On a wall in the Hufflepuff Common Room, a large and very well used notice board is affixed. It is adorned in the usual yellow and black decorations, as well covered in notices containing announcements or advertisements. Be sure to check them out before going to breakfast or going to sleep!

Charms Lesson 1 Homework
Due: Tuesday, September 28 by 9 PM EST

In class, we learned and practiced the following combination of spells:
1. Levitate using a swish and flick of the wand plus Wingardium Leviosa.
2. Fix your object in place by pointing your wand at it and saying Fixate.
3. Move your object around the room by saying Locomotor ___ (insert object in blanks) and guiding it with your wand.

- Create a fictional story entitled "The Day Wingardium Leviosa Saved My Life." In the story, tell what happened, how you used the charm, and how you were saved. Your story should be at least two paragraphs long, and each paragraph should have at least five sentences in it.

• Care of Magical Creatures Lesson #1 Homework •

☛ Due: October 6th @ Midnight EST

☛ Assignment: Draw a picture of a Dugbog and a picture of a Walking stick, side by side. Point out the characteristics, and anything else you can think of, of the Dugbog and write what they are.

Write a paragraph on other creatures in the Wizarding world that look similar to creatures in the Muggle world. Also, let me know what you learned in class.

OOC: Draw in an image program/by hand and then scan/take picture of drawing. The 'learned in class' part doesn't need to be serious. Let Maya know you learned that a Dugbog bite hurts, or that playing with live sticks can be dangerous. Whatever ; )

#1: Rag Mops in Action
Draw a picture (in paint or another program; draw on paper and scan it/take a picture) showing what flying on a rag mop looked like. Finding a photo or pre-made graphic of someone on a mop doesn't count!

#2: We Should Fly on a What?!
Write a 1 paragraph essay (at least 8 sentences) explaining why wizarding kind should be allowed to fly on something else besides a broom. Possible items include a wheelbarrow, a rake, a hoe, a bathtub, an armchair, a Swiffer, a couch, a dumpster, or a trash can/rubbish bin. Be convincing in your essay as to why the item you selected would be an ideal mode of magical transportation.

Divination Homework 2

Create your own Tarot Cards!

Create your own version of any FOUR Major Arcana cards. For example, if you wanted to create your own version of The Emperor card, you might put a picture of someone you think is a great leader (like your Divination professor, perhaps?) or a symbol you think stands for leadership, like a crown or a staff. Rename the card appropriately (The Emperor would now become The Crown card) and then explain briefly what number the card would be, and what it would stand for in your OWN opinion.

The graphic doesn't need to be amazing, you can do it on Paint, draw it by hand and take a photo, whatever floats your boat!

This assignment is worth 15 points. To receive full credit, each card MUST have an accompaning picture, you must include the number of each card, and give 3-5 meanings the card could symbolize.

1. What has to happen for the current Batter to be allowed to walk to the First Base without actually hitting the ball (include a simple definition for the term 'Ball')? [2 Points]

2. Explain in your own words what the term 'Fly Out' refers to in Baseball. [1 Point]

3. What are the three position-subgroups? Put the following positions into the correct subgroup: Catcher, Shortstop, Pitcher, Third Base, Right Field, First Base. [2 Points]

4. Make a rough sketch of a Baseball Field (like the one during class), including labels for the players and In Field and Out Field. [5 Points]

Extra: What would be more appropriately used to crack walnuts in the Muggle World than a Beater's/Baseball Bat?
