There's nothing unusual about the way the Charms classroom has been set up. All the desks are neatly arranged in rows and, save for a few boxes filled with random supplies, nothing unusual decorates the room. Professor Carlton doesn't appear to be in the classroom, but a slightly ajar door in the back of the room gives the impression that she's likely in the supply closet, looking around for some random something-or-another to use in class.
A sign on the board reads:
Quote:
Welcome to Charms class! Please come in and take a seat. As my announcement indicated, you are more than welcome to have come to class wearing cowboy or cowgirl attire. If you don't own these items, they'll be provided for you. The lesson will begin momentarily.
OOC: The lesson will begin in about two hours (5:45 PM EST). You may roleplay your character coming in and joining class, but please try and limit the conversation.

The bag back where it belonged, Kellen gave Fletcher a brief, not-particularly-sincere smile and turned back to his desk. More as a precaution than anything else, he cast a non-verbal shield charm on himself as he went.
"Yeah..... lucky you match black and blue real well too, doncha?" Fletcher muttered, started to crack his knuckles. Good thing Kellen decided to walk away then because the sight of that kid was enough to get on Fletcher's nerves.
Plus the jelly beans happened to all fall down when Fletcher started to crack his knuckles.

He would get the kid back. Oh yes he would.

Tiffany hid a smile as she moved out of the way of the mischieve makers. She went back to her objects - a round ball of some sort, a book and a feathered quill. She began to Levitate the quill with a swish and flick of her wand and murmered, "Wingardium Leviosa." As it began to fly up she whispered, "Fixate." Then, "Locomortor feather Quill." She said quietly, pleased as it began to move around. She looked back to the other objects and smiled slightly, which one next?

So, there sat a fluffy stuffed animal turkey and...a boring brown colored plant pot. Awesome.
Sighing, she flicked her wand towards the pot, letting the color change to a poka dot light green and black. Well, at least it was a bit better now. Hehe. Hopefully the professor wouldn't want it back the way it came. "Wingardium Leviosa." she muttered, with a swish and flick of her wand, letting the pot hover just above her head before tapping it and saying, "Fixate."
Where to move it though? "Locomotor plant pot."
....to the PROFESSOR'S DESK it went! However, on the way there, she flicked her wand towards the pot once more, letting the colors turn to a light and dark pink; pretty much finding that doing her own color changing charm was way easier than using the one the Professor taught them. It only used a large amount of concentration and flick of the wand. And...a little twirl thing at the end now that she watched it. Huh. Who knew!?
Now that the pot was out of the way and she didn't have to stare at it anymore, it was now the turkey animal thing! Which, strangely reminded her of the epic fails in Transfiguration with the chickens.
....eh.
Pfffft.
That mug was going to sit on top of Evelyn's desk until she filled it with something to drink. Destiny was really thirsty! Directing her wand downwards, she placed the mug on the desk, and with a few jabbing motions, the mug was sitting RIGHT in front of Evelyn. Yep, she'd have to move the mug to get to that very ugly stuffed turkey.
Then, Destiny would have water!
She kept an eye on Evelyn for a second longer before turning around and pulling the elephant statue closer to herself. What WAS that thing? It was an ELEPHANT and..was it wearing clothes!? Elephants don't wear clothes!
After giving the statue a few little pokes in the belly, because it was right there and all, she pointed her wand towards it and gave a swish and flick, "Wingardium Leviosa." It might have just been her imagination, but it didn't seem like it was levitating as quickly as the other objects she had. Hmm.. "Fixate." she said, and with a tap on the elephant's belly, the statue was fixed at eye level.
And now she needed somewhere to move it to.
Evelyn, of course.
"Locomotor elephant statue."
And off the elephant went. It's belly getting a little too close to Evelyn's face.

Hearing a sort of mini-debate going on, Lexi dropped her wand back to her side, causing the chalk to drop back into place with a dull thud. She watched, sort of like she was at a ping-pong match, as the students discussed the usage of the Hover Charm on a human being. She'd speak up and throw in her two knuts, but the students were debating so nicely that she really hated to interrupt. Besides, it wasn't often this sort of thing happened with someone getting mad and charming a person a rat tail or something equally as disgusting.
"Thank you, girls, for politely debating that. I'm tickled pink..." (as if she wasn't pink enough already) "...to see that my students can discuss things like mature people and not...well, utilize charms in bad ways toward one another," she said, sort of mumbling that last part. She didn't want to give anyone any extra ideas.
"You can levitate a human being, but you just have to be careful...just as you would if you were using any movement spell, such as...Mobilicorpus," she added. "Especially if that person has been injured. You wouldn't won't to hurt them any more than they've already been hurt."
"A lot of you were suggesting movement, which wasn't exactly simple hovering or levitation, but it is related to a part of the lesson. The Mobili- spells, such as Mobilicorpus or Mobiliarbus, move objects. Of course -corpus would deal with moving a body, and -arbus would deal with moving a tree," she said. As she talked, a few boxes began levitating off the ground and making their way toward the students and around the room.
"Same with the Locomotor spells, like the Locomotor spoon spell we covered last school year. As the boxes make their way around the room, grab a few items---some light, some medium, and some heavy. We're going to work on levitation and movement," she said.
"Most of you have already mentioned the incantation and wand movement for the Hover Charm," she said. She paused and pulled a jewelry box out of a nearby box. She laid it on the desk, pointed her wand toward it, and with a swish and flick said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" The box made its way up, up, and...it froze. "Fixate!" she said. "Now those of you from last year will remember the way we got the spoon to move last year..."
She pointed her wand toward the jewelry box and said, "Locomotor jewelry box!" With her wand, she guided the box exactly where she wanted it to go. It slightly grazed Duncan Fletcher's head, zoomed by Carr Jones' head, and finally came to a stop on Lori Bristol's desk. "This is the spell I want for you to practice on several different objects--remember, one light, one medium, and one heavy. You'll need to have this movement down pat for the activity at the end of class."
Freya just nodded when Professor Carlton explained to the class how to use the levitate spell and Mobilicorpus spell when transporting an injured person. She then listened very carefully when Professor Carlton gave them the instruction what will they do with the spell.

She circulated the room, watching as the students worked with a few of the objects she's put in the boxes.
She turned toward the chalkboard and made note of the steps:
1. Levitate using a swish and flick of the wand plus Wingardium Leviosa.
2. Fix your object in place by pointing your wand at it and saying Fixate.
3. Move your object around the room by saying Locomotor ___ (insert object in blanks) and guiding it with your wand.
She looked at the item carefully before pulled out her wand and the she made a swish and flick movement with her wand before saying "Wingardium Leviosa" the item flied "Fixite" she muttered and the items froze in place. "Locomotor Quill" she said and guiding the Quill to fly towards her.

Now for the medium one. Lets see if that is as eady as the light one.
Fee aimed her wand at the heavy charmes book. "Wingardium Liviosa", she said making the swish and flick movement.
Ohhh it was in the air. yaaaay. "Fixate"
This was really easy. Wohoo. "Locomotor charms book".
Fee let the book fly a spiral.
Haughtine sat for a while watching as the other students made various attempts (some successful) at floating objects. She looked over towards the boxes, wand in hand and prepared to try and levitate an item from inside of it.
"Wingardium Leviosa, Wingardium Leviosa, Wingardium Leviosa." She whispered to herself at first, to try and make sure her pronunciation was straight, especially since she'd heard the Professor say that objects could explode if you mispronounce this charm. She watched carefully the other students to study their swish and flick movement, then finally, when she'd built up the pluck she aimed and fired at a wrist watch. "Wingardium Leviosa!"
But, nothing happened except for the toppling of her lavender cowgirl hat. She was doing it wrong, she knew, even if she wasn't sure how. That, and the fact that she was using her older sisters one-time temporary replacement wand.
"Fixate." and the mirror was floating on top of her head. "Wingardium Leviosa." Out came a light stuffed teddy bear from the box "Fixate". She wanted to try two objects now. "Locomotor mirror and stuffed teddy bear!" and zoomed the twp objects into the air. Wonder if she could make the bear ride on the mirror like a broom?

With her stuffed bunny still standing on the professor's shoulders, she began to search for something to use as her medium sized object. She scratched her head trying to figure out what would be something fun to move around when her hands touched the pale violet cowboy hat on her head. Oooh...that could be fun! She put it down on the table in front of her. "Wingardium Liviosa", she said with a fluid swish and flick. When the hat had reached eye level, she whispered "Fixate" to stop its movement. Her eyes dashed around the classroom to see who a good target would be. Aha! There was Heather attempting to levitate something immediately across from her and she had no hat on. With a smile on her face, Kurumi whispered "Locomotor cowboy hat," and set the sparkly violet thing on Heather's head. "Looking good, Heather!" she giggled.

While strolling around the classroom, Lexi watched--tickled pink--as the Flores girl changed the color of a boring old pot to a pretty pink color. "Excellent job, Miss Flores. Just excellent," she commented. She grew quiet and her eyebrows wrinkled in a mixture of confusion and astonishment as an elephant statue, large belly and all, grazed just past Evelyn. Where had that thing come from? She had been fairly sure there were no elephants in the boxes, but...hey, it's not like she remembered every last odd assortment she'd thrown into that supply closet.
Her focus on the elephant was broken when she noticed a piece of chocolate making its way toward her desk. Mmm...chocolate.

"Well, it's just I didn't get a third object from the box," she explained, keeping her green eyes wide and innocent. At least as innocent as possible given the amount of random objects zooming around the room that she didn't want hitting her in the head. "I was wondering if I could use my ferret. She'd climbed trees with him in her pocket, for Merlin's sake. At least she'd have more control now of where he could go. But she wanted to make sure she wasn't about to risk trouble.

"Well, let's think about this for just a moment, shall we? A ferret zooming around the room...such a small creature and such a big room...would likely equal ohh, say...a human being zooming around on a roller coaster," she said. As she talked, her eyes traveled to the girl's bag--there was a ferret in there? *blink* "I'd venture a pretty good guess that your ferret just might get a bit sick...all over us...if you levitated him and gave him a ride about the classroom. Hmm... "May I see this ferret, please?" she asked, holding her hand out. "You'll get him back, I promise."

Bullseye! Quickly he took aim at the fallen black hat "Wingardium Leviosa!" It floated high in the air as Salander commanded "Locomotor hat " pulling it towards himself. He flicked his wrist one more time as the hat fell onto his head, then gave it a good tap, securing it. He glanced at the HufflePuff Champion Chieftain and grinned. Well at least that headdress is in his house colors. Not to mention it goes well with his PINK shoes

Arithmancy...mazes...all things Lexi was really interested in and wanting to reply to, but...three mischievous little boys were currently playing a game of 'hit one another upside the head with objects'---in her classroom. In her classroom!
"Misters Salander, Fletcher, and Stern! That'll be enough of this nonsense right now!" she said. "I'm not sure who--or how--or why--this whole thing started, but you'll end it right now." She glanced toward Fletcher and added, "Or else you'll find yourself serving a detention which will likely be held right in the middle of important school events."
With a not-so-amused look on her face, she waved her wand, tapped it in mid-air, and caused a slight thump on the back of Fletcher's head...despite the fact that she was all the way across the room. She paused then added, "...and those are such pretty pink cowboy boots, Mr. Fletcher," she said, making a point of pointing out the color to all in the room who could hear her. "It's much easier if you pull the item from the box with your hands first," she said. She reached in and plucked out an...object...which resembled either a three-headed pig or a badly-sculpted tree. One could just never tell. Lexi turned and pointed out the directions on the board.
1. Levitate using a swish and flick of the wand plus Wingardium Leviosa.
2. Fix your object in place by pointing your wand at it and saying Fixate.
3. Move your object around the room by saying Locomotor ___ (insert object in blanks) and guiding it with your wand.

Heavy item....heavy item....what was there that could be something good? Her eyes immediately went to Adam's chair...was that even allowed? Despite the temptation, she decided to try using her own chair instead of a potential trip to the hospital wing for Adam. Better to test things on yourself than others, right? She only made herself hover a few inches off the ground and moved herself back and forth a few times before setting herself and her chair back on the ground. She looked back at Adam....it was oooooooooooh so tempting...

Hehe, Marie's feather was going to tickle Patroclus on the ear and he didn't even know it since it was coning from behind him.
Not waiting to see his reaction she turned back to her desk and the remaining items. With a swish and a flick of her wand she said, "Wingardium Leviosa" and watched the book float up off the desk. She then pointed her wand at the book. "Fixate." and the stayed stayed there hovering over her desk. Now where to have the book go.
Aha, she knew the perfect person to send this book to. Someone who would appreciate a book on Useless Animal Factsand would probably read it too. "Locomotor Book" she said as she sent the book flying towards Destiny.
Oops, looks like it might land on her head if she doesn't move.

Professor Carlton did not seem happy or amused with some of the people in the class. Alice had managed to float the clock (without slamming it into the ceiling this time) and was getting ready to move on to the spoon when she heard Professor Carlton scolding Salander, Fletcher, and some other boy she had never seen before. Alice was planning on minding her own business when Professor Carlton complimented Fletcher on his pink boots. Pink boots?
Alice stealthily looked over at Fletcher's feet and oh my those were some pink boots! And they weren't just pink, they were hard to miss standing a mile away pink! Not to mention all the sparkle...Alice imagined Edward's feet probably sparkled in the sun the way Fletcher's shoes were sparkling right now.
Surely he hadn't come in with shoes that color and so...girly? Alice shifted her attention to Professor Carlton who had a pretty satisfactory look on her face. Alice laughed quietly. A teacher with a sense of humor...she liked that.
Alice focused her attention back on the spoon. "Wingardium Leviosa," Alice said while swish-and-flicking her wand. The spoon came out quicker than she had been anticipating, flying up and smacking into a light fixture on the ceiling. What was the deal? She was hardly moving her wand at all? Alice raised her hand.
"Professor Carlton? Do you think you might be able to show me how to stop the lighter objects from flying out so quickly? I feel like I am hardly moving my wand in the motion at all, but as you can tell," Alice said, as the spoon fell from the ceiling and plonked her on the head,"it's not working very well." Alice grabbed the spoon off the floor and rubbed her head gently.

He would get the kid back. Oh yes he would.
Honestly, could he not even walk back to his seat without Fletcher continuing to be a complete jerk? He'd taken the purse to the back of the head, he'd returned it by hand, and now he was getting accused of... what, exactly?
Kellen turned to look back at Fletcher, having no idea what he was talking about. Had the thick-headed Puff discovered a pink bean in the set he was busy scarfing? He looked over Fletcher with a clearly confused expression on his face, noting the headdress he now sported -- which wasn't pink, by the way -- but from where he was standing he really couldn't see anything pink.
And then...

"The color looks sparkling on you, I must say. Where did you find such a pretty pink pair?"
Detention?! Ohoooo, no no no, Kellen Stern was not going to be dragged into detention by bone-head and company. In his mind, this 'whole thing' had ended when he'd returned the purse in a peaceful way. Why Fletcher continued to torment, pick on, and otherwise make Kellen's life more difficult, he still didn't really know. Surely the boy wasn't still being Neptune's muscle for that greenhouse thing?
Oh. Oh Fletcher's shoes were pink. Well Kellen certainly didn't... didn't do...
...
...someone had charmed his school shoes pink. Sigh. Tempting though it was to undo the charm, his brain told him that it was probably Professor Carlton who put it there in the first place and she'd just put it right back. Speaking of back, he made it back to his seat and sat down.

Had he levitated his picture frame yet? He couldn't remember, but his market was still fixated where he'd left it. Calling the market back down, he turned his attention to the frame, "Wingardium Leviosa."
...how tempting was it to bring this thing down on Fletcher's big, fat head? Hypothetically, very. But in reality he'd probably regret it the moment it connected. Or rather, the moment after, when the professor would probably charm his entire clothes and hair bright pink and saddle him with detention forever.
"Fixate." It was held in position a good distance above everyone's heads, and then he cast the third part of the spell, "Locomotor picture frame."
It did a few turns and rotations above his head, and then he eased it back down onto his desk.
Evan eyed the objects he'd chosen, a key chain, a basketball and a very heavy Charms book. He decided to start with the key chain as a first step. He knew all of the spells, but just to be safe. With a swish and flick, he said "Wingardium Leviosa!" and the key chain started to float in the air. Fixing it in the place, he looked around to see where Marie was seating. Despite all her moodiness and attitude towards him, he didn't like not talking to her, and was going to send this to her. He knew very well that this was professor's, but maybe it could warm up Marie's heart enough to get her realise Evan was nice.
"Locomotor key chain!" he said and guided it towards her desk. It was a cute little teddy-bear with a Great Britain t-shirt on it. Sure, any girl would like it. Sticking out his neck a little, he waited for her reaction while he got the basketball in hand to practise the spells.

Alice grabbed the spoon off the floor and rubbed her head gently.
"Well, I can, but I'm afraid it won't produce immediate results. You see, it's a matter of practicing wand control, which is something that comes easy to some and difficult to others," she explained. She grabbed a hold of a nearby object--a little brown button that had long ago fallen off some shirt--and levitated it into the air. She fixed it right where she wanted it then, with a "Locomotor button!", sent it flying around the room.
It first flew quickly...then slowly...then quickly again. Before it arrived back at the desk she was standing next to, Lexi slowed it down to an "air-crawl" then let it fall to the desk. "Just keep working on your ability to use your magic to increase or decrease the speed. It might take a while, so don't give up if it doesn't happen immediately."

Marie was just about to try and move the heavy dragon statue when a key chain dropped on her desk. A very cute key chain even. Now who would have sent that to her?
Looking around at everyone the only person she seen even looking her way was... Evan. Really, he was the one that sent the key chain to her. She should have known it was him. He did have a history of giving her key chains. She still had all the other ones he had ever given her.
Did this mean he wasn't tired of her anymore?
Looking at the key chain then back at Evan all she could do was smile at him. She was afraid if she opened her mouth she would say something that would probably make him mad at her again. For now it was best to just keep her mouth closed.
Picking up the key chain she looked at it wondering if the professor was going to let them keep the items or if they would have to return them to the box. If they got to keep them she would put the little bear with the other key chains Evan had given her.
Yeah, she had totally forgotten about moving that dragon statue right now.

Alice nodded and watched carefully as Professor Carlton sped up and slowed down the pace of the button as it zoomed around the room. "Thanks Professor Carlton," Alice said with a smile. So she would just have to learn to tone down the strength of her magic was all. Alice fixed her attention back to the spoon, exhaling slightly before saying, "Wingardium Leviosa." Alice tried to concentrate on only sending a little bit of force. The spoon still shot up but she was able to stop it with with "Fixate" just before the spoon hit the light fixture again. Well...that was progress, wasn't it?

Yeah, she had totally forgotten about moving that dragon statue right now.
Evan waited a bit nervously as Marie got the small teddy-bear. He couldn't predict her these days, so he wasn't sure what kind of a reaction he should expect, other than a nice one an ordinary girl should give. As she acknowledged that it was from him, he relieved a little. Then, when she smiled, his face broke into a smile too. This meant they were good again, right? He wanted to believe that. Giving her another smile, he returned to his objects. Now was the medium-object, a basketball. Grabbing, he examined it for a while. It was a nice one. Looking at the professor with a puzzled face, he wondered what she did with a basketball? She didn't look to be a fan of the sport, but the ball was in a good condition that suggested it wasn't for decoration. Maybe she just conjured it for the class? Must be. He had to learn the spell of that some time, 'cause he wanted a basketball as well but his parents refused to buy him one. Siiigh... they would never understand the importance of doing sports.
With a swish and flick of his wand, he said "Wingardium Leviosa!" again to float the object in the air. Then, pointing his wand at it, he said "Fixate!" When it froze in the mid-air, he smiled and performed the last spell--"Locomotor basketball." Bouncing it a few times on his desk harmlessly, he made the ball tour the class, turn around Marie's head, and come back to him, while trying different speeds at different areas. He seemed to got hold of the spells. Just the heavy object left, and he'd perfect these spells.

"Now then. Work on those step by step, and I'll stand nearby if you have any trouble," she said.
"Quickly finish levitating your light, medium, and heavy objects," she said, addressing the class as a whole. "We'll be moving on soon!"
Erpf!
Liz went to the box and took out a flower petal, a jar of large and brightly coloed thumbtacks, and a vase decorated with smilies. After practicing the motions and incantations with her lucky Muggle pencil, she picked up her wand, pushed her hair behind her ears, and started with the petal.
Liz was on her 21st try of trying to levitate her petal and was getting frustrated. She took a deep breath and calmed down, knowing that anger was not going to help levitate a petal at all, and pointed at it again.
With a swish, flick, and "Wingardium Leviosa," the petal was floating. It excited Liz so much that she accidentally lost her focus and the spell was broken. She levitated it again and with much more confidence and a clear voice demanded, "Fixate." And it worked! Bubbling with excitement, she said,"Locomotor Petal!" And the petal... fell. Liz repeated the steps again four more times before Locomotor worked. And when it did, it only worked for a second before she started getting to excited with what her next letter to her parents would be. Eventually, she could guide the petal around her with ease, so she moved on to the other objects.

EEEEPPP! STILL ONE MORE TO GO!
Sammy hurried back to the box, looking for something heavy. heavy heavy heavy AHAH! she thought looking through and finding, a medicine ball. God this would be a bit hard. "Wingardiam Leviosa" she tried, but the medicine ball didn't move "Wingardiam Leviosa" she said again, a little more strongly and it worked ... YAY!"Fixate" that worked as well. "Locomotor medicine ball" she said, the grinning madly as it worked.

Simon gingerly moved the watch back to its rest place on the desk's surface as Professor Carlton reminded them that they had to do all three items before she moved on with class. Taking a couple of breathes rest, he gave his wand a last and final swish and flick movement. "Winguardium Leviosa!" he said focusing on his heavy item, eventually getting the large book to levitate a foot off the desk.
"Fixate," he added quicky to assure it didn't drop before he wanted it to. Stepping away from his desk, he moved a few feet before adding the final incantation. "Locomotor book," he cast summoning the tome towards him, smiling as he was able to take hold of the book. All done!

It seemed as if most, if not all, of the students had the hang of the spell now, so Lexi returned to her desk and hoisted herself up onto the side of it before getting the students attention. "Alright, class, it's time to move on! Guide your items back to you, grab them, then toss them into one of the boxes in the back of the room, please!" she said, just loud enough to be heard over the chatter in the room.
"Then return to your seats, so we can move on to the last half of the lesson," she added. As she talked, she levitated a different box toward her and guided it to come to a rest just at her feet. The top was still securely on it, though, so no one could drop anything down into it or see what was inside.

Sammy guided the dragonfly broach, book and medicine ball back to her. Grabbing the dragonfly broach first then the other two, struggling a bit with the medicine ball. As she headed back to the boxes, she put the book on her desk, because it was hers. And placed the dragonfly broach and medicine ball back in one of the boxes, then heading back to her desk and sitting down. She tried to stay still but it was hard, because she was excited.. what was in the box at Professor Carlton's feet?

The book already in his hand, Simon took hold of the watch and pen in his arms and walked towards the back of the room where they were guided to deposit their various items. He gently tossed his trio of things inside before weaving around his classmates and the still flying items, making his way back to his seat and sitting down to await the next part of class. Seeing Professor Carlton with a new box, he couldn't help be at least a little curious.
