Sophia walked down the maze and saw a 7. She walked up to it and a math problem popped out.

She knew the answer to this one. "Pretty easy!" she said, grinning. She wrote her answer down on the paper. "You guys know the answer?" she asked. "We have to say it all together." she said.

Looking up at the direction Sophia pointed, Evan was about to nod when he felt a strong pull in that direction nevertheless. Yeah, this should be the last stop or the second before the end. He could feel it. He watched the first year perform the equation as he did it too. Cocking his head slightly, he frowned. "I believe that's 21," he said softly.

"You guys know the answer?" Sophia asked again. "We need to say it together to get out of the maze." she said.

Whaaaaaaaaaa?

"What's MY problem? What's YOURS?" Ty all but yelled at her as she went BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM. As the number continued to advance menacingly, the thirteen year old panicked. Weird Girl or Scary Number?!

HE WAS NOT GOING TO RUN AWAY WITH HER. She was insane, and might just end up killing him or something! O_O As she crawled away, Ty took out his wand. FACE the number. Do something, Ty. WWUJD?! What Would Uncle James Do?

Jinx crazy girl for abandoning him with the two. "NO, WAIT, er.... STOP!!!" Ty yelled as the number was almost upon him and MAGICALLY, it stopped. Breathing heavily, he eyed the HUGE thing that was a mere inch from his nose and blinked in surprise. There was WRITING on this thing.

Glancing to see if Weird Girl was still to be seen, he shrugged and began reading. Apparently it was some sort of question thing. Grid karmic numbers. . . What did two mean? Two, two. . . OH YEAH. "Erm, you show how cooperative people are... How tactful, how er, intuitive they are," he said and to his sheer delight, the massive scary thing jumped out of the way and let him pass.

HA! So much for running away.

"I agree." Sophia said. "Twenty-one!" she said, with Evan, hoping it would lead them out of the maze. After she said that, the 7 vanished and the exit to the maze showed up. She ran out of the maze and sat down on the floor, very grateful to be out of there.

Marie looked at the math problem.

(12*2 + 4) - (21/3)=?

12*2=24 + 4 = 28

21/3 = 7

28 - 7 = 21

"The answer is 21." she said.

She looked around waiting to see what would happen. Did she have the answer right, would they be getting out of there soon? Well obviously that was the correct answer as the 7 disappeared and Sophia made it out of the maze. Just as she was about to follow though a HUGE 9 dropped from the sky blocking the way for Marie and Evan to get out.

"Crap. What are we supposed to do now?" Marie didn't remember hearing the professor say anything about a nine. Thinking about what the numbers meant she remembered something about perfection and endings for nine. "That's it, we need a perfect ending to get out of here."

Right.

Now what would that be?

Jenny put her hands on her knees, panting and panting as she looked at the obstacle in front of her. That moment when she almost tripped into the stream felt like she could have died! Could both of them be able to do this in time? It seemed like they were getting so close to the end too!

They have been in this maze for such a long time that Jenny forgot what the classroom looked like and even what peppermint chocolate tasted like anymore. She turned to Kurumi to see how she was doing. Probably tired like her too.

Evan was pretty angry that Sophia got out, but they were blocked by a nine. Sure, the girl did need to get out, but still... Sighing, he repeated what the professor said about nine. "The combination of a two plus a seven will equal nine, which in other words, completion. Wholeness." he said, trying to figure out a way out. "Two and seven together signify complete and total universal oneness." he added. Ugh. They needed something complete, and it must be a combination. Racking his brains, he found a line that could be ryhmed with. Grabbing Marie's hand, he said "We made it past 7, we made it past 2..." He cocked his head, trying to get the rest while looking at her for help. Mweh, he wanted to get out. NOW!

Josephina really didn't want to leave the boy because he was injured and all that . . . yet they were his housemates, so she doubted they would do anything to harm the boy? Then she looked up to see another girl . . . a first year who had breezed through the maze, offer help too. Three was excessive, even if the class was nearly over.

"JD and Ellie can take the boy down," Fina finally conceded. "Be careful. And thank you for the offer, Pam. It is appreciated, but I do believe your housemates can handle it. Feel free to visit after the lesson is over... Perhaps bring some of the surprise." She winked at the girl, as she watched others reaching the exit.


Arm? Bleeding? Oh Merlin, they were just NUMBERS !! Not bloody creatures!!! Seriously, if these kids were getting injured from numbers, she didn't want to think about the accidents happening in Magical Creatures lessons. That was when she looked closely at the 'blood' dripping.

"Oh silly girl. Your arm is fine. It's just strawberry syrup. It'll go great with the surprise treat," she nodded at the girl, watching as more reached the exit. Some did not though, which was okay too.


Just as easily as she used magic to make the maze appear, Josephina flicked her wand and transitioned the maze back into the normal Arithmancy classroom. "Well that was a fun journey! I can tell some of you know about your twos and sevens, while others need to reread the textbook. Before I assign the homework, as promised ... I have a little treat for you all."

Dramatic pause.

"Ice cream!!" Fina exclaimed, bringing out two HUGE tubs of ice cream. "Take a bowl and help yourself to some ice cream and toppings. I shall assign the homework in a few moments while you all recover."

Patroclus was a little confused, he had thougth that if any number in the maze was going to get him out of here, it should have been 9....get it completion, Duh!

But it seemed that was not the case, as the boy was still lost in the maze. And he was getting hungry. He had remembered the chocolate given to them by the professor, but it had been crushed by the mummifing bandagers, so he had to go hungry.

Turning a corner, Patroclus had the slightest incling, that on the other side of his wall was the exit. The feeling had come out of nowhere, but he thought it a good enough hunch. Pointing his wand at the wall, the boy cried, "Bombarda!" it was bound to work, it was his favourite spell and he was great at it.

As the light erupted from the wand tip, and flew at the wall, Patroclus braced himself for masses of flying debris, but it was not debris that went flying. As the spell connected with the wall, a bone cursh Boom echoed though out the maze, and its reuslting shock way sent Patroclus flying into the other wall.


His eyes dazed, his back throbing and his ego well and truly bruised, the boy laid there, not wanting to get up. He knew that blowing the wall down, was to easy, but it had not stopped him. 'Worth a try! he had decided'

Looking up at the perfectly unblemished wall, Patroclus heart sank, he was still trapped. The boy had not come across another student the whole time, and instantly his mind flooded with images of everyone sitting outside waiting from him, laughing at his dismal progress.


Then a Miracle happened, before his eyes the Maze began to waver, then disappear, and it's place stood the Professor, and she had Ice Cream!

Boo YeaH!

Marie stared at the nine as she listened to Evan. Why wasn't that thing moving out of their way? Gah! She wanted out of there now. She was tired of all this number stuff.

Holding onto Evan's hand when he grabbed hers she tried thinking of a way to finish his rhyme. "We made it past 7, we made it past 2..." she repeated. What could complete that rhyme? Move over 9 we'll make it past you.

That's it.

"We made it past 7, we made it past 2.
Move over 9 we'll make it past you."

Still holding Evan's hand she watched as the 9 moved out of their way. "WE DID IT!" she shouted as she pulled Evan out of the maze with her. They had finally gotten to the end of the maze.

Now, where were Evelyn and Destiny?

Willow blushed. Really? Strawberry syrup? Wow. But she was right, ice cream did need strawberry syrup. She walked over to the professor and got a bowl of ice cream. Yummy. Chocolate, caramel, and strawberry syrup. Sprinkles, m&m's, butterfingers. All on Willow's ice cream. She took it back to her seat and ate it up. *gasp* Willow forgot to say thank you! "Thank you for the ice cream, Professor Hadley!"

Daisy looked around as all the walls around her dissolved. She laughed as she noticed she was just on the opposite side of the place she needed to be. "Go figure." She then brightened up. Chocolate AND Ice cream all in one class!? She jumped up and down with joy and grabbed a bowl. She went into her bag and pulled out the stuff to test her blood sugar levels with. She nodded when she saw she was a little low which meant she could have the ice cream and not feel too guilty about it. She put the stuff back in the bag and then dug into the bowl of ice cream topped with choclate and carmel toppings with a chocolate frog on the side. "Thank you so much Professor. I love ice cream!"

Vashti was super excited she and Trixie had managed to get out of the maze and was even more excited when the classroom returned to its normal state. So...surprise?

ICE CREAM?!

It was official. Professor Hadley was DEFINITELY one of Vashti's favorite teachers. She was giving her ICE CREAM. What MORE could this little Ravenclaw ask for?

With a wide grin, she skipped over to a HUGE tub, scooped herself out some chocolate ice cream into a bowl, then dumped a bit of all the available toppings onto it. YUMMMMM.

"Thank you, Professor!"

Kurumi and Jenny, both exhausted by this point found themselves on a path being blocked by a 7 that looked like it had been in the sun for far too long and as turning into a wilted and melting number. With it's faceless front, it stumbled over to the girls and starting whispering, "water...water...water...". Kurumi looked at Jenny and took out her wand. "Aguamenti!" she said as a fountain of water becan pouring out of her wand and onto the wilted number. It began to grow and sprout number 2 flowers. Soon, it became so tall that the girls could use it as a bridge to get to the next section of the maze. Kurumi's eyes grew big. "Jenny! I think I see the exit!" she shouted pointing straight ahead.

Nodding, JD gives the professor a small smile. Looking around he wonders if there was an easier and safer way to get him to the hospital wing. Thinking to his conjuring lessons...wasn't there a spell that conjured things like stretchers.

Looking up at the professor, he could only think of one and that was ferula for a bandage. "Professor, I don't think it would be safe to transport Jacob in the air. Is there a way to conjure a stretcher?"

These students were so sweet what with saying thank you and all that! Nodding at them each, she just hoped they weren't going to give the next professor a headache from the sugar rush. But a little bit of sugar wouldn't hurt and might give them just the amount of 'pick-me-up' they needed.

"Very well then, you all are dismissed when you've finished with your ice cream. Don't forget to copy the homework down." Fina said as she flicked her wand and the homework appeared on the board. "If you need inspiration or just a quiet place to think, or even if you want to research more in-depth Arithmancy numbers, then I encourage you all to drop by the White Jasmine Chamber in this corridor."

Jenny was already tired sorting out the numbers at the little stream (how did she make it, she had no idea). She was quite disappointed to see another obstacle again, but Kurumi just did her usual tricks and boom...another bridge appeared. Wow, she could see the end already too! And look, the professor's giving out ice cream!

"Come on, Kurumi!" Jenny said as she carefully walked on the bridge along with Kurumi. When the two finally got to the other side (and end of the maze for that matter), Jenny quickly got a bowl and picked up a huge scoop of chocolate ice cream and put some sprinkles and chocolate chips on top. "Thank you, Professor!" Jenny said. Yes, Arithmancy was one of the classes she can get used to by now.

Glad to be out of the maze, Kurumi put her right arm on Jenny's shoulder and gave her a thumbs up. Not bad for two first years.

Wait...did she just hear the magic word ice cream?! If there was something more than cookies she liked, ice cream was it. She practically ran over to the table and took several large scoups of vanilla and cheesecake ice cream. She looked at the topping and chose a sweet potato cream with walnuts and sat down at her desk. She took a moment to collect herself before she started digging in. Between this class and DADA, Hogwarts was turning out to be the best place ever! She decided to wait for Jenny to come sit down before she started eating. They should celebrate together.

Josephina nodded. The boy was probably right . . . she - as a grown witch - could probably get away with transporting Jacob in the air, but for young witches and wizards, probably not the brightest of ideas. "Good point." Flickering her wand, she muttered the incantation and a stretcher appeared. "You can take it from here?" she asked, quite confident in a fourth year's ability to produce a levitation charm. That was first year material.

Jenny kept looking around where Kurumi is, when she finally saw the Gryffindor, sitting down on a desk and not even touching her ice cream. Oh...not good, she should start eating right away instead of waiting for her. But then again, Jenny had to wonder why Kurumi kept disappearing so much. She must be a true Japanese then, quick and silent as a ninja.

Quickly, Jenny came to sat down on a desk next to Kurumi's. She place her bowl of ice cream on the desk. "I was trying to look for you since you disappear so much, ahaha. You're a born ninja, aren't you?" Jenny had to chuckle to herself before noticing her ice cream bowl in front. Darn, she almost forgot. 'Yeah, let's eat. Not good for ice cream to melt, now is it?"

Kurumi laughed. "I don't think anyone in my family was a ninja," she said as she took a large spoonful of ice cream and popped it into her mouth. "My mother's side of the family comes from a long line of kendo masters though." Wow, this ice cream tasted delicious! "Do you think we are supposed to eat this in 7 spoonfuls or, since we are eating together, 9 spoonfuls?" She was going to be thinking about numbers for the rest of the day. She could see her dream diary entry now...
She shook her head. She felt like she was on an episode of LOST and the same number sequence was going to keep popping up wherever she went.

"Aw, no, don't remind me of that, please." Jenny rolled her eyes as Kurumi mentioned the DARN NUMBERS again! Ugh...she was really going to have to choose a different lucky number this time. Maybe 3 will work out.

The ice cream seemed out to drive all that out of her mind, however. Mmmm...all that sugar melting in her mouth. It just has to be this good after a hard class such as this.

Ice cream?!

Well obviously she wasn't going to eat any was she? That was no good, so the blonde lingered around her arms folded across her chest. This was, well rathr suckish. It was a good job Trixie thought the lesson to be amazing otherwise she would e a little grump right now. But she was proud of her veganism so she wasn't goin to ruin it by eating ice cream.

Oh but at least they got homework, which meant more house points for Slytherin and something to distract her.
