the creepy dude's wand. It was a bit curly, but very frightening-looking.
Didn't he see this guy in a dream? Hugo's wand started to get slippery from sweat.

Think something funny... Think...

Gripping his wand tightly, he should do it any second now...

Say what now?

Her eyes widened in curiosity as she turned to look at the girl, Mia. Was she serious? There was an actual spell to do that? Oh well crud, she didn't know what it w- Professor Carlton KNEW IT!?

Taking a deep breath, she let it out through her nose to calm herself down and keep herself from spazzing and doing something crazy. Like hugging the girl. No, not gunna happen. "Thanks for the heads up." she said, actually having a reasonable and non-fake smile on her face.

"Evelyn." she replied, her smiled widening just a bit before her attention moved back to what was happening in front of them with the boggart. Mia was alright she supposed.

"Obviously you aren't trying hard enough." she said defensively. Now was not the time to be getting angry, but it was just a habit when someone raised their voice or spoke in a tone such as Marie's at her. Wringing her hands, Evelyn was actually starting to worry for the situation. Heck, she herself was having a hard time thinking of something funny, and this wasn't even her boggart!

Marie's expression as she turned back around to look at her made the Slytherin stop for just a moment.

Her? What was she supposed to do? This was her boggart. She could conquer it. Yet it seemed her friend was losing control of the situation...in front of every body. She just needed to laugh a little, and then she'd be able to do this right?

But what to say to make Marie laugh!? This was more of Destiny's area, not hers. Destiny always got people to laugh. Wait... Destiny? "Think of Destiny as a chicken!"

That certainly made HER laugh. "Eating a WORM!"

The moment has come for which Alex was waiting for so long. She just needed to face her worst fear. She was confused between her two worst fears on the list.
"What would I face?" Alex thought....
As she came in front she just glanced at professor.. Alex was not scared at the moment but was definitely nervous..
"I can do it!!" She muttered to herself..
As soon as she was at the forefront Professor release the boggart.
Things were abrupt nothing was concrete and suddenly boggart took the form she finally knows that she fears the most.............
A huge snake......A Basilisk!!!!!!!!!!
"I am not supposed to look into his eyes" thought Alex and just missed the Basilisk's glare by a second.
"Does a Boggat's glare can kill a person?" Alex though..
Its just a boggart do not get scared fight it!! Alex was muttering to herself..
She grasped her wand tightly..
She need to think now.. something funny!!!
What??? Don't I have any funny ideas!!
Oh Merlin!!!!!!!!
Come on Alex think.....
Alex pushed her mind heard to think...........

Amy stood up, well at least she'd know how to face a boggart once she left, she tensed her fists around the wand, um she sat back down, chickening out quickly, how did you make a snake funny....?

You didn't?

Alex was really very scared now..
She could not think of anything..
Concentrate Alex!!! She shouted at herself in her mind..
Do I ask for help?? was Alex's second thought..
What to do??
Everyone's eyes on her and she can not think of anything???
How stupid of her!!!

Hugo swallowed. It felt like hours now. How the others were just staring
at him and the boggart. Or the creepy dude. It was looking into his soul.

At the tip of his wand, a red light slowly started appearing. For Hugo it all felt
very slow-motionisque.

Hugo looked at his wand. He had to do it now, now, now or else he would be tortured to death by this boggart.
How the merlin should he make this funny?

He took a deap breat, closed his eyes. Funny thoughts...
And then, as the boggart tried to pronounce the final O,
Hugo yelled: "RIDIKKULUS!!"

She had to do that now or the Basilisk could attack anybody in the class..
Think Alex..
She just begin to think...
very hard this time..
Memorising something very hard holding her wand tightly Alex finally said..
"Riddikulus"!!!!!!!!!!

Not trying hard enough? Right! Because she liked the situation she was in right now. She liked having everyone hear what her deepest fear was. She liked having everyone hear what she had done, how she had betrayed her friend's trust. Yeah, that's just what she wanted.

What was Evelyn talking about, Destiny as a chicken... eating a worm?

Then it hit her, the joint CoMC and Transfiguration class they had last term. Destiny had been turned into a chicken who tried eating a worm. Thinking of that made her giggle and temporarily forget about the howler. But only for a short few seconds. It's kinda hard to forget something that keeps yelling at you over and over again. However now she felt she was ready to conquer that beast.

Turning back towards the ugly red monster she once again pointed her wand at it. "RIDDIKULUS!" she shouted as she pictured Destiny!Chicken pulling that worm out of the ground. And in no time the howler was gone and there stood a chicken with a worm.

YES! IT WORKED!

"I did it!" She said happily to Evelyn. "Thanks for the help, I couldn't have done it without you."

Of course the boggart was gone but now Marie had to worry about Mina finding out about it since everyone in the class heard that stupid howler. She looked around the class hoping maybe no one recognized the voice as Mina. If they didn't then her secret would still be safe.

RIGHT!?

The classroom spinned around him. He had just done it. He saw a bit of light blue smoke coming out of his wand. The creepy dude's wand... Stil red.

But the red was not from the cruciatus curse anymore.
The creepy dude looked confused at his wand which had turned into a RED VINE!!
He held the wobbly candy and waved it around for a bit,
and the red vine looked hilarious wobbling around.

The dude couldn't be more confused, and his hand...
Something was up with his hand. It started to melt into a brown liquid.
First his hand, and then his entire body started melting into a chocolate fondue.

His feet turned into a bowl and the rest of his melting chocolate body fell into the bowl,
and at last, the candy wand fell into the bowl.
It looked pretty delicious, red vine dipped in chocolate. Chocolate licorice, brilliant.

Hugo laughed. The world around him started to feel high-speed and warm again.
"Anyone care for some chocolate licorice?" he chuckled.

Cass noticed that Hugo had conquered the boggart successfully. She smiled up at him and said "Good job Hugo."

Amy stood up again, you can do it, you can do it, she murmered walking over to the cupboard, and....

Out it came

A huge, ginormus, ratteling cobra, bigger than five desks stacked on top of each other

Don't scream, don't scream! She thought panicked, how to change this into something funny, it hissed again, she paled, all thoughts gone

Hugo looked back. "Thanks," he smiled.
"Have you faced the boggart yet?"

Right, Boggarts. Viky closed her eyes, and stood in ffront of the Boggart with a nervous look on her face. She still wasn't sure what it would be - she had a few fears, not just merpeople. She took a deep breath, and opened one eye. Then she opened the other, and stood still as she watched her fears play out in front of her. It was... it was her. Granted, it was a couple of years later, but it was still recognisably herself. And she was completely alone? No, not completely. She was surrounded by ... what were they? People... people she knew. But not the people she knew. Ghosts. Her Granma. Her mother. Her father. Eliza. Simon. Josh. Hayley. This wasn't really a fear she'd thought of before. But she hated to be alone, and it looked like everyone had left her.

Oh, this was so strange. Shaking, she drew her wand and pointed it straight in front of her. What... what was the spell? She couldn't move, as she watched the scene in front of her play out. The not-her was sitting on the floor, and the strange ghosty people were watching, almost laughing. They'd left her. It was all the people she loved, and they'd left her. Wait.. spell. Spell. Spell. 'Ridiculous!' no, no that wasn't right. 'Ridiculussss!' that wasn't any better. That wasn't the right spell!

She shook her head "I can't muster up the courage yet." She truly was no Gryffindor "My fear is quite silly though..."

"Aww... Well it isn't that scary when you're up there," Hugo lied.
"Just do it, it'll be over in a heartbeat and then you can brag about how good it went," he smiled.
