On the other side of Professor Maya's hut lies a large grassy area, surrounded by a 4 feet tall wooden fence. Here, approximately* 20 different animals, that can be found in a muggle farm, roam free in the enclosure. Even if the creatures are not your regular magical beings, it doesn't mean they are not special. So please, treat them with care.

Go ahead, step inside through the little doorway.
Spend some time with the goats and pigs. Why not give Nelson – the gentle Belted Galloway calf – a treat? Be careful of our small furry friends, the rabbits, and make sure you say hello to the cotton-soft sheep. Help feed the chickens and roosters and pay attention to the ducks – they are ever so cute.

You will find everything you need to help take care of the animals in the little shed, right outside the enclosure. In there you'll find rakes and shovels to help keep the area clean, and also clean rags and buckets for various uses. The shed is stocked with food for the animals, Maya makes sure it's fresh – it's important you give them the right designated food, and nothing else or they can get sick. See the food list pinned onto the wall.

When you decide to take a rest, remember to put the things back where they were, so others can find them easily next time.

She shook her head, playing with the bunny's ears. "No. They already had their baby. Her name is Ava." Cute kid really. "She's with Sir Lawson while he persues his career in the rock star business. Apparently he was one before teaching." She still didn't see it, not when the woman had told her and not now. A small smile crossed her face, her eyes meeting his. "I don't think so, she didn't even smile when I went to meet her. Her name is Professor Maya Saylen. She wouldn't tell me her middle name, but I'll find out soon enough." She would. It was on her list.

A small, light but brief chuckle left Sabel as he pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, intertwining his fingers above his shins. "I'm sure you will. Anything you put your mind to, Miss Lovegoods, you do. It's very impressive." Pursing his lips, he considered one of the ducks doing a rather strange waddle about. "Maya Saylen. Professor Saylen. She does sound a little tight-lipped...not to judge a book by its cover...I'm just making an observation."

Tilting his head, he glanced at his friend with consideration. "Though, you know, did you consider that perhaps she is more fond of animals than she is of children? I mean, she would have to be a very caring person to get this job here, taking care of all these critters. She has to have a soft spot if she is a carer of creatures. So maybe, she is tense, because she is more at home with animals and being with people...is just strange."

Arya giggled at Sabel, partially glad that he seemed to be feeling better, while still carefully playing with the bunny's ears. "Its in my blood. The whole not giving up thing." She grinned, eyes flickering towards the duck. "She does seem like it, but it was the first day and there seemed to be a lot of other students wanting to see her, so I guess she had reason to be."

Musing over Sabel's words. "I figured she loved animals. I mean she did put this enclosure here, and she is the creatures professor; can't have that job and not love them." Especially when they were this cute. "I guess she is more at home with creatures, though I'm sure we can work on that." She grinned at Sabel.

He had to glance over her, a small smile tweaking the corners of his mouth. "We? Hold on, who said anything about a 'we'?" Turning to face her, he gave her a light poke in the arm. "If you remember Miss Lovegoods, my people skills aren't exactly...welcomed by all. I'm sure I may only hinder the nurturing of her much needed good opinion of children."

"I do remember Mr. Dakest," She grinned, poking him back. "And I think this would be the perfect time for you to work on those people skills. She's not that bad, there is no way you could hinder to the point where she would never like any students." Impossible really.

This time a good laugh came from him, and he shook his head. "I am afraid, there are quite a few ways in which I could, Miss Lovegoods. Say...suggesting she take points from her beloved creatures should one defecate in the presence of a student, or take a nibble upon some robes." Shaking his head, he gave her an amused look. "No, I am fairly certain I could tarnish decently."

Giggling, she let the bunny hop of in favor of another cuddly creature. "You doubt your people skills to much, Mr. Dakest. She might have a sense of humor and take it as a joke or say that said creature nibbling on your robes was just showing you affection." That's exactly how she would take it. Arya smirked at Sabel. "I bet you wouldn't." You've been challenged Dakest.

Laughing, Sabel leaned back until he was lying on the ground, watching the clouds go by up ahead. "Are you trying to dare me into losing House points, Miss Lovegoods? I am on a record for a decent streak, I would really need a good reason to destroy that." Turning his head, he smiled up at the Hufflepuff, holding up a finger as if to add on a point. "And, I may have good people skills most of the time, but that's when my morality isn't in the limelight."

"Noooo," She drawled with a grin. "Just challenging you to do what you claim is impossible. I'm sure you wouldn't tarnish the lucky streak you've been on," Picking up a baby chick, she careful placed him on Sabel's chest, giggling as he walked around on his chest before settling down on his middle. "We've been friends for three years, Mr. Dakest. I'm sure some of my good people skills have rubbed off on you. Enough to charm our new creatures professor." She placed another chick on his chest to rest with the other.

He laughed until she started placing a chick on his chest, and then he had to bit his lip to supress the urge as the little thing wobbled about before settling down. Any breath or small bit of chuckling sent it tilting and keening like a 4.0 earthquake, which only made the urge to laugh stronger.

"Aye, I suppose some of them did. Don't think you got me to reach the 'charming' mark though." Then she was putting another on him which seemed a twin repitition to the first. "And now apparently you are teaching me how to be a mother hen --" His head snapped off the ground in sudden alertness, looking about. Speaking of... "Arya...where is the mother?" The last thing he wanted was to get chased about the sanctuary by a feather-crazy-defensive mother.

"I do. None of the professors here dislike you." Arya never referred to Lafay when she spoke of the professors as a whole. With one finger, she gently stroked the heads of the two chicks. "She's over there with her other babies." Without looking away from the chicks on his chest, she waved her hand in the direction on the hen with a handful of other chicks. "Not really a mean mama hen. I think she wants us to take the pair off her hands while she cares for the others."

Following her wave, Sabel eyed the hen and her chickens warily before deciding that what Arya said was true. Folding his arms under his head, he rested it back down and peered at the two babies on his chest. "You mean she wants me to take the pair off her hands. Considering how you have passed them into my possession."

"Shared custody, Mr. Dakest." She kept stroking the chicks on their heads while hers turned towards Sabel to poke her tongue out at him. "You get them while there sleeping, since your good for sleeping on." Arya ran her fingers through her hair when a breeze blew it in her face. "And I get them when there awake cause I'm good for playing." She grinned at that one. They would have so much fuun with her. "We both feed them."

Tilting his head at her, he couldn't keep the smile from his lips. "Collective custody, huh? I didn't get any paper from any lawyer." His smile turned into a grin as he reached over and gently prodded her leg with a finger. "And sleeping? Are you saying I'm boring?"

"We don't need a lawyer. This is a verbal agreement." She grinned at him, plucking at the grass. "Lawyers would have it so you would only get them on the weekends, and have to pay chick support." She made a face before emitting a small stream of giggles. "Its best that we do it our way."

Playfully rolling her eyes, she sprinkled a few blades of grass around the chicks. Food for when the wake. "I'm saying that if they want someone to sleep on, your their guy. Your good for playing too, but not as good as me."

"You, despite your distaste for them, would make a good lawyer." Sabel chuckled, patting her knee. "I agree with your conclusion."

He left his hand there while he watched her sprinkle grass on his shirt. Now he was going to smell like chickens and fresh cut lawn. Le natural. "And yet again, you are right in your conclusion. I'm getting too old to be playing about."

"Too much paperwork." She stated simply, sprinkling more grass on his shirt. "Good, cause we can't share two chicks and not be on the same page."

Picking up his hand, she rested both elbows on her knees and began to examine his hand. "No your not. Your just getting older, not to old to play though." He was still in school so, defiantly not to old.

He was going to make a comment on them being on the same page in relation to her dislike of paperwork. That was until she took his hand in hers. Then, for some strange reason, he couldn't think of a single thing to say. Instead, he blinked rather dumbly at her, trying to figure out why he couldn't figure out anything to say.

"I guess." Hey, look at that! Words. Pathetic words, but at least it was a start. "That'll be next year. Wrinkles and all, what with being a senior student."

"Rai doesn't have wrinkles." She replied absently, slowly turning his hand as she studied it, oblivious to the looks he was giving her. "So you won't have wrinkles....unless you take a aging potion. Then you'll have wrinkles and gray hair" Glancing up she tried to picture him with gray hair and wrinkles, making a face when she did. "You look better with brown hair."

This was getting ridiculous. Again, he was caught dumbfounded. Especially when she looked at him. What in Gandalf's great white hat was going on with him? Focus. On something. That's what he had to do. On something...

Raiden with wrinkles. Yeah no...himself with wrinkles and grey hair. He found himself making a face similar to Arya's. "Yeah...I'll have to agree with you on that. Silver maybe, grey... definitely not." Ah ha! Something to focus on. "Weren't some students given a beard at the Goblet of Fire, for crossing the line? Or was I imagining things?" That day, had been a blur of nonsensical events.

"Silver?" She mused, attempting to picture that as well. "...Maybe. Defiantly better than gray." Cause it was shiiiny. "Fred and George Weasley. They took an aging potion and tried to cross the line and got gray hair and long beards." That must have been the funniest thing to see. "Do you think beards itch when they're grown in?" Arya had been thinking about this ever since she had to conversation with that Ravenclaw girl.

Yes, this was better. Focusing his mind on something trivial but rather interesting and engaging at the same time. "Ah, so it was your conversation I was hearing...not actual...I got it."

Resting his head back, he considered the sky rather than considering Arya considering his hand. "Itchy? Probably. I mean...unless you're used to it. But I imagine it would be rather uncomfortable." He couldn't help but scratch his chin at the topic of the conversation.

Arya scrunched up her nose as she considered what it would be like to have facial hair. "I think it would be weird....to have hair on your face that wasn't your eyebrows." She didn't know anyone with facial hair. Well....Noah's friend had a little facial hair, but not much. Felt funny to touch.

"A bird. Well that's not so bad. It would actually be rather interesting and almost desirable depending on the type of bird." His eyes followed hers to the chicks and pointedly remained there as he felt her continue to examine his hand. Maybe she had learned about palmistry during the summer months. "Better than facial hair I suppose. I couldn't honestly say; haven't had the experience yet." Why was she still examining his hand?

"The boy changed into a small green bird." She slowly turned his hand so that she was looking at his palm. "Kellen kept trying to get me to cross the line, I think to see if the bird you change into was house based." Silly Ravenclaw, always thinking to logical. "I like being human." Spreading his fingers carefully, she held up his hand so that she was peeking through them at the chicks. "You should try it....so we can know if it itches or not."
